This review is based off just the beer- but it is fantastic! It's a local brewery that knows how to brew beer. They have many types to choose from, as well as mainstream beers. We loved this restaurant!! We saw this place walking by and made reservation for our Friday night dinner. They seated us at the window, which allowed us to witness the evening commute m. Husband and I ordered the seafood chowder and they were beautifully presented. The cauliflower provided a nice balance to the seafood flavors and the creamy broth had excellent taste. I had a glass of Chardonnay and hubby got dark beer recommended by the waiter. We shared one scoop of chocolate ice cream for dessert, which was beautifully presented and quite lovely. Maybe this is me coming from the states but the fish n chips in Oslo from this place was an intimate experience. When you can taste the seasonings on both the batter and the fish itself, you know you have found something special. Each bite of the fish was immaculate, the breading wasn't soggy or heavy, you could see the flaky salt on top, and there was some ingredient in the batter that I could not place (but the states would never think to use). The fish itself was cooked to perfection and was peppery, each standalone bite took me on a journey. The fish was so good that I could not fathom dipping it in the tartar sauce because standalone, it worked. Dare I say the best fish n chips I've had. The other food I got to try was also pretty good. The grilled halibut tasted great, especially with the pomme purre. The asparagus was a bit underwhelming, as it could have used a bit more salt but the polenta and egg really improved the dish and made the presentation all the better. My one issue with the place was the outdoor seating area and service itself. While the service was great, it was a bit slow (it took an hour to receive our first appetizer). We were seated outside under the tents, however, when it started raining, the rain seaped through the tents and onto the table. Even moving tables outdoors, I was getting rained on and our table, by the end of the rain, was completely drenched and wet. As an American traveler, I would suggest behaving well to represent others as there were a few female patrons that shouted "typical Americans" but the staff and others didn't do anything but ignore ignorance. What a wonderful pub and restaurant! We came here for dinner on a Sunday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the very fresh squash (zucchini) salad and the daily special: a roasted pork shoulder salad. This brewery/sports bar has my favorite Norwegian Beer-Nøgne Ø #100. Great stuff. A great neighborhood bar which is very open and spacious. They have a huge selection of quality beers. I read the reviews before going and we did get there at 8:30and were told the kitchen closes in 20 I don't think the first waiter wanted us to order food but we said we knew what we wanted. Our second waiter was friendly and checked on us. We had excellent fish and chips and mussels. The sauce for the mussels was just out of this world with bacon cream and I think chilis. Beer menu was extensive and reflected Belgium and Norway well. There was not much to choose for their own beers. For a late night dinner we ended up here, definitely a lively place! If you want to eat, pick a place in the front area, the back is for drinking from the bar. I decided to try the Norge beer, interestjng color kind of yellow and glowy definitely sftong. I opted for the chiliburger, based on prior review and it did not disappoint. It's KEY to find the spice in Nordic countries. I loved the burger with chips or fries and try the Stokes bloody mary ketchup, so good! I will have to look for this sauce. The.burger was a big bite too, good after a long travel day. My mom had the cheddar french onion soup, seasoned with pale ale. It was so homey and warm and delivious! Love this place. The food is unexciting but we'll prepared and presented. Home made bangers with excellent mash and gravy is a firm favourite of mine. Along with the burgers and the fish and chips. They have an excellent micro brewery attached and produce a truly excellent IPA. One of the most accessible brew bars and bistros in an otherwise pretty bland option of places. Prices are ok for Oslo and the service seems to be all Swedish so the service is quite good. Enjoy it often and be brave with the beer choices. You'll discover some real gems here. read more

Oh and a weird slightly spicy, oddly textered homemade ketchup that tastes like spice and old books, in a good way. read more

Incredible range of great beers. Friendly and inviting. Their own beers are well made and the variety of guest beers comes from everywhere you can think of. Quite a decent food selection also. I would always put this on my "must" list in Oslo. Just be aware that you will pay more for your beer than in most countries. Terrible. Worst service we've ever had. Our server forgot we existed, after half an hour someone else came to take our order and then after we received our entrees no-one checked on us after that. This place does not look like a craft beer pub, but underneath the outer lining of the more traditional pub/restaurant style there is a hidden under current of craft beer specialism. They have tonnes of beers to choose from with page after page of options on their menu. We had not planned to come here but after a long walk down the harbour side we decided to give it a try. I really did not like the decor very much and did not plan to stay long, but then we saw the beer list and settled in for a few pints. The staff were friendly and chatted away to us about Oslo. We ended up ordering some chips to and they were really tasty French fry style chips that disappeared in a matter of minutes. On the hunt for a bite to eat, a beer, a craft beer or just a decent (but quiet) pub. You won't go wrong by dropping in here. read more

