Crispy mushrooms The tom kha soup is light and super flavorful, loved every sip of it! The soy protein inside of the green forest is super tasty and my mom was impressed by the presentation of the dish itself. She even thought the soy protein was beef, lol. I've ordered the eggplant and tofu dish before, I remember it having more of a kick however this time the spices were toned down a bit. Nonetheless, the sauce is amazing with or without that kick! I wish I lived closer so I could eat here often. I ordered for pickup a while back, and I still think of it and want to go back. The staff was SO friendly, with a super nice welcome and kindly checking if I needed utensils. So many of the menu items looked good but I finally settled on the Lemon Beauty. They gave me so much extra sauce, at first I thought they'd mistakenly included a soup in my order! It was very tasty - a sweet citrus. I love Loving Hut and have been coming to this location since they opened 10+ years ago after I got word from Vegetarian House they were opening a similar restaurant closer to Fremont. As far as the food goes, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu and it's wonderful for vegans to have an *entire menu* to choose from without worry. My favorite dishes here are.... well, pretty much everything! The expansive menu covers most types of Asian cuisine and even has pasta, burgers and fish & chips if that's your thing. If I were only reviewing the food, I would give this place 5 stars but.... The service. Granted we're being served by college kids most of the time, the service is pretty lousy and quite awkward at times. I'm not sure why this place always gives forks by default and when I ask for chopsticks, they bring only one pair when I'm sitting with other people? (Yes, I've learned since then to specify # pair of chopsticks...). The price & portion. This place has changed management a few times and which is turn, I feel like the prices are hiked up another dollar and the portion size shrinks. The most notable dish I saw this in was the Spicy Cha Cha. This used to be big plate piled high, with full-sized yam crescent shrimp for $11.99. Now for $13.99, you get half the number of yam crescent shrimp, and the shrimps are slivered in half!! So really, you're getting 1/4 the volume as this dish once used to come, and you're paying $2 more. To me, the current owner is really cost-cutting and has really scaled down on portion sizes while upping the prices. Next dish would be the Healthy Brown Rice. There was a time this dish was "Healthy Red Rice", which (don't quote me on this) is supposedly a more nutritious type of grain and also came piled high, loaded with pinenuts, toasted sesame, seaweed and diced veg. Now I would say it's half the volume with substantially less fixings and served with brown rice instead of red rice. They switched to a less costly grain, decreased portion size and increased the price. Loving Hut definitely is a novelty vegan spot, and the food is seriously delicious, but I can't help be feel incredibly unsettled about the cost-cutting in ingredients and portion-size especially when I know how things used to be. I get that the Bay Area is expensive, but to see how much this specific location is cost-cutting is almost insulting. Going back to Vegetarian House, I definitely do not see the same trend going on there. Some prices have changed but the portion sizes are still the same, so I don't get that same feeling of being ripped off. This was my first time at a vegan restaurant, so I was very excited! I had high hopes of being tricked into eating something so delicious, but surprise! It's not made of meat. Oh, tricked I was. My friend and I ordered the Rolling Tango ($12.95 - soy protein strips with crispy coating and broccoli in house special sauce) which would be the vegan equivalent to beef and broccoli stir fry. Their house special sauce made me say, "OMG, this is so good!!!" We also ordered the Three Cup Tofu (12.95 - tofu, mushroom, garlic, ginger, chili, red bell pepper and basil braised in their house special sauce). This dish did not make an impression on me. It wasn't bad at all, but I wasn't reaching for it. I would've been happy with just eating the Rolling Tango. A small bowl of rice (enough to share for two people) is $2. Who says you can't enjoy vegan cuisine? Amazing is to say the least. I came here on a Saturday evening and there was one or two people who came in and out, while I was making my order. I got my order in 20 minutes, and though that may seem long, it was pretty worth it for the flavor of everything. Food: Saigon Rolls: The flavor in these rolls are pretty good! However, I wasn't a fan of the rice noodles in these. They were a bit too grainy for me. I felt like I had to douse it in the peanut sauce, which helped a lot. Garden Stirfry: I loved the mixture of veggies in this dish. The vegan ham was a great addition and I loved the flavor of the sauce. It was so good, I put some on my rice, so I could eat it with my veggies. Lucky Lemongrass: This. was. my. favorite. I really liked the flavor in this dish and the lemongrass really stood out. It had a nice crisp to it. I think for some people they may think the crisp, is dry, but honestly, the flavoring really overpowers this anyway. So my