Look, getting a smog check in SoCal is usually about as fun as a root canal without anesthesia--long waits, sketchy up-sells, and that lingering fear your car is gonna fail and you'll be out $800 for some mystery catalytic converter your mechanic's 'cousin' just happens to have in stock. Then I found Sanction Smog. Holy hell, these guys are the exception that makes you question why every shop can't operate like this. Walked in on a Saturday, no appointment, and was out the door in under 20 minutes with a passing sticker. Eric (pretty sure he's the wizard behind the counter) was fast, professional, zero pressure, and actually explained what he was doing without making me feel like an idiot. Price was fair--no hidden 'convenience fees' or surprise 'your air filter looks sad' upsell nonsense. Car passed with flying colors, parking was easy, shop was clean, and the vibe was 'we actually give a damn' instead of 'next victim please.' Wow! Where to start........this is the best smog shop I've ever been to, how's that for starters? I took my car here yesterday (2/9) because someone reported me to 1-800-END-SMOG after I cut them off in traffic and gave em the finger. As you can imagine, I was already in a rotten mood heading in. That fire was immediately quelled by the serene demeanor of Mr. Eric, the owner and proprietor of this fine establishment. He assured me that he would have my car smogged in no time and could repair any issues that he found. Now I haven't had a good experience with a mechanic of any sort since my long time guy, Wally back in Truth or Consequences, NM was tragically crushed by car. He wasn't even at work! He was walking next to a bridge and the dang thing just careened over it and landed right on him! Wally survived but his head was never the same shape again and as you could imagine, he lost his desire to work on cars after that. Anyways, back to Sanction Smog..... So it turned out that snitch was onto something and my car really was leaking smog. I needed a new something or other and Mr. Eric was willing to fix it for me. He said I could come back later to pick it up but I opted to wait around in his garden section, surrounded by all the beautiful plants to remind me of the nature I'm missing by living in this concrete prison that is Southern California. While I was waiting for the repairs to be done I chatted with his assistant, a long lanky fellow named Cletus Bronson. Cletus was extremely knowledgeable about the plants, one in particular, but disappeared before I left so I was never able to thank him for keeping me occupied. Once Mr. Eric was finished and presented me with the bill, I was shocked by how reasonable it was. Normally I'm used to being charged something akin to my first born son or at the very least, my fourth born daughter's virginity for something like this. My first born son wasn't on the table mind you. He's 31 and it would be tough explaining to his wife and kids why he's no longer around but grandpa has a car that suddenly runs well. My fourth daughter tho, she was an option but being totally honest she's not much of a looker so I'd probably still have to pay a little out of pocket.( Lots of moles and patches of hair where they shouldn't be. I think her mama was part alpaca. Helluva trip to Peru tho). And yes, I have a lot of kids and no I'm not Catholic. I just barter a lot and having lots of spare parts to deal away benefits my lifestyle, not that it's any of your business. What SHOULD be your business tho is how good Sanction Smog is as a business! I cannot recommend them enough and Mr. Eric even gave me a nifty coupon for my next visit! My children will thank him and so will my children's children! read more

Took in my 2008 Honda Accord for smog and due to having had just changed out my battery. We needed to drive the vehicle around at least 200 miles before we where able to get it to smog . So don't be surprised if they tell you that your vehicle is not ready. Great customer service and very informative. read more

Came for a smog check. "Inspector" Eric blatantly lied to my face saying it was smog checked. However, the paper printout stated that the car was NOT READY for a smog check, indicating it was never put through the smog check process. Nonetheless, Eric still insisted on charging me $60!!
