I have been coming to Miss Saigon for many years and have been collecting points for many years as well. I would use some here and there but never lots at once as I respect the business. I had a good amount of points as I spent a lot of money, I had enough for at least 25 orders of spring rolls. One day a few months ago they changed the points and made them worth 10x less and I used all of them in one sitting. I tried contacting them many times and I get ghosted. We came here with a party of 10 people and called ahead of time. They were able to seat us promptly and there was enough space inside for all of us. Also we came just before 11 pm, so I was surprised at how late they were open and how they were able to take care of us all. I ordered the Lemongrass Chicken and we had Green Onion Cake for the table to share. Green Onion Cake was decent, it was puffy and had a good texture. However I wish it had more green onions inside. Taste was fair, wasn't spectacular but taste was good. I liked my Lemongrass Chicken, my chicken pieces were huge and I had some leftover to take home which was great. The chicken was flavorful, the lemongrass marinade was savory, slightly sweet, a little citrus-y, and had an umami taste as well. I love lemongrass chicken and this hit the spot for me. The extra veggies on the side were fresh and added a nice acidity to the overall dish. I wish they had a little bit more rice. All in all, great portion size. Other than that, I enjoyed eating here. The wait time for our food was pretty impressive, I felt that it was fast despite having a larger group. For late night dinners with friends, I'd be happy to come here again. read more

Food: I ordered fried squid 9/10! APPETIZER It was really good, the sauce it comes with was top tier, put it with some hoisin, sriracha and chilli oil and just all comes together. Love how there's fried onions, fried pepper, honestly if they had onion rings here i would buy all the time, all in all batter was really nice and crisp. I order #15 XL Pho to share which is mostly all the beef meats, tripe/tendon/meatballs/rare beef 5/10! Broth could use a bit more depth in flavour, used a lot of hoisin and sriracha in my soups per usual but just not a nice warm grandma pho in all honesty, noodles quite soggy and not fresh and tough, good portion of tripe, meat and meatballs. Honestly if ordering pho with rare beef would prefer it to come to my table raw, usually done at most pho places and kind of a high expectancy. If you like your beef rare just ask for on the side and add in yourself after, it will come verry well done. DRINK: had a lime soda, was on sale and was just a regular marg mix with soda, nothing special. Water... glasses came in different sizes which my partner and i found cute and funny but cups had white plastic floaties in the water and not a super a tasteful look. Looked around other table and many people verry iffy on the water cups and drinking it, can see white floaties in cups as well so just a lil bit wary on the cleanliness and presentation. SERVICE: Got seated right away and chose a nice corner spot which had a tv to be able to watch the game and popular sports. Time for taking orders was a bit slow and would say not x consistent enough. If details matter to the order would suggest bringing up more options upon request and seeking some authentique info for delivery in communication. Appetizers came in a matter of time, drinks was ok on delivery . Upon finishing up meals, waiting a good bit for a check-in on the bill or to order any more drinks or food, after requesting more rare beef, some chatter tensed up and guessing staff was waiting for us to finish and walk up to counter to pay. Refills on water were quite slow after server passing empty cup a couple times and maybe the fact there was still floaties in water disregarded the constant refills. Not the friendliest regards from staff for comfottability and convenience other than the humility of extra candy's hehehhe. Popped in here super late last night (as in 1120pm on a Wednesday) and was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant packed with only a few spots available. We were promptly seated by friendly staff who kept our water glasses filled - like they literally circle the room every couple minutes. We opted to share the Pho-rrito (think burrito filled with pho with a small side of meatball pho) and a Miss Saigon choose your own adventure combo ($22). For the choose your own adventure meal I selected beef salad rolls (yum!), beef and basil with coconut rice (pleasantly surprised by the large serving), and the planted pot cake which was a little terra cotta pot with three layers (cake bottom, coffee ice cream, and cookie crumble - and a few basil leaves planted on top to be the "plant"). Everything was really good! Oh and I added a smoothie (aka bubble tea in a light bulb) to the combo but noticed I was overcharged by $2 after leaving; if adding on beverages to the combo I'd suggest to double check the bill before paying. The atmosphere was lovely, lively, and creative; the menu vast; and the staff friendly. Plus they are open until midnight Sun-Thur and until 230am Fri-Sat! What more could you ask for? I tried out Miss Saigon south. In terms of food, I tried their Special Beef Noodle Soup. Everything was very well packed. The portion for the noodle soup was also good - it had good amounts of noodle and meat as well as lots of different cuts of meat. The squid appy was the best part honestly, as the pho was very sub par. All that glitters is not gold; the pho soups we're clearly refrigerated before pulled out of the fridge and boiling water thrown on them as the noodles were all stuck together. We checked out this place after several recommendations, but I have never been so disappointed with the quality of food we were served. Not only were the noodles in the pho soggy, but the broth was also extremely diluted and evidently artificial. The skewers were so stale, like chewing through cardboard - we weren't able to finish it because it was just that awful. The mango bubble tea was also quite bland; it just tasted like water with a hint of mango, and the pearls were definitely overcooked as it didn't have that signature level of chewiness usually found in tapioca. At least it came in a cute, lightbulb cup that we were allowed to take home. If it weren't for their friendly staff and late opening hours, I don't think I'd ever consider returning again. read more

