I recently completed my third smog test at this location a couple of weeks ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner was friendly, mentioned that I didn't need to bring the Groupon coupon before that they would just automatically enter it upon arriving.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was no wait this time, took me 10 minutesor so to complete. There were no extra fee up charges compared to other places I've been to in the Long Beach area. If you need a smog check and are within driving distance, consider going here to complete your auto registration. read more

I've been to A1 Test Only & Smog on several occasions to get a 2013 Toyota Prius as well as a '90s Honda smogged. This place gets busy, a sign of a good business, and they are pretty efficient with their smog tests. I've seen other cutomers come in and were given some advice on what to replace before getting tested in order to pass - free of charge. I don't remember the actual prices I paid for my smog tests but do recall they were much less than other smog test stations nearby. If you're near the area and in need of a smog test, be sure to give A1 test a try. read more

They told me I could bring my car in anytime between 8am-5pm (and even Sundays 8am-3pm). I dropped off my car at 8:30am, and it was ready by lunchtime the same day. On top of that, they even offered a complimentary shuttle ride home--something the dealership no longer provides. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free. Mark's customer service was outstanding both over the phone and in person. The shop itself was clean and well-organized, and I noticed several repeat customers while I was there, which says a lot about their reputation. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

He noticed that the system wasn't fully ready yet and explained that I needed to drive around 50 miles for everything to reset properly. Instead of going ahead with the test and charging me for a failure, he was completely upfront and told me to come back once the car was ready. That level of honesty is rare. He could have easily run the test and charged me, but he chose to do the right thing. Really appreciate the transparency and professionalism.
