Catalytic converter on car was laser etched with authorized State of CA, Air Resource Board Executive Order D-562-75 (see photo). J & B Smog Conveniently located in the small plaza between different auto shops. The process is actually simple and fast. The technician is friendly and funny. You can ask for discount if you pay cash. A little secret I've found out. Every 2 years we need to have the smog test based on the requirement of the law. And there are many different places that you can do so and the prices are also different. This is one of the cheapest I have found. In other places, you end up paying somewhere around $70 and here I pay $55. A little saving for the gas, not bad. It is usually not busy because the process is quite fast. Bring your document and it can be done within 10 minutes or so. Recommended. Even though the office does to look fancy, but you don't stay too long anyways. read more

After a decidely unkosher smog test experience at Purrfect Auto Service in Artesia, where they said I failed the visual inspection & needed a new exhaust manifold, transmission, O2 sensor, yadda yadda yadda - I looked for a new STAR station to have a smog test done for my truck. Mom recommended I go here, so J & B it is! With a small parking lot shared by several businesses, J & B is a quaint, STAR test-only station. With only 1 customer ahead of me & being a walk-in, I watched a little bit of the World Cup (Mexico vs. Cameroon) before my vehicle would be serviced. After about a 10-15 min wait from the previous customer to my truck being completed, my truck passed & my paperwork sent to the DMV. $60 for the test, which isn't the cheapest, but I was highly satisfied with the results & speed of service. Mr. Kim prefers cash or check over debit/credit, so try to oblige him and he'll get you going in no time. J & B Smog, you now have a loyal customer!
