I don't know what happened to this place. I have been bring in my car for smog for years even when I did not need it at Star station. This place used to be nice, friendly, efficient, and most of all gave me 10% off every time even if I forget to bring the coupon. This time, the price just went to $60.00 from $45.00 and the guy refused my coupon (I remembered to bring the coupon this time) and crossed out the coupons on the new receipt. He was pissed because his boss did not give him a raise (Not my issue). I did not want to argue so I paid and left. Please shop around. I bring 5 cars here a year. I use to pay $29 plus certs ($40) out the door. Today. Guy charged me $41 plus certs making it an even $50. I gave him a 10% off coupon but he said he can't apply it unless he charges me full price of $55 plus certs. Makes no damn sense. I then provided him w last year receipt showing $40 Total and he said I don't know who did that and start saying it's wrong. Come on old man. Guess It'll be the last time coming here. Had my truck smogged by the older gentleman and had a very bad experience recently. I show up and he is on the phone smoking a cigarette inside the garage. He started telling me my gas cap was cracked. I ask him where at and he points to a part of the gas cap that is not cracked. Gas cap passed.. Then he throws the end of the compressor nozzle in back of my freshly painted truck. I was like wow did he just do that? Left a lil scratch. Then he tells me I passed everything except evap test. Not wanting to get my truck scratched anymore I went to another smog shop that looked more professional and passed everything. Felt like going back and showing him my test but was like I'll just review the place instead.. I'm glad I didn't drop my gas tank to look for a non issue with the evap.. I think the younger guy does a better job but he wasn't there.. read more

I recently moved to Irvine from San Diego, and I was having a difficult time finding a reasonably priced smog check station.. I lucked out on this one. I paid about $45 total, whereas if I went to my dealer it would've been $70 and $50 [not including certificate and certificate transmission fees] at other Irvine stations. I called ahead to get pricing, and the man who helped me [Danny] was very helpful and friendly. I decided to try my luck. Service was quick, and Danny was awesome! Such a nice man. I would definitely recommend his services, and I am certain I will be back in 2 years for my next smog check. read more

Wow this place has gone down hill. Came here today and the gentleman who runs the business is barely able to do the job anymore. He wouldn't complete my smog because he was unable to read a serial code on my car. After I tried to read the numbers out to him to help he walked away yelling no no no, I can't trust what you say, then proceeded to fail my smog test and would not refund my money. He told me I would need to call the manufacturer for them to confirm the serial number. I did just that, while on speaker phone, and had the lady speak to him. He told them okay, and I hung up thinking this was over. He continued to refuse me and said they had to call him directly to his work phone. Unsure if the man is a racist or just senile. I do not recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

Honestly just stay away. Will give you the most asinine reasons to why your car won't pass when it does. The guy talks crap about everyone else, and he even gave me and my friends crud because we drive Mitsubishi! What an a hole. His coupons are absolute lies and if you have a car that has an engine cover, he will charge an additional 10 bucks or more for removal of under 7 screws. If you're a person like me, that has barely any modifications, he will swear you won't pass smog. Even though my cold air intake has an EO number lololol. Ridiculous really! My dad has been going here way before I could drive. I finally got a car, a mitsubishi 3000gt and this guy just gave me crap how much of a pos it is and how unreliable they are blah blah blah, how it won't pass and don't take it to alex at ampm cuz he is a Dumb a--. So inspite of him, I take it to alex for repairs. Next day it passes at a & m with my intake and Alexs help. Basically gave me an my dad crap for it and didn't want to smog it at first. My dad was yelling at this guy to quit complaining and to do the job he was paid. My dad has been taking my car here for a while, so I decided to get my smog test done myself (because I finally have time) here as well. I braced myself due to some negative reviews. Anthony (Tony) helped me out. It took less than 20 minutes and I paid $48. He sent the results to the DMV electronically. I needed to get my car smog tested, so I called A&M because they were the closest to me. So, I call and tell the guy what the vechicle is and ask for a price. He tells me $40. I drive there and he has my car ideling while I sit waiting. He never puts a probe in the tail pipe or even puts my car on the dyno. About 10 minutes later he says it's done, and passed the smog test. He fills out the paperwork and tells me that'll be $58 dollars? I tell him, I just got off the phone with you, and you told me $40. He says, ok $40 dollars. Weird! Ultimately, I got the smog certificate, but I know the test wasn't legit. read more

The gentleman that owns and operates this shop is really straightforward and I could see how it could not sit well with some. However, the service I received from him was excellent. I failed the first time and accidentally forgot my paperwork for my retest when I returned and he worked it out with me so I didn't have to go find it. I found in the Penny Saver a coupon for Smog check $29.95. It said, any models and years. I called other places and every where else is about $50. I went to this place which is kind of hidden, behind the Jiffy Lube. You go through a door and it's a room with a few plastic folded chairs. No signs, nothing. I only found it because the address number matched. I had to walk through and look for someone in the garage. There was a korean man sitting there. I told him I needed a check and brought in the coupon. He asked what kind of car I had. 2004 Infiniti G35. He said it'll have to be $39.95 Why? Because my car requires the cover to be taken off of my engine. WTF. He opened my hood to show me. I saw 4 screws he needed to screw off. I told him that I can unscrew it for you. WTF. It was really irritating. Then the smog certificate cost an extra 8 bucks, then the tax..it totaled like 52 bucks. even though it was quick....it's the whole principality of it. After reading several positive reviews on yelp, I felt confident about patronizing this center (I recently moved to the area and did not feel like commuting to the station I had always used previously). Unfortunately, I was told by the man running the test that my vehicle did not pass and the reason was as ludicrous as it gets (that someone had tried to bypass the "check engine" light by unhooking the battery then rehooking it up; that did not not happen and I knew that for a fact). I asked for more clarification and was told I'd have to have the computer reset before it would pass (FYI the check engine light was NOT on and hadn't been since before my last smog test 2 yrs ago). My friend has an auto shop (he's the only one who works on my truck & he knew he hadn't attempted to bypass any notification lights) so I took it to him & the diagnostic said everything was perfect. Took it to my "usual" station & had it tested; it passed with flying colors. Basically, the man at A&M was trying to ripoff a seemingly vulnerable 7-month pregnant woman (me).
