Went with my boyfriend at 5:15pm on a Friday for their happy hour special. There were about three groups there other than us. We each got a drink, I had an Aperol Spritz and he got an Espresso Martini for $8 each. The spritz was delicious. However, the espresso martini was not good, at all. It came from a premixed tap and tasted extremely bitter, like stale old coffee. My boyfriend and I have both had many espresso martinis (including making our own) and this was by far the worst. We were genuinely questioning if it was spoiled and could not drink more than 2 sips each. On to some highlights - the happy hour buffalo wings ($6) were delicious and very large. We also got a hh smashburger with fries and went back for a second one because it was so good! Overall, it was a good experience. I would just avoid the espresso martini next time! read more

I'm updating my review- sue me it's a free country imma do what I want I still fucking love it here. Whenever I get pissed off I start drinking dirty martinis. Don't ask me why, but somehow that's become my I'm mad drink. Tequila would make more sense but this is who I am. I was in here one night pissed and started to order a dirty martini, but saw they did a savory martini and figured I should try it. Dude it was insane it's so good. I now also drink them when I'm not mad, they're that good. The tuna melt slaps. Please get it. It's the best and only tuna melt I've ever had I don't know if it's still on their menu but if it is you have to get it because it would make Ilya Rozanov proud. read more

I've been wanting to check out Love's Alibi after seeing a glowing review of their smash burger and being intrigued. I'm not even a big burger gal, but this one looked very good. I stopped in for dinner and was greeted by a sign saying to seat yourself and order at the bar. Already this was a little off putting because I brought a small group here for dinner, not to drink but oh well. They have a limited food menu but I was interested in all of it, and walked up to the bar to order. It took a minute for anyone to acknowledge me which was a bit annoying since it wasn't really busy, but thankfully once I finally got the attention of the bartender I didn't have any other service issues. While we waited on our food I observed the space and it's just a little odd. I think they worked with the previous restaurant space but something about the red, round tables and clear, frosted tile gave off an outdated, weird 80's vibe. It just didn't feel like a place I'd want to hang out to be honest. I had the lemongrass margarita and ordered a Diet Coke for my non-drinker dad. The Diet Coke came in a can with a side cup of ice. I thought it was kind of odd that a bar didn't have a soda gun. The margarita was good, but I didn't really taste the lemongrass. So far my experience wasn't blowing me away, but when the food came I was very pleased with the smash burger and fries. It was nicely cooked and came with a small side of ketchup. The fries were tasty too but we had to ask for more ketchup and napkins since we didn't get any silverware or napkins (so back we went to the bar to get these - the lack of table service is annoying). The fried chicken sandwich was also excellent and nicely seasoned; though the menu said it had spicy ranch which I thought would be the sauce, but instead I think it was the seasoning for the chicken batter. I didn't taste any heat, but it had a good flavor. Unfortunately the zucchini frites were not good. They were thick and extremely soggy with no crispiness to them at all. The aioli was very good but the frites just fell apart when you tried to eat them. I wouldn't recommend. Overall, the burger and chicken sandwich were the highlights. I do want to try the popcorn chicken and wings but would probably opt for a quick bite here at happy hour and not a place to hang out after eating. read more

