Service was great here, quick and efficient. We were seated right away, inside, no view of the harbor. If you fancy a view, do wait for a patio view of the harbor, well worth it during your meal. We had walked in and around the harbor enough, so, not seeing it for an hour or two wouldn't be a bother. It's a nicer and more posh restaurant and is in a touristy area, prices are a bit higher, but worth it. We had some wine. I had the salmon and a salad, my friend had the halibut, both of our meals were delicious.

Fantastic food. Good mix on the menu to even satisfy the non seafood lover in you.

There are many fantastic restaurants in the Oslo area. This is another one especially on a beautiful day to eat outside. Good service and a great seafood soup followed by Moulin Frites. Both were off the starter menu and both are available as entrees in of course larger versions. These two off the starter filled me up.

Gin with grapefruit

Great view in a nice place. Got a seat very quickly. The waiter was very polite. I enjoyed the scallop ceviche and cod loin. Both were good. But to be honest, the scallops were truly amazing. I wish they could make that as a main course. The flavors of the lime, avocados, sesame seeds, and some wasabi was so exciting. The gin and grapefruit drink I had was a bit strong, but I had to "just deal with it". The white wine made me feel better. Great ace for either a girls night out, dinner date, or even a "it's just me" date night.

Steamed mussels

Friendly service, great view of the harbor, delicious food but perhaps slightly overpriced due to being in a touristy area. But if you're going to be tourist trapped, it might as well be this delicious! I had the Taste of Norway appetizer platter, the herbed cheese and the scallop were particularly delicious! The mussels were also good, but about what you would get anywhere. Overall a nice experience.

I had lunch here since it had a nice view of the waterfront. It was a nice and sunny day so we sat outside. They had heat lamps and furs on the chairs in case you feel cold. We ordered the large fish soup, cured salmon, and the reindeer meatballs. The portions were small for the price but Norway was expensive everywhere. The dishes were all delicious. The salmon and meatball portions were very small. The fish soup was filling however. The food was fresh and I appreciated the greens that came with the entrees. The service was very good - our waiter was helpful and came by often.

Meet Steve; Steve was looking at our plates. The waitress said she's never seen Steve go after anyone's food, but he looked hungry.

So we were trolling the harbor in Oslo trying to find a place that wasn't too touristy. We picked this place, and got seated outside with a good view of the harbor. I was on a quest for good, local craft brew pubs, this place was not one of them. The menu was a little more upscale and focused on seafood. When in oslo, eat like a norwegian, and I did. In addition to oysters, I had to have the whale! Ahoy, there! Now before any one starts hating on me, eating whale, specifically the minke whale, is totally legal in norway. And this whale is not on any endangered list and it is in fact thriving due to strict control on hunting. Some people consider it a delicacy and its gaining popularity with the hipsters. Listen, other people go for reindeer (would you eat Rudolph?) In Norway, I go for moby! I paired it with a local Hefeweizen bier, nothing special, and went to town. The texture and taste of the whale steak was not that exciting. I've read if prepared well, while having a gamey taste, the minke whale has a great flavor. It was good, and honestly reminded me of liver. I did clean my plate. Regardless, the waitress was great, spoke English making our ordering easy for us monoglots, and the view was awesome.

Large seafood platter (also comes with mussels which were amazing)

We wanted to try seafood in Norway since we knew that is what they're known for. We found Louise Restaurant and Bar by just walking around, and decided to give it a try. Excellent selections, and very fresh. Good sized portions, so it was def worth the price. Friendly waitstaff, an English menu if you ask!

Blankets provided for those cold Norwegian evenings!

Great food, even better views of the harbor and boardwalk. Like most outdoor seating in Oslo, they provide warming blankets, which we needed, and it was summer. I'd recommend the seafood in this place as it is tops. They were on the slow side this day, but I'd gladly come back.

Seafood soup - awesome!

