When it comes to nail salons I am VERY PICKY (color selection, designs they can do, how well they can shape nails, etc) I was recommended to lotus by a customer that comes into my bar, her nails were AMAZING & she told me about Vicky at Lotus on spectrum. I read the reviews and saw only great things about Vicky. I immediately called and scheduled my appointment! Previously I raved about Phoenix nails in Montgomery village & my review on them still stands but they don't do fun designs, just polish. Since this was my first appointment & I really wanted to see Vicky's skills I asked for a gel fill wit marble design & coffin shape. All I did was show Vicky a picture and she said 'okay' & went to work. My nails came out perfect!! Exactly how I wanted them. I was like 'okay, bet. I went to Lotus bails after my unpleasant experience yesterday to have my pedi. I made an appt in advance with Jenny. My appt. was at 2:30. I arrived at 2:40 and she was waiting for me. I have to say they honor there appts. When I arrived another young lady had come in to see Jenny. The receptionist then told her she would have to wait. I feel bad since I was late but most salons give you a 15 minute grace period. In any event, Jenny greeted me in a pleasant manner. She asked what color I wanted and the kind of pedicure. I chose the spa pedi for $35. Jenny was very gentle, she took her time and gave a great foot and leg massage. The salon was very clean and spacious. It was midday so it wasn't too crowded but everyone there had a customer. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a nail salon in the Gaithersburg area. I will definitely return to see what kind of job they do on the nails. read more

I came here with my grandma because it was close to our house and we wanted to try a new place as our usual nail person is out of town, but it was the worst decision ever! I had to ask for her to clean my cuticles and she CUT two of my fingers and as it was bleeding she didn't say sorry. She was so rough with the drill and was trying to finish quickly that she ended up hurting my skin so many time. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND RACIST! My girlfriend and I came here with an appointment and had to wait 25 minutes in the back while they seated other white women right away. Finally after we got into a chair for a pedicure we see the staff making sure every white person gets in a pedicure chair right away with no appointment. It was very obvious what was going on here. I had a fantastic pedicure. The guy did an amazing job. He was very focused. He checked in. It was a 5 star pedicure. My only issue was they don't use any sanitizing cover or wrap on the pedicure basins. I thought a wrap or cover was standard procedure at mosy salons by now. My manicure on the other hand was subpar. I had sns done two days ago and it already looks two weeks old. The sns is lumpy. There is gobs of sticky sns powder stuck to my cuticle, the sides of my fingernail, everywhere. I could do a manicure this bad, and I can't do nails. I knew I went on a day when they had several bad reviews, but I hoped that maybe it would have gotten better. The shop was cramped and pretty claustrophobic. It wasn' relaxing. It wasn't worth a repeat trip to be honest. This place is not going to fulfill your nail dreams. Trust me. read more

I had gone to another salon prior to coming here the same day and it just did not feel up to par to my standards, plus the manicurist who I had been seeing had left. Anne has been doing my nails since Mai left GMC Nails (Mont Vg). Now that she is here, I have continued to see her. It's a very clean nail salon, great location with neighboring restaurants, they serve me water or a Diet Coke, and their customer service is excellent. They have two small pedicure chairs that are super cute for kids. I've purchased gift certificates for my daughters here and they boast a full menu of services including waxing. Every time I come to see Anne I want my nail design to come straight from Pinterest. I was a walk in appointment, and was told I could be accommodated on a Tuesday evening. After being asked a few times what design I wanted, and an expected wait for about 35 minutes, i was in the chair with Jenny. I am super pleased with my results and am very happy with the acrylics - they are thin and not heavy or thick at all. My only feedback is that there wasn't much, if any, correction to visibly fix my "ski jump" nails. My ring and little finger on each hand have nails that annoyingly grow upward, and the tip & acrylic were placed on the free edge of the nail that grows upward. As a result, my last 3 nails on each hand have an upward appearance. Aside from that, the work was stellar and quick and my stiletto is dangerously pointy! :) read more

A couple of days ago I went to get my nails done, pedi and gel mani. The pedicure was fine but the manicure was a horrible experience. The technician that was doing my nails cut the side skin of my ring finger. The tech cut me three times in the same spot. The third time I yelled "ouch" and the tech shushed me, signaling me to not say anything. I was very not happy by his actions. Afterwards, the owner asked if I was ok, I told the owner I was not ok. The technician and the owner began talking in their language. Not sure what they said. Then, I excused myself and told the tech that I needed to leave because it was too much pain. He put some green liquid on my finger, no clue what that crap was. Soon after, I went to pay and I was going to only pay for my pedicure; however, the owner said I had to pay for the pedicure and the manicure-clearly, these people will get their money no matter what. I am never returning to this place. Customer service is no good. They told me I had to pay despite the fact that the technician cut my finger and letting it bleed while still continuing with the manicure. Crazy... Not ever going back. read more