friend decided to go vegetarian one day and left a limited number of options. I tried the Loving Hut at the Valley Fair mall and was disappointed with the wonton noodles soup. It was swimming in sesame oil to give it the meat flavor in the broth. We decided on the wonton in chili oil, mapo tofu, and pad Thai noodles. It was all great but a little greasy. Again it was to make up for the lack of meat flavor. Plus the price is very reasonable. All in all I recommend it as one of the better vegetarian restaurants. I'd never really intentionally tried vegan food before coming here, so I was hoping there was enough flavor and texture in the food for me. I got the Saigon rolls and the lucky lemongrass yesterday, and today I got the Saigon rolls again, as well as some wonton noodle soup. The Saigon rolls are delicious! They have vegan shrimp made out of yams, shredded carrots, rice noodles, and greens. The flavor combined with the peanut sauce is amazing. ~$7 They ran out of the crispy mushrooms, so the guy at the register recommended the lucky lemongrass. The lucky lemongrass is fried vegan nuggets covered in little bits of lemongrass and chopped red and green peppers on some iceberg lettuce. At first glance, the nuggets looked kind of like cardboard, but they surprisingly tasted a lot like chicken. They also came with a chili sauce that I didn't use much of. ~$14 The wonton noodle soup came with five or so wontons, a lot of noodles, sliced mushroom, and bok choy. Amazing food! I'm not even vegan/vegetarian but I still loved the food! I love the steam buns there. The buns are soft/fluffy with a flavorful, sweet paste inside. I also had the famous spicy ramen there. The portion sizes are generous. I expected a ramen for one but it was enough for a group of 3 The Rolling Tango was crunchy, mildly spicy. I liked that they added broccoli with it. Waiting time for the food was surprisingly shorter than other restaurants I went to. I noticed in one review they mentioned the food's not healthy enough for them bc of oil/fried food, but I thought the oil was reasonable. If you want very healthy food, maybe make a salad at home instead of dining out. If you want an enjoyable outing with friends, this is a relaxing place to eat good food. read more

The tastiness/value of the dishes may vary, but there are some gotos that never disappoint me: 1. Anything with veggie fish (Clay Pot Sensation, Sea Fruit Grill, Golden Beach) 2. Mango cake (and other cakes) 3. Spring Roll/Saigon Rolls 4. Tom Kha Thai Soup (get this togo and add more foodstuffs inside to eat as hotpot!) 5. Miso Ramen (There's so much soup and noodles in a single portion!) 6. Not worth the price (esp since they only offer takeout): 1. Seaweed Hand Rolls: It's like a really fresh salad in seaweed, but there's only 1 piece for $7. The seaweed gets soft if you don't eat immediately, not worth it if you are going to eat later. 2. Beijing Noodle: Compared to the other items on the menu, this item is not as flavorful. The noodles are the plain kind, so they clump after taking the food home. 3. Ma Po Tofu: this is more the Taiwanese (?) style meaning it doesn't have enough of the numbing spiciness. It's still a really tasty spicy tofu, but not going to scratch the itch for Sichuan peppercorn numbness. read more

I didn't realize this was the same name brand of vegan restaurant that is in the mall. I came here with a friend and I was blown away by the choices available on the menu. Really wide selection of food and drinks. We ordered some spring rolls, curry, and pho. We also had vegan Thai iced tea, which is quite hard to find even in places that have vegetarian options. The staff was nice and friendly. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because I wish many of the dishes can be altered (aka spice level-- we asked for no spice on my friend's curry but it still came with spiciness to it) along with their ability to take out some ingredients due to allergies. The golden treasure (orange "chicken") is always great and pairs well with either white rice or fried rice. I would say a lot of the menu items are the same but flavored with a different sauce but hey, I'm not complaining, it's delicious either way. I tried the cake they had displayed and it was AMAZING. Their chow fun was pretty good too, cooked to perfection and flavored just right. The service was friendly and quick. Even when we ordered a large tray for a pot luck. The place looks a little out dated but that's ok, I was here for the food. Dang, this place is yummy! There are so many things on the menu that I want to try--I'm not if I'll ever run out. I originally visited a Loving Hut location in a mall, and I quite enjoyed it. I was spending the afternoon in Milpitas and spotted this place nearby, so I looked into it, thinking it might be the same sort of food court style. But the number of options was incredible! We got the spring rolls to start. These were my least favorite thing but they were still tasty. The inside was pretty mushy. For my meal, I got the Rolling Tango and asked for it not to be spicy. The sauce still had a tiny kick, but not too bad. Wow, it was so good! The faux meat had a great texture, and the batter on it wasn't greasy or too heavy. Smartly, they put the sauce on the side so that it wouldn't make the meat pieces soggy. The broccoli was just okay--seemed like just a few pieces of hastily steamed broccoli thrown in, almost like decoration. My partner got the crispy mushroom, and they were tasty as well. All of the food was almost equally as good the next day, too! I'll definitely revisit if I'm around. read more

