In town visiting my family I'm currently helping my dad plan his 80th Birthday party which will be in September . Los Cuates Restaurant offers a large space to celebrate any occasion or you could even rent out the whole restaurant which is what we are going to do in September. I have been in contact and working the details out with Irma she has been very helpful with organizing everything for the special day! We can not wait !! We came to have lunch here since I was in town and it was all party talk and organizing. The prices are very reasonable and the portions sizes WOW massive ! The waiter gave us our complementary chips and salsa the table salsa was very tasty . All the food was very delicious with authentic flavors. My mom order the Mole Chicken Enchiladas which I had to take a bite of it and the mole is just amazing. My dad ordered the Quesabirria tacos they are 3 huge tacos with the consomé to dip them in. ordered the Al pastor quesadilla it comes with two salsas, avocado, sour cream, and pico de gallo on the plate . They also have a kids menu. We ordered my nephew, a cheeseburger and fries. Our waiter that helped us that day was Valeria she was super friendly and attentive. Everyone had a smile on their faces it was a great vibe . They had Mexican music playing in the background, not too loud just perfect for a conversation with family and friends . We were here during happy hour which is $7 for cocktails and $3 beers. We ordered the Paloma and the margarita HH each were $7 normally $12 we also got the Mega Mimosa which is $35 it's a whole bottle of champagne with the juice of your liking. We shared that ! It's big lol . By the bar area I seen a display of the Margarita Flight and the Aguas Locas Flight the Agua Locas are Mexican agua frescas with alcohol. Both seem to be $35 dollars. Los Cuates' all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet has returned, offering a variety of Mexican dishes. The flavors were generally good, and the spice levels were satisfying. Choose from enchiladas, chile verde, pozole, chilaquiles, flautas, pupusas, barbacoa, mole de pollo, carnitas, camarones, menudo, rice beans, and tortillas. The "chicken mole" was disappointing, with tasteless chicken legs in a brown liquid. Some operational issues remain, such as kitchen inconsistency when hot dishes were still being prepared after the 11:00am opening. Fresh salad greens and a good selection of desserts were available on a separate table. Churros were tasty but not warm. A small table had unlimited chips and salsa. Friendly service and timely plate clearing were noted. The adult price ($25) disappointingly doesn't include a basic beverage like coffee or soda. First off they opened up an hr late and canceled our order twice. We ordered a Super breakfast burrito and it didn't have any of the ingredients that was advertised. We got NO cheese, no egg, no bacon or ham, it was 80% rice (not on the ingredient list at all) a few tiny pieces of potato and a light dusting of chorizo. Remember this is the Super. We called and they told us their cook didn't fallow the recipe and they could do nothing about it. Too bad because it WAS good in the past. read more

Came here for Father's Day and it was busy. The food overall was pretty good. We ordered many different dishes. I ordered the chicken fajitas. They were tasty however, I feel that chicken breast would have been better than them using thigh meat(see picture for reference). When we walked in after waiting for sometime they seated us, we sat there and waited and waited and waited for more than 30 mins no one came and acknowledged us, not even at the point of taking our order water or drinks. The first time visiting, my wife and I were in the area looking for something to eat, and we stumbled upon this spot and decided to try it out. The service was amazing. We got seated immediately, and our server took excellent care of us. There were a lot of options on the menu, but we went with the burrito and the chilaquiles, and the food was 10/10! Such a scam when it comes to renting for events .. buffet style for 50 people until 6pm is what my Tia paid for her 60th birthday , come to find out they only made enough food for about 25/30 and the smallest portions which means it was probably enough for about 15 normal size plates , party started at 3:30 food was completely gone and kitchen lights off by 4:30! Provided us with only plastic spoons , no forks and overcharged guests for alchohol , they had to have made a killing off how much alcohol was bought ! So disappointed my Tia had to pay for this ! I have never been to this restaurant before but it is nice, so are the bathrooms. I came here for my Tia Abuela's surprise birthday party! It was very lovely, everyone had fun. Amazing decorations, I loved it. The horchata was delicious! I'm a big horchata lover and it was good. The food was great. The workers here are nice. I was in a mood for pupusas and didn't find many places that had both flautas (son's craving) & pupusas in Gilroy. My son also enjoyed the flautas, but they are not big as I thought-more like taquito size with all the great fixings. The pupusas were also good but not as soft as I'm used to. It seemed almost a bit over-fried. It comes with 2 for a great deal. It may be my mistake though bc I've never had a chicharron pupusa and may have gotten confused when it offered the option of cheese, chicharron, or mix. I selected "mix" thinking I would get 1 of each. They have a great selection on their menu, albeit prices might be a bit higher on certain items, but I'm not sure if it was just bc it was DoorDash. It's been about a week since this place has opened. I came on their first Saturday and it seems as if they need time to handle a busy dinner rush. At about 6pm there was almost no food out in the trays. The sodas and agua frescas we're running low and people starting lining out the door. It would take a good 15 minutes for a tray of food to come out. The food is decent. I really recommend the sopes and gorditas. You need to wait a bit but it's worth it and better than most stuff they got out. It's not a full on "mexican buffet" they have about 50% "Mexican" foods and 50% regular buffet foods (fried chicken, pasta, chicken nuggets, etc) It would be really cool if they had churros or Pan dulce for dessert. This place can improve for sure. They need time to calculate how much food to make for busy weekends and holidays. read more
