After a two hour bike ride, we were looking for a place to refuel. We were originally going to eat next door at Kobe's but they've changed their hours recently so we walked over to Pho Kim. I've been one other time (where I tried the bun bo hue: verdict = average). The place was surprising decently busy for a Wednesday afternoon. Maybe because Callingwood Farmers Market was also up? The inside is pretty standard with a few TV's to entertain you. Menu is long but typical Vietnamese fare: appetizers, soup, pho, vermicelli bowls, rice and pan fried dishes. - Pan fried tofu with lemongrass, bell pepper and onion (#44) ($10.95) - Ol's been here a bunch and this is one of her favourite dishes. She got it spicy. - Vietnamese beef stew soup (#17) ($11.95) - found another place that does bo kho! You choose between egg or rice noodles (you can't get a mix). The broth was decent. Not a lot of depth but passable. The meat could have been more tender. The carrots were hard as rock. Not much selection in the west end. This place is one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants. I like their seafood soup and most of the time I order that. Their salad rolls are pretty good too. I have tried their Vietnamese coffee before too and it's pretty awesome. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. Very polite and helpful staff. Pho Kim m is a busy little restaurant in Callingwood. I've eaten at a lot of Vietnamese places over the years and this one is my favourite. Their Curry Chicken #20 is amazing. Each mouthful is packed full of flavours. The chicken tastes fresh, cooked properly and the creamy sauce in perfect if you enjOy a warm spicy dish. Their spring rolls are worth the money and are decent size aNd good portion. Green onion cakes have chicken in them, not sure if that's the norm but they aRe big fluffy and again, cooked to perfection. This is without question my favourite pho spot in the city. Their broth is always a little different so I know it's being made from scratch every time. My personal favourite is the satay soup with prawns or beef (this is a spicy one though!) Anytime I try a different pho restaurant I always find myself comparing that place to this one. Great place for Pho in the West End. I took the family here on the weekend and we were all pleased with the service and food. I ordered the curry chicken pho and it was delicious. The accompanying bean sprouts were crisp, however the fresh basil was a mixed bag (some fresh some a bit whilted). My son loved the spring rolls. They were super hot and as crispy as I've ever tasted. The coconut rice was exceptional. With Pho it's all about the broth. We each had a different kind of Pho, and the broth was quite different for each one. They have a fairly extensive menu, and I have no hesitation recommending this place for tasty convenient Vietnamese food in the West End of Edmonton, AB, Canada. I'll be back. read more

I'm always unsure about new Vietnamese restaurants since some are overpriced and don't taste good. I believe they have been in business for over two years now and is located in the Callingwood strip mall. It's a bit small inside but the food is quite tasty and the prices were good. I went with my daughter and husband for lunch and we love vietnamese soup bowls. All of us ordered a soup bowl with different kinds of beef, the soup was not oily and had just the right amount of spices. The service was okay, typical of any vietnamese restaurant. There is plenty of parking and lots of stores in the Callingwood Marketplace. We will definitely go back to try a few other dishes and do some shopping at the same time. read more

Although the space is small, Pho Kim has delicious food. Salad rolls for appetizer, which was fresh and great tasting. The broth of the Bun Bo Hue is packed with flavour - so good that I was reminded of my time in Vietnam. Prices are relatively cheap. We had anther dish (#51) but it wasn't very special. It was more like a fusion of chinese. And a little pricy for the amount on the plate. I'll be coming by again sometime in the near future, and I'll be making sure to pick dishes that are authentic vietnamese because it tastes amazing! read more

I'm torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars but decided to go with 3. We arrived shortly before noon but the doors were locked and it looked dark inside. But they opened the doors and 3 tables were filled. It's small inside, maybe 10 tables or so. We were given menus and the water came shortly after. I decided to get the 3 item vermicelli bowl with spring rolls, chicken, and pork and my friend had the spicy beef satay soup. Even though it seemed like no one was inside before noon, our food came out quickly. Mine came with fish sauce on the side of the bowl and it was a large portion. The food was good. My friend commented her soup was very spicy and cleared up any congestion she may have had! Our water was refilled once but no one came to check how we were doing after we got our food. My bowl was just under $11 and hers with $10. Small but seemed clean inside. There was ample parking by the restaurant which is near the DQ, Chinese restaurant, and sushi restaurant. This is probably the second time I've been here. I actually forgot about Pho Kim. The only reason I came here today was because the regular place I go to in West Edmonton mall was closed. I guess it worked out because I ordered the Bun Bo Hue at Pho Kim and it did not disappoint. I came here after looking for "best pho" on yelp. Well if this is what Edmonton has to offer me for pho I'm in trouble! I got pho tai (rare beef) the only way to go if you ask me. I do love chicken pho which if you can find they actually use turkey. Anyhow the flavor was moderate in it was there but not very spectacular. Very little beef and noodles. Beef wasn't very rare or did it look of great quality. The broth tho was pretty good. Seemed that it could use longer to steep. I also had the spring rolls which were ok too. I am disappointed to have to write this update. My family have been regular take-out customers at Pho Kim for over 1.5 yrs. We usually order the same 5 menu items each time and have had good service. However, yesterday there was an error in my takeout order that I did not find until I got home with my kids. Instead of receiving a vegetable and chicken dish (#59), I was given #69 which is a Thai curry chicken dish that my children can't/won't eat. I called the restaurant right away, explained the situation, and asked if I could have credit for the #59 dish another time. John offered to make the dish ready for pick up again immediately but it was late and my kids were tired and needing to eat and get ready for bed. John said I could call back another day to claim the credit. Today, I called in the evening and asked if I could redeem the credit for the #59 dish. Everything seemed to go smoothly and I paid for a full order of extra coconut rice. When I got home, I was disappointed to find that the container marked "59" was in fact filled 2/3 to 3/4 of the way with rice and the rest was vegetables and chicken. What was the point of me paying for extra rice when they already filled the "redo" dish with rice?!? I find this an insult considering it was their error to begin with. As well, I have been a loyal customer and consistently tip on my takeout orders there when I know many people typically don't tip on takeaway. Whenever I have had mistakes on my takeout orders at other restaurants, I have had no problems receiving credit on my next order, with the full menu item being prepared. All that was required was for Pho Kim to do was to prepare the dish I requested as it was supposed to have been done the first time. I wish the owners had handled this matter more professionally. That being said, this experience makes me want to take my business elsewhere. read more

The server mixed up our orders with two other tables' orders. I watched our server give my order to another table. She then brought us the wrong bowls. Obviously for someone else. She took those back then went to the other table that had my order. She took it away from that table and gave it to me. I told her I'm not eating that as it has been served to another customer already. She said "no he didn't touched it yet" WTF? I asked for a new one so she took the bowl back and 30 seconds later she came back with what she claims was a new bowl. It took 20 min to get our original order but they were able to make a fresh one in 30 seconds?!? What a bunch of crock. Disgusting. Health code violations. Hello! read more
