I wanted a sectional but the dimensions had to accommodate a narrower room. I love that my sofa is not so big and deep that its uncomfortable, like many trendy furniture stores. I love that I could choose arm style, leg style, seat depth, back height and fabric! My sectional can easily be changed to a couch configuration, that all cushions are zippered, and with the same high quality fabric all around, and that the cushions and pillows have the highest quality stuffing and therefore have retained their shape with no fading, even after 4 years of regular use. It still looks brand new. Now, considering adding one more interior seat space to make it a bit longer (if I move, I can make both sides the same length too). Still love this investment which has given me the exact style I was looking for!)

When I can I try to support family owned businesses. I did received the sofa timely, but it was made so poorly, it had multiple defects! Why did White House furniture except this sofa in the first place and then send it to me? They offered to take this defected sofa back for a re-stocking fee of 25%, can you imagine that!!! The sofa had to be sent back three times to fix the multiple defects. I asked to speak to the owner of White House several times, since the customer service rep. said she could not make any decisions, no return calls from the owner. Six months later, White House assured me this time everything was corrected. It did look good, but the one arm was still not right. I believe two arms on the same sofa should match. I asked the store for compensation, they offered a minuscule amount of money, which I would not accept. I was going to use this money to hire an upholsterer to fix the one remaining problem, the arm. The sofa belongs to White House now. Terrible experience with Hallagan furniture and the White House store. So much aggravation and wasted time. No quality control on either side!

I Googled antique stores in Rochester and was underwhelmed with the supplied list and moved on to Yelp! for advice. I found Useless Objects listed and headed right over. I was welcomed into the store by Blaire and within a matter of minutes Bruce joined us on our quest to seek out requested objects from top stock, from back stock and from "where the hell did you have that?" stock! They were amazingly fun to interact with and great conversationalists. They went out of their way to make me feel at home and welcome. It was unbelievable how hard they worked to satisfy my desire to add to my 1939 New York World's Fair memorabilia and vintage thermoset resin (Catalin and Bakelite) collections. Bruce was easy to work with on prices, some things I bought, some I left, but we were able to quickly talk our way to a value for each item in hand. If you are looking for your usual antique mall with little hang tags and elderly people greeting you as you walk in the door while all clumped up at the front counter conversing with one another and making you feel like an outsider... Then UO is not for you. Conversely, my visit to Useless Objects has to be one of the most rewarding and enjoyable antique stops I've made in a long time. Heck, their service and smiles were so good that I was driven to login and leave this lengthy review! Great people, great stuff and they know where it's at...if you just know how to ask!
