Came here last night while we waited for a reservation at Tiger Fork. Entered through the back door and were greeted by a friendly bartender at the "alley bar" (s/o to Mike!) He let us sample the Groove City beer which was absolutely delicious. A hefeweizen with banana undertones - super yummy and just what I needed to fill my starving stomach. Even though we were only at the bar for 30 minutes or so I definitely dug the atmosphere. Seems more like a dudes bar more than a bar I would come to with girlfriends, but definitely a great spot to kill time before a reservation or to enjoy an after dinner drink! I'll be back! read more

The bar and service were fine. The bouncer is the problem. He made several inappropriate comments to me and my two female friends.

One of my favorite neighborhood bars. The beer list is always on point and they'll allow you to bring food in due to not having a kitchen. They also have two TVs in the front and two in the back, which I find as a major plus because a lot of bars at least around Shaw don't have any games on. read more

We wandered in to Lost & Found on a Sunday afternoon. It was delightful! The beer menu is extensive with something for everyone-- from sours to stouts to IPAs. There's lots of cocktails, and a pretty extensive whiskey list. Prices are very reasonable. Service was awesome. The interior is relaxing and warm. There were lots of first dates around us, which was cute, and it's a great environment for that. It was busy enough to not feel alone, but not so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation. There isn't food on the menu (there ARE Swedish Fish!) but you can bring your own in from anywhere, and there are lots of choices nearby. I absolutely see why this place is so popular, and I intend to come back too! read more

Lost and Found is hands down my favorite bar. The bartenders are all friendly and knowledgeable and their beer list is always well curated and diverse. read more

Great neighborhood bar in Shaw area. You can actually enter through the back entrance on Blagen Alley (insider knowledge). The beers were standard but very reasonably priced. Would be a great place to catch up w/ friends without the hype of 14th street glamour. Will definitely be back! There is also a backroom where you might be able to rent out for birthdays etc... read more

This bar is incapable of handling large groups. The bartenders spent most of their time ignoring customer orders and trying to shoo us out of the bar. The drinks were very watered down and unfortunately this was one of my few bar experiences in DC during my trip. I left after half an hour. Honestly, if you didn't feel like serving our group, you shouldn't have had a bouncer tell us to go in and assure us that it was a very lively night. read more

At first, I was skeptical of this venue. In order to reach the entryway you must first venture into the depths of Blagden Alley through a labyrinth of industrial buildings. On our way we passed a few open garage doors: the first revealed a man smoothing a concrete floor with a gigantic sanding device; the next provided a glimpse of what looked like a storage facility full of junk, lit by a flickering bulb. I began to think about every horror movie I'd ever seen and the ways in which I could escape should the situation sour. However, before I could freak myself out too much we had arrived at Lost and Found. When we turned the corner I felt considerably more at ease as there were hipsters, those bastions of harmlessness, standing outside the venue, their Parliaments dangling limply from their fingers. Lost and Found is a tiny converted industrial space consisting of exposed brick walls and visible ceiling beams. The type of lights I usually associate with professional photo shoots (here using considerably less wattage) have their visible wiring wrapped around the ceiling support, providing illumination of the small bar tangled in Christmas lights and the hodgepodge of furniture reminiscent of your college boyfriend's frat house. The two rooms comprising the establishment are narrow and sparsely populated. The space into which the entrance leads is supposedly the home of many a traveling art installation with its concrete floor and blank walls; all I saw on my visit were bits and pieces of artistic floatsom and jetsom and a few metal folding chairs. I liked the rawness of the rooms and the fact that the bar was BYOB, something I hadn't seen before in DC. The proprietors of this evening's party had hauled in their own DJ equipment and alcohol. They had a few of the first kegs of DC Brau available (which I tried and failed to enjoy as it was very hoppy and I'm more of a dark beer girl) in addition to a sparse collection of liquor. Despite the lack of selection, the most expensive thing on the handmade sign advertising drink was $7. I can get behind that. As for the party itself: I was invited here because the company 88 had just finished coordinating Forward Fest and wanted to have a celebratory fete for the volunteers and employees. For a party planning company, their get-togethers are unimpressive. The DJ was lame and the tiny lowered space at the back of the bar dedicated to dancing was only occupied by five people at a time, most of whom drifted back toward the bar after one or two songs. The exception was a guy who I'm certain was on obscene amounts of molly, shouting, laughing and, I shit you not, at one point licking the wall. Despite the lackluster party, I enjoyed the potential of the space and regretted that my particular experience lacked the correct group of people with which to exploit it. I've been to and enjoyed similar speakeasy-reminiscent places in Richmond basements; I'd like to return here on a night when there's a random shindig going down and not everyone knows one another in advance. read more

