Delicious seafood place close to central station. Indoor and outdoor seating and really fresh seafood. I had the fish cream soup and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were delicious. Crab legs and mussels also looked really good fast service and yummy

Fiskeriet was the first eatery in Oslo I visited, which was a great start of my Norway trip. Thanks to Yelp, I found Fiskeriet as a popular place for Norwegian seafood, and since I love seafood and wanted to try traditional Norwegian eats, it was a no-brainer. Fiskeriet is located in Oslo's sentrum, so is walking distance to the city center, where many shops, restaurants and hotels are located. It was easy to find, but harder to get in if you're coming with a large group as this place gets busy. Fortunately, I was able to get in, if I sat outside, which I didn't mind. I was able to have a view of the city and it was a sunny day. But many people wanted to sit inside, which was completely packed. People kept asking to be seated and the hostess would always ask if they had made a reservation. So, word to the wise is make a reservation here. Oh! And they allow dogs inside here. (Get a clue, America!!!) I wanted to try a traditional Norwegian dish, so the hostess recommended the fish soup, which is a very common, traditional dish. I ordered that with the salmon tartare. My meal also came with complimentary bread, which was delicious with the fish soup. The fish soup is lighter than chowder as it's not as creamy since it's made with a fish stock. Delicious! I highly recommend trying fish soup at least once when in Norway. It not only came with cod, but clams and salmon, too. Speaking of salmon - I loved the salmon tartare! The raw salmon was so fresh and loved the salmon eggs with it! It had a nice spicy sauce on it with some crispy flakes for that crunch. I liked it more than the soup. But both won't do you wrong. Visit Fiskeriet if you love seafood!

Considering I am American this place was a bit expensive, but so fresh and good! Fish and chips live up to the hype but I was craving a warm soup. My oyster was so fresh and yummy! We sat outside and it was nice to people watch. Inside has the market and some seating too. Everyone there was super nice and accommodating.

Took my husband to Norway for the second time to visit my family, and he really really wanted to try Norwegian fresh fish! So my childhood friend recommended this place. It's very small and inconspicuous but when you walk in you can see why this establishment has been around for decades! The have fresh (literally freshly caught) fish and seafood as you walk in and to the right. And right in the front you see small glass aquariums filled with living lobster. Then as you walk slightly to your left you see the restaurant portion. We tried doing a walk-in (highly recommend reservations here!) and luckily got the last spot for two. But believe me when I say this space is SMALL, so I wouldn't walk in with lots of bags or accessories. And it's definitely tough for large groups. They've definitely tried to maximize seating so you're literally back to back to people. But it's a cozy space and I love the wall decor and photos from decades past (I'm talking almost 100 years of history of this place!). They also played relaxing music that wasn't super loud but gave the place a soothing ambiance. Now for the food: we ordered the cod croquettes, the fish and chips, and the fish gratin (fiskegrateng) all to share between the two of us. In one word: YUM!! Each dish came in hot from the oven/stove and oh so delicious! The croquettes were crispy and soft and came with a delicious sauce on top. Perfect for an appetizer. The fish and chips came with two large pieces of cod and were super crispy. In fact, it was a fairly large portion! We did have to ask for extra tarter sauce since we only got one (and they charged 25 kr for it). But overall, I can confidently say that this was the best fish and chips both my husband and I have ever had! Lastly, the fish gratin took about 20 min to come out (they mention it on the menu and the server also told us), and it was piping hot from the oven! It was very tasty but also very filling. Definitely recommend as well. We also had two drinks - a glass of house white wine each, which paired nicely with the cod dishes. It was more pricey than we had expected for two people (about $114 USD), but the food and experience was well worth it. LOVE and will return :)

Found this place on yelp... well reviewed spot close to our hotel. We enjoyed our meal here. I ordered the seafood casserole, based on the positive feedback. It was on the pricey side, but there was a generous amount of seafood. I have to say that the flavor was fine but not fantastic, but its still a solid option due to the amount of seafood. I also tried some of the fish soup, which I actually preferred. The broth was fairly tangy and complimented the fish well. Also it included a generous amount of fish. I didn't personally try the fish and chips, but that dish looked good too.

The crispiest most delicious fish and chips I ever did have! I wish we didn't have fancy dinner plans a few hours after dining here or I would have ordered the whole menu. Can't wait to come back to eat more. The place is a bit cozy (crowded) but it's worth it to dine in. Service was warm and friendly!

