On 29MAY2024 I called in my order and was told it would take about 30 min. Weird b/c usually I'm told 15, buy ok. I make an order for Pizza Hut next door too. I go to HH 1st they said they needed a few more minutes so I went to PH and my pizzas were on the counter ready to go. Went back to HH waited another 30 minutes for meal. While I was there a couple sitting at a table were also fed up with their wait for dinner that the man got up and went to the counter to change their order to go. The were seated before my 1st entry so I have no idea how long their entire visit was. They were still waiting when I left. The man did point out that he thought it was poor service that all the skip, door dash and uber drivers were still coming and going. He said that it was his 1sr experience where food apps took priority over physical customers. He isn't wrong. My husband has suggested HH for dinner a few times since and I just tell him I still haven't gotten over May's experience. Also while I was waiting, bored, I looked up HH for their Alberta Health visits, that also might be a reason why I'm not excited about going back. read more

We unfortunately did not receive any food at this restaurant , arrived at 630 pm on January 1, did not get seated immediately although there were several empty tables had to wait for the young lady to clean one off. She then pointed at the table from across the room for us to come sit at it. We then sat down and she dropped off the menus and chopsticks. Another couple came in and were-sat at one of the previously mentioned empty tables and given menus, water and there order was taken. We waited while two tables were served dinner, and boxes taken and a bill paid at the second table. Waited longer and we finally got up and put our jackets on to leave. This was not a great experience what so ever. This is honestly the absolute best Vietnamese food you can find in the city! Their food is always fresh and soooo delicious! Perfect for a hangover or just whenever! My go to's are the vermicelli bowl with grilled pork or grilled beef and spring rolls, pork and shrimp salad rolls and their wonton soup! Their peanut sauce is to die for! I've had the opportunity to both eat in and order takeout from Hong Huong. Pros - Atmosphere is beautiful inside with fabulous floor to ceiling windows! I quite enjoy the airy feel on a cold winter's day. The menu is vast with both Vietnamese and Thai options. They offer kids meals for $7ish with a beverage and treat. Tofu pad Thai and chicken fried rice were a hit. Cons - the staples that we look for are disappointing in comparison to our faves for both bun (vermicelli bowels) and pho. The vermicelli bowel fish sauce lacked depth and tasted like it came fresh out of a bottle rather than being seasoned in house and the 5 colours lacked basil which I had requested. My husband described the Pho (we requested spicy) as bland and interestingly, my mother-in-law also found their wor wonton to have a rather flavour less broth. For takeout, items are missed or not fulfilled accurately (i.e. Missing basil) which is a big let down and not easy to rectify from home. Prices are a tad higher than average but portions are a good size. If I were rating them on their bun and pho alone, I would only give them 2 stars but props for atmosphere, menu variety, and offering kids meals. I'll take the advice of some of the other reviewers and give one of the curries a try next time and those garlic shrimp rolls! PS - They do not have a website as of yet. read more

Big open restaurant with huge ceilings. This should be noted and probably health and safety should be notified.. it was 27 degrees inside. How do I know? On my way to the washroom I saw the thermostat that read 27. They had fans going but they were hardly working. The one by us was broken and not running. The lights were not on in the restaurant, which is fine because lots of natural light came in, but it did get dark at one point in which then they did turn on the lights. The waitress was wearing a crop top, black lulu lemon pants and runners.. I'm sorry but this is not professional.. that is gym attire. The washroom was very dirty. Whoever changed the toilet paper couldn't even be bothered to put the wrapper in the garbage. It was beside the garbage. The floor was dirty, the walls were dirty, counter dirty.. everything. It made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen. The food- I will say it was good.. I have no complaints about it.. however it wasn't anything special and defiantly wasn't worth the 30 min drive for me. The service was not bad despite the poor dress. Hong Huong opened up within the past few months near my friend's house, and she was always raving to me about it. Now that I've gone to eat there with her twice (and counting), I can see why! First of all, it is very clean! And bright! And there has actually been some thought put into the decor! Very minimalistic and appealing. The menu is huge. It is almost overwhelming, there is so much to choose from. The prices are reasonable, with mains ranging from $10-$16. The garlic shrimp roll appetizer is delicious. The coconut curry is delicious. Have had a few other dishes that were ok to very good. And, the service... it exists! And it's not bad! This is like a unicorn of a Vietnamese restaurant - delicious food, clean place, and good service. read more