I love this bar despite it not serving food and smelling like a bathroom sometimes. They have a ton of beers on tap and serve tiny taster portions. I'm a light drinker so I love this, it lets me drink heavier things like stouts without getting blackout drunk. The place starts to get crowded around 10. Around midnight it's super packed and you have to wait a while to use one of the 2 restrooms. Everyone is super nice tho, bartender and patrons. One time the bartender gave us free lemon bars out of nowhere. Solid guy read more

The owner of the bar was incredibly rude to us on New Years. After paying $80 dollars for entrance into a New Years party, we were grilled for additional money and treated terribly when we tried to explain that we had paid for an open bar. When he finally conceded that we did not have to pay for the drinks, he made my party feel out of line and unwelcome at the establishment. This is the last time that I will be visiting this establishment, despite the previous positive reviews. read more

I read through a few of the reviews too late... Great music... Horrible service. I left a full drink just to avoid the negative vibes. What a dick bartender. read more

Great service and delicious libations. Melissa, the bartender, was friendly and very knowledgeable. Extensive whiskey selection. Old-timey atmosphere. Well worth a visit! read more

I don't typically submit negative reviews on Yelp!--in fact, I have never rated a local business less than 5 stars. However, in this instance, I felt compelled to do so, for the benefit of both the proprietor/management of Lost and Found and the community at large. I previously wrote about my experience a few days ago. I quickly removed the review, thinkingthat I didn't want to make a fuss. Upon reflection though, I realized I had an obligation to share my experience. In my opinion, the fact that the incident remains on my mind is indicative of how traumatic it was. On September 16, 2018, a bit after midnight, a friend and I stopped by Lost & Found for a quick drink (one each). We proceeded to a table near the west entrance, which was empty, except for the presence of a "bouncer" (a stocky, tan man with long dark hair that was pulled back) using one of the stools on the far side. He immediately shouted at us in a threatening tone to not sit at the table. We obliged and did not sit at the table, choosing to stand in the open area next to it instead to enjoy our drinks. While we were conversing, he appeared from my vantage point to stare at us threateningly. Sometime later, when my friend set his beer down momentarily on the table, the same bouncer immediately shouted and gestured violently at us. Startled, I asked him why he was shouting at us. At no point did anyone touch or threaten the bouncer, who was considerably more physically imposing than either of us. If made available, security footage would corroborate this. Evidently, he interpreted that question as justifying grabbing me, pulling me, and then pushing me approximately 10-20 feet out of the establishment, all while I held my hands straight in the air to make it clear I posed no threat and was not resisting. Patrons outside and passerbys were astonished. This bouncer's actions were at a minimum irresponsible and quite likely constitute assault. Despite what you see in movies, bouncers evidently have absolutely no legal right to put their hands on patrons in DC, much less to grab them, pull them, and push them (see, e.g., https://www.jpmlawyer.com/playing-nice-judge-confirms-that-d-c-bouncers-must-keep-their-hands-to-themselves/). In fact, apparently, bouncers have no greater legal authority to put their hands on a patron than any ordinary person has to put their hands on a stranger. In my opinion, this individual's actions potentially demonstrate a complete ignorance of the law, his duty of care, and, quite likely his employer's own rules governing his conduct on the job if such rules exist. There are plenty of fine alternative establishments in the area to have a drink with a friend. Until this situation is remediated, I intend to go elsewhere. As far as I know, Lost & Found continues to employ this individual; however, I will amend and/or supplement this review if I receive updated information about his employment status. read more

