Crowbar, the beer hub creating an everlasting agony of that delicious beer you once had...but never saw again. Every so often they change up their craft beers, but always keep a certain "trend". You'll find different variations of your classics, and there will always be a cider/soury beer available. Everytime I've been here, it has been delicious. Even my beerloving boyfriend preferred my pick. The place is often crowded, but in the summer you can enjoy the outdoor seating. People watching, trash talking and beer drinking..can it get any better? Service is lovely, you always get to try your beers before deciding, and the bartenders are more than willing to give you your time and even explain (also when it's busy!). I've never experienced poor treatment here, but then again, I avoid the busiest nights. Prices are a little stiff, with 0.5litre at about 90 NOK. PS! Upstairs they also serve food, there's an infamous kebab...I've never been, but I'm eager to try! read more

First time in Oslo, but this Brewery is reminiscent of American (Portland or Seattle) micro-brews in style with full bodied stouts and creative craft beer. Love this place! They have about 10 of their own beers on draft, another 10 guest beers and a huge bottle bottle list. The bartenders are very helpful with deciding what to order based on your likes. I loved their sour beer selection, especially the guava sour! Super unique and extra sour! They have a few wrap options for food...falafel and pork and a few side options. This is a huge craft beer bar. I mean huge in space/size, but it also does have a good amount of beers on tap. From memory I reckon about 20 or so. We went a couple of times when in Oslo and I have to say in someways it seems more like a trendy night spot than a normal craft beer bar. Still they did good beer and we always managed to find a seat so we were happy enough. Well apart from paying 9 quid a pint but....... It's Oslo! The other big plus point of this place is on the second floor at the back they also serve kebabs. They seem quite Greek in style with the meat wrapped in flat breads and served with some sauce and salads. It really is a great accompaniment to the beer and goes down well if you have had a few pints. Why, as someone who has a passion for not liking beer, would I give this place 5 stars? I am not sure why to be honest. I am just basing it on the feeling I got when I walked in here. It literally takes me no more than a minut to walk here from my apartment and I had never heard of the place until I saw it mentioned on Yelp. I walked past a lot when this place was called Robins and it was a sad, confused little bar/restaurant that no one seemed to ever give a chance (not even I). I figured when Robins closed and a new place opened, it would be just as sad given the fact that this was also the case with the place that was there before Robins. Therefor, I paid no mind as to what was going in here. As I walked in, it was like I was teleported far far away from the "kebab row" that is Torgata. Even though the place was quite full on a Thursday, we were greated by a cute little Turkish man that showed us around and gave us a little overview of all the beers and which ones they brewed. I am not sure if he is the owner or what his roll is there, but he showed a passion for his job that is hard to find. It made me excited to be there, albeit a little intimidated because at first glance, it looks like the only alcohol they have here is beer. They do have some liquor and wine, which is hidden behind the large chalkboard beer menu. Both my friends that I was with got a "6 pack". Basically, you choose 6 beers you would like to taste and they give them to you in what looked like decent sized glass. If I remember correctly, they cost kr 250, which sounded cheap to me. Granted, most of my alcohol consumption comes from vodka, and trust me, you arent going to get 6 shots for kr 250 anywhere in Norway. I got a glass of red wine. It was decent, but at kr 75 I would expect it to be. We didn't make it upstairs, and I didn't quite pick up what the Turkish man was saying about the upstairs, but I know it is open and about the same size as downstairs. Whether there is a bar up there is something I will have to find out next time. And I can't wait for next time to come. I plan on becoming a regular here and as I walk in they will say "here comes the girl who only drinks wine at a micro brewery" that or "here comes Kristin!" I am hoping for the latter. read more

My friend who is an Oslo local told me that this would be an answer to Copenhagen's Mikeller in Oslo. Plenty of crafted beer, hip place (with a pingpong table that reminds me of a bar I knew in Berln) and a nice vibe to it. So it only made sense that we came here after having a hearty Vietnamese noodle soup for dinner at Dalat which is only a stone's throw away from this bar. Crowbar (I see what you did there!) is for young people - at least for people who feel that they're young. The nearby Cafe Sara is probably more of the classic pub feel but not this place. I ordered number 16 from their many beer list - a real proper stout - and I called my friend a wuss for ordering a weissbier (yes, I'm evil that way) and it was such a lovely beer. The only painful experience at Crowbar was when I had to pay for beer that costs 92 kr a glass. OUCH! I guess Mikeller beer is fancy too in Copenhagen but never have we dreamed to charge customers for over 90 kr a glass and I'm pretty thankful for that. This is one of the reason I am not moving to Oslo. Outrageous alcohol price ;) The place has pretty ok (not too loud) music but there's a room on the back (up the stairs) if you want to be able to converse quetly. read more

