This Ace Hardware is right next to my gym and I wanted to check it out to see if they had any options for fencing wire or rope that was not in some of the other hardware stores in the area. When I walked in, I was greeted at the front register by some very friendly staff as well as a construction kitten. not many stores that I've been to feature a construction cat so I was pretty excited as was my son. They pointed me in the direction of exactly what I was looking for. the prices are very competitive with the big box stores as well as online marketplace. They had a good and wide variety and parts available for DIY projects that have been on my to do list for a very long time. I'm excited to come here to get my items to cross off that list this summer. read more

So helpful.....the day before Thanksgiving our propane burner died. We went all over and no one had the right one most selections were poor. Stopped at Ace Hardware and they had an amazing selection from burners to the entire fried turkey equipment. They helped us right away and even carried it to our car. read more

It's nice to have our neighborhood hardware store backing up and running. They quite don't have everything like the old Charleston hardware store used to have but it's pretty close. It's nice to see that a mom & pop hardware store still exists in a town where Lowe's and Home Depot rule the roost. I stopped by here for some simple hardware needs, and although the selection wasn't huge, I still found what I needed, and felt like I meant something while walking through the register at checkout. It's an honest family atmosphere that I enjoy being a customer of, and although I won't find everything that I need here, I'm very happy to see them up and running in West Ashley with the rest of the big boys. read more

I know nothing about anything related to anything in this store. And yet, I had so much comfort as I was helped patiently about some screws I needed. The assistant did his best to provide the right screws, with the little information I provided. He was like a screw whisperer. I went home and nearly all the screws worked. It wasn't the store's fault. Somebody had drilled different size/dimension holes in the door jam. I went back the next day and a young woman assisted me. This time I was prepared. I said, "I was here yesterday and I need something thicker than this screw." I knew to say this because the assistant yesterday said, "if the screw goes straight in, you need a different size." The young woman find me perfect screws. Went home and voila! The door is back on its hinges. read more

The staff here is always extremely helpful, friendly, and attentive and despite its small size, the store offers quite a wide variety of product options. Since we started renovating our house a couple of months ago, I have been here more times than I can count. I've found everything I've needed on each trip. This includes everything from paint, caulk, grout, drill bits and saw blades to fire extinguishers, plumbing necessities, and dog food. I've also learned that if they don't have it on the shelf to always ask because sometimes they have it but it's just in the back. The central location of this store on Wappoo between 61 and 17 means trips here are quick and more convenient. And best of all, their prices are competitive with big box stores so you can support local and not spend an extra arm or leg. read more

Always super helpful employees available and they have all I need! This location is my local hardware store. We do have the Home Depot and Lowe's deeper into west Ashley but I much prefer coming here for all my small needs. I don't need a huge hardware store for my level of home/garden care so True Value is perfect. I honestly come here for gardening projects the most. I've purchased a few lightbulbs and other random screws and nails, but mostly gardening supplies. Every time I come in I have one or two employees ask me if I need help. They're always able to assist! I wasn't sure the color lightbulb and he gave me tons of recommendations. I wasn't sure where insect traps were located, they point me right to them. Unlike the big box stores where it's impossible to find an employee and when you do they're basically useless. When I do want to do projects I usually need help picking up the right kinds of hardware and tools, I appreciate that true value has actual associates available who are knowledgeable. They have good hours for a local hardware store, even Sunday's they're open. They also are in a nice plaza with plenty of parking available. Plus I just got some seed packs for only 15 cents because they season is over, YESSS read more

This True Value has awesome service and a limited supply, small store! However, today I ran into a very arrogant employee who was kinda like a pit bull, I think his name was Greg. He answered my questions but another guy actually helped me and was kind. Greg would walk by and rudely interject. This place is awesome. Since they opened I've been there probably 20 or 30 times for various projects around the house. The two folks, Waylon and (I forget but he has longer hair) are legit and know their stuff. Any question, concern, literally anything, these guys are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and very cool to talk to. It's like they get a high for sharing knowledge. I hope to achieve 1/2 their knowledge before I die, to be honest. The rest of the staff are also incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I guess you pay a few % more than going to the big box stores and it's soooo worth it. I get 90% of the things I buy delivered from online sites and these are the guys that I continue to support. I can't explain how much I've learned and accomplished around the house since this place opened up. read more
