It's 12:36AM and I felt compelled beyond belief to write this review. For the record, I did not activate my Yelp account for 2-3 years until now. Simply put...this place is the worst bar I've ever been to in my entire life in DC. For a little bit of background, I travel ~200K miles per year across the country and have lived in DC for past 4 years (not to mention, my family owned food businesses in DC for past 20 years). I saw DC develop into a mature foodie city - yet, I'm sad to write this review as my first on Yelp. It's my friend's 30th birthday in DC. She recently moved from Chicago. We were out at Dacha. Great time with awesome people until we decided to move to Lost & Found. Should be an awesome venue, but they clearly have pretentious bar tenders. Apparently, raising your hand to grab their attention is frowned upon and/or not allowed. Pretty immature and unprofessional. Terrible mannerisms. This is only the beginning.... About 20 minutes later, I tried to line up for the bathroom. For those who know, this bar has a number of unisex bathrooms. I checked each room then lined up to wait (all of the rooms were taken). I waited... then some more... Then a person walked out.. Before I could walk through the door, someone jumped ahead of me. It was Brian, the "owner" of Lost & Found. I called him out for cutting in line. He simply stated that he was the owner in a threatening manner. He looked at me directly and told me to get out after I called him out. He told me that I should "get out". Apparently, customers are beneath him. Brian called his bouncers over and had them escort me out for calling him out. When I tried to stop and talk to my friends about the situation, the bouncers just overpowered me and carried me out. I've been to hundreds of restaurants and bars over the years and I've never been treated this way. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Brian, if you want to say that I was drunk, it's 12:36am and I'm writing this to you. My demeanor had nothing to do with my alcohol consumption. It had everything to do with your lack of concern for your patrons. Feel free to release your security camera footage. If it was truly about sanitary concerns about the bathroom(s), you could've been much better about addressing the situation. This place does not care about its patrons. AVOID AT ALL COST! read more

I was out with my friends celebrating my engagement last Sat night. We ordered four vodka sodas and mine was all soda. The other girls' drinks were fine. My friends all tasted mine and agreed they must've forgot the vodka. I told one bartender and I don't think she believed me, as she told me I can buy a shot to add to it! I saw her complaining about me to the other bartender. Then I went to the other bartender who made the drink, and basically just begged him to try my drink because I knew I was in the right. He refused and was equally rude, telling me to either drink it or leave. I've never met worst bartenders in my life. We had tipped them well and I wish we got our money back. THE WORST! read more

There's a steakhouse in Texas that is famous for staff that are rude and mocking to guests and where they'll cut your tie off with scissors. It's a bit of stchick for which they're well known and patrons come expecting. There are also communities of men who seek to be belittled, insulted, humiliated and used for their money by humiliatixes. If you're that kind of person who is looking to be insulted and taken advantage of financially, then COME ON DOWN to the Lost and Found Bar! This is the place where the bar staff has lost the ability to make a good cocktail and found the minimum return on investment of your drink dollar. Come here for an under-poured drink served up with a side of sneer. When you're done, wander down the street to High Velocity, the sports bar at the Marriott two blocks away next to the convention center. There, you'll find amiable bar staff who actually take pride in making customers happy. I can't believe I've actually just recommended the chain establishment over the neighborhood bar. Yeah, it's a neighborhood establishment, but it's more like that annoying guy down the street who never cuts his grass, lets his trash blow in your yard, and let's his dog crap on your lawn than it is like friendly old man McGillicutty who loans you his hedge clippers, is active in the neighborhood watch and cooks the brats at the annual block party. read more

It's okay for what it is, but when I hear dive bar, I expect a dive bar, not a place that's made to look like a dive bar. This was like going into an "American bar" in Germany. It's like there was a catalog someone picked from and this was the end result. I only get to DC once or twice a year, so I'm always hoping to find another spot to make a point to return to. We went here on a random weeknight walk around downtown. It was about 10pm when we popped in, maybe 40 people inside. As someone else said, it was a mix of people, but predominantly the 2 years out of college "who do you work for?" set. Pompous and full of $hit, but, whatever, parents are paying their bar tab. The tap beer selection was decent. No marks for anything that special, but at least it wasn't all Bud-Hein-Sam-Coors. The cocktail menu was straight from the pages of any other bar, but they did have a pretty varied selection of whiskey and bourbon. Pricing was fair enough, but service wasn't terribly fast from the bar. Speed aside, the tenders were polite and engaged people with questions as needed. Your mileage may vary here with the scene, but the douchiness of the crowd when I was there (stupid little Georgetown asses) doesn't add this to my list of places to come back to. read more