Been here countless time really enjoyed their gluten free meals. Service has been extremely wonderful and always pleasant with the staff. Some days I usually come by myself or with co-workers during lunch and sometimes it can be busy so coming after peak hours it would be wise. Their menu is very extensive mostly vegan and they do serve burgers, fish and chips even oatmeal. I came here right when it was about to close, and I'm glad they let me in. I would say there is too notch service at Loving Hut. All the workers are friendly and cool to talk to, and food preparation is fast and quick. Honestly, this is one of the few times I tried Vegan food and it was delicious. The waiter recommended me the Green Forest and I liked it a lot. The soy meat didn't taste much different from real meat, the vegetables were easy to chew, and the sauce enhanced the taste to be a little more sweet. With a good impression of people and food, Loving Hut is the best Vegan (even though I don't go to many) restaurant so far! read more

I came here with my friends since I had a Groupon and we wanted to eat something light, but loving hut was unfortunately not as light as we wished it would be. The Groupon was $15 for $25 with if food, we ordered the Thai soup appetizer, the rolling tango, three cup mix, and the eggplant dish. The people whom work here seemed a bit out of it, as if they were really tired or rushed. They weren't very friendly either, a bit unapproachable. The Thai soup appetizer, and rolling tango were my favorite dishes. The Thai soup was hot, slightly creamy, and had a great tangy taste. The rolling tango was cooked in their house special sauce, and also sweet and spicy. The soy chicken tasted delicious since it was deep fried and saucy. The eggplant dish was covered in oil, the eggplant was so slick that when I took it home I poured aLayer of oil out. I would not come here again unless I had a Groupon since the service was a bit strange and the food was a bit too sweet for my tAste. I do want to try the vegan bun bo hue though. read more

Holy moly.. why didn't I become a lacto-ovo vegetarian (on the weekdays) sooner? I came here last Friday w/ my Daughter and was so surprised that everything I ordered was extremely delicioso. We started off w/ golden nuggets (breaded soy), she had the pho, and I ordered the Heavenly Salad (indeed heavenly because I was so happy after I took my first bite), and an order of Szechuan Tofu w/ a side of brown rice. The tofu was tasty, the breaded soy did not taste gross (I assumed it would), and most importantly, the salad was BOMB. Imagine the best ever slaw (minus the mayonnaise) and times it by 10. I had 2 pieces of the breaded soy, half of my salad, and 4 bites out of the tofu and rice and was blown away by the taste (it tasted awesome) and my will to stay w/in my means (portion) as I'm trying to lose some weight. A highly rated vegan Thai place raises your expectations. But looks like you should always keep an open mind and not play with expectations. We did a take out.   1. Placed order on phone. Person was courteous to take order and just hung up. No name on order taken; no ETA of getting prepped. Was very weird. Called them back to confirm the time. 2. Went to pick up. The location is within south Asian shopping complex. The name of loving hut appears to spill over another business and the actual entrance is located under a Korean sign. The food was a thorough disappointment end to end, absolutely no taste or flavor. We got the following:   1.3 Spicy wonton - Slimiest wonton. Forget spice, there was no flavor inside them. Was supposed to have Soy protein, cabbage, onion and ginger. All we could see was bland soy protein. The house special spicy sauce was just chili in oil. No flavor. 1.7 Spring roll - Tasted fine. Sauce was good. 2.1 Tom kha - Extremely unusual texture. Not sure what kind of coconut milk was inside it. Had fillings such as pineapple, shrimp, tofu and veggies. 3.9 Crispy mushroom - Very deceptive description. This is dry dish with no sauce. The mushrooms were void of any flavor. The accompanying sauce was too sour. 3.17 Kung pao tofu - Had some flavor but was nothing special. There was no rice with the dish. 6.8 Pad Thai - One of the most bland noodle dish I ever had. Couldn't believe anyone could mess pad Thai which can be flavored in so many different ways.   