We dined in at their NEW Windermere location recently, and were impressed. Their new restaurant is so beautiful & fun! Considering they just opened, we expected slower service but their team was on top of it all evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks! Service was fine but wasn't the cleanest place. Ordered the vegan pho and was incredibly disappointed. It was very watery and flavourless but had a fishy after taste to it. The vegan chicken nearly made me sick from the texture and fishiness. The tofu skin was also hard to eat because there was no flavour in the broth. I tried to mask it with chilli oil but I couldn't eat more than 10% of the dish. I've had good vegan pho before so I know that's not the reason it was so bad. read more

This has to be one of the better Vietnamese places in Edmonton. I normally go to Tau Bay however this place was comparable and very authentic. One of the best bone broths I've had. The rare beef tasted high quality no fat. The service was excellent and fast. The place itself was packed and I can see why! We will be back - one of my new fav pho spots in Edmonton. A great little Vietnamese place with its own parking and a pho challenge too! Love the taste and the ingredients in all the dishes we got, the pho was super tasty and filing. We had spring rolls and green onion cake too. I think we had the ginger chicken too which I would highly recommend as an option if pho isn't your thing. We had the spicy pho and shared it between two people, it had great flavour, and combined with the appetizers it is a good portion size. The one thing I was not as much a fan of was the bubble tea, it tasted good and came in a cute light bulb cup but the portion seemed small for the price. Oh gosh, while I miss the restaurant that used to be in this location, I really was wowed by my experience here tonight. Not only did my group have some great food (the appetizers were wonderful especially the enoki mushrooms!!), but the beverages were wonderful as well! Next time I may just come here for the bubble tea in a lightbulb glass that really does light up. I mean where else can you get such a thing?? My pho was good and flavourful (and I got a regular -- there's no way that I'd be able to have finished anything larger!!). I wasn't actually a huge fan of the mochi ice -- I liked the green tea one but the other two flavours weren't my style of mochi ice cream dessert. The service was pretty great as well. I rather liked the presentation: we got all of our bills split and brought to the table in a pretty awesome way. We actually did wait the longest time I've ever waited for pho (they usually come lightening fast) but we were so hungry and it was near midnight that we were just thankful for the food! Another first I've experienced here is the DOUBLE BOWL! Honestly do believe this is genius and Toronto needs this NOW! It's a bowl that is split in half and there's a menu where you can choose two different dishes in that one bowl. Ever go to a Vietnamese restaurant and crave for a pho AND rice vermicelli? Tired from antique shopping on a lazy Saturday, this restaurant was hubby's pick. We went in blind, I didn't even consult Yelp on this one. Eeeeeeek! We were just coming off of a 6 week healthy eating challenge, and we were craving noodles bad. Real bad. This is a really cute little place tucked in a building with a few other businesses. As soon as we walked in we felt cozy and welcome. The decor of cute and fresh and it smelled incredible! We were so hungry. We settled on a side of spring rolls to share, regular sized special beef noodle soup sans tripe, and tea for me. Hubby had the pork vermicelli bowl. The pho was INCREDIBLE! Tender and tasty meats, delicious, flavourful broth with tons of noodles and the usual accoutrements. I sat quietly inhaling the delightful aromas, carefully tearing up the fresh basil. It was delightful digging into such a satisfying dish. Hubby gave rave reviews for his dish as well. He hates snappy, fatty meat so this dish was perfect. The pork was lean, tasty and grilled nicely. The dish came with a decent sized bowl of fish sauce (he usually has to ask for 2, but not this time). We both enjoyed the fresh and crispy spring rolls that we shared. The service was spot on. The waiter gave us good info about the menu and was generally very helpful. We will return! Perhaps to try the cute drinks that come in the flashy light bulb container, or to sample the phoritta (pho burrito). Miss Saigon is a great late-night pho option, if you're ever like me and get those pho hunger pangs at odd hours (and particularly after a workout)! Service was quick and friendly, and the decor is modern and clean. There's a huge chalkboard wall inside the restaurant showcasing the names of customers who've either won or lost in Miss Saigon's Pho Challenge (2lbs of meat, 2lbs of noodles, 1 gallon of broth + 1 hour to eat) - a contest that I think is unique to Miss Saigon at least in Edmonton! I had the large special pho which came with a ton of meat and noodles in flavourful broth. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is because my broth was slightly lukewarm. My partner's pho was piping hot, however, so perhaps mine was a one time occurrence! We're tempted to try the Pho Challenge as a group with a few friends sometime - so stay tuned for a future post on this! read more

