Food was very flavorful although the menu selection is quite small and there was one server working. Tough to find brunch in Norway although this spot wasn't bad!

Brussels sprouts, I had eaten about half of it before I realized I had to take a photo to remember this beautiful dish by.

Delicious food, lots of bang for your buck. The Brussels sprouts is a must: a heaping amount of perfectly crisp, well balanced flavors that surprise and satisfy with each bite. They don't do takeaway. Can be spotted on the street by its neon G sign and purple glow. My photos don't do the food justice, but please eat here and definitely get the Brussels sprouts.

I really liked their take on avocado toast, especially the addition of pomegranates.

Elias Mat & Sant is located in the sentrum, Oslo's city center, so is walking distance to many sites and attractions. I visited here after walking from the palace along Karl Johans Gate as the restaurant is located off this main drag. Make reservations here for the restaurant is small and intimate. It was time to try reindeer while in the Nordic region of the world, so here I did. I ordered the reindeer stew, which was delicious. The reindeer stew was similar to a beef stew, but the reindeer is leaner, so didn't taste as heavy, which is a good thing. Over some mashed potatoes with a gravy and herbs and a side of lingonberry, it completed the meal. It also came with a side of complimentary bread, which is not always the case at other restaurants. That was a nice bonus though because the bread helped soaked up the stew. Perfection!

They added a nice layer of sweet and tart. The places looks brand new, limited cocktails and only four craft beers on tap. Service was excellent, thanks to our server we knew to mix the berries. Most of the time when you're in a city or a country that's much different than your own, you want to experience their food, but I was so intrigued but this concept that I had to check it out for myself. Sure enough, when I walked in I felt like I ended '50s America. This was a legit old-school diner, but with more wooden fixtures than the checkered patterns and plastic type seating that you may be thinking of. It still had the look and feel of a diner, but with a slightly more polished looked. The wait brought over the menu and a small glass of water. If nothing else, come here just to read the menu. It's hysterical. Small jokes within each menu item. I decided to get breakfast here so I got eggs, bacon, toast and French fries because the waiter didn't understand that I wanted home fries, but whatever. It's a potato so I ate it. The eggs were cooked exactly how I asked for them and the bacon was nice and crispy. Looking around, the milkshakes were passing me by constantly and these huge sandwiches. It really made me see how much we, as Americans consume. Their portions were out of this world big if you got a sandwich or something like that. My meal was just the right size, but as most things in Norway, it was expensive so I passed on the milkshake because I'm sure it was out of my budget. A fun experience none the less. I would take friends here the next time Im in town and if I was a local I'd probably be a regular here if I lived nearby.

I went because I wanted to see Norway's interpretation of a real American diner. It really wasn't bad, but I had to do a triple take when I got the bill. That said, the fries were hot and crispy, the Mac and cheese was delightfully creamy, and the burger was okay. I'd want to try their great-looking breakfast menu, but don't want to go broke for American food on my vacation.
