I highly recommend Star Auto Care to everyone in LA/OC county. I had some leaks in my rack and pinion that I wasn't aware of, and started to hear strange whining noise. I called Star Auto Care and spoke with Sam, who is an amazing small business owner and advised me to drop off my car same day in the morning. After dropping off my car for inspection, Sam was able to have his mechanics identify the issue, which was a leaking rack and pinion. Sam provided an honest feed back and recommendation while giving me fair quote. I was advised to pick up the car a day later once the job was completed. The entire process from the beginning until the end, Sam the owner takes care of you. he does not cut corners, overcharge, and makes sure your vehicle issues are repaired before leaving his shop. Sam is a very cool and very knowledgeable guy, and above all he is honest! Combine that with very reasonable prices and so disappointed that I never found this place sooner. They are also able to accommodate early or late drop off. Since this place is old school I would definitely call to check their hours as they don't necessarily match up with Yelp. As a woman you can tend to feel uncomfortable talking to mechanics but I felt really respected even when I asked him to explain some things I didn't understand he was very kind and patient about it. i took my car in for a quote they told me 525 i said okay and left the car, takes them one week to fix a simple radiator and when i drive by to check on my car it's sitting in the corner collecting dust with the widows down. i was told continuously to wait after calling periodically and to no luck imy car gets treated as if it was nothing. my business uses sam's for auto work on our trucks and i can't guarantee we will continue. read more

These are some serious stand up, honest guys. I can't praise them enough! As a girl who knows nothing about cars, seeing a mechanic is a moment I dread. When my car started shutting down on me (while on the freeway obviously) I knew I was going to have to buck up and see a pro. I drove straight to Star Auto as they're across the street from my work and had 5 stars here on Yelp. As luck would have it my car burst back to life as I pulled in but these guys kept her for a day and half to run diagnostics and figure out what was wrong. They had an idea what it was but didn't want to work on it until they knew for sure. I really appreciated that. I did not want to get stung being charged for work my car didn't need while the real problem still lurked beneath the hood. All in all they figured it out, fixed my alternator, charged my warranty carrier, and even offered to replace a weak ground wire for FREE just because it was a crappy design flaw from Mazda. To top it all off, I got a really nice hand written thank you card in the mail a few days later! You'd never get that level of service from Pep Boys! read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! My car overheated today during one of the few storms that pass through LA. After trying to add antifreeze (about 2 gallons worth) it continued to overheat when I attempted to drive it. I eventually realized that it was going right through the car, I had a leak! I found Star Auto Care on Yelp because I was less than a mile away. The owner was completed booked and super busy, but after I told him I live in LA (not in the area) and I was kinda stranded, he agreed to take me! I was able to drive the car in around 3pm and the owner found the part we needed and had it ready by 5:30pm. This 8 month preggo is so very thankful to the owners and workers of this location!