Came here while the Craft Beer Convention was going on, so they had some great rotating tap selections. The bartenders were knowledgeable and chill. Pro Tip: The backbar has more space when the front is super busy, and they have a different tap list. They sometimes have a food truck in the area, but they do not have their own food. read more

Lost & Found is the local bar you have been looking for in Shaw. Tucked away with minimal signage our front, Lost & Found is an eclectically designed bar with an excellent beer, wine and liquor selection and friendly staff. The place is big, so finding a seat for you and your friends is usually not a problem. While Lost & Found doesn't have a food menu, they do have "bar snacks" that include pretzels and goldfish for a small price. Feel free to bring in your own food. SUNdeVICH is right around the corner! I really enjoy going to Lost and Found for a low key drink and hang out with friends. Worth the stop in! read more

I came here yesterday for a friend's birthday. The place was packed on a Friday night (as expected). This is my second time here, the previous time was in the middle of the week with a group of friends. The drinks were good, but not great. I thought our drinks were a little watered down. However, the bar is a cool place to hang out and catch up with friends. They have a section right near the entrance is where my friend had her party. I recommend it for others looking for a place to have a bday at a bar but unsure off space. I thought it was pretty cool that they didn't care about bringing outside pizza, snacks, and cake. read more

L&F is one of the consistent bars in the city I patron. Good beers and low key vibes that make for a good night out.

The bartender was really nice, the industrial vibe was cool, and the cherries were dark and boozy-delicious, but the drink selection overall wasn't that impressive, and did seem watered down, as other Yelpers have noted. Also, I just can't get over places that don't have at least a small food menu--I desperately needed to eat, and just am not willing to order packaged food as my after-work dinner. read more

I have been here a handful of times and have nothing but good things to say about this neighborhood bar. It's nothing fancy, they have a pretty impressive beer list but also serve alcohol as well as wine. Their happy hour is nice: $2 off all draft beers and I believe the same for wine - unclear what the alcohol special was. They do NOT serve food, although they have a small a la carte snack options (think small bag of chips). They sometimes have live music in the front of the house, otherwise it's low key but can get impressively loud when the place gets full. On my most recent visit I learned they actually have an enormous back bar / seating area that I have never seen anyone utilize- unclear it's exact function. Otherwise it's a great place to meet up with friends, limited small table seating but they have a few large tables for bigger groups in the front- and bar seating obviously. read more

I don't know how the previous reviewer was here in 2011 since I'm here in the first night. Time travel I guess. Nice faux divy place. Roomy but the acoustics are stuck that it gets weirdly loud. Great beer selection and quality. My favorite is the Elysian split shot. The blagden side is cooler than the 9th St. side. Decor is a mix between interesting, campy, and creepy depending on the piece and your outlook. Will eventually have food from the carving room available for order. Right now they allow outside food, and Sundevich is close. Bathroom has neon lights, enjoy. read more

Ambiance and great music...though let's step up these drinks! As the name suggests, this bar is tastefully decorated in awesome (and random) objects from around the world. Without anyone there you can easily have a good time, especially with a group of friends. It also looks like a back alley area is in the works, which will be SO COOL when it is up and running. The downside, 5 cocktails that are $12 that I wish were a little more creative. Though the French 75 was tasty, it was no Copy Cat. This is your middle of the road bar, a bar you try once just to check it off your list. Beer sections are plenty, but not that great of a section. Their "food" menu is a bunch of over priced snacks, so make sure you eat before coming here. The one thing I really like about this place is, they allow you to order food from other places and have it delivered. Lost and Found has become our starting point when we have dinner reservations at Rogue 24. It's a cool bar and it's not slammed at 8pm. You never know in DC. People go hard early. The bartenders are lovely and personable. The beer selection is on point. They've also got snacks like Doritos and Twinkies, which is brilliant and I'm not sure how I've never seen this anywhere else. Nice trademark. The cocktails I've had have been meh. I had a Moscow Mule and the balance was off in the drink so it tasted too much like liquor vs ginger and citrus. So I tried one of their signature drinks next. It was a bit of a punch in the face where gin was forefront. You're probably saying - why are you complaining about a stiff drink - and in my 20s I would have agreed with you, but in my (early ;)) 30s I want to taste less liquor and more of a mix of flavors. My boyfriend enjoyed his beers. Maybe stick to having beers when you visit. Or if you like a strong pour, also a plus for you. What a great neighborhood bar. I've been here twice for happy hour with some friends. I love that I can always find a table and the volume is low enough to have a conversation and catch up with friends. The decor is relaxed and low-key: some exposed brick and wood is really all I need. People have mentioned their lack of food (true) BUT I will say that I had a random craving for Swedish fish and it gave me great joy to see them on the snack menu. AND they were only $2 - yes, it's more than I'd pay at CVS but I wouldn't put it past other bars to take advantage of drunk people and charge $4 for them. Also, I was here on Monday and happened to coincide with Monday night trivia. We didn't partake but I will compliment the trivia host for his great trivia voice. read more