Great new spot, good beers, good music. The bartenders were friendly and I never waited for my next drink. The space was open and had two bars, the back bar had a cool glass garage door that will open up in the spring. In the winter it will be great for snow days. For a place that was open for the first day they did a great job. Looking forward to coming here often. read more

Big, beautiful space, 2 huge bars, 3 separate rooms (great for bday parties!) Went on a freezing thursday night so place was a little empty, but ive heard it can get crazy crowded on the weekends. No thanks! Drink prices were comparable for the area, bartenders were OK. Also, the place has a funny smell, but I got used to it! read more

Casual and quirky bar, with a good beer selection and interesting snacks (Swedish fish and Twinkies, among others)! Although more filling snacks would be nice, limited food delivery is also allowed. Despite being a Friday, it wasn't too crowded for our group of 8-10 and the bartenders were good about getting to everyone. read more

This is a solid bar, with an excellent craft beer selection. The service was super friendly and efficient. I shall return!

Met my friends here after a long day of work for happy hour. Was greeted by a bouncer and then there are two large rooms in which you can grab drinks and enjoy from. Both have small/tall tables or just standing room. In the back there's a bit larger tables and honestly I enjoyed that space better. It was a bit more quiet and reserved and didn't get as loud. There are tv's everywhere for you to enjoy along with music. There was a weird smell in the front half of the bar but I have a feeling it was due to something with the bathrooms (the bathrooms are in between each room in the center of the place). I had a simple Gin & Tonic as I can't drink beer and enjoy the variety that they have but I'll certainly want to go back and enjoy again! read more

Well the bouncer is a real dick. I went outside to help a friend and I try to come back in and all he had is sass and like very rude words words not only for me but of me. It was very uncomfortable and I won't come back here again!!! read more

I wanted to love this place since it's in everyone's favorite hidden alley, but was underwhelmed by the vibe since I was looking for something cozier and warmer. The space is large and nice, the service is good, and the beer selection is sufficient. I might go back, but probably wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Randomly discovered this bar while leaving La Columbe nearby. I love back entrance, although it took me a minute to figure out how to get in. Love the atmosphere. A lot bigger inside than expected. Had a great time here, trying beers and shootin' the shit! read more

Looks small from the front, but is huge inside with multiple rooms -- and the bar is already drawing quite a crowd! It's a great place to grab a drink (especially if you are looking for a selection of draft beer). read more

Great food, drinks, prices and staff! If you're stopping by anywhere in the Shaw/Mt Vernon area go here

Much nicer inside than what the records hanging in the window suggest. Large, with a long bar and great brick and wood details inside. They have lots of good beers on tap too and the service was friendly. read more

Only giving two stars because it took me a while to locate this establishment. Good beers and friendly staff.

Come for the great beer, stay for the awesome decor. The walls of this place are like a flea market gone wild, in a good way. You're guaranteed to be entertained as you look around the room while your Tinder date bores you with stories about her trip to India. And after a few of the potent beers on tap, you won't even care what she's talking about. read more

I recently hosted a goodbye party here and our group of 30 had a GREAT time! The bar is full of awesome old records and license plates and all kinds of old knick knacks, the cocktails were delicious, the beer selection is superb, and the service is top notch. As soon as I walked in the front area was reserved for us and we were able to bring in our own food for our guests. The guest of honor wanted a fun laid back and different venue than your run of the mill DC bar and this fit the bill perfectly. Also, many many points for the James Brown among other funk hits playing. We will be back! read more

