Ordered custom canvas frames for Christmas presents this year and the experience has been abominable! The Website promised they would arrive by Christmas with the $40+ expedited shipping. Here we are two weeks later on January 4th and I'm still waiting on one of the frames to arrive. The staff inside the store stated they aren't able to look up the order, or do anything remotely helpful for that matter. It's hard to believe they can't pull up the order in their system to help track or assist with receipt of the items. Despite the fact it was ordered on Michael's.com and is being delivered to the Michaels store! Makes no sense. I would give it zero stars if it let me. I'm gonna be a little b*tch and admit that the old lady who works in frames, Marsha? Alicia? Aesha? I forgot her name (she's blonde, early 70s, worked tonight 9/15/25), hurt my feelings really badly. In front of other customers. I'm an artist who's collects local sharks teeth and unique shells and use epoxy to put them on canvas inside a shadow box frame. People love them. Especially people out of town that don't have a beach or friends and family who have moved away from the beach and want a piece of home to hang up in their house. I took a piece I had made for a friend in Breckenridge and asked Mean Marsha to nail a sawtooth hanger to the frame. Super easy job. However, Michael's only sells fake wooden shadow boxes and I'm not at the point in my art career where I can make customized shadow boxes for each customer. Michael's fake wooden shadow boxes, being still cute and classy looking, have been a big hit with my customers. So that's where I get my frames! I also bought the sawtooth hanger there as well. She ended up breaking my frame and says "well I can put some glue in there.." and I said no my customer paid a lot of money for this. She says "a lot of money for THIS?!". And I told her yes, I make these myself. She then ignored that statement and took the frame in the back again. I had no clue what she was doing. She comes back out and has put a giant piece of white tape over the hanger as if that's supposed to keep the hanger on the frame. She must've also forgot that the frame was still cracked and I had already said no to the glue so a big piece of white tape wasnt going to work. At this point I thought she was joking with me. She said "it's barely noticeable and this is the best we can do". I told her I was just going to buy a new frame and never mind. She says "well NOW I feel like I HAVE to give you a free frame". I was so distracted by her I insulting my art that I hadn't even gotten that far on what I was going to do. So I say "you don't have to do that. I knowy art may not look like much to you but many people find it. Beautiful just so you know" my baby self was fighting back tears like a loser. She then said " oH AnD tHeReS aLsO piEcEs oF HAiR iN tHeRE toO" and goes and grabs another frame and hands it to me and I ask her if she still needs me to pay her for her "services". She said "no have a good night". I have NO idea what happened to her between the time I got there and me leaving but she was MISERABLE. And taking it out on me. I have a lot going on right now. Financially, mentally, and physically and she really kicked me while I was down for no reason. I hope she has a better day tomorrow read more

Yes, Michael's lost a couple stars in my book. I still come to Michael's several times a week, and I am the duchess. However, this Michael's does have a major problem. I come into Michael's so frequently because my dear friend is becoming an artist and loves buying new art supplies. My friend is a male with long, beautiful blonde hair. To the Michael's Manager, Diane, my friend's long blonde hair means that he's a thief. It's profiling. He comes in this store more than I do. He buys and average of $60 worth of products every time he comes in. He really helps boost the sales of this store. Diane doesn't see it that way. We have overheard her telling other employees to keep an eye out on us. She said, "they always come in right before close. They know the deal. Make sure to watch them." What's the deal, Diane? I didn't know you got a special deal for coming in late at night. Oh yea, she thinks we're getting 5 finger discounts. Okay... if that were the case, why would my friend waste so much money at this store on an almost everyday basis? If he's stealing, he doesn't need to spend that much. Oh yea, my friend is not a thief. When I worked in Customer Service, they taught us never to accuse anyone of stealing. I guess Diane missed that lesson. Maybe if my friend had a buzz cut, Diane would treat him with respect. She definitely profiles people. She also accused me of smoking cigarettes in the Michael's bathroom. She accused me of this several times. I have never smoked a cigarette inside of this store. I don't know why she thinks it was me, but she's convinced of it. I still come to Michael's all the time. My friend and I love buying new art supplies. Michael's also has really great sales regularly as well as digital coupons everyday on the app. Last night, I got 6 votive candle holders for less than $5. Michael's has great deals. I wish it wasn't so awkward coming to Michael's. I hate getting accused of things I didn't do. read more

