I came in for the first time today after having brunch across the street at Mia's and the customer experience was disappointing. They have a lot of cute stuff and as someone from Rhode Island, I was excited to find a place with a lot of coastal-themed selections. However, the fitting room attendant seemed so annoyed by me wanting to try some dresses on. She opened the door to the fitting room and just walked away. She didn't introduce herself, tell me her name, or offer help. She never checked on me, so while I would have liked to try on different sizes, I just didn't because she was nowhere to be found. I ended up purchasing a clutch but I would be hesitant to come back, I felt pretty uncomfortable overall. read more

We happened to be strolling around Alexandria, and stumbled into, The Lucky Knot. Upon entering we were sorta greeted. They have really nice stuff. They have clothes, bags, jewelry, bath items, candles ect. I'm regards to clothing nothing plus size at all that I could tell. Kinda disappointed honestly. Plus size people have money too. I'd like to buy clothes too, not just bags and jewelry. But, anywho. The store was very clean. Prices are definitely high here. Perfect for the yacht club enthusiast. read more

12/5/21 This place has some nice stuff, but it is like walking through the high end stores of Tyson's Galleria. Still, I saw a nice poncho like coat I thought would look good on my wife. Sadly I don't think she would want it, so I didn't try. I know her style and this isn't one of them. Looking around I saw a world of gadgets and stocking stuffers for the individual recipients...should they l want them or not. I was standing near a talk redhead who I suspect wasn't a customer, but an associate...no, manager. She was doing some with the products she was selling when I noticed some black shirts. I later saw the redhead ring someone up, when Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You started playing. I started to cringe at the beginning of hearing Mariah's song. Evidently, the readhead (who I will call Lyssa going forward from here) did not care to hear Mariah Carey sing her Christmas for the umpteenth time. She called out to Google's Siri to stop playing the song, but Siri paid Lyssa no mind. People around the cash register thought this was funny. It is what really stood out to me while my wife and I were there. The second floor contained Summertime dress and gowns. The cost for these outfits would be high. Nevertheless, people will buy them. We did not find anything we truly wanted, but it was nice to see what kind of merchandise is sold here for this Winter season. It was worth the trip to see if we would be Luck Or Knot. read more

After having dinner on the Waterfront, we decided to take a stroll up King Street and this cute little ship caught our attention. If you live bright colors and fun prints, this is your shop! Lots of Vera Bradley, Lilly Pulitzer, Simply Southern and more. I was purchasing a couple of the Lilly agendas they had for sale out front on a table and when they were scanned, I guess one rang up a different price than marked. The sales associate then went outside to double check the price and then came in and overrode the price. I get that things happen and stuff doesn't always go perfect, but the experience was pretty awkward since even though it was marked, she was insinuating that I may have altered the price and had to check the prices of the other similar items. I ended up looking up stairs as well and the girl upstairs was much more pleasant. read more

Super charming shop with cute items. However the young ladies staffing the shop were way more concerned with trying on shoes than engaging with customers. There were 4 customers and not any customer service. I left without buying anything. read more

Wasn't impressed at all with the staff. Not very friendly and seemed annoyed to be spoken to. Visited the store with my nephew and we found a shirt he liked. Unfortunately they didn't have the XL size he needed. I asked if they had other sizes. She said check the website. First off that is your job not mine. I've worked retail before and I would've checked the website for a customer. Second when I checked the website myself they didn't even have the shirt. Honesty just another overpriced store with rude snotty staff. read more

A formal room for events and even an addition when I need to pick up something for my husband. I love the personal service from staff who often offer suggestions of something I might not have tried. This is a solid shopping stop in Alexandria. Of course, the store' preppy style may not be for everyone, but it does have its place in Old Town. Some of the items in the store can be a bit pricy for my taste, but I have managed to find a few gems. The other day I picked up a pair of American Flag hand knit mittens. My mother loves these treasures; they are patriotic and super comfy warm. At $25, these mittens were the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer. The Lucky Knot even had a matching hat and scarf set so that my mom can get her patriotism on even in the dead of winter. If I could give a 3.5 rating, I would certainly do so for this store. read more

I was looking forward to my visit to old town alexandria and dress shopping for my daughter's wedding. I have seen this shop in many of my visits and purchased a few things in the past. I knew they carry beautiful reception dresses upstairs. I arrived later in the day on a Wednesday at 6pm. I was hoping they would help me without an appointment as I was very nervous and anxious to find a flattering dress for my daughter's destination wedding. I was greeted by a woman who said she was the fashion designer for the dresses. I told her what I was looking for and my size which is a 16. She quickly told me we don't carry your size. I then asked her if she knew where I could look in the area as I was staying overnight. She told me she was sure I could look on line under and she stammered a few seconds and I said under curvy women and she said yes curvy. It was the most awkward humiliating and deflating experience in a clothing store. Customer service was disappointing and the evening was filled with sadness. Not everyone is a size 2 I may be curvy but a 16 is common amongst my age group. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

