I'm gonna be a little b*tch and admit that the old lady who works in frames, Marsha? Alicia? Aesha? I forgot her name (she's blonde, early 70s, worked tonight 9/15/25), hurt my feelings really badly. In front of other customers. I'm an artist who's collects local sharks teeth and unique shells and use epoxy to put them on canvas inside a shadow box frame. People love them. Especially people out of town that don't have a beach or friends and family who have moved away from the beach and want a piece of home to hang up in their house. I took a piece I had made for a friend in Breckenridge and asked Mean Marsha to nail a sawtooth hanger to the frame. Super easy job. However, Michael's only sells fake wooden shadow boxes and I'm not at the point in my art career where I can make customized shadow boxes for each customer. Michael's fake wooden shadow boxes, being still cute and classy looking, have been a big hit with my customers. So that's where I get my frames! I also bought the sawtooth hanger there as well. She ended up breaking my frame and says "well I can put some glue in there.." and I said no my customer paid a lot of money for this. She says "a lot of money for THIS?!". And I told her yes, I make these myself. She then ignored that statement and took the frame in the back again. I had no clue what she was doing. She comes back out and has put a giant piece of white tape over the hanger as if that's supposed to keep the hanger on the frame. She must've also forgot that the frame was still cracked and I had already said no to the glue so a big piece of white tape wasnt going to work. At this point I thought she was joking with me. She said "it's barely noticeable and this is the best we can do". I told her I was just going to buy a new frame and never mind. She says "well NOW I feel like I HAVE to give you a free frame". I was so distracted by her I insulting my art that I hadn't even gotten that far on what I was going to do. So I say "you don't have to do that. I knowy art may not look like much to you but many people find it. Beautiful just so you know" my baby self was fighting back tears like a loser. She then said " oH AnD tHeReS aLsO piEcEs oF HAiR iN tHeRE toO" and goes and grabs another frame and hands it to me and I ask her if she still needs me to pay her for her "services". She said "no have a good night". I have NO idea what happened to her between the time I got there and me leaving but she was MISERABLE. And taking it out on me. I have a lot going on right now. Financially, mentally, and physically and she really kicked me while I was down for no reason. I hope she has a better day tomorrow

    Happy Unicorn Day!

Yes, Michael's lost a couple stars in my book. I still come to Michael's several times a week, and I am the duchess. However, this Michael's does have a major problem. I come into Michael's so frequently because my dear friend is becoming an artist and loves buying new art supplies. My friend is a male with long, beautiful blonde hair. To the Michael's Manager, Diane, my friend's long blonde hair means that he's a thief. It's profiling. He comes in this store more than I do. He buys and average of $60 worth of products every time he comes in. He really helps boost the sales of this store. Diane doesn't see it that way. We have overheard her telling other employees to keep an eye out on us. She said, "they always come in right before close. They know the deal. Make sure to watch them." What's the deal, Diane? I didn't know you got a special deal for coming in late at night. Oh yea, she thinks we're getting 5 finger discounts. Okay... if that were the case, why would my friend waste so much money at this store on an almost everyday basis? If he's stealing, he doesn't need to spend that much. Oh yea, my friend is not a thief. When I worked in Customer Service, they taught us never to accuse anyone of stealing. I guess Diane missed that lesson. Maybe if my friend had a buzz cut, Diane would treat him with respect. She definitely profiles people. She also accused me of smoking cigarettes in the Michael's bathroom. She accused me of this several times. I have never smoked a cigarette inside of this store. I don't know why she thinks it was me, but she's convinced of it. I still come to Michael's all the time. My friend and I love buying new art supplies. Michael's also has really great sales regularly as well as digital coupons everyday on the app. Last night, I got 6 votive candle holders for less than $5. Michael's has great deals. I wish it wasn't so awkward coming to Michael's. I hate getting accused of things I didn't do.

Michaels offers an extensive selection goods for all arts and crafts needs--canvases, paint, picture frames, artificial flower and plants, decorative boxes, yarn, dyeable shirts, stamps, stickers, beads...you name it, they have it. This store is very organized. The shelves are stocked. They typically have some type of sale going on but the prices are still high. They offer workshops on various arts and crafts.

Michaels in West Ashley is one of my favorite places to go for all of my arts and crafts needs. There are times that I really need to get serious about my crafts and I am in dire need of quality supplies and Michaels comes to the rescue just about every time. They are really well organized and well stocked in just about any craft item I need to get started and finished. I have always found exactly what I was looking for when I came in and even more sometimes. The staff here is very friendly and personable and they always seem to know exactly where everything is located and can find it right away. The checkout line moves very fast even when the line is long and the store is busy. This location is where it is at for everything you could possibly want that is crafts related.

They charge .35 cents for a freaking bag??? Everything is already overpriced! Do better! This place was dead and I see why now.

The ladies in here were super nice. I'm not a crafter, just looking for a needle threader for a little project. Very pleasant.

They charge $0.35 for a bag. Even Oregon only charges 5 cents for a bag. Crazy. I'll be shopping elsewhere.