TL:DR - Clean and well decorated restaurant, good pho for a comparable price, would come again. I included that for those of you who don't care to read long drawn out reviews. So lets get started, as I've been meaning to try this place out for a while, I always see it as I drive by or go to the pizza 73 but I've never gone. Well I decided that it was finally time for me to go and I sure was not disappointed. You see, I have an affinity for all things pho, ever since I discovered it when I was in grade 10 in high school, so I've been eager to try this place as it was close to home. In any case, my first visit here was just as I had expected. The restaurant was fairly clean and had a good decor when I first walked in. As they seated me at a table, it was hurriedly cleaned, so they missed a spot which isn't a huge deal breaker for me because I'm all about the food and like I said earlier it looked fairly clean so I was on board. A quick glance at the menu made it feel like a travel tourism magazine for Vietnam, with glossy pages, facts and all. I decided on my go to order whenever I try a new pho place, which is usually the house special, and I also got a side of their spring rolls. After the order was taken, I was able to see the cooks prepare the food with their large open kitchen off to the side of the restaurant. Which was kind of interesting. Upon looking around, I noticed that they had a large wall covered with names of people who had taken upon themselves their in house giant pho bowl challenge. The challenge which consists of 2 lbs of meat, 2 lbs of noodles and 1 gallon of broth seemed to much of a large undertaking for me to do in under an hour. If you're up for the challenge it'll cost you a hefty $50 for the supreme bowl. As I previously mentioned the many names on the wall were people who failed the challenge, and only a paltry 2 names were among those who succeeded. Unless you want your name on the wall of shame, or are incredibly confident in your ability to eat that much in 2 hours, then I'd advise to stick the with normal bowls of pho. Not too long after I ordered, probably about 5-10 minutes max, my food came! I started with the spring rolls, which were about as good as you can expect from spring rolls. I found them to be very crispy and not too oily, just perfect for a small appetizer. I then started on the pho which was pretty large for a regular sized pho but nothing that I couldn't handle. The broth was rich and flavourful, and it was hot but I personally think it could have been a bit hotter to cook the rare sliced beef (it felt more cooked than I have grown accustomed to in pho dishes). All the usual fare of a house special was there beef balls, tripe, tendon, etc. This may sound gross to a person new to pho, and I myself was once one of those people. I gave it a try one time and I've never looked back. The service was pretty good, checking often on whether I needed anything or water refills (a highly underrated point of attention to most servers). I paid and left feeling highly satisfied by my meal. All in all, would recommend this place if you're ever craving a large bowl of pho. The hours on weekends extend till 4am for those late night pho cravings. 4/5 just because it was a good solid pho place, not the best I've ever had but probably up there on my list of places for Edmonton. read more