This place is very popular in the weekends. You might be in a situation to be left out with no seating, but that's ok. You can just find a spot somewhere. What I love about this place is that upstairs it has a little kebab shop. You can go to the end of the upper floor and but food. So: Beer and kebab in one bar. Yes please! I also like the fact there are lots of tap beers to choose from. I am a tap beer fan and if you ask nicely you get to taste it before you order it. A good atmosphere here, no load music. Good for conversations but not good for dancing. The music is in the background. Awesome place to start your night from, especially in winter time. Crowbar have quickly become one of the hottest places in Oslo. Most weekends the place is filled with people. And when I say people, I for the most part refer to hipsters that are too cool for this world. Apparently I am not cool enough, because I only gave Crowbar 3stars. On every occasion I have been to crowbar the place has been packet. The music is loud and the people are even louder. Most tables are taken but people are friendly enough to share if you just ask, but they will most likely not talk to you through the night. It is still hard to carry a conversation over all the noise, so I mainly concentrate on trying out their beer selection when I am here. I am however impressed by Crowbars selection of microbrewed beer. However drinking microbrew gets quite expensive through the night. Their bartenders are for the most part knowledgeable, although they have misled me on occasion. The bar gets very busy so sometimes the bartenders can get a little short and unpleasant. I really wish I would like this place more than I do because all my friends love it, however I just can't. I don't know if it is because I have't tried the pork-kebab yet or what, but I never have a good time when I go. Personally I think it might be a mix between the crowd and the service. I always walk in with a smile and after 45minutes I have reached my limit and end up going home! Still I do come back, giving this place a chance. At least I am working my way through their beers. We really like beer and seek it out whenever we go anywhere on vacation. We were in Norway for OIso Beer Week and some locals told us this was the place to hit up to try the widest variety of local beers. We did make it here a few times and found that indeed they did have a very good selection of beer. The prices were comparable to most other places we went, but the selection was a bit larger. We enjoyed the people watching while sitting outside, but the inside is nice too. Its definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. I really like the symbol on the glasses. read more

Crowbar is so so so cool. The beer and the atmosphere are just awesome. My only complaint is the high prices...94 kroner for a beer you could get across town for 75, the exact same beer. But prices aside I would say, check this place out. Can't wait to go back and try the food! read more

Yep yep and yep! Crowbar rocks! My husband wasn't as big of a fan as I was, he said their beer was just ok, but you have to break it down to see it shine. They have a bunch of taps, so some of their own beer which is ok, and then several guest taps. Many of the guest taps were from the states, they even had Seattle Cider on tap, Seattle is where we are from so that was fun to see. The inside of this place is amazing. It's two floors of comfy seating inside an old brick building. If anyone comes to visit us from the states this is definitely a spot we will add to the list of places to bring them. I must mention if you are hungry, upstairs on the second floor is a spot you can get pork or falafel wraps and they are cheap! I think it was 79kr, and it was HUGE! I can't wait to talk the husband into coming back, I will make him love it like I do! read more

Came here with different 2 different groups of friends a couple times, one time in the summer and we got to sit outside and the other time on a snowy winter day and we just tugged ourselves inside. I'm not a huge beer person myself, but my friend who is wasn't really impressed with her beer flight. We did all love my cider though. And they do have a small selection of snacks upstairs if you need something to eat. Overall though the place gives you pretty good vibes and I would still definitely be back. read more

After having been here countless times I'm finally going to put down some words on why this is probably the best place to drink beer in Oslo: Location near perfect now Torgt is pedestrianised the pavement seating is part of a thriving evening vibe that now stretches the whole length of the street. Snacks are a vital accompaniment to beer in large quantities and they make the tastiest bar snacks I've ever had. Spit roast pork, crispy pitta things . Yum yum Beer. They make it themselves and it actually tastes like beer, not some beer version of a fizzy drink that comes out of most taps these days. Try them all. In one sitting. It's a blast. read more

After a long journey from LA - Toronto - Copenhagen - Oslo, I was finally glad to be at my destination. And while it's tempting to just be content with my not-so-hungry stomach, truth be told is that I would eventually get hungry and be too tired to find something. Luckily, a local friend had taken me here to grab a bite to eat and a beer upon arrival. Crowbar is quite spacious, occupying two floors: the first serving primarily your brews and the second some solids also known as food (in addition to beers). On some days, I was told that there is a whole suckling pig roasting away. We had some tasty kebabs and beers in the cozy upstairs area and left happy campers. Good for groups, especially during the weekdays when it's not crowded, in a kicking microbrewery atmosphere! read more

As Americans on a visit, we had a number of people (including those in the restaurant service business) recommend a trip to Crowbar. We ended up spending about 5 hours there, playing ping pong, and meeting some lovely locals. Next time, I want to spend more time upstairs and try out the food. It looked great. I have now been here three times. First time was with some yelpers and was a blast, second time it was so packed we couldn't find seats so we left and third time was in the middle of the week, which worked out great! So many beers to choose from and if you are completely clueless about beer ask the people who work there :) The wonderful thing about going here in the summer is that they open the large windows so it feels like you are on the street, great for people watching! I love the second floor though so we headed up there. There is exposed brick everywhere and the entire place as such a hip feel to it. They have food upstairs and I would love to try the cheese platter, but this time round we went for the homemade potato chips which were a great addition to our beers :) The place is packed on weekends so if you want a chill vibe head on over during the week.