Michaels has become so cheap that they stop providing bags. That is part of their overhead and they're trying to say we're going " green! " No green has nothing to do with it. People are inconvenienced by this irrational decision to throw your overhead cost onto customers and make them have to carry their own bags . We are not going to go back to the 1800s again. Their curbside pick up operation is very smooth. When I went into the store I was able to find someone and ask them for help without any trouble and though she was stocking when I found her, she seemed happy to stop and help me. Great staff, clean store, good deals. read more

Don't use their curb service! I ordered 2 skeins of yarn, paid 9.43 each. They were on clearance for 5.00. It was marked on my yarn. When I called customer service she said they don't honor that. If you buy it online and it's on clearance in store you're paying more! If you buy from Micheal's you do better going in store. I'll stick with Joann's!! I hired Michael's to frame an autographed Michael Jordan jersey and they ruined it by using some sort of tape or glue when they put a ticket stub over the jersey. this has resulted in a reduced value of ten thousand to fifteen thousand . i have my receipt, photos of the Jersey showing it's been in the frame over the years, a witness to when I finally unframed it and then pictures of the damage and the item that caused the damage. I went to several experts and they couldn't fix it......,. You want to know what Michaels offered? $250, that's it. i Was counting on this as a savings account over the years and this is what they offered. Their claims company is very rude and ruthless. it was comical to them. I am Hiring an attorney and can update what happens once the case is settled. Here are some quick facts: -They denied it because of statute of limitation. the problem is that in order for me to have inspected their work I would have had to undue all they did. Then it would have been an endless cycle of rinse wash and repeat. - I do not have a signed copy of their receipt that states I agree to $250 max liability if they damage anything. Y'all need to not sign that if you have something framed! I don't believe they have a copy either. She tried to use that on me to. - it has been 12 years or so but i had no reason to take the jersey out of the frame. It was carefully pinned up and i def would not have been able to get it Put back the same way. It had 20-30 pins. I also had to tear off the paper covering the back of frame When I finally did take it out. - Michaels counsel asked why didn't I sell the jersey framed like it was as they usually sell like that. Incorrect! The auction company I use strongly suggests or required I take it out the frame before I send it in so we both can inspect it. I mean they are selling an item to someone so I definitely see why they should inspect it. It's insane that with all this proof, Michael's would not do the right thing and pay me what I am losing out on. I would have provided sold comps and documentation showing what it would sell for with the damage. This was something that I thought I could always sell if I ever needed some extra money. They have taken that away after I trusted their expertise and willing To only compensate us $250.00. The statute should start from when you were aware of the damage not from work was done but hopefully they can see why this needs to be an exception. i dont Want to mention why else I think it should be made an exception because i am going to fight this in court. This will have a huge impact on my family because of the situation I am In. read more

Michaels in West Ashley is one of my favorite places to go for all of my arts and crafts needs. There are times that I really need to get serious about my crafts and I am in dire need of quality supplies and Michaels comes to the rescue just about every time. They are really well organized and well stocked in just about any craft item I need to get started and finished. I have always found exactly what I was looking for when I came in and even more sometimes. The staff here is very friendly and personable and they always seem to know exactly where everything is located and can find it right away. The checkout line moves very fast even when the line is long and the store is busy. This location is where it is at for everything you could possibly want that is crafts related. read more

