I've been to Lou Roc's many times on the weekend and everything has been absolutely delicious. I love their homemade hash. But I went with my bf Monday mid-morning and they must have a completely different chef. I wasn't really in the mood for breakfast so I got a Reuben which I loved with broccoli and cheddar home fries. So the stars stop here - my food was very good and the waitress was super nice. Shout out to her for listening to my bf and being attentive and helpful. Didn't catch her name. My poor bf got a huge breakfast with toast, eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon and pancakes. The home fries were literally gray and looked like essentially boiled potatoes with no cook on them, mush and absolutely not one grain of seasoning. They took up 3/4 of the plate - just no need for LITERALLY a full pound or more of home fries. They were mushy and wet and all the potato water then ran into the eggs and toast making it all soppy, weird-flavored and inedible. Sausage was ok. The bacon was forgotten and then when it was brought out - it was literally black and looked like it was leftovers from someone's old bacon that they threw back on the griddle. Pancakes were good! They took his breakfast off our bill which was nice of them. I think it was just an off day or a very bad chef. I don't think my meal was made by the same person. My home fries were perfectly cooked so idk what was going on here. Someone just has to be doing quality control. I'm surprised the waitress even dropped the bacon at our table, it was very clearly not cooked properly and should've been trashed. We will be back, likely on a weekend with their regular weekend crew. This place is normally 4/5 stars all day long, which made this breakfast particularly disappointing. read more

I just don't see what the fuss is all about. Went here on a weekday morning and I was meeting a friend so I was waiting. Several times while I stood there someone would come along and tell me I couldn't be seated until my friend arrived-- I totally understood this each and every time since English is my mother tongue. I'm not sure if I looked like I was complaining but that was sure they way they reacted. My friend exists in Kenyan time so he's always late, but when he finally showed up I had to flag someone down to get us a table. The food was fine, but I don't get excited about massive portions because I don't like to roll out of a place after I'm finished. It was breakfast. The toast was dry the way I ordered it. My coffee cup ran dry several times before someone noticed and the waitress seemed interested in every other table she had. Overall, it was a mediocre experience and I don't for the life of my understand why people wait so long on Sundays to get in here when there are better choices just down the street. read more

I went here on a weekday morning, I feel like this place must always be busy! The place was packed! Thankfully we were able to grab a table to get some food right away. Although I've been in Worcester for a while this has been my first time being at Lou Roc's and I can honestly say I'm not sure why I never came sooner! The food is absolutely amazing and super cheap for a huge portion. I got the eggs benedict as it's my usual go to breakfast choice but I was amazed by the size portion, I ended up not finishing it and taking more than half of it home. I have to say the home fries were slightly disappointing though as I prefer my home fries more like french fries rather than the usual soft, grilled potato style but still 5 stars for everything being amazing! read more

Monday holiday---dropped car off for a new tire at C & R and went with Sis to lunch at Lou Roc's---her second time here, my first. We arrived shortly after the noon bell rang to find a small line of diners waiting in the entryway to be seated (first come, first serve policy). We, however, didn't need to wait at all as we snapped up the two available stools at the counter. BEWARE! Like most good diners, this place is not for the faint of appetite--you'd better strap on the feedbag because the plates of food here are HUGE! I did not see one diner finish his/her plate, but rather they left the forlorn mounds of food on their plates or whisked them away in Styrofoam to-go containers provided by the wait staff. Although it was lunchtime, we felt breakfast food was the way to go. I opted for two eggs over easy served with a gargantuan slab of beautifully-crusted homemade corned beef hash, golden (not burnt) home fries and buttered and griddled Italian bread. Sis had the Florentine Benedict (spinach and tomatoes), which came with home fries as well. She also ordered hot Italian sausage (2 large links). All was well prepared and tasty, but the real standout for me was the hash (the ravings of online reviewers were spot-on). Sis really enjoyed her selections, too, but neither of us came close to finishing our plates and we felt the need to box up our leftovers to take home to enjoy for dinner. Service was pretty good considering that the place was really hopping during the time we were there. I have been going here for years and hands down, this is my favorite spot for breakfast! And its served it all day too! The staff is friendly, the price is right, the food is good and served in huge portions! Their homefries are one of the best I've had. They do tend to get busy in the mornings, but I've rarely had to wait for seating. I usually don't eat from the lunch menu that often but I have tried the meatloaf (Tuesday special) and it was quite tasty. Overall, Lou Roc's doesn't disappoint! I'm not very good at stopping for breaks during massive 10-hour car rides, as I prefer just powering through the miserable traffic jams, but Lou Roc's was an excellent idea (not mine). Also, as a non-Massachusetts resident, I apologize for ever pronouncing Wor-chest-er instead of Rooster with a W - good thing I didn't think to ask for Worcestershire sauce. The pictures do not do the portion sizes justice. My veggie quesadilla, which came packed with green peppers, broccoli, and onions, was the length of a cat or small dog. The home fries formed a hill on the other side of the plate. Extra points for the amazing kielbasa sausage. Please do not try to be healthy here (actually, please do not try to be healthy at a diner, period). I ordered a small "tossed" salad and it came in several layers: a bed of iceberg lettuce (the weakest link of the green leafy family, way below spinach), two wedges of tomato and two slices of cucumber dangling on the edges, and some carrot shavings and hoops of red onion on top. It was a fail. I stomached only three mouthfuls of salad before diving head first into the quesadilla. I can't speak for the other non-breakfast options, but rest assured that you will spend the remainder of your car trip burping meaty fumes and regularly adjusting your seat belt to accommodate a few extra layers. read more

You won't go wrong with any dish really. The portions are large so we generally share between two of us. I live in Massachusetts and was in the West Boylston area. Looked on Yelp for a good diner and was comparing the Dream Diner and Lou Rocks. Decided on trying to the Dream Diner but for some reason they were closed on a Sunday morning. So off to Lou Rocks I went, it was a fairly small diner but most are. When I walked in there was a fairly long line of patrons waiting to be seated, so being the first time there I moved along to the front to put my name in. I was told to just get in line and the wait shouldn't be long. Actually the wait was wasn't long which was very pleasing. Once seated I received very prompt service from a smiling professional waitress which was a great start. After getting coffee served, I placed my order which was a steak and veggie omelette special. I must say when it arrived it was a very large portion. The omelette was delicious and cooked to perfection. The home fries were were tasty and well seasoned. Overall I would give the entire visit from start to finish a 10 out of 10. I am very glad the other restaurant happened to be closed and when I find myself back in the area, Lou Rocks will be the place for Me. Thank you!! read more

Solid place for breakfast if you ask me. We were heading out to Maine and wanted to stop somewhere on the way for a good hearty breakfast. Yelp help me fine this place for sure. Walking in you can tell the "locals" love this place. I was looking at the specials and they aren't your normal breakfast fare. I wanted to get the Italian breakfast but they were all out of meatballs...bumper! So I settled for their steak tips and eggs. Another dish on their menu that intrigued me was their filo fresh toast. If I am in the area again for breakfast I will order that for sure. Other dishes at the table ordered was sausage and peppers omelet, hash and eggs and and order of pancakes. Just like every other review, portions here are on the big side. I am pretty sure they make all the breads here too, the in laws really liked the cinnamon raisin bread. Honestly wasn't very impressed. There's a café down the street called Route 12 was a lot cleaner food was more presentable. I feel rushed when I eat here. When I go for breakfast I'd like to be able to sit and relax for a second maybe have a second cuppa coffee.
