2 hours after taking delivery on a sleeper sofa, we realized that the color was wrong and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. We called both the store and customer service asking about an exchange (not a refund, just an exchange for something more comfortable) and were told that all furniture sales are final and that they would happily take a return on a mattress but not on any furniture. This is an odd and illogical policy. Sharing our experience to try and warn potential customers since this policy was not mentioned by the salesperson when we purchased the sofa. We are now going to donate the sofa and buy a new bed at Raymour and Flanagan. Buyer beware. read more

We purchased three sets of new beds (and bedding accessories) from City Mattress in June of 2018. Our outstanding experience, first and foremost, is owing to manager Steven Rosenberg, who worked with us extensively at the Henrietta store in Rochester, NY. Steve's knowledge of the products was invaluable in tailoring our purchases to our exact needs. His honest, caring, professional opinions proved to be 'spot on,' providing us with many of the highest-quality bed and bedding products on the market, at a fair and reasonable price. The Prana Sleep line, exclusive to City Mattress, has proven to be a great choice for us. The other sales staff at the Henrietta store location were also wonderful. We made several trips to the store prior to 'sealing the deal.' John Henderson and Gary DiSano were standouts. Like Steven, they could not have been more helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Tonia Prince at the Pittsford store was also helpful during the brief contact we had with her. When we required a small in-home height adjustment to two of the three great beds we purchased, Steve immediately put us in touch with James Cummings, a customer service expert who, at our home, immediately assessed the best way to make our great purchase even better. After purchasing the wrong size mattress & box spring encasement covers due to miscommunication on my part as well as the sales associate's part, I called the store and spoke with the manager, Mike and he agreed to exchange the wrong size for the correct size even after I had opened the packages. Mike was kind, compassionate, and flexible with the exchange. In addition, while talking to him during the transaction I asked about pillows and he took the time to show me a few options that he thought would work for me. Excellent experience being a first time bed shopper! My boyfriend and I came in this last Saturday and a very welcoming man greeted us (I believe his name was Steve?) showed us six beds around our price range and comfort needs. Buyer be ware. The foam in the Pranasleep system mattress breaks down to a soft mess within two years. The foam does spring back so that it does not leave a big body impression. Thus, company does not have to do any warranty work. But, the firmness is totally gone. Big money for crap. read more

I called City Mattress in Henrietta while I was on my way home on the NYS Thruway. The salesperson Eric was very knowledge and efficient when I inquired about models and pricing. I was so pleased at the ease of speaking with him that I decided to get off the Henrietta exit on my way home. When I walked in the store I was greeted by Eric and he showed me the mattress we had discussed. I noticed a different model close by that I was interested in because it was a similar model to the others I have for my kids. I asked for the best price, he gave me a great deal and that was it. He set up delivery for the next day and I was out of the store in less than 20 minutes. The delivery guys were also on time and they also asked if they should remove their shoes which is nice because most contractors do not and it's annoying. Overall, this was my first time buying from City mattress and it won't be my last. I actually called another sore in the area I had bought three mattresses from before I called City and the sales guy was short and not helpful. Their loss! I went to the city mattress location in Rochester, NY with a very big problem. I was in the United States Air Force for over 6 years and was injured on duty. I now have a very severe back and neck problem that requires me to take morphine 3 times a day. I am in pain most of the day, so my saving grace was going to bed where everyone should feel comfortable, however I was never comfortable in bed. We started with an innerspring mattress from a discount store but within 3 months there was a large divot in it all the padding was matted down and I could feel every spring in my back and neck causing great discomfort, a lack of sleep, and a grumpy husband and father. Then we moved onto the self-proclaimed miracle mattress the sleep number bed. I thought my sleep problems were over, but they were worse than ever. This thing was a glorified air mattress. It had no side support it felt like I was balancing in bed to avoid falling off the edge and it felt like a cheap air mattress with no real support. Finally my wife insisted we go to City Mattress and try one more time because I was about to give up and wasn't going to get another good night's sleep. Our salesman walked us through the different types of mattresses and exactly what was causing my discomfort in each of the beds we had tried. He told me he had a solution for me though. All I thought was another salesman trying to sell a product. He said that in fact he had suffered lower back pain and purchased a PranaSleep mattress himself and ever since has urged anyone with back or neck discomfort to purchase one. He said he had never received a complaint from anyone who purchased a PranaSleep. So I agreed, hoping for a miracle. The City Mattress delivery crew dropped it off and I was a little alarmed at the odor but it quickly dissipated. That night when we went to bed I said a little prayer and fell asleep. The next day I didn't wake up until noon - sleeping a full 14 hours!! I was hoping for 5-7 hours with only waking up once or twice. I didn't toss and turn and I didn't wake up once. Finally a mattress that delivers what it promises. I recommend PranaSleep to everyone I know regardless of ailments.
