He told me to wait by the chairs while he performed the smog check . He also offered me a cold bottle of water, which I accepted on this hot afternoon. I took my parent's vehicle into Mr C's for a smog test and Sam, the owner, greeted me with a smile and explained the details and cost for test and certificate. He immediately got started on smog test right outside of the garage, in front of me, while I sat outside in the shade under an umbrella in a very comfortable chair at the 2 seat bistro table. There are more chairs inside the garage to sit in while you wait if you prefer. Sam is very friendly and professional, and has a warm, welcoming manner. Also, if I go back there, it's going to be $39.95 which comes to a total of $89.90 which is $90.00. I left feeling hurt, angry, and upset. I don't have the money at this time to pay $90.00. Came on my day off, only about a 5 minute wait because there was one car in front of me. Waited about 5 minutes after the guy gets my car, asks me if my converter has been stolen before (I drive a Prius). I tell him yes, and I had a catalytic converter shield installed. The guy thus tells me that he can't do the smog check service for me because he needs to be able to see the converter. I get slightly upset, but he told me he can't do anything so I guess that was it. Cool, we move on. I figure, hey, I'm already out of the house, so I go to another spot about 15 minutes away (also about 5-ish stars on Yelp) and they finish and sign off like there was zero problems. Takes less than 5 minutes since there was even no wait.