Came here for the first time, the building/strip mall is located in a newer area on the north side, the inside is a bit small but clean, bright and modern looking. We had about one hour before heading to a concert but usually Vietnamese food doesn't take long. There was four of us who wasn't that familiar with their menu so we asked a few questions. Our waiter was not very knowledgeable about the dishes and didn't know what the difference was between the pork chop rice and the "special"one which was $2 more. Two of us ordered the special one and one ordered the regular one but when it came to the table, our waiter mixed them up and we couldn't really tell the difference. I asked the other waiter what was different and he said the special one has the pork skin. The plate was quite large with two pork chops, a fried egg, rice, shredded carrots and lettuce and cucumber, we all enjoyed it. My other friend ordered the ginger beef and the menu showed that it was spicy but the waiter said they can make it less spicy. She also enjoyed it. We asked for water but after 10 minutes, it never came and the food took a long time considering the restaurant wasn't busy. We ate quickly so if you are pressed for time, go to a different place. This place is my new favorite. While not noted on the menu they will change all soups to veggie broth for is vegetarians and vegans! And we added tofu as well! Service was excellent and it was clean. The décor inside of the restaurant is really pretty. The floor to ceiling windows make it a nice place to dine on a winter day, lots of sun! I was across the street at the Legion for a conference and saw the signs for this place in the morning, thought I would give it a try. The service is pretty amazing, they like to make sure that you are well taken care of. I tried my favourite for whenever I go out for Pho; the Sate Beef Pho. I wasn't a huge fan of it here. The broth was actually thickened and very oily. It made it difficult to get to the noodles in the middle of the bowl. The veggies are pre-added as well. I am used to having them on the side so I can pick what I want to put into my soup. The other people that were there seemed to be really enjoying their food, and there was enough of it that everyone was taking some away. I may go back to try some of the other things on the menu, but I won't be ordering the Pho here again. read more

I ordered take out this past Sunday evening and was having a die-hard craving for Singapore Noodles. Looked to see what was close by thatwould delivered and couldn't find anything that really appealed. Saw Hong Huong and was disappointed when we called that they didn't deliver. Saw that their reviews were great online and decided to do take out and called them again. Ordered 3 main dishes and an order of spring rolls and they messed up and charged us and gave us 4 main dishes and the springs rolls. However I have to say everything was great and I am one picky eater when it comes to Asian food. I saw a lot of Vietnamese dishes on their menu. Don't get me wrong I love my Vietnamese food but remember I had a die-hard craving for Singapore noodles. BTW as Tony the Tiger says "They were gggggggggggreat!" Spring rolls were good. Had a curry dish that was very tasty, the lemongrass beef was oh so yummy and tender. The dish we paid for but didn't order looked to be almost like a curry chow mein dish with egg in it. It was pretty darn good I shall say. The price was a little hard to digest at around the $70 mark. However both me and my Steve had full plates and there was enough for lunch for both of us and supper for me again that night! So portion wise we I believe we got our moneys worth. My only suggestion is ensure that when you do take out make sure you get what you paid for before you leave the restaurant. It's a weekend morning. Or afternoon. You're not quite sure because the pounding behind your eyeballs is making it difficult to focus on your cell phone. You're feeling a bit rough (but who wouldn't after all those shots of Belvedere and your stint as queen of Flip Cup?) and you know-you just know-you need to eat some pho. We recently decided to give Hong Huong Vietnamese Restaurant, a small place on the outskirts of Clareview, a try. To be concise, it was pretty good. It didn't blow me away, but I did have a good, solid meal. One of the things that I really liked about this restaurant was the amount of natural light streaming in through the restaurants windows, which covered most of the building's facade. It makes the restaurant seem more friendly, while also setting the scene for some great food photography. Our table may have been sticky, but the service was decent. They were reasonably fast with our orders: a 6-colour bowl for Taner and soup with rare beef, flank, and brisket for me. The bun bowl exploded with meats: pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, and meatballs, all accompanied with the usual spring rolls. The pho was less colourful but just as tasty. I generally prefer a darker, full-bodied soup for my pho (as I like my wine)-Hong Huong's soup was much lighter but was full of flavour. The rare beef had unfortunately already cooked to well done by the time it got to my table, but I ate it with relish regardless. The vietnamese coffee was much too sweet for either of us to drink, so that was left mostly untouched. Everything else, though, was great. We were happy with the food, content with the service, and pleased with our overall experience. As with most Vietnamese restaurants, the prices are extremely reasonable. For two meals and a coffee, our bill came under $30. Bargain! read more

