I've had 3 negative experiences at 529 Kids Consign over 4 months. 1- I bought kids' items on Instagram. Since the shop is a 30-45 minute drive for me, I called first to ensure my items were ready for pickup. The salesperson said, "I have them right here!" However, when I arrived, she was frantically searching for them. I asked for a refund, but was told to come back the next day when the owner, Megan, was in the store. When I explained this wasn't a possibility because I work full-time, she finally relented and gave me store credit but wouldn't issue a refund. 2- Before buying a kid's item on Instagram, I asked if there was any pilling, holes, or stains. I was told the item was in like-new condition. When I picked it up, it had lots of piling and a second item I bought had stains. (I was able to exchange the items, but the store needs to be more transparent about the condition of items.) 3- I was the first person to claim and pay for an item on Instagram. When I went to collect it, I was given the wrong dress. The store sold the dress I claimed to another customer who was second to claim. The salesperson called the owner Megan and her response was, "Uggh. I can't DEAL with this RIGHT NOW. I need to be a mom." I was shocked at her response. I have four children and my time is valuable too! A better response from the owner might have been, "I'm so sorry for the mixup. I'm not in a position to address this right now. May I call you back?" I offered the salesperson my phone number and asked if the owner could call me at a more convenient time. When Megan did call me she said, "There's nothing we can do and I can't help it that YOU read the post wrong." When I offered a suggestion on how to improve labeling in the Instagram posts, she said, "There's not a problem with our process." Further, when I mentioned how two of my items were previously lost Megan said, "I can't control what comes out of everyone's mouths. The items weren't lost, they were probably in the store but the girl couldn't find them and she probably doesn't even work here anymore." Megan also said she two girls who work in the store have dyslexia. It seemed strange to me that Megan didn't keep employees' medical issues private. Being open to feedback and providing training for employees are hallmarks of a good business. Sadly, 529 Kids Consign doesn't provide even the most basic level of customer service. So I'm choosing to spend my money elsewhere.

They eventually admitted they couldn't find my items and said it must have been "stolen" and gave me just a $50 credit (Their contract states they aren't liable for lost or stolen goods, so consigners get no reimbursement), so please don't bring your high-end items here. I was initially sized for a custom tux shirt early June 2024 for my wedding on July 26, 2024. I paid $300 for the shirt. The shirt was not ready until August 8 and the shirt did not fit correctly. I knew there was a chance the shirt wouldn't be ready in time, however, I was told by Dash's that it was possible. I ended up purchasing a shirt from Brooks Brothers for my wedding that fit perfectly without any alterations needed. There was a major issue with the upper button/section of the shirt that you wouldn't expect from a custom shirt. I took the shirt back to Dash's on October 12 and the owner Victor assured me that they would get it fixed. On November 2, I returned to the store after being told the shirt was ready. When I arrived at the store, Victor told me there was a mistake and the shirt wasn't ready. He said they would have to send it back to the manufacturer. I did not hear back from the store until January 8, 2025 - in which I received a text letting me know that the shirt was ready and that they've been trying to get in contact with me. Prior to this, I never received a call or text with an update. Nonetheless, I proceeded to go back to the store to pickup the shirt, only for Victor to tell me it wasn't ready. He told me that there's a piece he was looking for on amazon and other sites that he couldn't find. He went on to ask me to look for that piece as well. Then he alluded to my height as being an issue. Mind you, Victor is an inch taller than me. Not only that, it was a custom shirt. So that's a poor excuse. At this point, I am frustrated because I paid $300 for a custom shirt that wasn't done correctly. Till this day, I have yet to receive the shirt. I've requested a refund and Victor refuses to give me one. His reasoning - "they are a small business." There has been no attempt to make things right by resizing for a shirt, or offering me anything to make up for the mishap. I've attached two pictures showing the issue with the shirt.

I called again on April 12th and he said "rest assured it will ship from Italy by April 18th." I was leaving for my wedding on April 23rd, and when I relayed my concerns he started yelling at me over the phone saying I don't know what he has to deal with, he "has to work with Italians," and said he has no control over it, then said it "wasn't my issue" which it certainly is. He rarely got my name right, he would call me by the wrong name often and even when I told him he would come back ON THE SAME PHONE CALL with someone else's order info. Incredibly unprofessional, rude, inconsistent, and all around a bad business. It's a wonder he's still in business. You can get this quality suit anywhere, you're paying more here for customer service and the personal touch. Save your money and go to a name-brand chain. Only reason this isn't one star is because I did end up getting the suit the day before I left for the wedding. If I hadn't called repeatedly, I doubt I would have it. Not once was I called first from Dash's about the suit I purchased. Not worth the hassle and headache.