If you want to be followed around a store by a retail twit pretending to fix clothing, then this is the store for you!! At first I thought I was imagining it but she followed me upstairs and literally started messing with a bowl of bracelets. Their clothes are cute but the quality of some of it is similar to forever 21, but priced at $159. Plenty of cheap costume jewelry and made in China accessories. I will never go back here. read more

I normally do not write reviews but this store made me and my mom just feel so awful. We were not greeted unlike the other customers in the store and we were being followed throughout the store. When I asked about a vest and if they had any in my size the sales rep told me they didn't have my size without checking. We then left and were followed out the door. It is a cute store and I had planned on buying several things based on their website but I will not be returning. If the store reads this comment, please choose kindness in the future. read more

Would give them 0 if possible. Went on Black Friday while walking the town with my father and the store was absolutely empty and yet the two women working the counter couldn't be bothered to greet us. I had picked up a few items to purchase but decided against it. The two women continued to talk amongst themselves and didn't even bother saying anything when we exited. They had some really cute clothes, the staff was friendly and started me a dressing room right away, and best of all, I walked away with a great dress for a decent (maybe a little expensive) of a price. This store is definitely worth a look if you're in old town and need a semi-causal or more of a formal look! They have formal clothes upstairs and to the left and men's clothes in the back on the first floor. read more

Went in to buy a gift, rep behind the counter never left her spot and remained scrolling on her phone the whole time. This isn't the first time I've gone in, but I've always left because of lack of customer service. Blame it on my retail background, but customer services wins sales and keeps places in business. They are only still here because of location and brands they carry, not because of customer service. read more

I'D HAPPILY CHANGE THIS POST IF THE LUCKY KNOT WAS WILLING TO ACCEPT MY RETURN (BOUGHT 18 DAYS AGO, TAGS ON, UNWORN, STILL IN THE BAG) I was told explicitly by the sales girl (who, admittedly, I believe was new) that I could return items for a refund within 30 days. So I bought two items, which are expensive, and went home to try them on for a second opinion. I later look at the receipt and it says it is 14 days and no refunds at all! What kind of operation is this? While I believe the sales girl was new, it was such a standard practice of return I didn't think I needed to ask another associate to be sure. What place doesn't take refunds on unused, tags-on items anymore, anyway? For the price of the dresses here, they could afford to have far better customer service. read more

It's a cute little shop in Old Town Alexandria, so it's a shame that the staff is so rude. My mother and I, who are African-Americans, visited the shop on July 30, 2018. When we entered the store, we were not greeted by the older, dark-haired Caucasian sales attendant, who looked directly at us. Instead, she found Caucasian customers to go chat with. Soon after, a middle-aged, blonde sales attendent came downstairs, looked at us, walked past us, and did not acknowledge us either. That was enough for us to decide to leave the shop without spending our money there. Which is unfortunate because they have some really nice things that we would've been more than willing to purchase, if their staff had treated us with basic respect. We will not be back. read more

Super cute little boutique. Great for locals or tourists. They have a lot of cute little trinkets and clothing. Some highlighted brands would be Simply Southern, Vera Bradley, and Lily Pulitzer. I honestly just like walking in and browsing some of the cute little things they have. It's a great spot to buy a souvenir or memento. But would also be a great spot to find a unique gift. They offer jewelry and clothing- with the cute little "souvenir" shirts you often find in beach front stores. I love looking through their tumblers & glasses, and the cute accessories from Lily Pulitzer. It's a 2 story shop that also sells formal wear on the upper level. I'm marrying a woman who adores all things Lilly, Vineyard Vines, etc. Growing up having zero clue about those brands, I've found that I can traipse into The Lucky Knot, receive amazing and friendly service, and realize that just about anything that I buy will be to the satisfaction of my loved one. In fact, I've even found things in there for myself that I love! It would've been nice to not grow up under a rock, but The Lucky Knot sure helps me catch up! read more

Amazing selection of resort dresses, jewelry and accessories. Wonderful sales lady upstairs knew the inventory very well and was super sweet and helpful. I was surprised to see a large selection of formal wear. Will be back with my daughter to look for MOB dress soon! read more

Adorable, preppy and fun. This is a store for grown ups, and I loved everything from the summer dresses to the earrings to the makeup bags. Also, some really great ties-planning to come back during Christmas shopping! Only drawback: the price. Thin, summery cotton shift dresses for $250 is a bit much, but obviously, this is the area with pocketbooks that deep. The accessories are more affordable and perfect for summer. read more

