After being a loyal customer for over 20 years, I am disgusted by the new management. They half-assed my previous oil change and it's going to cost me around $900 to repair. I requested a call back from his supervisor to explain why they'd lost a long-term customer. He didn't bother to call. I followed a prior manager, whom I trust, to his new location. He is matching the price that Lowell Automatic Transmission quoted. Additionally, they destroyed the tinting I paid to have installed on my windshield by scraping off their oil change sticker over the years. They could have easily placed the sticker right below the tinting. In this day and age of social media and customer reviews, one would think that they'd take better care to keep their customers happy. One would be incorrect. By a landslide. They are, by far, the most reputable, trustworthy and reasonable shop I've ever been to. Last year I brought my car there after 2 other mechanics AND Lannan Chevrolet couldn't diagnose an issue (but charged me labor to 'try to figure it out') and they figured out that all I needed was a transfer case flush and they fixed it in no time flat. My car broke in Lowell. AAA got me to Lowell Automatic Transmission who I had never heard of and at the time had no yep reviews. I though the damage would be so severe, I would need to sell my car. Instead they called the next day with a $240 quote. It was done later that night with no issues. I actually paid $228 which is less than the quote. When does that ever happen? Anyways, assuming my wheel doesn't fall off in the next couple of days, that was an ideal auto repair experience. I couldn't be happier. I was on a 12 hour road trip when just an hour and a half away from my destination, I blew two tires on the side of I-495 in Lowell. Not familiar with the area, I called AAA and they said they could only bring me to the garage within 3 miles. Lowell Automatic Transmission could have taken advantage of me, but instead they treated us with nothing but respect. They took my car in right at 7 am when they opened, quickly and efficiently changed out my tires, and put out about 4 calls looking for my exact rims when they noticed I needed 2 new ones. They charged me a completely fair price, and were totally honest. I have never had a better experience at a garage than I did here. I would recommend them every time to a friend. read more

My car broke down on 495 in Lowell and I was towed to this location by AAA otherwise I would never have brought my car here. When I arrived at 2pm on Friday they said they were busy and wouldn't have time to look at my car until Monday so I said I would have the AAA tow guy bring it somewhere else since it wasn't off the flatbed yet. They said no and he would take a look at it. They dragged out the replacement of my fuel pump until Tuesday afternoon. I had to get a rental car to continue on to Maine and then return to Western Mass on Sunday so I could work on Monday. I was quoted $700 on Friday, and again on Monday (which would have put labor at $231/hr with $118 of parts) yet the amount of parts needed and hours of labor changed from Friday to Monday. This change in cost and hours miraculously now justified the original $700 quote. My boyfriend was nice enough to get a ride out to Lowell from Holyoke after getting done with work Tuesday morning and wait for it. They left it up on the lift all day and my boyfriend only saw them work on it for 30 minutes. So after 4 days the bill was $700 for something my boyfriend and I could have done in no more than 5 hours in our driveway for $120 in parts. read more

I am not happy with this place anymore because they started out pretty good and then seem to change after I had repeat visits for different services. I felt that the service was slower and that I was being ignored and somewhat being taking advantage of being a female . I mention to the Doug that I think I have a problem with the steering column area or whatever you call it and he stated nothing is wrong. Well let me tell you people a few months down the road my vehicle stop and I could not go anywhere so I hand to have my vehicle towed to this place and was told the next day that I needed to replace the transfer case so $ 1400.00 later I had to have transfer case replaced (used) and I don't think that anything was done at all because only after a few months my vehicle is starting to feel like I have the same problem . I had my front brakes done two weeks ago somewhere else and on my invoice, there was a note that transfer case is noisy and has one bolt missing. I guess my $1400.00 didn't cover all the bolts. So listen up people DON'T get any work done at this place. Also, don't buy any cars from the Chelmsford St Auto Sales which is right in front of this place which I did and I was lied to my the salesman Jon Keene who said to me that I have a 5/yr of 100 thousand mile warranty wrong I only had 30 months and 50 thousand mile warranty . Boy did I learn my lesson from this and I hope that by me writing this review this helps you from having the same experience that I had? I dropped my car off to have the transmission looked at, few hours later the general manager called me to explain the problem. He says -there is a problem with the computer in this type of vehicle, and the transmission is slipping. Changing the computer usually only fixes the problem in 10% of these vehicles and usually have to replace the transmission as well. Gave me a estimate of $6,000 to complete both jobs. Not really worth fixing a 13 yr old car with 140,000 miles for that much right? So i was then immediately introduced to the sales manager who offered me $1,000 on the trade in and that "was being nice". After looking at a couple vehicles and wasting time, took my car home and researched the problem and found multiple service bulletins for the issue. As suggested by the bulletins I bought the computer online, for $150. It took my boyfriend an hour to install it. Guess what? The car is now 100% sound, absolutely nothing wrong with the transmission. So where did the $6,000 estimate come from? I believe they high balled the estimate and over exaggerated the problem in order to gain a new sale. Nice Try. read more