Were I dining in, would have returned every dish but take out has it own course. This is my favorite Loving Hut location in the South Bay to go to. I always order their crispy mushrooms and their sea fruit grill... so good! I've also tried their queens and spicy cha cha and those are yummy as well. As part of Lent, I cannot eat meat (with the exception of seafood) on Wednesdays and Friday until after Easter. This gives me the opportunity to explore vegetarian/vegan fare. Loving Hut kept popping up on my Yelp searches, so why the heck not. We went to the lovely 99 Ranch Plaza in McCarthy Ranch. It's on the right side near Fantasia, if you're wanting to know the general area where to park. Well we enter the building and they have to-go desserts and other items displayed. To the left is the dining area. Pretty modern with colored printed glass decoration. Nothing what you expect for a Vegan Chinese Restaurant. There are tv screens on the walls showing the same channel the other Chinese vegan restaurants. Interesting propaganda. Of course it's just pure interesting, but a little off putting as you're trying to eat. Anyways, we decided on the Flying Buddha Soup and the Golden Era. The food came fairly quickly and the service was very attentive. The food was great. The soup was light and flavorful and just heaven in my mouth. The Golden Era was a crispy delight. If you're wanting crispy, this thing is crispy. The lemon dip reminded me of the lemon pepper I put on my chicken nanban. MMMMM nanban. I can't find that anywhere. I am a big time non-veg food loving person to begin with. This is the first time ever I had a vegan cuisine and man I loved it. Definitely with shelter in place, I get tired of cooking all the time so once in a while I like to indulge in some different variety of food and hence "loving hut" popped up in one of my searches. I'm so glad I found these guys!! I browsed through the reviews and ordered the popular ones: General tso, pad thai , and gourmet fried rice- they're really good !! They were yum and savory. Don't let the vegetarian, vegan tag fool you, good is as flavorful as they come even without the addition of meat. The mix/blend of spices, saltiness and overall bombastic flavor was everything I needed after a LONG and EXHAUSTING day. Ordering everything from the Katsu, fries and spring rolls to the Vegetarian Bún bò Huế, which was so tasty and light that I should've ordered another one! Parking was a breeze, since we beat the lunch rush, and we were able to snag a table, since we beat the lunch rush. While service was friendly, we did notice that the restaurant was a tad understaffed with only two waiters manning the floor that day. Pacing certainly veered towards the slow side so keep that in mind if you're coming by on a time crunch. For our lunch, we ordered my favorite dish, the rolling tango, as well as the panang curry and two portions of white rice. Both entrees came out at once and smelled divine. The panang curry caught my eye first with its bright, creamy color as well as the plentiful assortment of vegetables such as eggplant, snow peas, broccoli, and carrots. The tofu was cooked well, soft without being mushy, and the curry was fragrant without being overpowering. The hubby thought it tasted just as good as the curries you would find in Thai restaurants. However, the favorite was definitely the rolling tango, a dish of protein strips fried in peppers and a special sauce that is both savory and sweet. Even though it might not be the healthiest, the hubby and I ignored the guilt and munched away with abandon. Those protein strips were delightfully crispy and that sauce was mouth watering. Second time here. New dishes. SAME DANKNESS. This time we were glad to not sit behind a snobby, entitled customer. We were seated promptly. Water came as we sat. Waiter Understood that we were hungry and took our appetizer order to the kitchen. He came back once we were ready to order WITH OUR APPETIZER. Waiter even asked if we wanted rice with our curry since we forgot to mention it (how sweet!). They cleared our table everytime we finished a plate. My friend and I stumbled upon this humble abode when we were desperate for food since Pepper lunch was as always packed and not ready to accommodate 2 hungry girls. We ordered the fried tofu appetizer, which is similar to agedashi tofu-- yum! The spring rolls have peanut sauce on the side for dipping. Crispy mushroom delight has crisp basil! It arrives in mountain form drizzled with a sweet, sticky dark sauce that pools slightly at the bottom. The crispy fried rice is cooked in a small clay pot and is mixed with typical veggies like carrots, cabbage, bokchoy, plus mushrooms and tofu. One thing I didn't care for is the vegan version of pho-- broth is good but with all of the food we ordered we couldn't really enjoy this. It had rice noodles, tofu, mushrooms, bean sprouts, more veggies and soy protein that at first glance looks strangely like beef. Because I'm an omnivore I probably won't be back unless it's to order the crispy fried rice and mushroom delight for carry out. But this place has completely changed my outlook on the vegan food. May be it fried rice or noodles, they were delicious. Queens was the best among the dishes. Used a groupon here. Didn't have any issues. Service was great, they re-filled water frequently. They did forget to completely give us my bf's Thai Tea but we decided to forget it and didn't remind them anyway. Ordered the following: Spring Rolls - not my favorite. I didn't get any tofu flavor at all and it was a bit mushy. Would pass next time. Tom Kha Thai Soup - enjoyed this. The coconut cream definitely made this a bit creamy. Had a kick. The fake shrimp were pretty tasty and the tofu good. Tasted great with white rice. Kung Pao - those vegan nuggets were pretty good with this. Had a good crispy texture. Nice flavor.
