    Pho Dac Biet
    Ayoosh K.

Restaurant was clean and provided excellent service. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Their pho dac biet was delicious. They even let us try the broth for a peanut based pho, which I will try next time. I have tried that at other restaurants but it wasn't as good as this one. Nice to know another pho in the neighborhood.

I ordered takeout from here through skip the dishes today. I was craving for pho and this place definitely satisfied my cravings. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle) $12 and the Satay Pho $12. However with the delivery fee and tip, the total ended up being around $30. Both dishes were both super flavourful and the portions were big. Compared to other Pho places in the city, this place is decent but not the best. The price is a bit high for what you get. As for packaging, I like how they put the broth in a separate container wrapped in a bag so it wouldn't spill and everything was neatly organized. I put the noodles in a bowl at home since it was more sanitary. The broth was still hot when I received it. To be safe, I also microwaved the dishes to ensure the meat is cooked. Overall, it was a delicious lunch and this was a good takeout experience.

Pho. Pronounced Feu .which is the French word for fire. . Who pronounce it as FO . But either way it's a delicious soup on a autumn day. This place is tucked away in a strip mall and if you don't know ,you can miss it. Ok.. onto the soups.. there is a variety of pho soups to choose from and other dishes . I really was craving pho and I've never been here before. My order was to go because I didn't want to dine in .. not feeling great . The place has a great Vietnamese feel to it and is very clean . About 5 minutes later my order was ready. When I got home , I had two containers ( one with broth, the other with veggies and beef ) and a plastic bag with the sprouts ( bean sprouts to be exact ). After assembling my soup I enjoyed it .. I mean it's soup.. you can't mess up soup . It was a good portion and very filling. The staff though . The lady who took my order was nice enough but the person who handed my order was not very friendly. It was not too busy there but it was around 4pm . I'd go back

This spot has the BEST pho sate!!! You MUST try this. It's a spicy peanut soup and they broth is absolutely delish. Best Pho Sate I've tried in the city thus far. This time though, we ordered the Pho Dac Biet, which is their noodle soup that has ALL the meat in it. We ordered the extra large size so we can share as a family and we still had leftovers for the next day. The broth was good, well made before I added anything to it which is always a good sign. We also ordered the grilled pork salad rolls. They are on the small size but they do have 3 to an order vs most places that usually have 2 to an order so I guess that makes up for it. They were good and their peanut sauce was good too. We also ordered the shaking beef which is a dish we discovered through a show on Netflix and it's so delicious!!! I highly recommend trying this dish.

This has become our favorite pho place! We've ordered twice through Skip the Dish and it's come well organized and HOT. Everything was sooooo good. Chicken Pho - Pho Ga Satay Pho - Pho Sate Steak Pho - Pho Tai Green Onion Cakes I've had the chicken pho each time I've ordered. The broth is hands down the best broth I've had. I even strained my left overs and took the broth in a mug to work the next day. Husband has Satay Pho - he said it was spicy but not too hot. Daughter tried Steak Pho for the first time (first pho) ever. I think next time she'll have chicken but she enjoyed it. The green onion cakes are big and delicious. Next time I'll order more for that 9pm craving.

Excellent place to get some Pho. The kids wanted some noodles and the wife was in the mood for something soupy. This place worked out perfect. We got some Pho with chicken and Shanghai noodles. We also got some chicken salad rolls for starters. Everything came out quite quick and were delicious. I don't frequent Vietnamese restaurants that often, however I wouldn't mind coming back again to check our more items on their menu.

A coworker and I ordered from here a few days ago. We were not impressed. I ordered some type of seafood pho and it came with really dry fish balls and imitation crab and the world's toughest calamari. However the broth was very good and the greens seemed fresh.

Very good service and the food is very good, got the satay pho and it was really good and spicy just how I like it!!!! Is a little far for me but I was in the area so decide to try it just order on SkipTheDishes and pick it up!!! What else can you do when covid19 still here!!! If you have the change try this place!!!

    Beef "on the side."
    Corinne B.

I am very disappointed with an order I received from this restaurant. I ordered a wonton soup with beef. (The order was through skip the dishes.) After a few minutes of making the order, I had someone from the restaurant call me, asking if I wanted the "meat on the side or in the soup." I naturally assumed it would be in the soup, and explained this (as many Vietnamese soups come with different meats, etc). The employee seemed to think I should have it on the side, so perplexed, I said ""Sure it doesn't matter. Put it on the side." When it arrived, it was raw. The meat was absolutely pure raw (see photo). I was astounded. I called the restaurant back and the first person I spoke to was not able to communicate well enough in English, so I was passed on to the supervisor. She explained that it would "cook" in the soup broth. Needless to say I had to cook the meat separately (and only ordered in the first place because I was in such a rush!) I was NOT impressed. Also the portion sizes were very very small. 9$ for an order of "not so big" salad rolls. Never again!

This is one of my favourite vietnamese places for soup and appetizers. The rice and vermicelli dishes are mediocre in comparison so make sure to order what they specialize in. If I come with a big group I like to order as many appetizers as possible as it's similar to vietnamese street foods like crepes, tapioca dumplings and deep fried goodies. All of it is authentic and delicious. My must orders here are the duck salad and soup combo. It's what I come here for as no other place in edmonton has it on the menu that I know of. And it's pretty darn delicious. If I don't get that. The bun bo hue is loaded with so many meats that I never can finish it! I can't wait to go back to this locally owned business run by a family. Although service is not the greatest. They do provide whatever you need if you ask for it. They definitely won't bother you when you visit here. As most people just eat quick and leave. It's not one of those places you sit and chat and have drinks at. But for what they offer. It's affordable fast convenient and authentic. One of the best in edmonton!

