After a few Lounge 31 staff & service went beyond our expectations- twice!! Came here after long day of business travel, really looking forward to Sushi. To our dismay, their time listing on Yelp was wrong, the restaurant was listed 'open' until 2am, and we arrived at 10:45 and the kitchen was closed, no sushi for us!! We were distraught and hungry, but David, the amazing bartender took incredible care of us, handcrafting cocktails and even though we couldn't have sushi, he creating a cheese plate snack to tide us over. We were so happy we agreed to come back the next day during our two day trip to eat the sushi. The next day, we arrived (again starving) and *again! to our dismay, Yelp hours were wrong :( and they weren't serving sushi until 4pm (it was 3pm)... they went out of their way to take care of us since we had driven almost an hour back to come back for sushi, and opened the kitchen early for us. THANK YOU. BRAVO. We love Lounge 31 and will come back again and again when we are in Dallas, especially for David's honey vodka & white cranberry cocktail! The staff were kind and incredible. But to the management, please, oh please, fix the hours on your yelp listing, and/or start serving sushi at 3pm when you say you open. read more

I went here a week or two ago and I had a blonde server who was very rude and added on a tip without my consent. I have always loved Bistro and Lounge 31, but I had an extremely unpleasant experience recently. The server brought me the most expensive drink on the menu, almost double the price of the drink I had ordered, but failed to inform me she brought me the wrong drink until after she brought the bill. Keep in mind, these drinks look very similar so I had no idea it was the wrong one. When I told her that's not what I had ordered after seeing the bill, she said I quote "Too late now, you already drank it." I decided not to make a fuss and just paid it anyway. Because of this incident and the terrible service she provided throughout the rest of the night, I decided not to tip. This wouldn't have been that big of a deal until I saw she had added on her own tip, essentially stealing from me, the next day. When trying to get ahold of managers multiple times, I never heard back. Very disappointing and will not be returning. read more

A waitress accidentally dropped a dish over the balcony when setting it on our table. The dish did not hit anyone. Over an hour later a manager (never got her name), came up to our table and told us someone was bleeding because we dropped a glass and needed to get out. She walked away before we even realized what was happening. She then made two waitresses clear the table with unfinished drinks we had paid for. I would like to note no one at the table had more than 2 drinks and the mistakes was admittedly the waitresses fault. I have never had a more rude experience at a restaurant. There is also a room connected to the patio upstairs that can be used for private parties or the main dining area downstairs if you are looking for something a little more formal. **Pro Tip: Go on Sunday's for all day happy hour that includes 1/2 off sushi** The dynamite roll is out of this world, one is not enough to share and part of the reason this place deserves 5-stars. This is one of my favorite places to go...been going here since I moved to Dallas area which is almost 8 years. Great place, great food and music. Best Sunday brunch in Dallas. I always get tuna tower, and usually comes w a chip on top...now that we are in this pandemic I went yesterday for the first time since they reopened and we ordered the tuna tower and I asked if we could have more chips, and the girl was super sweet and she said it would be extra charge of $5 which was totally okey....to find out they charge $5 for 5 pieces of chips and I was blown away. I have been to so many great places all over the world and no one charges $1 per chip. But still love the place, I might bring my own chips next time. read more

My friends and I came here to celebrate my birthday and have a drink before we went to dinner. There was no host stand or anyone standing at the entrance so there was confusion if it was open seating. My friends and I sat at table that was empty with no reserved sign on it. A woman named Sarah came up to us, reached over the table aggressively to get our attention & moved the cocktail book. She said with a rude condescending tone that we had to have a reservation or check in with the host. We asked, where can we sit to wait and she was extremely rude. She had a clear attitude towards us for no reason and gave a very passive aggressive answer with a rude smirk on her face. I figured your employees would have a little more class and courtesy at a nice restaurant/lounge. We explained to the bartender what happened and he gave us free drinks because he said this has happened before. I'm very displeased with how I was treated her and how condescending your employees are. If I could give 0 stars I would. The drinks were good, but the service was terrible. I have always been a fan of the Lombardi Family Concepts. Lounge 31 is tucked away in the middle of the Highland Park Village. Its a beautifully tiled, multiple level "treehouse" situated directly above Bistro 31 is comprised of a patio flanked by two small lounges, and offers excellent Sushi as well as being able to order from the menu down stairs. You can also sit downstairs by the pretty fountain. They have oysters and amazing chocolate martinis. I love the tuna tower, sashmi, The Lounge 31 Roll, Hamachi Tempura Roll, and the mini lobster tacos! The patio upstairs is great for first dates or business happy hour with a chill vibe. It has a retractable roof, so spring and fall is gourgous. Sometimes they have DJ's spin on the weekend durning happy hour. The champagne room is connected to the patio upstairs that can be used for private parties or the main dining area downstairs if you are looking for something a little more formal (Bistro31). The staff is excellent. Well managed and consistent! But its not cheap as you get what you pay for. Quality and prep of food, highness cocktails, career staff, and beautiful design. As you can tell by the prior reviews, they have trouble with reservations. Confirmed with a gentleman twice for a work party reservation of 30. I called the day before the reservation to confirm, and they say they have no such reservation and that they don't take reservations of 30, and insinuate I'm lying. My girlfriend has been here a few times but this was my first and everything was good. Since we weren't that hungry so we just ordered a few rolls, tuna tower, and desserts. My friend wanted to hit up a champagne bar in Dallas, so I searched online and found this spot. At first, I was a little apprehensive because Highland Village has a reputation of uppity people. However, I was wrong and loved the area and this bar. We were gracefully delivered to the bar area by a handsome Latin man. We were served by Megan who was super nice and knew exactly what we wanted. I had the Sangria with berries and another with peach. YUM! The whether was beautiful and the aurora was on point. One word: LOVE. This is one of my new favorite spots in Dallas. I can't believe it took me so long to check out Lounge 31. What a hidden gem! It's hard to describe the ambience of this place. It kind-of reminds me of some of the establishments I visit when I'm in Santa Barbara for work. Also, if you are fan of Toulouse, Taverna or any of the Lombardi concepts around Dallas, you'll like the upscale atmosphere here because both the Lounge and the Bistro are owned by the same people. Of course, Lounge 31 is in the middle of Highland Park Village, so you're going to get a typical "pretentious" HP crowd; but ironically enough, everyone is super nice and very laid back here which is such a breath of fresh air in Dallas. The bartender, Steve, is a hoot! He's quite attentive and makes you feel very welcome, and not to mention, he's hilarious. Let me just say... This is some of the best people-watching in all of Dallas. When you come here, there is no way you can't have a good time. If you're bored, just watch what's going on around you, because it's probably more interesting than your life anyway haha. read more