On July 30th 2019, I visited the store in Old Town Alexandria. When I entered the store, no one greeted me because Christie, the sales lady was extremely busy talking to a Caucasian woman that was sharing a story about her Outer Banks experience. This conversation went on for approximately (15) minutes or more. While I continued to browse the store, I remembered that my husband spent a few hundred dollars there during the Christmas holidays. Prior to leaving the store, I mentioned to Christie the above and she became defensive and she grudgingly apologized. Needless to say, I didn't spend any money there and I will NOT be back. Note to The Lucky Knot, please teach your employees basic customer service skills. read more

The Lucky Knot is my "Go To" local dress shop. I've purchased 10 Jude Connally dresses there in the past couple of years. They have THE best Jude selection anywhere and can get you a size if they don't have it. The staff that works there is very responsive, helpful, and well....just downright fun to deal with. Best part is that they WILL tell you if a style isn't working for you. They will help you find the best for you. You will leave there with a wardrobe that makes you look and feel terrific! read more

I really enjoy this store. It is a welcome change from what used to occupy the space years ago and adds some life to the King/S Union intersection. Lots of great gifts for women and men, very tongue in cheek options. Most of the stuff you can buy online or in a department store but I prefer shopping local when I can. My story starts with a challenging search for a particular dress. I, like I am sure others do as well, saw a dress at a store that didn't have my size and buying on line showed all stores that carry it were sold out. I called The Lucky Knot and spoke to Kristie and she was able to locate it at their Annapolis store. I wanted to wear it to a holiday party the following day, however I didn't have time in my schedule to drive to Annapolis to pick it up. Kristie arranged to have the owners transport it themselves to the Alexandria store where I was able to pick it up in time for the party. Kristie went above and beyond to assist me in my search. This boutique has really cute items, but every time I go in, the customer service is SO terrible. They act like they're inconvenienced by questions and barely offer any sort of greeting or anything. I refuse to buy anything here anymore. I'll go in and look and then go buy what I want elsewhere. This is such an amazing store!! Everyones so nice and welcoming and the owners are awesome! I love going there especially in the summer and just walking around the town and stopping by to do some shopping! They have many different brands and their clothing is amazing! For the preppy style of clothing they sell, Lucky Knot is definitely a great store. Expensive but they have lovely items that my teenage son likes. But yikes is it snobby to the hilt. Admittedly, I was dressed in very casual clothing. But you'd think in that small space with very few people about, that the sales person would pipe up with at least a small, minimal greeting. Walked within a foot of her several times and nothing save the whiff of superiority. Considered walking out but my dire need for gifts made me stick it out. I'll go back if it's convenient because they have a wide and varied selection. But probably not my first choice. read more

The Lucy Knot is a must stop when I go back to Alexandria. If you live in the area and like to wear super preppy dresses, with dolphins, crabs, and sailor like stuff, you will fall in love with this place. They have so so much cute stuff, which is not really my style, but I can appreciate it. If I was taking a trip out to Martha's Vineyard or Cape Cod, I would make it a priority to shop here. They have some super cute children's clothes, and I fell in love with some Reagan/Bush hats, and koozies. I also picked up some crab salt and pepper shakers for a housewarming gift, and a really sweet Democrat belt for my dad. They have an upstairs dressing room and it is filled with really lovely clothes. They are beyond my price point for causal dress ($200+ per dress) but I can appreciate the quality. read more

I popped in here after the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade. If you love all things preppy, this is the store for you! They carry brands such as Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Vera Bradley, and Kate Spade, among others. I was surprised how large the store was because after walking around the lower level, we then headed upstairs where there were even more great clothes and accessories and finally, they even have another section upstairs that carries more formal wear. I've died and gone to prepster heaven. My favorite bloggers follow The Lucky Knot, and it has been on my must-visit list for quite a while now. Worth the wait! All the right designers... Sail to Sable, Barbour, Jack Rogers, Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Sperry, Sloane Ranger, and loads of other small labels that offer nautical, cute items. This store has the largest and most amazing Elizabeth McKay collection I have ever seen. I snagged an amazing dress in a rare pattern I couldn't find anywhere and was sold out online. Loved the first floor, and then realized there was an upstairs... then another room... then another room. Swoon. As I left, I realized there was a guy's store right next door, and even there I didn't leave empty handed. I'd say overall the service was a bit lacking, but I was so excited about the selection, I didn't really care. Warning to savvy shoppers: I was super surprised to see so many dated Vineyard Vines items. They're selling pieces (at full price) that have been off the shelves for 6+ months in retail stores. This was a bit of a turnoff, but hey, it's a local boutique. read more
