I am normally a fan of Lost & Found and have even hosted my birthday here in years past. This last weekend I witnessed a very rude staff member checking IDs. Apparently, there was a baby shower taking place in the back room and a gentleman arrived with his children for it. The guy checking IDs wouldn't let him in and told him he couldn't even go to the room to let what I assume was his wife know that he couldn't join. The reason he wasn't let in was his children, but there were tons of children in the back room and he was there for that event. Additionally, I then went to give him my ID and he aggressively stated that no children were allowed... I was there alone and over 21 so no idea why he felt like he needed to let me know. Overall, I normally enjoy the bar, but the security or door staff could be improved. read more

Stellar happy hour deals! Only lasts till 7 but the reasonably priced drinks and laid back atmosphere are worth it. I was surprised to find wines on the menu. The bartenders are very friendly and helpful with selection. I learned that although they do not technically serve food, bar snacks (beef jerky and chips) are available for purchase. I should be infuriated with but i rather call her out. Not sure what her name is but she was inappropriate from the beginning. I love whiskey but I didn't appreciate being disrespected . Lost & Found doesn't feel like a swank D.C. bar...it's just a pub, with good beer, and an attractive barkeep. My mate from Leeds and I both find ourselves in DC for a season or two, and among the very first comforts to quickly sort out, a good pub is surely one. He suggested Lost & Found. Upon approach, I was skeptical; as there was a que of hipsters spilling onto the sidewalk. Fortunately, these lines were for adjacent establishments. I walked into a much more unassuming bar with records on the walls (i f*^$#ng love records), and a beer list of mostly local not-overly-crafty beers. Get in. The overall vibe of this bar is really great--except for their unnecessarily aggressive door staff. On two separate occasions, I've witnessed them yell at patrons who've merely inquired about when last call was. Most recently, on a crowded Friday night, a friend I was with saw an open high top chair sitting against the wall alone and retrieved it to bring to our table. Apparently it belonged to the bouncer, who was out front talking to a friend (we came in through the back/blagden alley entrance). When the bouncer came in to see his missing chair, he yelled at my friend with an intensity that brought everyone's conversations in the vicinity to a halt. She was really shaken up and returned the chair as the bouncer proceeded to chuckle with his friend over the scene he had created. I asked him why he responded that way and he just ignored me. Other patrons who witnessed it came over to see if she was okay. I can't emphasize enough how dramatic of a scene it was that he created. Pretty upsetting and utterly unnecessary sequence of events that will ruin the night over an honest mistake. read more

Arrived here on a whim and was greeted with a free croissant. Score! This is an easy-going and cool bar space with LP records hanging in the window. From first glance, I thought that this was a music store (like everyone else). They do host live music from time to time, which is great. On the day that I went, we were graced by the tunes of a folksy local guitarist. The bar stretches into two separate room spaces; you'll never feel cramped here, thank goodness. There's also a nice selection of beers on tap; check out their extensive drink menu. The bartender was also very friendly. As the name suggests, this bar is a nice hideaway on 9th street. It is dimly lit with a large bar and plenty of high top tables. They also have a back room if the front of the bar gets crowded. Lost and Found has a solid beer and whiskey selection, service was quick and friendly, and prices were reasonable. Really cool spot. The beer list is varied and ever-changing, which I love. My most recent vist I had an obsidian stout and clown shoes pecan pie stout. They offer two different vibes: the front has tables, a bar with stools, and is covered in knick knacks, especially license plates. The back has a second bar with a more chill vibe, looks like it opens up in warm weather to get a patio type feel. Not bad. Bonus points because they offer $2 for a giant bag of swedish fish and plenty of other old favorites, e.g. hostess treats. Tasted like nostalgia. read more

One of the better undiscovered bars in DC. They have good music playing with a nice decorative wall of vinyl records when you walk in. The bar serves up good local and regional beers along with some dignified mixed drinks, specifically the old fashioned. This place is good for meeting up with a friend or for a relaxing date. Good bar. Good service. Good vibe. Nothing fancy. I like this place because it just provides some good drinks in a industrial type old shop-turned bar setting . There's some antique looking wares and signs and license plates as decor. The bar was pretty packed but I still was able to get the bartender's attention for drinks. I visited Lost & Found probably once a month or so pre- COVid and now it's my go-to bar. Best set up I've seen - heaters are strong, the alley is cozy, the staff is the same - conscientious and helpful - and great beer selection for DC. Prices are definitely higher, but so worth it to have a place with reservations for a great, covered, back patio! Parking is relatively easy now (not the case before). Hidden bar on 9th street. We walked past this bar a few times as the sign is not clearly visible from the front entrance. Great vibe with trendy decorations. When we came here before Christmas, they had a ton of Christmas decorations up. It reminds me of a dive bar. They have a variety of beers on tap and service is prompt. It wasn't super popular then, like it is now. Now, it's crazy crowded, which is good for them, but the crowd isn't my scene, and there's nothing super appealing about this place, except maybe the location. Some of the specialty cocktails are weak, and while I like some of their wines, it's just not the place for me. I've never found staff to be all that friendly, either. This is a bar for drinking and not eating. They currently only have snack foods on the menu. I did see a few people bring in food to eat dinner while they drank and the bartenders didn't seem to care. But who needs food when they have delicious cocktails and a wide variety of beer? Did I mention there are two different bars? The record entrance is on 9th and then there is another one on an alley in the back. The music they played while we there was perfect for happy hour. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place! It looked pretty dead from the street but we poked our heads in and the host showed us the seating in the back alley. They have the best ambiance going on out there. They had a couple of tents with tall tables spaced appropriately apart and had many standing heaters that kept us warm. We got a couple beers and the spiced apple cider as well as the eggplant dip (all amazing!). We asked the waiter for extra focaccia after we finished our first bit and he brought us 2 more at no charge! I will warn you that there is pretty much no food at this place--just small snacks--but for drinks and ambiance I highly recommend and will def be back! read more