I came to this place twice during my visit in Oslo. I think it's a wonderful spot for a group and/or a great date spot if you're going out with someone who likes beer. The atmosphere is lively, the staff is friendly and inviting and the food is better than your typical pub fare. For my first visit, I logged a couple hours at the bar trying different Nogne brews and chatting with a bartender. I sampled some of their house offerings and while "fresh" tasting, were not to my liking. I thought there bottle list was fun and extensive. My second trip was for dinner and a pint or two. I went with the bangers and mash and I thought the dish was very well prepared. I paired it with a hefeweizen and I think it was a very enjoyable meal. Our server was snappy, knowledgeable and very accommodating to our dietary restrictions. This is a spot that I would spend some time at if I was a local. read more

An excellent selection of beers, good food and a knowledgable staff all set in a relaxed atmosphere right in the middle of town. I can recommend Amundsen's own Pale Ale. It is slightly bitter, but a great aftertaste. Ambiance is more classy and nice for sure. There's outside and inside seating, and service actually somewhat exists. The menu definitely has a lot of drinks, and it has a decent but leaning towards small selection of food. I ended up getting the Mac and Cheese, which came with duck, mushrooms, and a small salad on the side. I'm glad the salad was with it, because the Mac and Cheese was very heavy, though quite good. The cheese on the top had a nice crisp brown look and taste, although I would have greatly preferred more duck and mushrooms in it. The duck was well-flavored, the mushroom pieces were small. Our food also took a long time to come out, Expensive meal for what it is, although I guess that's just how it is in Norway. My meal was 179 NOK. My friend really enjoyed his meal though, as he had a beer, bangers and mash, and the beermisu. For a non-alcohol drinker and a not-too-big-a-fan of American food, this place was just meh. Amundsen is quite the cozy microbrewery. Beers are a bit higher than other bars in the area, but they are MUCH tastier. I also had a chance to sample one of the aquavits created there as well, and it was surprisingly good. Amundsen is a great place to talk and hang with close friends, or to enjoy the good beers Oslo has to offer. I was glad I could spend my last night in town there! read more

As a self professed hop head, I wanted to find a good place to grab some good Norwegian craft beer. Fortunately, Amundsen was quite near our hotel. We had some good food, good service and really good beer. While the craft beer menu is impressive, to strike gold, you need to know where to look...or ask. On a second attempt to find liquid gold, I asked a Manager who rummaged around and found me a Nøgne Ø 500. Rare to say the least, delicious to understate it. Overall, a great place with some serious nightlife on the weekends and tasty beer anytime! read more

Great house-brewed brews! My porter was smokey, rich, and had a nice body. My husband had the house pale ale and then a Flåm- brewed IPA. The house pale ale is a west coast (read: hoppy) ale that he loved. We had the fish and chips and like others, we were stoked. I took one bite of that salty sea swimmer and was like, "dang!"! It was a bit greasy - even for fried - but it seems food here tends to be a bit heavy on oil anyway. Note for travelers: we had to ask to have our beer refilled and for our check to come out. We were chatting a lot with the super friendly bartenders, we thought this was helpful to know. We just kept asking each other if we should ask for more beer (we didn't want to be rude!). Great little spot in central Oslo for a pint and some tasty food! Went here for lunch on Monday very excited by their wide list of tap and bottled beers. Was so so so disappointed that both of the beers we ordered were sold out!!! It was nearly disaster until they extremely friendly bartender recommended two other great beers to try instead. ( I wish I had caught his name so I could have thanked him in the review personally, here's hoping this gets back to him anyways!) He also told me a little about the craft beer scene in Norway which was one of the highlights of my trip to Norway. The food was good, the falafel was exceptional. 10/10 Best thing I ate in Norway, which given that Norway is not a culinary hotspot is not as large as a claim as it would be elsewhere. I ate a fish soup here and I couldn't really eat it. Very low quality food. It was all just milk or cream and the fish had a very strange strong smokey taste. It felt like I ordered smoked fish. Usually the liquid of a fish soup has also gotten the taste of the fish. Not the case. I am usually not very demanding with my food but this didn't really make the cut to even bad food. I really couldn't eat it. I give 2 stars just because the service wasn't bad and I know that as a beer place it's ok. read more
