I've been to this busy shop before, where I picked up a neutral colored wrap. I've worn it to pieces, unfortunately, so I stopped in to see if they still sell it. They did not have the exact one I was looking for, but I found something similar, of a heavier weight more suitable for fall, and more expensive. The best gift store in Richmond. Well at least in my opinion. They had so many items. From games, to clothes, jewelry ect. I did pick myself up the cutest reusable back. Pricing was seriously on point with so many other places selling similar products. The employees were helpful and kind. Especially when I was trying to find more bags. I purchased a pair of reading glasses. When I got home, the wrong pair was in the box (both the style and the strength). I took them back to exchange for the correct pair. I was told that this happens a lot and unfortunately they don't sell the brand anymore. I asked about a store credit and they said no because I did not have my receipt. I then offered my credit card statement and they said no. I ended up just leaving the glasses with the sales associate (who was very nice but did not offer a way for me to get in touch with customer service via telephone) because there's no way I can see out of them. read more

We went to this store on 8/15/23. It has really cute clothes and gifts. However, I was surprised by the terrible customer service. We were in the store for over 30 minutes and not one of the 3 employees said a word to us. They were too busy chatting with each other in a corner and then behind the counter. I finally had to ask for help and it was almost like they were shocked someone was there. I would go back for the clothes, but hopefully, they'll have new people working there. read more

She kept giving me suspicious looks and following me (a black woman) in the store. I got a really nice bag here and as a chain, I'm sure not all the stores are the same. I've been coming to this store for many years and have gotten many ENewton bracelets. I knew they had moved the display to the front , so i immediately went to view it. one of the girls at the register had basically dismissed me and did not allow me to view the jewelry. Very cute offerings but a little overpriced. I got a really cute pair of earrings to wear for New Years Eve. I didn't mind that they were a little pricey, however, when I went to put them in there was a problem. The earring backs were not even. One was fine and went in my ear. The other had to be sanded down so it was smooth enough to go through my ear piercing. So although I was able to sand them down and make them work, it's obvious I had to sand them & the color doesn't match. These earrings were already not worth $18 before the problems I faced just wearing them. read more

I freaking love Lou Lou. So it was quite a surprise to me when I was walking around Old Town and saw a sign for Lou Lou. I heard they were opening a few new stores but I completely forgot they opened one in Old Town just recently. So I had to stop in. I was completely blown away because the size of the store is about 4 times the size of both the Dupont Circle and the Connecticut Ave stores. You could probably fit both Dupont's store AND Connecticut Ave's store inside and still had room. This particular Lou Lou has a lot of purses which I didn't see in the other store. The jewelry is more spead out instead of all crowded on one or two tables. There was a good amount of people shopping there the day I went. I still adore this store and glad to have one closer to home read more

Not going to lie. I am a girly girl with quirky taste and a fondness for BIG-ass necklaces. This is why when I ventured into Lou Lou, my heart jumped and without knowing it my hands grabbed a basket and my monkey-mind kicked in: time to shop. There's jewelry here for just about all occasions and for all ages. It is not hard to get around either. Everything is color categorized from coral to turquoise to emerald green. This place was adorable and had some cute accessories. I ended up buying a scarf and a "mini emergency kit" which included things like band aids, barrettes, and breath freshener, and fits great in my school bag. The staff here kind of just leaves you alone while you shop but are extremely helpful when you need to check out, which I guess can be viewed as a good or bad thing, but I worked out for me so I didn't have a problem with it. read more

I kept returning to this Lou Lou because of their wide selection of really really cute, creative, arty, and one-of-a-kind accessories. They also have clip-on ear rings which are a huge plus for when I am in a pinch even though my ears are pierced. Great location. Inviting set-up and atmosphere. So i came here yesterday, after just walking along Old Town. I never really come to Old Town and now i kinda remember why. Supper crowded streets and rude sales ladies. So i've been to a lou lou before but i didn't know this one had clothes. So i just came in just to look. I noticed the MANGER .... greeting everyone who came in ( mind you these women where all white ) she ignored everyone who was black, hispanic, or anything or other race. I didn't catch on till, i realized i had been in there for a whole 30 minutes and she still hasn't said anything to me , made eye contacted with me several time ( but didn't talk to me ) So i was just looking around the store and i started noticing she was following me and watching me( i working in retail for over 7 years. She made me so uncomfortable i would pick something up to look at it at and she would say can you put it back.. I finally got feed up and left and she still didn't say anything as I left ( like " have a nice day " or anything ) but i called , and asked her what her deal: her response : "I looked Spanish and she knew i wasn't gonna but anything " I called the head manger and said something because i was so in shock at what happened. I'm writing this review based on their customer service. They always have really cute stuff and it's the perfect place to come to get the finishing touches for an outfit. I live in the area and frequent several Lou Lou locations. I ended up with a gift card because of a returned purchase. Long story short the gift card ended up not working with their system when I tried to use it. The staff at the Mosaic District location were extremely unhelpful and rude. They refused to honor the gift card. I ended up in this location and Eva (I believe was her name) was amazing! She spent a good 15 minutes calling around trying to figure out the issue. She was able to sort it out and I used the card to purchase a super cute sweater. Thank you Eva! You are so appreciated - I look forward to coming back to this location soon! read more

The worst thing about Lou Lou is deciding what to buy and not spending a fortune. This is by far one of the best places for fashion jewelry, scarves, candles. rings, purses and accessories. This is a fabulous place for presents and moderately priced. Most of the items are categorized together by similar colors. There is something for everyone any age from dainty to bold statement pieces. I recently found a brown clutch which was exactly what I was searching for, for months and couldn't find anywhere else. Located right off of King street, pick a beautiful day to stroll around and visit this very cute shop. read more

