Just like most of Oslo, this place (even the front area) was undergoing some kind of construction so it could be easily missed...our airbnb host recommended this place as A good local spot near the apartment serving Norwegian food and not too expensive.
We arrived and the outdoor sitting area was sooo cute like a beergarden with most people drinking (not eating). We went inside and the bartender first didn't seem to care but a waitress greeted us and told us to just find a seat and she would bring us the menu. She was very kind, she also explained how things work..you order by the bar inside, they give you a pager to pick up your food.
Hubby ordered the Norwegian meatloaf (meatballs!) With gravy and I opted for a pork dish. The food on the menu was not cheap! Average around 179 kr! We also ordered 1 Pepsi and 1 glass of beer. Total for our meal was 528 kr = 65 usd!
The food came within 15 minutes. Portion was ok. Not American size but not small, enough. They were a bit on the salty side, especially the meatballs. The berry preserves that came with it helped to tone down the saltiness a bit. Loved the mashed peas that came with the meatballs though.
My pork dish was ok, the meat had little amount of fat so some parts was a bit dry. I didn't care for the wine sauce that they drenched all over the meat and palenta. I prefer the parents with no juice from the pork stew. The beets were good. Also on the salty side but not as salty as the meatballs.
The beer was good and refreshing but again not cheap at 68 kr (smallest glass).
The place seemed very happening and we'll known by local and tourists (probably bc yelp and trip advisor gave it 4 stars)...imo, 3 stars seem more fair. read more
