We are staying at The Opera Hotel near the train station. Jet lagged, trying to get a bite to eat.
The food is good, the service .... completely a different story.
I ordered a simple Arugula salad with Parmesan as my entree, and my husband ordered the sirloin with French fries and salad. The male waiter took the order. I asked him how big the salad was. He described it and I decided that it was exactly what I wanted.
My salad came out first. I didn't touch it because I was waiting for my husband's dinner to come out.
A waitress came out, and asked me if there was a problem with my salad. I explained to her that I was waiting for my Husband's dinner. She looked very confused.
The waiter came out and started to question my dinner choice, that I had ordered two salads.
I said I had not.
My husband gave him an out by saying it was a misunderstanding. Instead of apologizing for the confusion in the order, he proceeded to insult me by saying," I guess the customer is always right., as he walked off.
Our water was never refilled.
My husband went up to the bar area where the water pitchers were, and poured his own water in glasses, as the waiter just looked at him.... with a smirk on his face.
Nice decor, not too loud, but definitely not friendly.
Later on, on the same day, we went with some friends to have drinks outside. A waitress showed up and rudely pointed to a sign on the table that all purchases needed to be completed at the bar inside.
My friend and I went inside. After paying we had 6 items and only 4 hands we had to make two trips outside with all our beverages.
The waitress never offered a tray for us to use...
And the look she gave us..... unbelievable.
Management at the front desk was cold and unsympathetic. When I asked for a manager, she became very defensive and said she was in charge, and "What happened?" Asked for room number, and that was the end of it.
