I recently had a great experience with Action Auto and wanted to share. My Honda CR-Z driver-side door handle mechanism stopped working (apparently a common issue with these cars). I had already purchased an OEM replacement handle from an authorized Honda parts dealer, and initially planned to have the dealership install it. However, the dealership quoted me a very high labor cost and required me to leave my car overnight due to their busy schedule. After doing some research, I found Action Auto in Cypress and spoke with Mark. From the very first phone call, Mark was friendly, professional, and transparent. Best of all, his quote was about half the price of what the dealership wanted to charge. The convenience was a huge bonus. They told me I could bring my car in anytime between 8am-5pm (and even Sundays 8am-3pm). I dropped off my car at 8:30am, and it was ready by lunchtime the same day. On top of that, they even offered a complimentary shuttle ride home--something the dealership no longer provides. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free. Mark's customer service was outstanding both over the phone and in person. The shop itself was clean and well-organized, and I noticed several repeat customers while I was there, which says a lot about their reputation. Had 100k service on Mazda 3 and it had the engine light on. They recommended new battery due to low voltage but battery was less then 6 months old from Costco. When I brought the car home I tested the battery and voltage was low. I removed and brought to Costco for warranty. They tested and battery was good. So I throughly cleaned the terminals and connections. Problem solved. I would have expected battery maintenance would have been done with the 100k service or at least a proper diagnosis. They rather wanted to sell me a new battery even thought mine was still under Costco warranty and was also good. read more

Unnecessary work was supposedly required according to Action Auto. Completely different from what I was told by the 2nd shop's estimates. I was also charged a $200 diagnostic fee! Highway robbery. I came here for smog 2 weeks ago. The smog result came failed because I recently changed the car battery. No check engine light. So the guy told me that I can come back once I drive the car for 100 miles or more. So it was cool not until the guy told me that there is a new state law that every time you get smog in there location now that they would charge the initial fee. And that I have to pay again once I get back. I called some other location for smog and all 3 say they don't charge to retest the car within the specific timeframe. I've been coming here for couple years now to get my smog for all our cars but now it feels this place is untrustworthy. Totally rip me off $56.75. NO I wouldn't recommend this place for smog anymore! read more

Mr Brett and his Team are AWESOME! I brought my car here for an oil change a few months back and found my new spot! Inquired about a transmission flush and can't back today to get it done. They did a courtesy check and found out my rear suspension was busted. My good deed letting a rear end go thinking the only damage was the visible to my bumper but I was wrong. Oh well, it needed to be fixed so Action Auto did it all the same day. They have text alerts to update you through the whole process. But being ripped off is unacceptable when they charge you for a diagnostic that other places offer for free. (Called for quotes, Jiffy and several other places do diagnostic for free.) Be careful who you talk to. Brett is fine. I've been serviced by one other guy before who was super nice and never tried to upsell but he might have retired. I had a very uncommon problem with my vehicle, something very frustrating to me because I'm a DIYer and I pride myself on figuring things out. Turned out I had an electronic control module that went bad and replacing those comes with the need to utilize expensive tools for reprogramming so the vehicle runs properly. They not only had it figured out but replaced and reprogrammed the next day! The relief this gave me was so invaluable because I had talked to several mechanics before this and no one could figure it out. I will send those receipts after Jan.2, 2025 and scan to make it easier for you. This way you will have a clear timeline. My car is old but does not have a lot of miles and I drive minimally. I work 7 days a week and my weekend job is driving a young adult with special needs. This company is wrong for putting the stress on me and having to cancel shifts at work and asking to come in later because of this issue. I want my money back,,,,that's all. Just refund me, so I can pay down my credit card bill. which was at zero dollars. Now I have a balance. Not good and not fair. I paid twice for the same work. My car was due for an oil change and I had to find a new place since I moved to OC. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place on Yelp. Apart from the good reviews, I couldn't pass up on the $25 for $50 promotion. While the oil change took much longer than expected (about 7 hours), the man who helped me was apologetic about the lengthy time. Both gentlemen behind the counter were friendly and customer-oriented. The place was clean; I liked that they offer free coffee (regular and flavored) and filtered water; they also have free popcorn for those who wanted to eat. read more

It all started with a periodic small oil drip with our Mini Cooper. On our first visit to Action Auto they provided at a cost a good wash under the engine which would show where the leak was coming from. They then advised us to drive the Mini for a few days to locate a fresh area of oil leak. After seeing the leak again and taking the Mini back for our second visit, we trusted that their recommendation of replacing the engine oil pan, valve cover, oil cooler, and a full oil change would fix the leak. Well, it didn't. The small oil leak turned into a river of oil on our garage floor. On our third visit, I showed them a picture of the oil river. After another inspection, they advised that the leak was coming from the oil filter housing gaskets and turbo oil return hose. After installing these new parts, they said they drove the Mini for 22 miles which proved that the oil leak was fixed. Driving the car home (about 1/2 mile) and parking it overnight, the next morning a pool of oil was discovered. I refused to take the Mini back to Action Auto after spending a substantial amount of money for labor and parts replacements only. I, as a backyard mechanic, in searching the internet for Mini Cooper oil leak problems it mentioned a possible leak at the camshaft seal. During my parts disassembly, the camshaft seal showed no sign of leaking. While looking at the camshaft area, a few inches below was the new oil pan. I noticed the new oil pan had a substantial amount of oil around it's rim. I removed the oil pan and cleaned the pan rim. There was also substantial residue remaining on the engine block from the original seal which was never removed before reinstalling the new oil pan. Working on the oil pan fixed the leak. In my opinion, Action Auto's poor workmanship was the cause of them not discovering the leak. If you are looking for someone to repair a vehicle, move on! read more