I don't live in Washington DC, but when I came to visit my friends could not stop raving about this place, so I had to check it out. I was not disappointed! The ambiance is really cool and relaxed, plus it's spacious, so we never felt cramped. The staff was so nice and helpful-- I couldn't decide which beer to get (they had lots of craft beers that I hadn't heard of), and the owners took the time to walk me through the menu and find me a beer that I loved. I was there on a Tuesday night, and they had free live music. The music was awesome and I was slightly shocked that there wasn't a cover. The noise level was perfect-- we could still hear the music and each other. We actually went back the following night!! Wish I could move this place to San Francisco. read more

We had a party in the private room on 11/12/17 - and I could not have been more pleased. We hosted an open bar, but didn't want to go too deep into hawk - so the bar kept us up to date on our spend throughout the night. When it was time to close the pocket book, we simply switched to a cash bar. It was seamless. We technically had the back room until 9 or 9:30 - but the party was so awesome they let us keep going. The beer selection was awesome, I didn't try the wine, but I heard great things. Cocktails were well priced - but I didn't try those (I was on the clock so stuck to beer). The staff was outstanding. The bar was clean but felt comfy and not stuffy, plenty of bathrooms, and don't let the one or two previous posts (which appear to be two people from the same group cavetching because they got kicked out for being rowdy) scare you about the security team - those guys were great. Just keep in mind, you get out of control at ANY bar, you should be removed. Outside the private room seemed like a great neighborhood place - fun, not pretentious, people looked relaxed and happy. Great happy hour and a great draft list! Bartenders were very friendly and I got very quick service. Only 4 stars because wasn't a big fan of the "vending machine snacks". I've been putting off my review of Lost & Found for some time now, primarily I think, because I didn't quite like it as much as I thought I would. -Cool concept? Check -Underserved neighborhood? Check -Great R&B soundtrack? Check So what was the issue? I went early in the evening, and although it wasn't crowded, service at the bar was poor. I was overlooked for long periods of time and even when I was able to get the attention of the server, it was only begrudgingly; maybe I just wasn't cool enough. As for the space, due to it's location in a deep converted townhouse there was little natural light, which gives it an almost subterranean feel Much of the wall space is given over to either album covers, or old license plates (I guess thewe are the "found" items). There are actually two bars, one with a salvaged/recycled old wooden bar back with mirror. They had 14 drafts, including Calvert Route 4 IPA and Ninkasi Tricerahops. In the almost two years since they opend, numerous places have opened in the immediate vicinity, so the neighborhood is no longer underserved, and one might even say it's now overserved Not sure if this has affected business, but it certainly means there are more options read more

I desperately miss The Passenger so I'm so glad Lost & Found opened. They have 15 or so tap lines with a pretty varied selection. Some local stuff and some west coast stuff and I have definitely tried a few new beers here. They have a happy hour that is at least Monday-Friday where drafts are $2 off. Great bartenders, they are happy to let you taste a few drafts if you're unsure what to order. No kitchen so all they have are a few snacks (think bags of chips, rice crispy treats, etc.). The bar is a cool environment, it's full of all sorts of eclectic stuff. It can be kind of dark and noisy when it's crowded. read more

Pretty big bar that's connected to Blagden Alley. It's no frills but when I was there on a rainy Friday night, it was pretty crowded for 9pm. Just enough people but not overwhelming so that it's uncomfortable. When the weather gets better, I hope they open the back door so the bat really expands. Overall, a cool place with a mixed crowd of people. Some young, some older, most yuppies...which might not be a good thing but isn't this city all yuppies so you can't really escape anyway. read more

