Two stars for cute clothes. Zero stars for gossipy staff who completely ignored me while I was in the store (including when I had to edge around one staff member who was blocking the doorway). Not even a "hello." I am fairly certain the staff members took one look at my Saturday outfit and decided I couldn't afford the items in this store. Wrong. (Not Julia-Roberts-in-Pretty-Woman-level-wrong, but wrong nonetheless). Dear staff, I don't really care why you were both complaining about the myriad poorly behaved children you have encountered lately, or the poor parenting choices leading to said poorly behaved children. I would have bought the cute jean jacket I was looking at if you had deigned to acknowledge me. You didn't. So I'm getting it online. Management- train your staff members. read more

OMG, love this store! I loved everything in here ... clothing, shoes, housewares! Unfortunately, I was more like.... when I am not preggo, I will purchase this this and that! The only thing I could purchase really was the jewelries, accessories, and housewares. They have a lot of brand lines and items that are picked out uniquely to everyone's (ok, at least my) liking.\ My sister ended up getting a gorgeous bracelet! Of all the cute boutiques in Alexandria, Kiskadee is by far my favorite! The owner is amazing - a veteran, community leader and generous donor to local schools and charities. Her store is immaculate and carries every high end brand. Her taste is impeccable, the displays are beautiful, and her sales team was super helpful when I took a friend there for a "back to work" clothing shopping spree recently. Personally, I love the Dana Gibson gifts, fun reading glasses, and handbags. Highly recommend this darling store in the heart of Del Ray. read more

Kiskadee is just too adorable not to get 4 stars. After eyeballing this storefront for the past 2 months I was finally drawn in today by their large "Sale! Sale! Sale!" sign. I'm pretty happy that I did. The selections are pricey and relatively safe. (Read: you will not find any funky or particularly unique pieces here.) However, what they do have are tried and true classics like sailor pants, trench coats and charm bracelets. What really won me over were the little touches. In the dressing room they provide both a nude and black undershirt for trying on slightly-sheer items. Plus, unlike most dressing rooms which feel dirty and cold, they have really made an effort to dress this space up as if it were the changing room in your (well-off) friend's cabana. When the weather is warm, they open up their patio area which displays garden accessories... and super comfy looking hammock swing that I enviously watched some guy sit in and read a book for my entire visit. Finally, the one employee that was working this evening was just SO sweet and managed to find that delicate balance between being helpful and being pushy. A neighborhood gem and wonderful boutique! This shop stocks interesting, high-end brands (Michael Stars, Nicole Miller, etc) for day, evening and weekend wear. Great selection of shoes, and my go-to for denim. They also have birthday cards, which has helped me in a pinch. Reasonable rewards program, excellent sales, and a very high rate of stock turnover, so you see new items each time you visit. The owner, Celeste, is always helpful and has a great eye for what is going to look great on you. My teenage daughter has also found some of her favorite pieces here! The pricing of clothes is in line with the quality. The staff are helpful without being too clingy. I bought a cocktail dress here that I loved and subsequently ripped, and one of the staff members helped me get the strap repaired at a shop across the street. read more

I've looked in here for shoes and a top but didn't find exactly what I wanted and I found everything to be a bit pricier than my budget allows. However, the clothes and shoes were all lovely and they had beautiful scarves and accessories that were more affordable to me. They are friendly to you there and leave you alone (which I like) unless you have a question or whatever. read more

I love Anthropologie. I do. So do a lot of other people. It's a little depressing to be wearing a hipster frock you shelled out some serious dough for only to see some other chick at the local coffee joint sporting the same look. Enter Kiskadee. Sure, you will recognize some big labels - Milly, Taylor - but they offer other cute "boutique" labels as well, designers you don't find everywhere and on everybody. The fashions are cute but not cutesy. They do carry the toile-y bags I see a lot of Arlingtonians carrying to shop and/or schlep kids but over all the choices are a little quirky, a lot fun. I did notice that they have a limited choice of fun home decor items; this is something upon which I wish they would expand. The dining set upstairs was cool; I wanted to see some funky chairs thrown into the mix as well. Maybe later. I will definitely be back to check. read more