I really enjoyed my lunch here. I got there a little after 11am and had my pick of any table I wanted in the seating outside. I have been to this restaurant several times already so I already knew it would good. Today I ordered the seafood soup and the fresh shrimp for lunch. The seafood soup was delicious with lots of chunky seafood (salmon, mussels, etc) in every bite. The soup was creamy but not too heavy. After that, my plate of fresh shrimp arrived. It's a bit messy but so good. I think the shrimp are small in size but they are fresh and tasty. Not really familiar with shrimp in this area but maybe that is normal size. It came with an aioli that was so good. I also had some bread on the side. Overall, a light lunch and I was very happy with it. Prices are high, especially in this area but you're paying for both the food and the ambiance. Lots of tourists in this area so expect to pay more. The service was great, the waitress was very attentive and checked in on me often. I will definitely return for future meals.

Great decor and location, but over-priced tiny portion of mussels...It felt like a tourist trap.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a nice young lady and asked her for a table for 5. She said, hold on and that she would be right back. Less than 30 seconds later, a skinny man in all black with a thin mustache comes up to the front. He looks at me, no greeting, no smile, and then with this look and a roll of his head of what do you want, said, "yes?" I told him, the other female was already helping us. He then said, what do you want. I proceeded to tell him we were wanting a table for 5. He then said, we have no table when clearly there were tables open and no one else waiting. My husband then said, well she told us to wait. He replies with, "She is a nobody here. Just a waitress. She knows nothing. We cannot seat you." We travel to a foreign country only to be met with racism! Asian group walks in and automatically turns us away. Thankfully this was our only bad experience in Norway. All I have to say to that man is you did us a favor because we ended up at Lofoten and had the best meal and service ever! Spent over a $1,000 on our bill and didn't care. Everything here was simply, just fair or special, not good and not great considering it's reputation and price. Upon our arrival the host stand seem to be the beginning of confusion and poor service. It's one of those restaurants with all hands on deck causes too many hands in the pot! Once seated several people came to assist us and it wasn't because of the language barrier each one of them spoke English fluently. We placed our order, got our food, ate it was full but not necessarily satisfied. There was one server she was pretty decent but the rest of the experience was mediocre. The only standout were the scallops, perfectly cooked and delicious. Look at the pictures because I really don't have the energy to discuss my average meal! Would I go back or suggest this restaurant? NOPE!

The Salmon was another seafood restaurant on our list of places to eat while in Oslo…read more It was located in Aker Brygge which was a newer and expensive neighborhood. There was both indoor and covered outdoor seating. We did not have a reservation but came early enough to snag an inside table. It was the right choice as the rain really started to come down about that time. One caveat was that we had to wrap up our meal within 1.5 hours which wasn't a problem for us. The menu was unique as it was printed inside a newspaper. One just had to flip pages to find the drink, food and dessert menus. Given the namesake of the restaurant we opted to try three different salmon preparations: Our favorite dish was the salmon tataki which was lightly grilled in a ponzu sauce. If it was larger then we would've gladly eaten this as a main dish. The grilled salmon came in second as it was perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were a great accompaniment, creamy with truffle flavors. Our least favorite was the hot smoked salmon and pasta salad. There was an unusual taste to the pasta salad that detracted from the salmon. Service was just ok and it took a long while before we could get any attention to close our check. While tipping wasn't expected in Norway, the Salmon's credit card terminals start with a tipping option screen before you can pay. If you're curious about salmon farming in Norway then check out the exhibit at the other end of the restaurant.

The Salmon does an excellent job of showcasing the fresh and wonderful quality of salmon in many different dishes. The tasting plate was one of the best dishes they had. There were three different pieces of salmon with different accompaniment. I don't remember the exact cuts, but one was Lox, and the other was a cold smoke. My guest got a ginger salmon salad she loved. We also got the torched salmon nigiri to taste. The hype is real! This is definitely a must try! They get extremely busy, so a reservation is a must! They had indoor and outdoor seating with a heated patio (it was a bit chilly when we were there).
