I dropped my car off at 8:00 AM sharp for a diagnosis. The owner wasn't even there. Another employee took my keys and paperwork and told me to come back in two days. After 8 hours of my car sitting in their shop, I called to check the status--only to be told nothing was done. Absolutely nothing. Then they casually informed me that the mechanic is out for the rest of the week and told me to come back next Tuesday. This is beyond unprofessional and completely disrespectful of customers' time. They had my car all day and didn't bother to mention they couldn't even work on it. Terrible communication, terrible service, and total incompetence. I've brought my car here a few times for the mechanic. I felt like their prices were slightly high but not unreasonable. The people working aren't the friendliest. Sometimes when I bring my car they seem a little bothered. I probably would've kept coming here but my vehicle recently failed its smog here and they wanted to charge almost $300 just to tell me why it failed. On top of that I would've had to pay to fix it. Almost $300 just to tell me why my car failed feels excessive and frankly, a little gross. I've had vehicles fail at other smog places and they always tell you why free of charge and obviously you pay for the repair. This was weird and off putting and I probably won't be returning at this point. Which is a bummer because this place was conveniently located near my house. read more

I have this rattle sounds on the back right side of the old Kia soul for about 2 years now. Brought it to my regular mechanic in Hawaiian garden and a body shop. Spent about $1200 and the rattle continues. Ready to sell this car but thought I try Lowery's service as last shot. We come here for smog tests here every 2 years. The E85 pumps never consistently flow here !!! You hold for 5 seconds and it stops ... please fix this!! It's been months. And now I can't even fill up. Also the price for the E85 used to be at least a dollar less but now only .50 cents less. I will have to find a new E85 pump somewhere else. read more

Why did I go to the dealership? I had heard from some buddies that the computers on the '07 Toyota Trucks had a glitch that made the 'Tire Pressure' light turn on, even if there wasn't a problem. So, since it's still under warranty, I woke up early and drove to the dealership. Turned out that they wanted to charge me just to check the light. Dealer: The estimate is $25. Sign here and we can get the truck in. Me: Isn't it under warranty? Dealer: The tires aren't, if there it's nail we're going to have to fix it. And, we'll let you know how much extra it'll be. Me: Can you let me know what's wrong before you do any work on it? So, if it's something simple I can fix it myself Dealer: Well, I have to pay the guy to do the work. After that, I canceled the order and it to Lowry's. It was 7:30am and they were already busy. Me: Hey man, my 'Tire Pressure' light is on Paul: (as he walks towards the truck) We're pretty busy right now, it'll take a few hours to get the truck on a lift. But if you know which tire, I can test it right now Me: I had to put some air in the driver-side rear on Friday. I assumed that was 'cuz I hadn't driven it in a long time Paul: (As he checks the pressure of all the tires) They are all even Me: That's exactly what I thought! Paul: (He checked some stuff on his computer) It says that the light will go on if the tires are low, including the spare. Did you check the spare? Me: I didn't even think of that I let him carry on with his work and checked the spare myself. Lo and behold, it was the spare. My total time at Lowry's was about 15minutes- a majority of it was spent waiting for another patron to fill his tires. And, it was free. I couldn't believe that the dealership wanted to charge me $25 to tell me my spare was low. I don't even think that estimate included pumping it. Even though Paul didn't do any work on my truck, he was happy to stop what he was doing and take a look. Also, I would much rather like to be taught how do something than have someone take the truck to the back of some building without showing me what he/she did and how to diagnose it myself. read more

Read some good reviews on Yelp & Nextdoor about this shop & decided to give them a try. Went yesterday afternoon & Eric informed they were swamped with work but could definitely look into my oil leak the next day early in the am. Took my car today at 8am & as discussed he checked my car, identified the problem right away, & provided a reasonable estimate that included original parts. Left my car, got a call from Paul confirming the problem, & informing cost would be less than estimated. Car was ready by 1pm as mentioned. Leak area was cleaned and triple checked by Eric to assure it was gone. Honesty goes a long way and I'm happy to know I have a trustworthy shop close to home now. I called the station at 4:40pm today looking for specific battery for my car. I know they sell Interstate batteries and since they are located less than 5 minutes from my house, I figured I would go buy the battery if they had it. The person answered the phone and I asked if they had this particular battery size. I was told "maybe, but since I called 20 minutes before they closed that they had a lot to do and couldn't check on the battery, and that I can call back tomorrow". Why say you are open until 5:00pm when you are not willing to help a customer at 4:40pm. Having owned a food business for 28 years, I realize the imposition of customers coming in late and affecting the closing duties...but If the shop is open you take care of the customers. read more