As Norway is known for fish, this is the local comfort spot to get some amazing oysters to get your meal started off right. Although you can't go wrong with any of their dishes, I would say that they are most known for their fish n' chips. They did not disappoint! The meal hit the spot and with this restaurant situated in a little square in the city, I got to do some people watching as well. Lastly, the desert was a nice finish to the dining experience. I got the chocolate cherry dessert that added the perfect end to the meal, and good enough for any chocolate lovers out there needing their fix A friendly and welcoming staff, I recommend this place for a nice lunch or early dinner.

Oh my goodness! This tiny fish market place is oh so very good. My travel mate ordered the Fish soup & the fish and chips and it was all so very good. I ordered the fish and chips as well....wow, I ate all of my plate (left a few chips). The pickles and red onions such a nice touch and the fresh homemade tartar sauce was the bomb. Loved the service, our wait person was new and very sweet and if she didn't know the answer to our question, she found out very quickly. Several wait staff spoke perfect English. We ordered a bottle of wine to share and enjoyed the ambiance, which is very small space for dining in. Reservations are a MUST, if you are prone to claustrophobic tendencies this place may not be for you, just saying. During the day, the fish market is open for a couple of to-go items. If I lived in Oslo, I would live off the tartar sauce. It was that good.

MAKE A RESERVATION online. We waited for over an hour without a reservation. Decided it was too cold and we had to leave. We later learned you can make reservations online for the next day and there is always some availability. We ordered the Fish & Shellfish Casserole, the Fish & Chip, and the Fish Soup. The casserole blew me away. It came with mussels, prawns, fish, and snow crab legs. Absolutely delicious! The fish and chip was crispy and very fresh. But I am used to a little bit more seasoning. It came with this creamy green dip, which worked well to bring more flavor. The fish soup was delicious but compared to the one I had at Seaport Restaurant, it failed to amaze me. It did had a lot more variety of seafood and was good in its own way. Highly recommend this place! Quick busy and packed!

Took a little bit to get a table but it was all very good! Ceviche was very nice and fresh and the croquettes were very flavorful too. Tried a bit of the fish and chips and the fish was nice and thick and the fry was very crispy and airy!

Part Fish market and part Restaurant, Fiskeriet Youngstorget is one of many similar concepts found throughout Oslo, the fact that nearly everything served is caught locally that day assuring quality one might expect in a city surrounded by water. Offering a wide selection of fresh Fish and Shellfish by weight, plus a menu that changes with frequency, guests are invited to sit at high tables to slurp Oysters and sip Champagne or to enjoy a Beer with cheesy Fish Casserole or Gratin. Spanning the globe in terms of influence, Ceviche leaning into Peru complete with Sweet Potatoes and Corn, better choices include Bacalao Arancini served with Peppers or faultless Fish n' Chips served piping hot with Remoulade or Malt Vinegar to suit one's preference.

It was our first time at Oslo, Norway and while venturing out into town, we walked through Oslo Street Foods and while that was temping, my wife said, hey let's try this Fiskeriet place as it has a lot of patrons. While we didn't have any reservation, we were seated outdoor within minutes. My wife ordered the salmon tataki for appetizer and wow, the freshness of the salmon along with the punch of the ponzu sauce really made that dish very light and refreshing. For main, she ordered the fresh prawns and again, the shrimps were extremely fresh, chilled and assortment in size. Good because we were afraid all the pieces would be tiny. My son got the fish and chips and he really enjoyed it. There wasn't a ton of batter on the fish and the piece of fish itself was large which was good as you didn't feel like you were eating thinly scraps. He also enjoyed the fries that accompanied it. I had the creamy fish soup and I was initially apprehensive at first as it was about 60 degrees Fahrenheit and the soup would be immediately cold when served. But glad to say, it was piping hot and you can taste the freshness of the salmon, mussels, potatoes, etc. Overall, food was exceptional and service outstanding.

Great food. High quality seafood. Excellent staff. Easy to get table. Highly recommended

I highly recommend getting the langoustine especially if you see them swimming in the tank! You pick your own seat and the menu is in Norwegian but you can walk up to the counter and the chalkboard has the menu in English. You have to walk up to the register to order and let them know which table you are sitting at. We got the caviar symphony which includes 4 different types of caviar, Norwegian flatbread (very thin chips) and a lemon wedge. I enjoyed the this. The fish soup was decent but I neglected it cuz I was too excited about the shellfish platter! We got the large shellfish platter which costed about 755 kr (~100 USD). The platter had a good amount of shellfish that I felt full sharing it with my husband. There were 1 langoustine (steamed), two live shrimps (steamed), a large king crab body and 4 legs (?baked since it was more dry), 2 snow crab legs, and two large scallops! All super fresh! Don't hesitate to get some seafood here if you are near by!
