In the middle of the winter storm, this restaurant and bar was a saving grace for me. If you're staying at The Hoxton, this has been my favorite dining experiences attached to a hotel. Every angle of the interior was gorgeous to look at and dripping in luxurious velvety colors. The service is wonderful. We had one waitress (Ally) who really made our night. An excellent place for drinks as well, even if you're not staying in the hotel. They have a large gin-based cocktail menu and there was not a single drink I got that I didn't like. They also provide room service for people staying in the Hoxton and the portions are wild. The potatoes were enormous for $8 and so flavorful. The salad is enough for a full meal. read more

What a great place to sip on coffee and work remotely from. Cute ambience and decor! This cafe is in the lobby of the Hoxton hotel and the lobby itself is expansive and stretches into a larger room where you can easily work remotely and take your calls/meetings without too much distraction or noise. The cafe does close at 11 and the Hoxton is currently still working on getting a lunch hour set up but their bar does open at 4 pm. The staff was kind enough to let me order outside food and bring it in since they weren't serving food/drinks between 11 am - 4 pm. read more

Seriously astounded by the immaculate level of hospitality that Karah & Molly provided. I was *that person* who flew in late and arrived half an hour before closing. Without hesitation, they both greeted me like a beloved neighbor and offered a beverage and food as I settled into a bar seat. I was visiting a friend in Portland and we stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around. I was immediately drawn in by the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. We were immediately sat for dinner but the cocktail area seemed lively and a great place for the drinks. My friend and I order a few drinks and they were delicious! I highly recommend the Paloma. The waiter even offered me a splash of wine before I committed to a glass of Chardonnay. For appetizers, we got the oysters, yams, and focaccia. The puffed buckwheat and cranberry glaze on the yams brought such a new flavor to a traditional dish and the sea salt on the focaccia was the perfect touch. I'm not quite sure what type of oysters we had. For dinner my friend ordered the seared king salmon. I ordered the wagyu culotte. This is easily one of the best cuts of meats that I've ever had in my life! The meat was cooked to perfection and the demi-glace was so flavorful in its pairing with mushrooms, onions, and potatoes. Though we were so satisfied with dinner, we couldn't say no to desert and a few more cocktails. We ordered the chocolate semi frezzo which was a perfect ending to a great meal. I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate but it was paired great with brittle and cherries. The service made the entire experience that much more wonderful. The waiter wasn't able to answer all of our questions such as what types of oysters and the profile of the wine but it was made up for in his hospitality and attentiveness. The manager also made his way to our table to check in on us and give a few recommendations in town. Very few times have I felt this attended to and cared for. 5 Star Covid Update! LR is back and sassy as ever. Great cocktails (although ordering them is a bit of a labyrinthian process) and the burger is currently my favorite at the limited number of open places in Portland in the time of Covid. Really conflicted here. It's a nice bar, and the live music was great. But there is one bartender who moves sooo slowly, for a 100 person capacity venue no less. Have you ever been in line at the dmv and wondered "why is it taking 20 minutes per person? What is going on?" If you have experienced that, you have experienced this venue. Start to finish in a five person line was 32 minutes. Talk about killing the buzz and good time. I would sneak your own booze in and enjoy the show. read more

We came for Thursday night jazz which was awesome but be mindful it's loud if you choose to sit close to the band so make sure you sit closer to the back for conversation. Staff was nice and prompt. Despite the outgoing voice mail message, Lovely Rita is OPEN as of about a month ago. We had a delicious dinner for 4 with great, friendly service. Attached to a hotel, the front area is couches and soft seating, but the back area has nice traditional dining tables with comfortable banquets and chairs. The decor is very tasteful and dimly lit in the evening. They have a short cocktail menu and a large wine list. We enjoyed a delicious charcuterie board with an extra side of bread and each couple shared the roasted winter squash with sticky rise and the Waygu sirloin, which made for an excellent pairing. The sirloin was especially delicious served well charred on the edges and rare within. We were told there is also a bar in the basement, an "apartment" for private banquets on the main floor behind the restaurant (both were hosting private events the evening we were there) and a Mexican restaurant on the rooftop. read more

Original plan was to go to Topé but they were close for a private party. Not wanting to Uber anywhere else decided to have dinner at Lovely Rita's. What a mistake! We asked for a glass of Cabernet the guy brought us a Syrah. Okay we gave him the benefited of doubt, asked about the wine he gave us a line about it. We got our bills we each paid $30.00 for 1/2 glass of wine we didn't ask for. We each got a $90.00 bill for 1/2 of wine and fish and chips. I popped into the Lovely Rita with a couple of friends having no idea what a fabulous treat we were in for. The restaurant itself was stylish, yet inviting and comfortable. After ordering a round of cocktails (my martini was absolute perfection), we decided to go with the Chef's tasting and wine pairing. One of our party has somewhat difficult dietary restrictions and I was surprised at how accommodating the kitchen and our server, the wonderful Delaney, were. The stand outs of the evening for me were the venison tar tar (not something I would have expected to like nearly as much as I did), the radicchio and the most perfectly cooked pork chop. The wine pairing was a perfect compliment to each dish. Each wine was well matched and still interesting on it's own. The service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable and knew exactly what kind of guests we were in order to anticipate our needs (this translates to keeping our drinks full and laughing at our jokes). The manager, who sat us, was incredibly welcoming and checked in throughout our meal to assure we were well attended to. Overall, 11 out of 10, everyone should go here. This place gives me a reason to linger in Old Town now. I used to work in the neighborhood and I'm proud there's such a delightful place over here. You could obviously have a date here, as my partner and I did, but it could also star as the background at the point in a spy thriller where the love interest provides a crucial plot point. The real candles and octagonal tables sealed the deal. I consider myself well acquainted with radicchio, but my opening chomps on the Variegated Radicchio salad introduced me to a new slice of the cultivated form of leaf chicory. The pear surprised us both and I might need pear whenever enjoying it from now on. We split a Spicy Paloma and just as the Partida Reposado hit me one of us promptly dropped the full glass and made a little scene. We were provided a substitute quite quickly once the shards of glass were cleared and thank god. Next I had the Roasted Winter Squash and come on. The Green Curry made me trade my fork for a spoon. I've never had fried sticky rice like that, either. My partner took far more than his share and we actually fought about that. For desert I had the Chai Spiced Sticky Bun and more than my share of my partner's Chocolate Semifredo. We all love a Semi. The sticky bun made me want to get the whole gaggle round for drinks and a couple of these. This dessert would get me in the door even if I've already eaten. The waitress was knowledgeable and so kind. The manager came over for a little chat. The man who brought us the spare was lovely. We'll certainly be back. read more

Went to Lovely Rita for an event. Beautiful place but disappointing experience. The event has a charcuterie spread so can't comment much on the food. The drinks however were extremely disappointing. It has a great looking bar but the drinks were weak and weren't correctly made. My martini was terrible and the french 75 he made was just champagne and a ton of lemon juice. We also tried one of their signature cocktails which just tasted like watered down whiskey. Even the gin and tonics were disappointing. We really wanted to back since the ambiance is great :(. read more

Visited on Christmas day early afternoon. We were obviously earlier than most, but were offered a choice of seating in a comfortable space with comfy couches and chairs or at a decent sized table. We took the table since we planned to eat the prime rib dinner and as a party of six thought the table would work better. The service was excellent. The food was good but the prime rib was a bit tough. It was tasty, though. The butternut squash soup was wonderful as was the creamed kale. We would return to give other dishes a go.