Little has changed on the interior, except for the addition of a large fish tank. The menu is very typical of Vietnamese noodle houses, featuring a good selection of pho noodle soup, vermicelli noodle bowls, and rice dishes. I opted for a bowl of pho with medium sliced beef and brisket. My soup was full of meat which was reasonably tender and lean, and came in a broth that was well-seasoned. Colleen, my co-Volunteer Coordinator, ordered a bowl of Thai spicy pho, and she ordered it without any meat. She was happy with the flavour of her soup and its abundance of noodles. I started with a green onion cake, finding the two large rings of fried dough and green onions to be large and not too greasy, as well as a bit cheaper than I've had elsewhere. I also decided to do something I rarely do when I order pho - even though I find the complimentary green tea and broth from the soup to be more than enough liquid intake for one meal, I decided to try one of the iced drinks. Being a dreary winter day I felt some extra vitamin C was in order, and opted for a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It was incredibly fresh and full of pulp - I literally felt like I was drinking an orange in liquid form. Prices are in line, if not lower, than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Our entire meal, which also included a can of pop for Colleen, cost less than $25 before the tip. Service was fast and friendly and neither of us had any complaints about the food. Winter is the perfect time for a steaming bowl of pho, so consider heading to Viet Huong.

Service is fast, but minimal. Nobody came to check on us at all during the duration of our meal. I had the beef satay soup, which, unfortunately, is only available in the regular size. I normally don't find the regular size filling enough to last me until the next meal. The soup was good though; not overly spicy with a nice peanut flavor to it. Not a fan of how lean the beef was though; I prefer some fattiness to my meat. My brother and mom both ordered a large bowl of pho and they felt the broth was watered down and bland. My mom felt the large size just meant more broth and did not feel full at the end of her meal. My mom also did not like how lean/tough the beef in her pho was either. For 2 large bowls of pho, a regular size bowl of satay, a small bowl of noodle only and a side order of spring rolls came out to just over $56. The Groupon is a good deal, but I don't know if I'd make this place one of my go-tos for Vietnamese food as there is definitely better out there. Staff won't allow happy hour specials at discounted price despite being in happy hour time frame. Hoang long is a modern clean space with bamboo accents and a newly renovated area. There is a large patio out front for summer. But it being closed off made the entrance kinda blending in. I was looking for the entrance and walked right by it. Trying to figure out how you get in is a slight challenge. As the door blends in so well and it appears it's just the patio. But that's the entrance. I visited quite early during happy hour at around 6pm. The place was entirely empty except for staff which was slightly disheartening. But I'm sure this place is bustling during the lunch hours. Wait staff were slow to greet me so I sat myself and grabbed my own menus. The menu Is vast. A huge range of thai and vietnamese foods. From soups, sandwiches, grilled meats and stews. Looking through the menu was overwhelming but at least there is something for everyone. We decided on trying the chicken satays with peanut sauce. These were a famous item popular during the taste of edmonton. They did not disappoint. They charred them so nicely I could hear the fire crackling in the dead of winter. But the best part was the peanut sauce. They don't provide this during the taste of edmonton. But it brings the dish to new heights. I would say...stick to the grilled meats here. They don't disappoint. I throughly enjoyed my bun bo hue. It was authentic and tasty. It made my list for top 5 in edmonton for sure. Portion was perfect and the ratio of meats and noodles were just right. Another great dish. My only vice was that it was happy hour...advertised from 3-7pm. But the staff would not allow discounted prices despite it only being 6pm. They had decent options like wine, beer or a customized cocktail for $4. The server states happy hour is over despite it clearly stating it is until 7pm on the menu. I point to the board and he says it's full price. Whatever. I don't like misrepresentation on menus. And discrepancys are misleading. For this I minused a star. Service was haphazard. I seated myself. Got my own condiments and even got my own drinks. I had to go to the counter to order my food and pay at the register. All the server did was put the food on my table and clean it up afterwards. The whole process downgraded the whole modern vibe to more of a cafeteria style establishment. I felt jipped tipping bc i basically served myself. So minus another star. Overall. The food was great. Slightly overpriced. But the atmosphere reflects the price in the heart of downtown. Service was okay but the whole happy hour misrepresentation was a huge turnoff. I won't ever be buying drinks here in the future. Bc hey...they don't follow the advertised prices on the menu. It's decent. I would revisit if I am in the area. But it definetly won't be a go to place that I would drive to if I was hungry.

Inside there was just one table occupied but there is a decent amount of seating for the lunch time crowd. It seemed cleaned. The combos they offer are a rice or noodle (pad thai that didn't look very appetizing) and then up to 3 or 4 items. The food was under heat lamps so I could see what the options were. I decided to get the fried rice and a few items. I choose a chicken first and looked at the other items before deciding on the vegetables with cashews. The woman serving me had the rectangle take out container about 2/3 full and she kept suggesting food such as the green beans and then the sweet and sour pork. Both didn't look very appetizing. I think she was hoping I would pay for as much food to get rid of since the lunch time crowd had passed but she wasn't generous with the quantity. I decided on the beef skewer and then was done. At half price I paid $7.35. I brought the food home and heated it up. I liked the beef skewer but the rest of the food wasn't very good. The food tasted greasy and I had to use my fingers to eat the chicken was it had lots of bones. I'm not sure if it's from this food, but I didn't feel well after. Definitely would not pay $14 for the food I had as lots of other great restaurants around. It would probably be better to go during the lunch hour when the food is hot and fresh but I'll pass next time I'm in the area.