Going to Houng Houng was one of those experiences in life that simply happened. My team and I were flush from a great business meeting and this wound up where we went. It's not bad at all! The interior is clean and pleasantly decorated, and the menu is one of the largest I've seen in ages. Seriously, it's almost ridiculous. But it's a point in Houng Houng's favor that narrowing down to one selection was a tough choice - there were about a dozen options we wanted to try. The food itself was great - I had one of the pho dishes, and neither taste nor volume left me wanting. The only downside was that I had some difficulty communicating questions (could be a potential concern for those with allergies), but staff was friendly. I'm going back to try the coconut soup. Hong Huong has been out goto place for vermicelli bowls. Eat-in or Take-out the experience is the same - fresh, clean, delicious. Their green onion cakes and wonton soup are very good also, but we are really a Vermicelli bowl family. They also can accommodate our pescetarian daughter's tastes with veggie spring rolls. In store, you can expect a clean and friendly environment with young attentive staff. This little gem is tucked in a strip mall in the Miller neighbourhood and is perfectly located for the newer communities popping up. This place is always busy, even in the afternoon but I have never had to wait for a seat. I would estimate a very good percentage of their traffic is take out as there is a steady stream of people coming in to pick up. This is a testament to the care they take in packing the to-go bags with is a pet peeve of mine when it is not done right. As a regular customer of Pho Hoan Pastuer, Lan's, and Pagolac i can say this place is tasty enough to keep me close to home. My only suggestion for improvement would be on their website - the menu us a pain to click around on. Simple JPEGs of the menu they have in store (even if it was an optional view format) would be way easier. read more

I was here quite along time ago and was enjoying the food but had a bad experience with the server. My rice was uncooked and can understand this can happen but when I told the server he started arguing with me about it. Saying no one else complained I got very irritated at that point and pointed out I am asian and grew up on rice and know what undercooked rice tastes like. He finally took it to the back and came back saying that they had used a different varitry of rice and that's why it was undercooked. I can totally understand making a mistake in cooking but don't understand as I have other costumers saying that the servers will argue the point. Although the food is good the prices are getting quite high and even though I would like to get take out I won't because they don't seem to be willing to acknowledge any problems and don't want to have to fight if I get home and find a problem with the rice or something else. Really is too bad that they lose money because they argue about things that could be easily corrected. If you like Vietnamese food this is an awesome place to check out. My girlfriend and I come here quite often for pho. It's clean, and the decor is modern and nice. The service is outstanding and they are willing to customize for those on a clean healthy diet. Their menu is quite extensive as it has a wide range and selection. I really enjoyed the mango salad with grilled chicken, it has a fresh taste and the mango really makes the tastebuds come alive. read more

We ordered Pho with rare steak and meatball, it came fairly quick however the broth was luke-warm - enough to barely cook the meat and the noodles didn't have a chance, tough and stuck together. Really enjoy coming here. The vermicelli bowls are spectacular. The meat is so flavourful, the noodles are never dry. Other items, such as their pho or Pad Thai, are good but you can find better elsewhere. The green onion cakes are worth it though. Overall probably the best Vietnamese in the area. read more

Just visited this restaurant -- great local neighborhood diner. Had the special of ginger beef with rice including a side of wonton soup for $12. The flavor of the soup was very good; but that is where it ended for me. The ginger beef was cooked well and still crispy; but there was no depth to the flavor -- not hardly a hint of spice. I had the veggy pho to go, and had extra veggies. It was a huge portion and delicious! The vegetables were super fresh, and the broth was tasty and not overbearing. The portion was so big that I have soup for lunch tomorrow. The decor was super clean when we went in and the owners son/nephew was super nice and made good conversation while we waited for our take out (we got there early). Happened to drive by and thought I should try it one day. First time at the restaurant with family today. It's nice inside with the decor but dirty. Where we sat the tables look visibly clean but it's like they wiped off the table only and left the chairs and floor dirty. Service was great! They were prompt with taking orders and food was ready in time. My family and I had Pho, Buon bo hue, and Mi sao don thap cam. Would only recommend the pho. Buon bo was practically pho soup and they added the buon bo soup spices to it. Mi sao don was very salty and they tried to save it by adding a lot of sugar so it was grossly salty with a spoon full of sugar at the same time. read more

This restaurant has great food, I've been going there for a while but I had an awkward/disappointing experience last time. My friends and I ordered a bubble tea each, when it came we started drinking and as soon as we got boba coming up through the straw we noticed something was off about it. It was incredibly hard to chew and did not taste right. We let the waitress know about it and she said she will talk to the chef. We were a little bit annoyed but respectful of the mishap because stuff happens. She came back and told us "it was made last night" and that "sorry I can't do anything about it, I have no say against the chef" and "you can go talk to the chef personally if you would like". It was disappointing to hear this because that's not how a restaurant should run. They made no accommodations to us (not that we wanted any), not even a simple apology for the mishap. Our waitress just shrugged it off and gave us our bill. As a staff member you have a voice and you need to speak to each other and be able to take criticism. You can't treat customers like this, we have a voice too and when you disregard us like that it's very rude, since we were very respectful about the matter. read more
