Oh man, it's been almost a month now, since I visited Detroit. I can still taste the corned beef and pastrami sandwich. That Combo Delight! We just came into town and saw this was one of top rated restaurants, well then, let's give em a try! Everyone got breakfast, but no, I wanted something different. So I got the Combo Delight, I never had pastrami and corned beef like this. For corned beef I imagine, it in a can and with potatoes. Then for pastrami, I think it's cold or for charcuterie board. Once I got that sucker, tried it, booooy. I wanted to Berserker Barrage (Video Game reference) someone. Damn that was the most tender and juicy sandwich. For the general a diner, this is pretty standard. There was bar and booth seating. It is a little more run down than an average diner, but the selection was classic and there were a lot of options. It had a full menu of handhelds and breakfast. There were the typical choices or omelettes, eggs and pancakes/waffles. Service was slow but fast? After spending some time driving around Detroit, looking for a good breakfast spot, we popped into Louise on our way home. What a great idea! We sat at the bar, and though we ordered simple food items (they actually killed it with the poach eggs A+++), what most impressed me was the efficiency of the staff, and the cleanliness of the place. When you sit at the bar, you can look into the kitchen and the back serving station. Everything is clean and I think Restaurant managers should come and take note. There is no need to have a dirty restaurant! We'll definitely be coming back again, and again! Yesterday my daughter celebrated her 9 year anniversary of having her successful kidney transplant. After visiting her Drs she wanted to dine in here. We ordered our food which looked delicious, my daughter asked for plastic wear to eat with due to her compromised immune system due to her transplant and was denied. They were pleasant and professional. Good to see a restaurant full and a little positive craziness going on. Sandwiches didn't take long. Maybe 12-15 min? We ordered the corned beef and the pastrami sandwiches. The pastrami really impressed me with the delicious beef. I was told it is prepard next door at Wrigley's? It was really good and I probably could have eaten the entire sandwich, but I checked myself to allow for leftovers. The corned beef sandwich was also very good. I love all things corned beef so I had to stop in and have breakfast before hitting the road. This place was great. Fast, friendly service, parking was plentiful and the good was delicious. They have a drive through which was a pleasant surprise. I was happy to see plexiglass dividers between the booths for a more comfortable dining experience during covid. It was a rocky start because no one knew which wait staff was supposed to handle the table. One waitress decided that she would do it while everyone was arguing about it. Thank goodness! This place is just a short drive from the DMC. There is parking (free) and even a drive through. When you walk in it is open and clean with hostess's to greet you at the entrance. I went with friends from work and we were starving. Everything looked good so I opted for the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. Corned beef with split pea and ham. Soup came first, then the sandwich. Both sandwiches came out quickly- more so than a grilled wrap that someone at our table ordered- probably because hey grill the chicken as ordered. Portions are huge! They have 4 egg omelettes and they are too die for. They have a great variety of them too. Broccoli and cheese used fresh broccoli. Try the irish omelette that has corned beef inside. yum. Sandwiches are great, and soups are amazing. Homemade stuff. Problem is every single time i go back, they have raised the prices. This is the only place where they charge over $3 dollars to make a sandwich into a combo. I know you use good stuff and so prices "reflect that" but ive seen a sandwich go from 6 dollars to 10 dollars over my years coming here. but ill continue to come here because the food is that good. This is a local chain. I think it is all one family but each owned by a different member. Anyway, this is the nicest restaurant in the chain, inside and out. We came in for breakfast, corned beef hash with eggs sunny side up. I added sausage grave (everything's better with gravy). So to call the gravy bland would be a compliment. My Uncle had his hash without gravy and thought it had an unusual flavor. Keep in mind, we are Irish Boys and like to think we corned beef experts. I will return for lunch to see if it was a breakfast thing. The location by my house is a regular stop so I'm sure lunch will be better than breakfast at that location. This restaurant will always have a special place in my heart. Years ago, I met my dad here once a week and we would sit and talk. Together, we tried every sandwich on the menu. I'll tell you now, there's not one bad sammy on the list. My favorite is still the Turkey Club, or the Reuben. The Turkey Club is not only filling, but it's stacked perfectly to the point where you can't even fit it in with one bite. The Reuben is such a hearty meal. Make sure you have some time to nap after this one ;) You'll find yourself in good company, as the staff are extremely polite and professional.