Fun to shop for affordable bags and costume jewelry, even if the cashier couldn't locate the cause of an "as is" sale item. Some of the extra space not afforded to other Lou Lou locations was used to display a higher volume of accessories, including a cheesy table of St Paddy's themed items. In the back corner was a mini beauty section, a la Bath'n'Body vibe. Soaps weren't pleasantly fragrant to me, and the tester cosmetics had been heavily abused. This place had me hooked on looking at glitzy earrings and funky necklaces and shiny accessories of all kinds. The prices were totally affordable too. I just loved browsing at all the unique stuff in there that's laid out by color and product (all hair stuff on one wall, all earrings on another). Makes for a lovely addition to your King St stroll. I went in today because I had never been in. I saw some cute things. I had my mother and my children with me and I'm that parent that won't let them touch a thing. One of the sales ladies, I noticed, was following us. I assumed it was to make sure my kids didn't mess with anything, which I can understand. But when I walked by her and she actually bent to look In my bag (purchases that I had made at other local boutiques) I realized she was following me. I was dressed nice and carrying a handbag that was more than anything in the store. I can only assume it's because my mother and I are Hispanic. Very clean, color coordinated, material coordinated layout. Items were very fairly priced: satchels for $55, wallets from $10 - $24, earrings for $15. I also saw watches and scarves. Lou Lou also sells home products such as candles, soaps, and hand creams. I want one of everything. I love this shop and how everything glitters and gleams and shimmers. This is a great place to pick up a souvenir to commemorate a lovely outing in Old Town, Alexandria. Or, if you are a local, this is where you pick up that something special to slip in your sister's or mother's stockings on Christmas morning. What a fabulous place to spend money on things you don't need! Tons of adorable costume jewelry, handbags, wallets, accessories, really it's sensory overload. My friends and I browsed for a good half hour, looking thru the tables upon tables of color-grouped jewelry and accessories. I found two pairs of earrings, my sister found a great purse, and other friends ended up with at least one item. I don't think any of us left empty-handed! I can always find a last minute gift for a friend or pick up something random I probably don't need but would also die without. This location is cool since it's larger than the one in Georgetown so you have a larger selection to choose from - which is also dangerous. This place is nothing shy of AWESOME. I ventured to Lou Lou after a co-worker suggested it to get a birthday gift for a friend in October, and after that I was HOOKED! They have every type of accessory that a girl could want in so many colors and designs it's hard to go there without spending at least an hour in the store (well, unless you're good at tearing yourself away). Everything is so easy to find and color-coordinated for all your needs. They have such unique costume jewelry at very reasonable prices. Yesterday, for some Christmas shopping, I brought my roommate to the store and we got 9 items for $130! What a great place to find gifts for women of all ages. The scarves (in bright and fun colors) were so soft and nice, I will definitely be getting one (or two) in the fun, festive colors. This place has cute accessories and I have shopped here several times. Unfortunately, I will never return due to the horrible customer service. My fiance was trying to be sweet and surprise me with a gift while we were shopping together. I saw him at the checkout so walked up to stop the transaction (it was cute, not something I needed!). The credit card transaction was still processing--he hadn't even signed for it yet--and the checkout girl refused a return. "Sorry, store credit only. Not refunds." Are you kidding me? You barely ran the card. I have worked in the retail industry--I understand policy--but this was ridiculous. I asked for the manager and she informed me she WAS the manager. Wow. I've been staying at Hotel Monaco this week and keep walking by this adorable shop but it's always closed so I've been window shopping in preparation for when it's open. Tonight I walk in the unlocked door, (store has handful of customers) and pick up the leather purse in the window I've been eying so I canThe snippy sales clerk yells out "we're closed" So why was door unlocked? This Lou Lou is pretty much the same as the Dupont location, although I didn't recall seeing perfume in the original outpost. For those unfamiliar, it's kind of like a larger, slightly more sophisticated version of accessories kiosks at the mall with a few nice designer vermeil jewelry pieces in the mix. The designer jewelry section seemed to be smaller than that of the Dupont store. It's a wonderland of affordable, trendy accessories, and what appeared to be pleather and nylon handbags. This was one of my favorite stores...Yesterday, I went into the store in Old Town Alexandria to purchase a bracelet. When I walked in, no one acknowledged me. As I continued to browse, Madeline ( Sales Lady) acknowledged every Caucasian person that walked into the store. Needless to say, this was hurtful and I didn't purchase anything. If only I could give them less than one star... So, a couple of weeks ago I purchased some jewelry from this Lou Lou location for three friends who had hosted my baby shower, but subsequently decided to get them something different. As a result, I still had the gift receipts and the original receipt as well. I went in to return the jewelry (with receipts and debit card in hand) and was given two options: (1) store credit, or (2) an exchange. No explanation was given as to why I couldn't just have my money put back on my debit card, as would happen at just about any other store in the world. The person doing the return made three idiotic points: (1) the return policy is stated on the receipt (which you don't have until AFTER you make a purchase); (2) there is a small, inconspicuous note at the counter with the policy (which no one points out when you're making a purchase); and (3) this is the way most boutiques are (that's just a straight-up lie; I've worked enough retail to know that's not the case). I opted for the gift card, knowing that this store has gotten the last $50 from me it would EVER get. I don't make a lot of returns, but I can't--on principle--patronize a store with such a ridiculous policy. Rather than give me back the money I paid, they would rather keep the money and give me something else worth a third of the price (assuming at least a 300% markup as is usually the case with these stores). I complained about it to someone else, and they said they could see the store's position. "What if people just buy things, wear them, and then return them?" Well, that, unfortunately, is the risk you run with retail. Also, what's to keep someone from doing the exact same thing with his or her store credit? I'll just give the card to someone else. read more