Nashville's Best Craft Cocktail Happy Hour! The Happy Hour here is from 3-5 DAILY, and during Happy Hour, they serve the best $8 Old Fashioned in town. I do not say this lightly. I tried 2 of them just to be sure. The $8 Happy Hour menu also includes a Daiquiri, a Negroni, and House Wine. There is also a very intriguing bar food menu. I'm hoping to try some food next time I visit. Maybe the Blackened Mushroom Hand Pie or the Sweet Potato Gnocchi! Love's Alibi is a Bar that serves delicious cocktails and also has some food. It is not a restaurant. But, it is exactly what the Gulch needs right now, especially with Gertie's recently closing. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the decor reminds me of a 1970's Detroit Cocktail Lounge with lots of booths and small tables behind private nooks. Parking is tough in the Gulch, but I would recommend the garage behind Superica. But, let's be honest; you'll be drinking if you come here, so please Uber. Love's Alibi is definitely worth trying. I am absolutely obsessed with this spot, and I wish I knew about it when I lived in Nashville full-time! The vibe is absolutely immaculate, it's moody and pink and intimate. But they also had the garage windows open to let in the fresh warm air. The bartender was so super cool and I absolutely loved their energy. Super on top of it and made our drinks lightning fast, too. The seating is awesome, lots of great comfy corners and booth spots that makes it cozy. We just missed happy hour (theirs ends at 5) and they have limited daily specials, but I was still quite pleased with the prices considering the area. With the caveat it was a Monday bank holiday evening, it wasn't too crowded and didn't get loud. The music was a good background playlist at a decent level where we could still talk but it contributed to the ambiance. It was the perfect spot to nurse a couple of drinks and chat for a while comfortably. The photobooth is also super fun! The strips came out really cute. It's $7 and you get two copies. This is definitely going to be one of my go-to spots whenever I'm back in town! read more

I've got to give this five stars because of everyone that works there and their quality and dedication of what they do! The drinks were poured by real mixologist, Bryan with a Y knows his stuff. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to eat there because we were going to the jazz club but will certainly get back next week. Bryan let us know about the high-level of quality they put into the hamburgers that they're famous for. Ranked third in the area. Aside from that, I had a couple of espresso martinis that were poured from the premix and gotta say it, very very good. The atmosphere was really cool and quirky but well fought out. This place is probably best at night with the moody lighting. The happy hour was nice for the price but I do wish they had more options. The daiquiri was really good as was the milk punch. The little side of rosé with it was cute but probably not necessary. The espresso martini is very intense. Only get it if you love coffee. This place has big United Nations for Troubled Relationships energy. Neutral territory. No sides. Just vibes. The lettuce-wrapped shrimp situation had capers in it, and I just want to ask, why? Who invited them? What trauma led to this decision? It tasted confusing. Not bad. Just, existential. The cheeseburger is aggressively acidic. Like the chef might be emotionally invested in Sour Patch Kids. First it's sour, then it's still sour. BUT THE FRIES. The fries are the reason this place exists. Best fries in town. Possibly sent from a higher power. If the kitchen caught fire, I'd save the fries first. Now the beer, it comes in a glass so small I thought it was a tasting pour or a joke. I assume this is a financial strategy. Honestly? Fine. Charge me more. I live here, I get it. let me start by saying I'm writing this review because of the fact that this bar has the potential to be a 5 Star place. it's absolutely gorgeous, the layouts perfect, the drinks are good, the food is good as well and the owner who runs this particular group of restaurants and bars is an amazing person from what I've come in contact with. However, my experience at love's was pretty much a one star, based off of the staff and the staff alone. Particularly one bartender named Spencer who was taking care of me and my friend. He came up to us and brought us menus, I took a look at the menu and said a drink looked good he then proceeded to say "yes it is that's why it's on the menu" in a very condescending tone. Then when we went ahead and ordered it he began talking to me and my friend about the space by only insulting it and its owners saying that it was "half baked". We mentioned that it was advertised as a women in rock music bar (and there was pitbull being played over the loudspeaker with ONLY male staff) that upset him as well and he started going on a rant about how he likes stevie nicks? We tried to de-escalate the vibes by letting him know we were both bartenders and servers as well so we understand the frustration with opening a new space. He then proceeded to get in a weird " my horse is bigger than your horse" rant asking how many places we've opened up. when we said only one or two he said he had opened up five different's places. In my opinion I don't really think that's a flex considering he doesn't work at any of those spaces now and is now working at another new spot where he is actively insulting it to the customers and patrons of the bar. At the end of the interaction, we put everything on one tab and he handed me the handheld to pay with the 22% tip already selected for me... this is 100% not OK it's up to the customer to choose how much to tip you I know this as a bartender myself. i just selected continue because i felt threatened by him but to be honest I would've tipped him zero dollars if I didn't work in the service industry. All in all, love's really needs to reevaluate who they're hiring and the energy they're bringing in there with their staff. read more