I generally like the clothes ok but they are overpriced. And the quality of the salespeople really varies. Today a snotty woman told me that they only had a shirt in a size smalll (and therefore I could not buy it). Um I AM a size small! Today I just got a snotty, you're not rich or thin enough vibe from them which is annoying because I have spent a lot of money there over the years. Never met these salespeople before today but generally have had a varied experience with customer service. read more

I dig this cute little boutique in Del Ray, but have not yet shelled out the cash necessary to buy an outfit there. Really nice fashions for women, especially dresses. But they're pricey, at 120-200 a pop. The sale rack, which they sometimes have out front, often has good deals. read more

Clothing is alright, nothing high fashion, just expensive and bland. The salespeople are incredibly snotty and the other customer I encountered was rather entitled. This woman carelessly blocked my car in the driveway, so I had to walk back in and ask her to move. The salesperson actually asked me to let her keep shopping/finish her order before moving her car. I love this store! I always find something unique and cute every time I come here. It is a little pricey but I think that the quality of the merchandise merits the prices. The staff is also very nice. I am 9 months preggo and the staff noticed it immediately and asked if I was getting enough water to drink. One of the staff members also scored me $20.00 off on a purse I had been coveting. I live in Centreville and I think this store alone makes it worth the trip to Del Ray. read more

A friend won a night of "Shopping and Sipping" here and invited a bunch of girls including myself. This was my first time in this store, so wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be an adorable little boutique, and I found several unique pieces that I liked. Part of the package that my friend won included a 20% discount, so it didn't take long to rack up $400 in merchandise, which included just 3 items (two blouses and a casual dress). I brought the stuff home and forgot about one of the pieces as it was more for Spring (this was March so still a little chilly), and didn't try it on again for a couple of months. When I did try it on, I decided that it looked a little frumpy so decided to take it back to the store to see what kind of credit I could get. I definitely didn't expect a refund or even a full credit, but being that I bought $400 worth of items the first time around and would have been more than happy to purchase more items that day (which I was planning to do), I thought they would at the very least offer me some kind of credit or discount on another purchase. I explained very honestly what happened and, to my surprise, one of the owners (it is owned by two women), snubbed her nose at me and told me that they have a 7-day return policy (which I knew) and then turned to another customer. I explained that I didn't want a refund or even full credit, but could I get something towards another purchase. She said the same thing again (and this was said with quite a standoffish attitude) and again turned to another customer without batting an eyelash. I respect policies, however, I think customer service is important...and they had zero! They were not willing to budge and had such a "better than thou" attitude, that I would never shop here again! I imagine there was something they could have done that would have made all parties happy as I think we all would have benefited if they gave me as little as a 10% discount on a future purchase. I would have bought something that I liked for say $100 (as there is not much in there that is below that price), and they would have made some extra profit. Too bad on their part. Definitely their loss as I did like their stuff and like to shop! read more

Another cute shop in Del Ray. Interesting somewhat unique clothes and accessories, but as many have mentioned, often on the pricey side. But if you catch something on sale, it can be quite the score. They always have a sale rack in the back room, and sometimes even outside right in front of the store (in good weather). I've primarily purchased either shoes or some really nice, more distinctive coats that always receive compliments. I snagged the last coat at 1/2 price because they were closing for a short time to remodel--remember keep an eye out for a sale. As far as shoes, my best find was the perfect rain boots( by Henry Ferrero), which were less expensive than the well-known Hunter brand, even though not on sale. People tell me they look like regular fashion boots. You get the idea...their merchandise will get noticed by others with an eye for fashion. If you are familiar with the annual Boutique Warehouse sale held every February in Alexandria in the George Mason Masonic Temple, Kiskadee has a table each year I've shopped at the event...then you can really catch a deal! If nothing else, it's a fun place to window shop. Make sure you give it a look when you are in Del Ray. read more

I'm honestly a little baffled by Kiskadee. I've been in the store at least four times in the past year, and each time have spent about a hundred bucks. I'm on their mailing list. And every time I go in there, the salesladies give me serious side-eye or completely ignore me. Today I stood at the register for five minutes waiting to buy a purse while they pretended I was a piece of furniture. It's really weird. The clothes aren't really my style, but I like their jewelry and purses, but I'm just done with going there. Apparently I need to slap on a blonde wig and a Lilly Pulitzer shift to get treated like a customer. read more
