Pesce Fritto
Alex C.

I have to say, we have been driving past this place for years. This time we decided to take a chance and stop. I was at first hesitant because I didn't see any cars in the parking lot. Man am I glad I got over my hesitance. It's a small place nothing fancy or over done. Friendly service, super clean and homey. The food! It is so delicious! You would think because of the name that it's an Italian Mexican fusion but it's just Italian in the most satisfying way. We had a slice of margherita pizza, my husband and I shared the los olivos salad and he has the pesce fritto so delicious. He just had to order the mussels, they came in a steaming pot filled with delicious garlic butter and the softest bread to sop up the garlic butter. I can't say enough about this place.

Seafood Cioppino

The exterior look of the place in no way matches the delicious food that came out of the kitchen. We had heard about this place from a friend and when I pulled up, I almost backed up and what to another nearby restaurant instead. But you should never judge a book by its cover right? And the recommendation came from a friend with a great palate so I forged on. I am so glad I did! This place was magnificent. After the first couple of bites I was already planning what I would try on my next visit. We had the Polpo Special Salad, Shrimp al Olivo and Seafood Cioppino. Having been to Italy, this is the kind of Italian food I love! Not the overly garlic laden, cheese loaded monstrosities that Italian food has turned into in the US, but simple yet flavorful food that is not heavy and perfectly portioned. The Polpo Greca Special salad was amazing! I wish it would stay available for a return visit. The prices of Octopus were generous and cooked perfectly to retain a great chew and sweetness. Served with red onion, tomato, cucumber, Kalamata olives, basil, avocado, feta cheese, a breadstick and a delicious lemon and olive oil dressing. It was so simple and flavorful that it instantly took me back to a little cafe off the coast of Capri. Great start to a great meal. The Shrimp al Olivo was equally simplistic and amazing. A tomato sauce evenly flavored with garlic, green olives, white wine and basil. The perfect example of less is more. All of the flavors incorporated seamlessly. The Seafood Cioppino was almost the same dish but with fish, mussels and clams added. The plates weren't huge portions but satisfying. I actually would order concentrated flavor and presentation then a lot of food for not a lot of quality. We found out they make house made panettone and the pizzas looked amazing. We will be back soon to try both and maybe have a few Peronis for good measure. If you heavy been, make a point to try out this local gen.

Lunch spacial $10.95!! -slice of pizza, salad & drink! Amazing crispy pizza. The salad has a mediterranean taste. The slice of pizza is larger than I thought! It's delicious. Indoor & outdoor sitting.

Absolutely delicious! It's a small hole in the wall place, order at the counter and they bring it to you. I had the pan fried whitefish with capers, tomatoes and fresh lemon. Husband had spaghetti and meatballs. Both came with the BEST garlic bread. We split a Los Olivia salad with an oregano vinaigrette dressing that was so good. I can't wait to go back!

This place is unassuming. A little neighborhood place on the side of the street. Anyone knows that the small tucked away places tend to be among the best. This place doesn't disappoint. Theres a great tasting selection of appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, calzones, salads, pasta dishes. They even have a selection of beverages including wine and beer. Two pizza sizes 14" and 18". Really can go here and always find something to enjoy. All the dishes are great tasting. In the past I've had the pizzas. Every one I've ever tried has been quite tasty. On this occasion I had the meat ball sandwich and my friend had the calzone. The sandwich was perfect. Hit the spot with nice meatballs in a great marinara sauce perfectly topped with cheese on a great roll that was neither hard nor soft. It held up perfectly and was a pleasure to eat. The calzone was a decent size. Filled with sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella and ricotta. Looked amazing when they cut into it. I was told it was creamy, nicely flavored. One of the better calzones my friend has ever eaten. It disappeared quite fast so I believe it. Both the meatball sandwich and the calzone came with a side salad. If you decide to try this little place out, there is a small enclosed patio in which you can enjoy your meal or you can do take out like we did. Either way you can be assured of having a very satisfying meal at a reasonable price.

Pizza was delicious. Brought four kiddos, who typically don't eat the crust, and they cleared their plates. We opted for a whole pie, but they have options for by the slice purchases. Lots of other options if you're not up for pizza, but wanting Italian cuisine. Staff was also friendly and would check up on us from time to time to see if we were doing OK.

Chicken and Ricotta Pizza

Dang! Their pizzas are light and aromatic with just the right amount of sauce. Good choices of ingredients if you want to build your own. The chicken ricotta hit the spot for me! I went the take out pizza option but they have some indoor and outdoor seating. ! Hardest part was driving home without tearing into the pizza.

Parking is in the back and seemed pretty crowded even though I visited during an "off" time -- around 2pm -- for lunch. Still, I eventually found a spot and didn't have to walk too far. The inside of the shop is nothing fancy: order at the window and pick up when your name is called. There are a few 2-person tables inside by the order window and some outdoor tables. There may be some tables in the front, but I didn't make it up there. I had the full-szed Badger as it comes standard (Steak, Pepper Jack, Grilled Onion, Grilled Mushroom, Grilled Pepper, Grilled Jalapeño, Lettuce, Pickles, Chipotle Ranch, Garlic Spread) on Ciabatta bread. Even though I thought I was hungry, it was a LOT of sandwich and I could have been fine with the half. The place was empty save for two other people waiting on orders and they departed quickly upon receiving their sandwiches. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful while I decided what I wanted to order and offered some suggestions. I sat at one of the small tables and enjoyed my hot, fresh sandwich: the sandwich was both temperature hot and spicy hot, thanks to the really nice jalapeños! I'l definitely come back!