Honestly, this is my favorite bar in all of DC. Unlike some of the other Shaw bars, there is PLENTY of space for you and your friends to get a table or a couple of chairs at the bar. The beer list is extensive and diverse, with new beers added every month or so. They don't serve food (besides snacks like chips and candy), but they allow you to bring in outside food, which is such an advantage when you've got some of the best restaurants in DC within a 5 min walk. They also have trivia on Monday nights which is the perfect level of difficult without being too challenging. Although the prizes are not great and there is a limit to the team number (6), why not hang out at the best bar in DC with your friends and try your hand? I seriously would end every night out here if I could, this bar is awesome. read more

This is a really cool, very hipster bar. I was drawn in because of the license plates outside of the bar. On a Saturday night it was very packed, loud and difficult to find a seat. Once we did it was worth it. They have an expansive, well done menu. I was a huge fan of their beer selection, especially that they had Wicked Weed on tap the night I was there. The cocktails were super well done also. I particularly enjoyed the Crafty Mule. I spied someone having a sparkling bees knees which also looked incredible. Great bar! read more

My new favorite bar! It has a cool rock and roll atmosphere with vinyl records on the walls and plenty of tables for seating. It also has my favorite cocktail the Bees' Knees. It doesn't get too crowded even on a Friday night when I was there. Really nice down to earth people. Not too many crazy frat boy types! read more

Suprising that this place has only 100 reviews. Considering this place is always packed at happy hour weekday and weekend. Good collection of draft beer and ciders. Definitely a place to go for a drink after work. read more

Lost & Found offers a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere and a *great* beer list with no stupid gimmicks. The owners clearly take their beer menu seriously and it shows- they're excellent at finding great beers from around the country and rotating them through the taps constantly. You can walk into Lost & Found any day of the week and try something new. The entire staff, from the bartenders on down are friendly and engaging and knowledgeable about what they serve. This is a great neighborhood spot, plain and simple. read more

been there once. it was nice Second time I was on my bike and forgot my lock. I was with a group of people. First round on me. I asked the doorman / bouncer if I can bring my bike in. He didn't acknowledge me. he was on the phone talking and I think he said no to me. I asked again and again NOTHING and so I left. Ill go spend my money at another bar. Lost & Found doesn't need me nor my money read more

Newish bar in Shaw. Liked, but did not love it. Packed on a Saturday night. Meant to have a divey feel. Large space. Blagden alley cocktail was a bit tart for my taste. Bartenders were very friendly :) read more

Old friends and I wanted to meet up after a few years apart and they decided this place would be great! Well, I didn't even get to try any of the drinks since the bouncer didn't identify himself and as a consequence tried accusing me of trying to sneak in. I'm 21 and showed him my ID, where he kept trying to cause a scene and humiliate me. Decided it would be best if I just left. Would not recommend unless you like getting harassed. read more

Unique beers on draft. Really cool bar. A little off the beaten path but worth the walk.

You can order Cheetos - nuff said! It's a nice, casual bar and actually quite spacious. There is a bar both in the front and back. There was also outside seating out back, but unfortunately it was too cold (and snowy) the night we were there for it to be open. read more

Walking by this place earlier in the evening, I was immediately drawn to what looked like a little hole-in-the-wall bar. We were on our way to meet friends who just moved to this area; I was in luck when they brought us here after dinner! We had a broad array of drinks--all fabulous. Two Bulleit Ryes for me, different fun beers for someone else, some martinis, and some other items on the rocks. A cool vibe with chill bartenders. Oh, and the music was on point; appreciated the Silversun Pickups and Band of Horses. Will need to come back when there's live music! read more

Meh. A little divey neighborhood bar. Nothing to write home about for sure. Once they turned on some music I did dig the little playlist they had going. We stumbled in because apparently most of the restaurants in the area shut down between 3-5pm after brunch. We'd just finished brunch nearby and wanted to keep hanging. A big con of this place was that they don't have any food. Literally the appetizer/"snack" menu is cheetos, rice krispie treats and gold fish. They lost major cool points with me for that! read more

Cozy and dark-just the way I like it.