Honestly, I loved this bar before last night. Big space, very chill. However, like previous reviewers have mentioned, absolutely awful management and bouncers, and I won't be coming back. Was here to celebrate the end of grad school with a large group of friends. After accepting payment for 8 drinks, the blond female bartender was refusing to serve them because one of my friends sat at an empty seat at the back bar that was supposedly "reserved", even though there were several open seats and no signage to indicate that. The bouncer then pushed my friend out of the stool and proceeded to shove him out of the bar. The bouncer was threatening to fight and he was also very aggressive toward female patrons who were trying to intervene. At this time a few more of my friends attempted to intervene and were also kicked out at the same time. Several of them left personal belongings inside the bar and were not allowed back to retrieve them. Meanwhile a second bouncer came to "help" and switched places with the first one. After watching all of this happen, I asked the bouncer what happened, to which he answered that he didn't know. I insisted that he try to find out because honestly a bouncer's only job is to know what's going on, and we were a large group that got separated because of this incident. The second bouncer then became very aggressive with me, yanked my unfinished beer out of my hands, PUSHED me, and I proceeded to get kicked out of a bar for the first time in my life. So thank you, Lost and Found, for providing a truly unforgettable night. What was supposed to be a happy celebration ended up becoming a complete debacle because of your rude and incompetent staff. There were several ways to handle the situation peacefully but your staff chose to take our money then refuse to provide fair or good service. I will never come back and do not recommend this bar to anyone. read more

I really like their crafty mule and beer. They have other drinks I never had a change to try but I definitely will be coming soon . What a disappointment! Went in properly masked and the bouncer instead of carding us, illegally demanded our medical records - something the federal government cannot do per the Health Insurance and Accountability Act (HIPA). The place was practically empty as a result. So we promptly left and visited three other establishments in the area who did not insist on violating our rights. Though this spot is a little hard to find on first glance from the outside, its entrance definitely doesn't reflect the rustic interior, complete with lots of wood and dark lighting. I was here for a coworker's goodbye, and there's a nice raised area by the first bar that's separate from the front dining/sitting area and works well for this purpose if you're not interested in reserving the back room. Their happy hour prices are competitive with anywhere in DC, and I was pleasantly surprised to find my $5 Pinot Grigio was delicious. But what my friends said they appreciate here is the beer list, and I don't blame them--coming from a self professed beer hater, that means a lot! I took a sip of stout as a challenge and I was amazed at how much I loved it. Couldn't tell you the name but I believe its the only stout on the menu, and it was a wonderful mix of chocolate-ly and espresso-y that hit all the right notes. Lost and Found may have just converted me. In sum: good prices, even better drinks, clean bathrooms, and the bartenders are friendly and funny too! Lost & Found does what it sets out to do well, and doesn't pretend to be anything else (like "trendy.") There was no wow factor though, hence my four stars rather than five. read more

I really enjoyed this bar. It's much bigger on the inside than the outside and has a very down to earth feel on the inside. I was very impressed with the bartenders who were friendly and professional in a bartender kind of way. My friends and I were here on a Saturday night, we were sitting on a table top outside right next to the garbage, we understand that we are all doing the best we can with Covid. But we saw a few table tops open up and moved to avoid the smell of the garbage, the owner quickly came over infuriated and told us to leave for making the switch. I love Lost & Found. Simply put, it's my favorite bar in DC. The beer selection rotates often, and is usually excellent. They've almost always got a great mix of hops and yeast, and they rely largely on local-ish brewers. They've usually got at least one sour on tap, which is wonderful. The service is good and friendly. It sort of depends on the bartender, but on the whole I've had great service, with a few exceptions. The atmosphere is also quite nice. It's cozy - a step above a dive (it's clean, for example), but not presumptuous. read more

This bar is going to attract quite the following (read: as Nisht G. correctly predicted, the Passenger's old crowd has migrated to Lost and Found). I didn't get an opportunity to sample from the bourbon/rye whiskey list, but the breadth of selections is on par with a place like Boundary Stone, but not as lengthy as Jack Rose, Southern Efficiency or Barrel. I wouldn't necessarily label it a bourbon/rye whiskey bar, but you get a sufficient amount of choice. The draft beer list runs about fifteen deep and is very well organized (type, percentage, description, etc) in a fashion similar to that used at Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights. Moreover, the selection serves eclectic tastes (for example, the Lonerider Pistols at Dawn had heavy sweet chocolate notes) as well as more standard ones (well-established craft breweries such as New Belgium and Bell's also have a respective selection on the current beer menu). All of that is fine, but what makes this place is the atmosphere. The outdoor signage is pretty nondescript (in fact, I don't even remember if I saw a sign outside of the placard on the sidewalk advertising specials), but inside you are treated to a virtual potpurri of vintage memorabilia. Old records and license plates span the bar, but unlike other places with this motif, nothing is cluttered. The resulting vibe is a comfortable yet clean dive bar. Not surprisingly, this appeals to a wide array of customers, and I'm quite sure the bar doubles as a wonderful singles scene. Don't have a date for Valentine's Day? I'd wager that love lost can likely be found at this bar. Overall, I think this is a wonderful addition to the highly underrated Blagden Alley scene. Highly recommended for neighborhood locals. If you live elsewhere in DC, it's certainly worth a look. read more