This is one of my preferred Micahel's locations. It is a large store, has a ton of options for your crafting needs and the staff is really helpful. I have dealt with almost every department, where each employee is knowledgeable in the department. The framing specialists were great! They showed us all of our options, pricing and discussed the reasoning behind specific ones they were showing us. They also let us know that they do price matching with other stores, so if we found the same frame somewhere else for cheaper, they would match it. This is a five star customer service rating for Mel. You know who you are. You work in framing/frames department and you excel like no other. I had a wedding and I was reading a poem I wrote. I needed a frame with a large matting so guests could sign around the poem. I didn't know what kind of frame I needed or type of pens to purchase. She walked around the store and got me everything I needed. Even glue. That glue was for something totally different. Then, the night of the wedding, we broke the glass. Alcohol may have had something to do with it. I went back to get a replacement glass. Not only did she fit it in the frame for me, but gave me her employee discount. I showed her pictures and she was thrilled to see the final framed poem with signatures. Clearly above and beyond the call of duty. Unfortunately, they also have a lot of other random stuff that makes it hard for someone like me who is looking to buy one thing, and ends up walking around looking for that one thing, while also adding one thing or another to the shopping basket. Being that it was right before Christmas, the store was a little cluttered and items were disorganized so that you weren't quite sure what the price was on certain items, but there is always someone waiting to answer your question if you look lost enough, which I do from time to time. read more

I always feel like a kid when I go into Michael's. It's just a fun store! They have just about everything you could ever want for your crafting needs, and if you think they don't just ask because you've probably just overlooked it! They are SO much more than a craft store though! They have a plethora of picture frames, as well as custom framing. (Except for this one specific poster frame size that I need. Grrr...) They have silk flowers, books for kids, and baking accessories to name a few other things. One of my favorite reasons to visit the store is to pick up holiday decorations. They have some of the best decorations and party supplies for any season! They also have the best stocking stuffers during Christmas time! Another must mention...the deals! Had a bad experience at this Michael's today! I went to buy a frame for my fathers flag from his funeral. My sister in law passed onto me a coupon for 60%off any reg. priced item today only, great! I go there select the frame I want, get to check out and the lady tells me coupon is no good because it's on sale for 50%off. I said to her but there was no sign showing a sale price or percentage. I have a picture of the display. So I paid more for the "sale" item than I would have with the coupon. My problem is mostly with her ATTITUDE! She could have been nice about it, but chose to be ugly. I love Michael's for all my crafty nonsense. I've slowly taught myself a number of things, and Michael's takes returns if you get too over ambitious (which I haven't had to use, humble brag!) Anyways, this location is pretty standard. The people are very friendly, the store is clean, lines were short. They had some really good sales when I was in, but I didn't really need anything (want and need are apparently different, according to my husband...) Cashier on register #3 during closing time on 2/13/17 was overtly dismissive and rude. Intentionally mumbled "Jesus Christ..." when my girlfriend produced a coupon via the Michaels app. We were quiet and mild-mannered during transaction and did not warrant such rude behavior from an employee. Cashier did not have name tag visible or I would call her out by name. This is my second ever review on Yelp (I think) for what it's worth. Worst customer service I've ever seen at any retail store in the Charleston area. She should be written up at least. read more

Terrible experience. Policy says that if you order online before 1pm you will get same day pickup (I ordered at 10:30AM). Went in for my pickup that night and they didn't have it ready. Online showed 18 of the item I ordered in stock when in reality they only had 7. After waiting 30+ minutes at first pickup attempt, I gave up and said I would come back tomorrow (not happy about this as policy guaranteed same day pickup). Came back the next day, saw my order on the desk, part of which I watched them place there the day before, and waited in line to pick it up (also not a great setup, pickup should have a separate line). Got to desk and pointed to it and was told there was no name on it so it probably wasn't mine (keep in mind I bought them out of this item and watched them put this on the desk for me the day before). After being asked rudely to step to the side and just wait even longer (another 30+ minutes) a manager came to the desk, confirmed it, and I FINALLY got my order. Michaels on Orleans road will never get my business again and I feel sorry for whoever does choose to shop there. read more