First thing first. I went on Yelp to check out the reviews for this nail salon before deciding to go here. Based on the good reviews and photos, I called to book an appointment with Vicky : pink-and-white fill for myself, and nail polish for my tweenage daughter. When we got to the salon, Vicky was still working on a customer, so I patiently waited. Another nail tech proceeded to service my daughter. My daughter wanted ombre style nail polish, but the nail tech just couldn't seem to accomplish the style. I thought maybe because the colors that my daughter chose were too similar, so we substituted one with a darker color. Still, the tech had trouble with the ombre style. Then a male tech (I think his name is Phong) came over, took over, started over. He did it! The polish looked pretty good. $10 for nail polishing. In the meantime, Vicky was doing my pink-and-white fill. I liked that she was not chatty. She asked the right and specific questions regarding how I prefer my nails : short or long? thick or thin? more white fill? She was very focused and very meticulous, and she took her time. I did not feel rushed. My nails look great. $35 for pink-and-white fill. The prices are decent for this area. P.S. There's a sign on the window advertising 20% off on Mon, Tues, and Wed. Lotus Nails has definitely become my go to nail salon lately. They have plenty of nail color options, especially for gel and dip powder. The only reason I'm dipping it down one star is that the last time I visited (WITH an appointment), my nail tech rushed through my appointment even though I had gotten there early and started on time so she could get to her next customer and I felt as though the work was mediocre. I decided to try this salon due to the positive reviews and I am very glad I did! I walked in to get an acrylic full set and design and luckily they had availability to take me right then and there! The gentleman who did my nails (shape, color, etc.) was amazing!! He was very detailed, took his time, and really showed his care to my nails. I was surprised with how much details he looked at because I've never experienced that in any other salon. He gave his opinion on the mail shape which I am so happy that I listened to him because this coffin shape he did looks amazing. The lady who did the designs on my two finger was also very lovely and she made sure to ask for my opinion and if I like a certain line or not and even restarted the design on one nail when I told her I didn't like 1 line. She also offered the glitter on the two nails and said if I didn't like it she could take it off but it actually made a really nice touch so I'm a big fan! I have been seeing the signs for this place for a while and since it is across from my house figured i should try it out. I went on a Sunday around 2:30ish and it was only me and another lady. The staff was friendly and they have a great color selection!!!! It was vast enough that i had a hard time picking a color and one of the ladies made a few suggestions. I had one lady doing my nails and another my pedi. I love the girl (Eunice) who did my pedi she really took her time. The lady who did my nails was good as well. The salon is very clean and they have special pedi chairs for kids which is great for us parents. I will be back for sure! read more

Lotus Nails has a lot of color options for dip powder nails. That part is great. Not all of them are SNS brand so if you are really picky and want to use the full system this place probably isn't for you. Positives: The tech just buffed off the top coat and then used a cotton ball and acetone to get the existing powder polish off. Love that because other places use the drill and claim that it doesn't impact your nails but I noticed that after a few times at places like that my nails were paper thin like they were with acrylics. They really paid attention to the shape and length of my nails. This is something that I care a lot about and normally I have to do it on my own to make sure my nails are all the same length. Negatives: There was no cuticle push back or trimming. My cuticles are not great so a push back would have been nice but maybe the tech didn't feel it was needed. The top coat was not any normal dip powder top coat. It was the UV Gel Nail top coat. I've had this before without issue so I did not really care but looking out my nails today I think they might be a little duller than normal. read more

Last night made my second or third visit which have me saying this just might have to be my new regular spot .. super clean environment and the kiddie pedicure chairs are a nice touch!! ....... So just as i get comfy with a new nail tech she up and disappeared on me leaving my nails looking a super hot mess and with limited techs able to do SNS around here i was thinking to my self that i will forced to going back to acrylics and gels which is exactly what i walked in to This salon for feeling defeated BUT to my surprise they do SNS for the same price i was paying the other tech Both myself and daughter were greeted with a smile and a bottle of water. And after a brief explanation of services she opted for the gel manicure which of course lasts way longer then the regular for only $10 more. Jennifer tended to me while another tended to my daughter. Jennifer was friendly and funny. She's such a perfectionist too. She took her time without being slow if you get what i mean. She was attentive and made sure my nails were even and perfect. The other tech took good care of my daughter too and even gave her a little kid friendly design which made her night.