Lounge 31 is a nice spot I used to go to for drinks. I haven't been in years, but from what I can remember, it had an upbeat crowd, always packed, good drinks, and pretty good sushi. I could never understand what kind of crowd they were marketing, because there would be cougars there on the prowl, older men trying to be hip, next to SMU grad students, next to post grads looking for an upscale place to hang out at. I think I gave up trying to figure it out and that's why I haven't been back. It's not the most inviting lounge, so its better to go with a group of people so that you can have others to talk to. I remember it being hard to get service at this place and you're lucky if you can find a place to sit. It's hard to get to the bar because after people order drinks, they stand at the bar making it hard for others to come up to it to place orders. All in all, if I lived closer in the area, I would visit it more. read more

This is Dallas at its best. The presumptiousness aside I love the way this place FEELS. Everybody here is really nice, the drinks are good and strong (my favorite combination) and the ambiance, like I've mentioned is above reproach. You can select areas that are more quiet than others depending on your mood. A little something for everyone. We went on a Friday, entered through the side, and left early Saturday morning. Half priced Sundays are my go to for lunch/dinner on a Sunday. Incredible sushi for the price. Atmosphere is lively. Service seems a bit slower on Sundays, but really there's no rush. My husband threw my 30th birthday party here and it went off w/o a hitch. I had a blast and the service and drinks were impeccable. He rented out the Champagne room which was decorated beautifully and super cozy. Our waitress and bartender were super attentive and kept everyone happy. I love Lombardi restaurants and this one is not an exception, I would totally recommend this place for a cozy drink spot with friends or a bigger celebration. The Kir 31 with elderflower is delicious and my husband said he had the best "old fashioned" he's ever tasted. You enter around the side though...just follow the sound of people having fun. Once you get upstairs there are 3 different spaces to choose from. We chose the quiet one on the left and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The decor is beautiful, the service is good, happy hour is offered on Saturdays and the champagne cocktails were delicious! This place has an awesome feel and feels more like you are on vacation somewhere in California (maybe Santa Barbara or La Jolla) then in the middle of Dallas. I can't really explain why, partially in the the colors, partially the tiling or the stairs, it just comes together really well. The bartender was great and we had a fun time. Though the food was hit or miss and the service underwhelming, the location and breezy, open-air ambiance made Lounge 31 a destination worth revisiting. I believe this trendy, well-designed spot deserves another chance. When the food was right, it was really right. Starting with dessert, the gelato-sandwiches and the chocolate mousse were soooo good. The bruschetta trio was beautiful, and were several of the brunch items, such as the lobster tempura plate and the crab cake royale. I heard raves about the risotto. On the other hand, my bistro omelet was just average, and the lemon-ricotta pancakes were...missing? It would have filled a small child, I imagine, but my friend with that breakfast left pretty hungry. And our server...from the clearing of saucers when the coffee cups were in our hands, to the half-full cups which we had to ask for (and wait for) each and every time, to her blasé, straight-faced indifference, left m-u-c-h to be desired. I ordered some rolls on postmates and the order went thru and everything and after 40 min (which is when my order should have been delivered to my door) postmates notify me that the restaurant canceled my order because they were "unable" to take order, and you guys took 40 minutes to let me know that? I came here last night to grab some dinner and drinks. The bouncer said we had to have reservations to go upstairs but could grab one of the last remaining tables out front, which is completely understandable. The confusing part is why my party sat there for 30 minutes without being offered any water or someone to take our order. We asked two of the non-wait staff if we could have someone come grab our order but to no avail. There's only a handful of tables out front so it's pretty obvious if you're not serving one table in particular. I'm hoping it was a one off situation or just incompetence. The optics look bad when the staff serving other tables will glance over and just go on about their business. I know we felt frustrated and the tables around us were able to pick up on what was happening. We ended up finally leaving. Lombardi concepts are all successful for a reason. We went to check it out on a whim and ended up ordering a bottle of champagne and some sushi to snack on. The hostess was beautiful and super friendly as was the waitress. Where do they find these gorgeous people with such lovely demeanors? Truly beautiful people inside and out.