Went here yesterday morning was told by vince, who has long hair, too busy for the day to put on new brake pads for me and was told to come back at eight am the next day when they open as they do not do appointments. I came back today this morning only to found out they do open at seven am like their website says and an older gentleman said they were all booked up for the day again as seen in attached photo of full parking lot. Lying liars and unprofessional attitudes here are a plenty! I took my car elsewhere and am very happy i did so! My sister and I went here to get her car smogged. She forgot her paperwork, so the techs just wrote her VIN down from the car. Trouble was, they were off by one number. Fast forward to after her tags expire, and no new tags. We figure out the problem was the VIN number was wrong, and my sister asks the AAA DMV service how to fix it. They say they couldn't do anything on their end (or even at the actual DMV end). We had to come back here to get them to fix the incorrect VIN. The first time my sister comes here, she is met with an obstinate older asian man. He's no help, and that's where my sister goes to the AAA to ask questions. When she comes back, she challenges the service, and they admit the older asian man has been giving trouble before. They agree to re-test the car and enter in the correct VIN. Be prepared, be aware, and check to make sure everything is in order when you go here to smog your car. read more

Been coming here for years and am here pumping at least once a week. This is why It's not getting 1 star. My issue here is..... There is a worker here who smokes cigarettes on the property. My interactions with the tall thin head mechanic, the one who writes one's car up and gives an estimate of what repairs, was extremely negative. He was very discourteous and patronizing. (I do not know if it was because I am a woman and don't know much about car repair.) The clerk who collects the money for gas or services...Let me stand for several minutes neither acknowledging or taking my money while he chitchatted with another customer or peddled around his tiny cube of an office. Every time I go there, the customer service is null. I have to drive further to Home Depot to get Item they don't carry.

This is the worst place you can go to get work done on your car let alone not just that but the employees are so rude. They don't greet you they walk past you act like they don't see you, especially a long hair fat man named Vince rudest employee I have ever met. I was on my way to take my kids to school and I noticed I had a flat tire so I stopped by this place and asked if they can please help me out just to change my tire and remember I had my 3 kids in the car and Vince said no we can't help you. You will need to go to a pep boys we are to busy. How in the world will you not help me just to change my tire knowing I can't drive with a flat tire having three kids in the car. Fuck this place! Friendly and honest employees. I've had to make a few trips this week to get my car smog checked and the subsequent repair. The staff here were friendly and they didn't overcharge for simple repair. Where others wanted to charge me two times what they estimated they got the job done and relatively inexpensively. They also answered all my questions and explained how the damage had been done. Being a female who knows very little about cars and car maintenance, I love that they educate me on whatever it is I'm asking for and not once do they try to cheat you by charging more for labor or whatever else (like most dealerships do!!) Love this place! I went to my dealership for a recall and was told I had $900 of repair needed. One being my brakes and driver belt then a bunch of fluids. I went to Lowery for a second opinion on the brakes and driver belt and found out what to look for on my driver belt, which turned out to be in good condition. I also found out that I have about 7,000 miles left on brakes. They were honest and also quoted a more reasonable amount then what my dealership quoted me. Stopped by here to grab some food really fast and fill up my gas tank. Went inside and the smell was horrible. It was a completely overpowering odor that was almost unbearable. However their product selection was fine and the cashier was pretty nice. I don't think I would go back anytime soon though. read more

This is one of the greatest places to get your car worked on. I have been coming here for at least thirty years. Lowreys at one time was used by my Maintenance Supervisor in the nearby refinery to do our required smog checks. I began taking my personal vehicles there for smog checks, brake work radiator and water pump repair; also my HMC motorhome received good care there. Developed a casual personal relationship with Eric, the owner and enjoyed getting in a bit of conversation whenever he was a able to give me a few moments of discourse. I know that he is honest, hard working generous . He actually assisted me in securing several hundreds of dollars in rebate from an overcharge at at another facility (motorhome repair in a different city). Thank you Eric for the short chat I was able to enjoy today during my mini vans smog test, Wish we were able enjoy such visits more frequently, without the shop talk. Bob read more

I made an appointment to take my RV in for a brake check with Paul I had to cancel the first appointment then reschedule. When my husband took it there he was told that there is a $150 fee to inspect. Paul never mentioned a fee on the phone. When I called him and asked him as a courtesy to mention this fee to customers when they make the appointment he said I DECLINE TO WORK ON YOUR RV and hung up on me. Who does business like that? Do not do business with them! I will be getting the name of the owner of the business to put in a formal complaint. So update: my husband went to pick up the RV and to speak with Erik the manager and basically was told that it sounded to him like we were just trying to get the inspection for free. He kept trying to walk away and my husband kept asking him to listen to him about what happened that we feel that customers should be told of prices when making the appointment if possible. We also explained that we were going to get the work done but we were told that he wouldn't work on it and hung up on us. Erik was not at all bothered by the treatment that we received and basically told my husband that he is losing money just standing there talking to him. Really? Thank God I found this place!! I was referred here by a neighbor of mine to have some work done to an older vehicle I own. I've been around the block a time or two with mechanics in the past. I have found that here diagnosis have been correct. Workmanship has been done professionally and in a timely manner. I always deal with Paul. He is friendly and trustworthy. There is no way I will let anyone else work on my vehicles so long as Paul is able and willing to work on them here. These type of garages are a dying breed. Skilled experienced master mechanics like Paul are hard to come by these days. There's a reason why the parking lot full of vehicles they're are working.
