fried squid / lime soda / :/water cup
Gabriella O.

Food: I ordered fried squid 9/10! APPETIZER It was really good, the sauce it comes with was top tier, put it with some hoisin, sriracha and chilli oil and just all comes together. Love how there's fried onions, fried pepper, honestly if they had onion rings here i would buy all the time, all in all batter was really nice and crisp. I order #15 XL Pho to share which is mostly all the beef meats, tripe/tendon/meatballs/rare beef 5/10! Broth could use a bit more depth in flavour, used a lot of hoisin and sriracha in my soups per usual but just not a nice warm grandma pho in all honesty, noodles quite soggy and not fresh and tough, good portion of tripe, meat and meatballs. Honestly if ordering pho with rare beef would prefer it to come to my table raw, usually done at most pho places and kind of a high expectancy. If you like your beef rare just ask for on the side and add in yourself after, it will come verry well done. DRINK: had a lime soda, was on sale and was just a regular marg mix with soda, nothing special. Water... glasses came in different sizes which my partner and i found cute and funny but cups had white plastic floaties in the water and not a super a tasteful look. Looked around other table and many people verry iffy on the water cups and drinking it, can see white floaties in cups as well so just a lil bit wary on the cleanliness and presentation. SERVICE: Got seated right away and chose a nice corner spot which had a tv to be able to watch the game and popular sports. Time for taking orders was a bit slow and would say not x consistent enough. If details matter to the order would suggest bringing up more options upon request and seeking some authentique info for delivery in communication. Appetizers came in a matter of time, drinks was ok on delivery . Upon finishing up meals, waiting a good bit for a check-in on the bill or to order any more drinks or food, after requesting more rare beef, some chatter tensed up and guessing staff was waiting for us to finish and walk up to counter to pay. Refills on water were quite slow after server passing empty cup a couple times and maybe the fact there was still floaties in water disregarded the constant refills. Not the friendliest regards from staff for comfottability and convenience other than the humility of extra candy's hehehhe. Suggestion : Appetizers are pretty good, if getting pho to share maybe get noodles on side but do not recommend a nice hearty pho from miss saigon All in all thank you for having my partner and I, hope to see you soon on whyte :)

Beef and basil with coconut rice

Popped in here super late last night (as in 1120pm on a Wednesday) and was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant packed with only a few spots available. We were promptly seated by friendly staff who kept our water glasses filled - like they literally circle the room every couple minutes. We opted to share the Pho-rrito (think burrito filled with pho with a small side of meatball pho) and a Miss Saigon choose your own adventure combo ($22). For the choose your own adventure meal I selected beef salad rolls (yum!), beef and basil with coconut rice (pleasantly surprised by the large serving), and the planted pot cake which was a little terra cotta pot with three layers (cake bottom, coffee ice cream, and cookie crumble - and a few basil leaves planted on top to be the "plant"). Everything was really good! Oh and I added a smoothie (aka bubble tea in a light bulb) to the combo but noticed I was overcharged by $2 after leaving; if adding on beverages to the combo I'd suggest to double check the bill before paying. The atmosphere was lovely, lively, and creative; the menu vast; and the staff friendly. Plus they are open until midnight Sun-Thur and until 230am Fri-Sat! What more could you ask for? We will most definitely be back!

This is by far the worst meal I've ever ordered for delivery. Ordered: Salad rolls with beef Green onion cake Grill Pork Chop Vermicelli Curry Chicken, Coconut Rice The beef in the salad rolls was full of fat. I actually had to spit it out. The green onion cake was doused (not an exaggeration, see pictures) in oil. The pork was overcooked in the Vermicelli dish. The curry chicken was bland. Super disappointing. Avoid this place and try ANYWHERE else. I would give a zero if I could.

Best pho in Edmonton so far! Service was a bit slow, granted it was busy. Broth was exceptional, generous portions. Came back twice already because the food is so good.