One of my favorite weeknight bars. I really prefer it when there are fewer people...not a service issue, but I like the vibe more without the suited up, post-work happy hour crowd. My boyfriend and I stop by for a couple beers a few nights a month, though we'd be back more if we could afford to! Prices are mostly normal for DC beer scene, but we're always tempted to stray for the rarer, more expensive options. The smaller pours are well-priced too. Pleased to see that they're partnering with Smoked and Stacked to do food on the weekends too!! S&S is phenomenal. There's something really comforting about a bar or restaurant that doesn't try too hard: a place where you can go for happy hour on weekdays, or at the end of the night on a Saturday, or anytime in between. Lost & Found is that kind of bar - a classic, social, no-weird-theme-or-unwelcome-costumes kind of place. Good beer, good wine, a few cocktails, and plenty of space and seating. My boyfriend and I both had birthday gatherings there - it's a good place for a large group, especially if you can snag one of the big round tables right by the entrance. I think you can reserve one ahead of time if you call in advance, but don't quote me on that. I feel kind of weird giving a place five stars without raving like a crazy person about it, which I am prone to doing - see Red Hen/Two Amy's/etc), but I think Lost & Found's normalcy is the main reason I like it. It's good for any crowd: close friends, dates, large groups, or even that awkward person from your Econ class in college who you bump into on the train and says, "Ohmygod we HAVE to get together!" ...and then who actually follows through on that invitation. I digress. But in any case, Lost & Found is a solid choice for anyone, anytime, and that's why I love it. read more

Extremely rude staff. Espeicially the manager. He wouldn't let us order more than one round of shots even though we had just got there. He also wouldn't let me switch out a drink that was ordered wrong and not only that but was very rude and snappy to me about it. Came here last night while we waited for a reservation at Tiger Fork. Entered through the back door and were greeted by a friendly bartender at the "alley bar" (s/o to Mike!) He let us sample the Groove City beer which was absolutely delicious. A hefeweizen with banana undertones - super yummy and just what I needed to fill my starving stomach. Even though we were only at the bar for 30 minutes or so I definitely dug the atmosphere. Seems more like a dudes bar more than a bar I would come to with girlfriends, but definitely a great spot to kill time before a reservation or to enjoy an after dinner drink! I'll be back! read more

Lost & Found is an interesting new addition to Shaw. The bartenders were happy to make suggestions and considering it was their first day open I thought they had the place running quite smoothly. They have a great beer selection and I loved about the bar menu is that you didn't just have the name of the beer but also the style (so it was easy to peruse and note hey I like a belgian style beer and they have one or an IPA and so on and so forth. Lots of whiskeys as well. It did get really loud so I would go early if you're looking to chat place was dead when I first walked by early on in the evening and yes it got really loud really fast. I couldn't hear anything when my friend talked to some of his friends next to us, but this is a bar after all. Didn't ask about happy hour specials my guess is once they get their grove going perhaps will have some, they hopefully will as their beer selection as mentioned was great. Tried out a nice christmas ale and a porter. read more

They also have two TVs in the front and two in the back, which I find as a major plus because a lot of bars at least around Shaw don't have any games on. read more

Went here for happy hour last night, and loved this place. Didn't eat, so I can't speak for the food, but the beer is excellent. Great selection of craft beers, including several local breweries. $2 off all drafts before 7:00 during the week. It is a large space, and even at 6:00 wasn't too crowded to get a table or to the bar. This is a great place for beer geeks, but those of you are stuck on light domestic bottles will not like the selection. I suggest you buy a 6er of Bud at the gas station or drink better beer. We wandered in to Lost & Found on a Sunday afternoon. It was delightful! The beer menu is extensive with something for everyone-- from sours to stouts to IPAs. There's lots of cocktails, and a pretty extensive whiskey list. Prices are very reasonable. Service was awesome. The interior is relaxing and warm. There were lots of first dates around us, which was cute, and it's a great environment for that. It was busy enough to not feel alone, but not so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation. There isn't food on the menu (there ARE Swedish Fish!) but you can bring your own in from anywhere, and there are lots of choices nearby. I absolutely see why this place is so popular, and I intend to come back too! read more

A fun, local place with a good drink selection and great ambiance. They don't serve food (except some generic, packaged snacks) but let you bring in anything you want!