Came here since me and my friends were craving some Vietnamese food! We ordered the pho and salad rolls. The salad rolls were good, loved the peanut sauce! They don't overfill the salad rolls with noodles. The pho was okay. A bit bland but they gave us TONS of meat! One thing I really love about this restaurant is the atmosphere. It's modern and fun. They pay a lot of attention to the presentation of their meals and the decor of the restaurant. Service was a 5/5! Super attentive. My cup of water was never empty. My wife and I went to Miss Saigon a few days ago intending to use one of the 2 coupons that we had from Valpak for "1/2 Price Vermicelli Bowl" valid for up to 4 people. I'm taking a Star off of this review because despite no other limitations stated on the coupon, the waiter, a Caucasian fellow that I had seen before in previous visits, only took the discount off of one of our 2 vermicelli bowls. When we advised that the coupon was valid for up to 4 people, he insisted that a separate coupon was needed for each diner! Luckily we had the second coupon with us and he applied the second discount. Interestingly, a friend we later spoke with stated that she and 2 others were able to use her single coupon the day before with no issues. Not sure what the actual restriction was supposed to be, however this should be clarified by management with all of the staff for consistency to be applied to all customers, and if a separate coupon is required for each diner, it should be clearly printed! The Vermicelli Bowls themselves were quite good, and I enjoyed the pork which seemed to have a bit more flavor than my wife's chicken, though she preferred the chicken. There are a few places in Edmonton where I feel serve better Vermicelli Bowls, but Miss Saigon's version is quite satisfying. read more

Ever since this joint opened up i've been itching to try it, mainly because many nights i've had some drunk cravings for pho, but a lot, if not all, pho places in edmonton close before 11. Miss Saigon is open late on weekdays, and until 4am on weekends!!! CRAZY! I came here with my boyfriend, unfortunately he was recovering from food poisoning the night before, so he wasn't too hungry or ready to eat. Bless his soul though, he forced himself to eat regardless since he knew I wanted to try it. The parking isn't ON whyte ave, so it made it easy to park without having to worry about paying. They have their own parking lot shared with other stores The decor inside is light bulb themed with some booths and some half booth half tables. Smaller than I had anticipated but still nicely decorated! The sizes here are larger than other places. The regular size at Miss Saigon is a large any place else, and the regular is only $10 dollars! The broth was good, I could tell that they simmered the spices and bones for a long time. The broth itself is really hearty, but had a little too much cilantro for my liking, none the less, still good! They have a big wall painted with chalkboard paint that showed all the spices and things they put inside the broth (such a cute idea!) Another popular item I wanted to try was the bubble tea that came in the light-up light bulbs. I tried the original milk tea, which was a bit too sweet for my liking. The rudest employee I've ever come across. It's the lady with the glasses for lack of better description. For the first minute you walk in the door she snaps sit anywhere. Drops off menu practically throwing it at you. Delivers food and just walks away no enjoy etc. did not come back to the table to fill water I had to get up and go get it myself. Went to pay and once again just throws the bill in front of you with no 'hope everything was enjoyable' nothing but a scowl. The food pick delivery guys got the same treatment. I know a couple of the the drivers and was told she's famous for unpleasant behaviour towards them as well. If you hate your job just do something else as customer service is definitely not in her wheelhouse. Food is good but she puts a bad taste in everyone's mouth. read more

I ordered via "skip the dishes", therefore do not take my review regarding the location and/or table service. I'm basing my review solely on price and food quality. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue soup and some salad rolls. The soup was very tasty but the amount of onions in there was enough to kill 6 people. I couldn't get rid of the after taste for 3 days. The meat was a bit lacking and it wasn't very authentic. There was no mash pork balls one would expect in this soup now was there any pork other than the Vietnamese sausage slices. It was good but not authentic. The salad rolls were really well made with the wrapper being very soft. My only comment is that they gave you choices of shrimp, pork or chicken. But a really good salad roll has pork and shrimp. Therefore I will give them 3 stars. If probably order from them again but won't visit. Bit pricey for what I got but still in the acceptable range. My kids took me here for my birthday. I thought I was on Whyte Ave so it was pleasant surprise to find it a few blocks south where the coveted free parking still exists. Inside the restaurant is very bright and contemporary with a variety of table sizes. Their claim to fame is the pho wrap. I split one order with my son so I could try it. It's good but I still prefer the real thing - pho soup. That wrap would make a great fast lunch on a work day though. I ordered the Pad Thai which was spiced just right and delicious. There are two Pad Thai dishes on the menu, mine was the one with a single hot chili pepper symbol, the other dish had two hot peppers meaning it was spicier. It was a huge plate that I couldn't finish because I also had appetizers and the half order of the pho wrap. In hindsight we should have asked for plates and shared the Pad Thai and the other dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately the dishes didn't come at the same time and my daughter's order took so long that we had to ask if they forgot it. It eventually came. The service was otherwise excellent, attentive and friendly. The prices were average with most dishes being in the $13 to $14 range. We saw a lot of people going in for take-out so the restaurant was very busy. This is a nice place to visit with friends and family because the restaurant certainly wasn't loud.