Beef Skewers

We checked out this place after several recommendations, but I have never been so disappointed with the quality of food we were served. Not only were the noodles in the pho soggy, but the broth was also extremely diluted and evidently artificial. The skewers were so stale, like chewing through cardboard - we weren't able to finish it because it was just that awful. The mango bubble tea was also quite bland; it just tasted like water with a hint of mango, and the pearls were definitely overcooked as it didn't have that signature level of chewiness usually found in tapioca. At least it came in a cute, lightbulb cup that we were allowed to take home. If it weren't for their friendly staff and late opening hours, I don't think I'd ever consider returning again.

a plate of spring rolls and a bowl of dipping sauce

We dined in at their NEW Windermere location recently, and were impressed. Their new restaurant is so beautiful & fun! Considering they just opened, we expected slower service but their team was on top of it all evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks! Our faves that we tried were: - spicy chicken spring rolls - pork chop rice - A5 Wagyu pho - Vietnamese coffee ice cream (the one that looks like a potted plant) Definitely show some love and support to this local gem. Their menu is quite large, so there's something for everyone :)

"X-Large" lol.
Janey T.

I'm extremely disappointed with this "X-Large" pho order. The portion of noodles and rare beef/brisket filled up about half the bowl. The beansprouts were not even a handful. This is a reminder to myself that I will not be returning.

The empty plate because I couldn't help myself

Omg the service was the best over ever encountered !!! The food was amazing. I can't wait to try more

Excellent food and service is awesome! Try the double duo bowl if you can't decide. Its really good.

A great little Vietnamese place with its own parking and a pho challenge too! Love the taste and the ingredients in all the dishes we got, the pho was super tasty and filing. We had spring rolls and green onion cake too. I think we had the ginger chicken too which I would highly recommend as an option if pho isn't your thing. We had the spicy pho and shared it between two people, it had great flavour, and combined with the appetizers it is a good portion size. The one thing I was not as much a fan of was the bubble tea, it tasted good and came in a cute light bulb cup but the portion seemed small for the price. Lots of seating when we went and very nice staff with a good vibe in the space.

Taro smoothie! In a light bulb that lights up!

Oh gosh, while I miss the restaurant that used to be in this location, I really was wowed by my experience here tonight. Not only did my group have some great food (the appetizers were wonderful especially the enoki mushrooms!!), but the beverages were wonderful as well! Next time I may just come here for the bubble tea in a lightbulb glass that really does light up. I mean where else can you get such a thing?? My pho was good and flavourful (and I got a regular -- there's no way that I'd be able to have finished anything larger!!). I wasn't actually a huge fan of the mochi ice -- I liked the green tea one but the other two flavours weren't my style of mochi ice cream dessert. The service was pretty great as well. I rather liked the presentation: we got all of our bills split and brought to the table in a pretty awesome way. I look forward to returning to this location as the food was great, the presentation was unique and I do want to try a lightbulb bubble tea drink at some point!

This is one of my favourite vietnamese places for soup and appetizers. The rice and vermicelli dishes are mediocre in comparison so make sure to order what they specialize in. If I come with a big group I like to order as many appetizers as possible as it's similar to vietnamese street foods like crepes, tapioca dumplings and deep fried goodies. All of it is authentic and delicious. My must orders here are the duck salad and soup combo. It's what I come here for as no other place in edmonton has it on the menu that I know of. And it's pretty darn delicious. If I don't get that. The bun bo hue is loaded with so many meats that I never can finish it! I can't wait to go back to this locally owned business run by a family. Although service is not the greatest. They do provide whatever you need if you ask for it. They definitely won't bother you when you visit here. As most people just eat quick and leave. It's not one of those places you sit and chat and have drinks at. But for what they offer. It's affordable fast convenient and authentic. One of the best in edmonton!

Little has changed on the interior, except for the addition of a large fish tank. The menu is very typical of Vietnamese noodle houses, featuring a good selection of pho noodle soup, vermicelli noodle bowls, and rice dishes. I opted for a bowl of pho with medium sliced beef and brisket. My soup was full of meat which was reasonably tender and lean, and came in a broth that was well-seasoned. Colleen, my co-Volunteer Coordinator, ordered a bowl of Thai spicy pho, and she ordered it without any meat. She was happy with the flavour of her soup and its abundance of noodles. I started with a green onion cake, finding the two large rings of fried dough and green onions to be large and not too greasy, as well as a bit cheaper than I've had elsewhere. I also decided to do something I rarely do when I order pho - even though I find the complimentary green tea and broth from the soup to be more than enough liquid intake for one meal, I decided to try one of the iced drinks. Being a dreary winter day I felt some extra vitamin C was in order, and opted for a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It was incredibly fresh and full of pulp - I literally felt like I was drinking an orange in liquid form. Prices are in line, if not lower, than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Our entire meal, which also included a can of pop for Colleen, cost less than $25 before the tip. Service was fast and friendly and neither of us had any complaints about the food. Winter is the perfect time for a steaming bowl of pho, so consider heading to Viet Huong.