These are not what you see on the shelves at your local Target or Wal-Mart. These are a much more unique collection! You'll find a lot of fantasy and role-playing board games here. Many crossovers with sci-fi tv shows and cartoons like Firefly or Rick and Morty. They don't really stock word playing stuff like Scrabble or Bananagrams or classic games like Chinese checkers or Life. There is also a very large comic book section of the store. It was all a bit overwhelming but in a good way! This would be a great place to get a unique gift for someone who loves board games. The dedicated gaming room was massive and full of tables and chairs. The other players there were quite kind to our son. The Green Dragon staff guided and explained everything so he felt comfortable. He was a good deal younger than everyone else so as a parent I really appreciated the generosity of the players and staff. We will absolutely be back!

We wanted,…read moreespecially in current times, to support a small, local business instead over a large, national chain store (where we could have very easily obtained the book with much less driving.) While this type of store is not something I personally would seek out (full disclosure: I went because my partner wanted to), I was immediately hooked when I walked in. I loved the stickers and signs I saw on the windows and door before even walking in. I was ecstatic to see the store highlighting the work of Black/African-American comic-book writers and characters at the front of the store. The game and book options were seemingly endless, even for someone like me who doesn't know a whole lot. And, prior to driving out there, we called just to make sure the certain books were in stock. An employee answered the phone, well before store open, and kindly checked the store in order to best answer our question(s). Both prior to entering and even while in there, the customer service was great. Under normal circumstances, I think I would rate this store a 5/5. I struggle to write this review without mentioning safety cautions, which are important for me at this time for myriad reasons. I've debated whether I should mention these things in these types of reviews (maybe that's a conversation for a different time), and I'm willing to remove or edit when it is no longer relevant. However, what bothered me, a lot, actually, was the lack of social distancing precautions taking place within the store. No employees were wearing masks and only half of the customers in the main area of the store were wearing masks. The store still had their separate section (a room that is attached, but separated from the main store) operating for game time, and at least 10 young adults (~20s) were there eating snacks and playing games. While I only quickly peeked inside (before realizing it wasn't part of the store), I saw only one person sitting at a table playing games wearing a thin mask. As a health scientist and health-cautious individual, this bothersome to me for various reasons, with one of them being my comfortability with leaving the house, especially for non essential items, is not high. When I do go somewhere, however, I expect and hope that places are at least follow minimum recommended CDC guidelines. Because they were totally lacking at Green Dragon this weekend, my partner and I purchased his book and quickly left as fast as possible. We talked about this the entire car ride home - wondering why this was the case? Why aren't the employees concerned for themselves? Or their customers? How should I rate the review because of it?Perhaps most disappointedly, we discussed how under other circumstances, we would have been in that store for at LEAST an hour, and probably longer, looking and likely purchasing way too many games and books for ourselves, our family, and friends. Because this is so important to me, I've decided to rate 3 stars and cut the difference, while being fully transparent in explaining my reasoning. My initial reaction was to rate 1 star altogether because of this, frankly because I find it so unacceptable and astonishing, but I want to try my best to also be balanced and fair, to a degree, realizing that if we all weren't facing these unprecedented times, my impression of the place wouldn't be close to what it is. My plan is that following the pandemic, I hope to return. When I do, I am certain I will change my review to 4 or 5 stars.

I recently moved back to Summerville so I made the trip to North Charleston to get a few items. Overall this is pretty much like any other Hobby Lobby with one exception, which I'll bury somewhere in here if you keep reading. Walking in a week after the doors were unlocked for the general public, the experience is almost exactly similar to all other Hobby Lobby's; the space wide open yet filled with shelves of knick-knacks, art supplies, nostalgic themed items and many other items. The place is very clean and sterile while being well stocked and thoughtfully displayed, playing on the casual shoppers innate impulse shopping with "Oh I might need that one day" mentality. Therein lies my personal weakness as I headed back to the front to grab a cart to load up with items, I really didn't need but I could justify in my mind. I could drag the review out but, it's Hobby Lobby and you know what you're getting. Clean and safe stores with all sorts of items, and generally good employees. But that is one of the flaws of this particular store, the people were slow to respond and weren't well trained as they seemed to be missing a clue or two. While I'm ignorant of the inner workings I'd wager management isn't exactly up to par here. That said for the general public I don't think that would be an issue, just my knit picking. I'll end my review with it's not a bad store and it just needs a little TLC in terms of customer relations. Stop on by and take some time to relax and walk around a little and enjoy life while shopping.

I purchased a 1928 $2.50 gold coin. The coin was raw (ungraded) but advertised to be MS quality. I purchased paid to have it graded professionally by PCGS right away. The coin was graded as 92 cleaned which affords me no value beyond the gold itself. I've lost any possibility of profit, lost cost for shipping ($60), lost cost for grading ($135) and two months of my time. I've reached out multiple times with no response. Admittedly I was fearful of this exact situation happening so I did reach out to Miller immediately after purchasing the coin with concerns over the the possibility of a lower grading than advertised. Coincidence? Nope. He finally responded and offered a basic refund which makes no sense since he would then own my coin that I paid to have graded and I'd be left no coin AND out of $200 for grading. This guy even told me "under no circumstances should you ever buy ungraded coins"...which he sold to me! Make no sense. Just bad business and does not support the Nation's veterans. I even gave them a positive review on the eBay purchase. What a time to be alive.