Folks behind the counter are very friendly. The only thing I noticed is they seem to struggle with a really clunky point of sale system. There were many looks and gasps of bewilderment from the two folks trying to ring up orders. This significantly slowed down the long line. They have weird policies around adding chicken to the Bobbi salad. It literally makes no sense to charge $3.50 to add chicken to that salad when it costs $2.99 to add it to any other salad. It's the same amount of chicken, according to the folks behind the counter, but they have to do what the clunky point of sale system tells them to do. Otherwise the food is good and it's a decent spot to grab a note to eat. I recommend the bullrider wrap. Don't add chicken to your Bobbi salad. Mayhem.

This place is located in an artsy / entertainment district close to downtown. When we went, there was road construction nearby that made getting here more challenging. Once we located it, the next challenge was parking. We visited around noon on a Saturday. There are no large parking lots, so you have to find something on-street. We ventured a couple of blocks off the main street and found something. However, the signage wasn't really clear on whether you had to pay on weekends or not. We accessed the parking app via a QR code, but it told us that our space 'was not available', despite the fact that we were in the space. A guy leaving the space next to us confirmed that parking *was* free on weekends, so we trusted that and walked to the restaurant. In retrospect, I think the app meant that we did not need to pay, but 'not available' seems a bit vague for that... The restaurant is located on a strip of old storefronts that now house restaurants, record shops, etc. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic out front, including a homeless guy asking for change. The atmosphere was sort of a loud, slightly cramped dive bar. I don't mean that in a bad way, but that was the vibe. The music was loud - none of it was familiar but I didn't hate it. I guess my point is that if you are looking for a quiet spot for lunch, this is probably not it. We initially were offered a table on their covered patio. We left one person there while sorting out parking, but when we came back they had a booth inside so we grabbed that instead. The patio seemed shaded and semi-comfortable, other than a loud barking dog. We browsed the menus and ordered our food. We all got half-and-half combos (soup/salad or sandwich/soup). The only issue was that the soups came in a bread bowl. I was able to finish my soup, but felt bad about not eating more of the bowl. If I'd had the option, I would have gotten a plastic bowl. The salad was pretty big, despite being only half. I finished most of it. We ended up having sufficient leftovers from others such that we took them back to our hotel (a relatively short drive) and finished them the next evening. All the food was tasty. This wasn't what I was expecting, but I'd consider eating here again given the right circumstances / group.

When first entering it's a very small booths and bar but if you continue down the hall past the bathrooms they have a big open outside/indoor patio seating area! Great if you have kids or pets with you So the food. Honestly some of the best sandwiches I've ever had Their combo with the bread bowl and half a sandwich is hard to beat to be honest. A little bit of both worlds there I recommend eating the bread bowl first because it's more filling that you think and you can take the sandwich home They have a wide range of options for everyone And even offer a picky kid friendly sandwiches like PB & J, might sound boring or normal but that was the best PB & J I've ever had The staff is very nice and helpful They run the bar also and will bounce between the bar and your table So if the bar is busy I'm sure it could take a bit for you to order at your table Great food Great environment And friendly people Highly recommended!

I ordered the impala with 2 patties and tried the Tucson beefsteak too. Food: (3.5/5) The impala burger comes with 1 patty normally but I added another for $6.95. The patties were apparently made of 70/30 grass-fed ground beef with shiitake mushrooms. They were very juicy, tender, and flavorful. These patties were also cooked perfectly with crispy edges and a juicy center. The impala burger also came with bbq sauce and crispy onions. Besides the patty, the rest of the burger was pretty standard. However, the fries were horrible. They came lukewarm while the burger was served hot, and the fries had no texture. They were soggy and chewy, like frozen fries that were microwaved for 15 seconds. The Tucson beefsteak was quite nice, and the meat was juicy and the dip it came with made it even more juicy. The mini chimis banderas were very mediocre. They had a severe lack of flavor. It just tasted like fried dough. Service: (N/A) The restaurant is mostly self serve except that they bring you the food. This means you get up and get the water and place the order yourself. They also don't charge gratuity or tip. Ambiance: (5/5) The interior was decorated and music was playing. The place just has a nice vibe to it. When I came, it wasn't very busy or loud. Overall I would recommend this place for the vibe and because the burger patties are so good and the Tucson beefsteak is so juicy, but just be aware that the fries can be pretty bad.

Upon arrival there was one bag ready to go with receipt stapled to the outside. I just saw the total price in the largest print and it was exactly right. I decided to just sit down for 5 minutes and enjoy the sandwich fresh since I had requested that it be toasted (they will now toast any sandwich - a game changer!) But the sandwich I opened was cold. I went back and said, hey, I'm super easy going, I was just wondering if you guys could still toast this? Fernando came over and was super apologetic. He then asked to see the receipt to troubleshoot the oversight and, lo and behold, different name, not the bootlegger, and not toasted. Wrong Bag! He promptly had my sandwich made (which apparently never came through on the app). At the same time the person whose bag I had paid for called in and said he had ordered his sub to the wrong location! Fernando was terrific about fixing everything. And, yes, the bootlegger toasted (with added crispy onions and cucumbers and no mayo) was ready lightening fast and terrific. The venue is hard to park at but the tables are typically clean and the fountain drinks are easy to access.