Service is fast, but minimal. Nobody came to check on us at all during the duration of our meal. I had the beef satay soup, which, unfortunately, is only available in the regular size. I normally don't find the regular size filling enough to last me until the next meal. The soup was good though; not overly spicy with a nice peanut flavor to it. Not a fan of how lean the beef was though; I prefer some fattiness to my meat. My brother and mom both ordered a large bowl of pho and they felt the broth was watered down and bland. My mom felt the large size just meant more broth and did not feel full at the end of her meal. My mom also did not like how lean/tough the beef in her pho was either. For 2 large bowls of pho, a regular size bowl of satay, a small bowl of noodle only and a side order of spring rolls came out to just over $56. The Groupon is a good deal, but I don't know if I'd make this place one of my go-tos for Vietnamese food as there is definitely better out there. Staff won't allow happy hour specials at discounted price despite being in happy hour time frame. Hoang long is a modern clean space with bamboo accents and a newly renovated area. There is a large patio out front for summer. But it being closed off made the entrance kinda blending in. I was looking for the entrance and walked right by it. Trying to figure out how you get in is a slight challenge. As the door blends in so well and it appears it's just the patio. But that's the entrance. I visited quite early during happy hour at around 6pm. The place was entirely empty except for staff which was slightly disheartening. But I'm sure this place is bustling during the lunch hours. Wait staff were slow to greet me so I sat myself and grabbed my own menus. The menu Is vast. A huge range of thai and vietnamese foods. From soups, sandwiches, grilled meats and stews. Looking through the menu was overwhelming but at least there is something for everyone. We decided on trying the chicken satays with peanut sauce. These were a famous item popular during the taste of edmonton. They did not disappoint. They charred them so nicely I could hear the fire crackling in the dead of winter. But the best part was the peanut sauce. They don't provide this during the taste of edmonton. But it brings the dish to new heights. I would say...stick to the grilled meats here. They don't disappoint. I throughly enjoyed my bun bo hue. It was authentic and tasty. It made my list for top 5 in edmonton for sure. Portion was perfect and the ratio of meats and noodles were just right. Another great dish. My only vice was that it was happy hour...advertised from 3-7pm. But the staff would not allow discounted prices despite it only being 6pm. They had decent options like wine, beer or a customized cocktail for $4. The server states happy hour is over despite it clearly stating it is until 7pm on the menu. I point to the board and he says it's full price. Whatever. I don't like misrepresentation on menus. And discrepancys are misleading. For this I minused a star. Service was haphazard. I seated myself. Got my own condiments and even got my own drinks. I had to go to the counter to order my food and pay at the register. All the server did was put the food on my table and clean it up afterwards. The whole process downgraded the whole modern vibe to more of a cafeteria style establishment. I felt jipped tipping bc i basically served myself. So minus another star. Overall. The food was great. Slightly overpriced. But the atmosphere reflects the price in the heart of downtown. Service was okay but the whole happy hour misrepresentation was a huge turnoff. I won't ever be buying drinks here in the future. Bc hey...they don't follow the advertised prices on the menu. It's decent. I would revisit if I am in the area. But it definetly won't be a go to place that I would drive to if I was hungry.

Inside there was just one table occupied but there is a decent amount of seating for the lunch time crowd. It seemed cleaned. The combos they offer are a rice or noodle (pad thai that didn't look very appetizing) and then up to 3 or 4 items. The food was under heat lamps so I could see what the options were. I decided to get the fried rice and a few items. I choose a chicken first and looked at the other items before deciding on the vegetables with cashews. The woman serving me had the rectangle take out container about 2/3 full and she kept suggesting food such as the green beans and then the sweet and sour pork. Both didn't look very appetizing. I think she was hoping I would pay for as much food to get rid of since the lunch time crowd had passed but she wasn't generous with the quantity. I decided on the beef skewer and then was done. At half price I paid $7.35. I brought the food home and heated it up. I liked the beef skewer but the rest of the food wasn't very good. The food tasted greasy and I had to use my fingers to eat the chicken was it had lots of bones. I'm not sure if it's from this food, but I didn't feel well after. Definitely would not pay $14 for the food I had as lots of other great restaurants around. It would probably be better to go during the lunch hour when the food is hot and fresh but I'll pass next time I'm in the area.
