It was time to get two cars smog checked and after doing some Yelping, found a small owner-run STAR certified smog check station in La Mirada. I spoke to the owner John over the phone, and soon after we drove our two cars to get them smogged. John was very professional and super friendly, and he offered us two chilled bottles of water while we waited in the corner shady area next to the shop that has a tent set up. Everything was done quickly and efficiently, and we spent less than 20 minutes altogether for two cars. This was not only a painless transaction, but turned out to be a very pleasant experience while supporting a small La Mirada business, we highly recommend Low Price Test Only to everyone who is due for a smog check, you'll be glad you did. I pulled up when the employee was about to close the garage door, possibly for lunch, around 130pm on a Wed. He waited for me to park and very friendly greeted me. I asked if I would be able to do a Smog and he said he could do it before closing. He didn't have an attitude, because I kept him longer, he was not bothered or frustrated from a last minute consumer but he was very genuinely happy to help me. Pulled my car in, asked me to sit in the seating area on the side, and was kind enough to offer me a cold bottled water since it was a warm December day. He did my Smog, had me fill out some paperwork, I paid inside the Mobil station and he explained the electronic pass to the DMV, opened my door so I could get in, wiped my car door clean and I was on my way within 15 minutes or so. Went to find another smog check place but it was closed so found this one down the street and I had such a GREAT experience! I'm so glad I found this location. Its attached to the gas station, there weren't any other customers and my car was taken in right away. I was told about 15 minutes and it literally didn't take more than that. The tech was very professional and kind, explained how documentation is sent to DMV right away and the breakdown of cost, gave me a cold bottle of water and there's a nice outdoor waiting area. This shop is the best. You might think what's so complicated about performing a smog test? Nothing really, but John the owner is super friendly and knows exactly what he's doing. Before hooking anything up to my vehicle, he did a very quick pre-test that drew stored info from the vehicle's computer to determine if the test could be performed. Will I return here? Knowing that my vehicle registration was near, I decided to try and find a smog tester in my area. Lo and behold I find Low Price Test Only which is a block away. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I found John (aka Truc). I pulled in just as he was finishing another car. He rolled my car right in, took my DMV forms, and got started. He has a small enclosed, outdoor seating area that has a table and a few plastic chairs. It's covered with a canopy and, even though it was 80º+, has a slight breeze running through. Mid-way through testing, he came out with a cold bottle of water for me and a receipt to fill out. When I came in, I had mentioned that I found him on Yelp and I noticed he gave me a discount. All in all, I was there about 20 minutes, had a nice cold bottle of water whilst getting my car tested, and only paid $40. Win... win... Now to pay the darn DMV for my registration. read more

So I just purchased an extra vehicle and came here for a smog. Only 4 stars this time instead of 5 as their pricing is inconsistent. It's an OBDII vehicle so nothing extra or unusual needed to be done than the last vehicle I brought in here about a month ago but this time around the pricing is $50 instead of $40 like last time. Only difference than last time is I called beforehand for pricing and this tine I just showed up. Only vehicles that are 2000 and older would have to be tested via dynamometer. Customer service is still top notch and I will continue to to go here but will definitely call first for a quote. I suggest you do the same. read more
