Possibly our favorite sit down Mexican food place and with $5 margaritas...Count me in!!!

The first review is more positive than my second one: I was impressed by this place! The service was good. The shrimp cocktails were absolutely delicious! The best I've had in the greater LA area! This from a huge coctel de camarones enthusiast! The shrimp were deveined!! That's a huge plus. I don't know why some Marisco places don't, it's so gross! It was served in a bowl. Much better than having it served in a cocktail cup that's not too convenient for digging through with a spoon. I definitely will be back for their shrimp cocktail and would actually go out of my way for it. The service staff was super friendly. I had a drink at the bar while awaiting to be seated (20-25 min). The parking was packed. That was the only negative. So, I came back and found some inconsistencies to my dismay. It turns out they DO NOT devein their shrimp. We ordered the same thing, shrimp coctel, and the shrimp came undeveined. I remember the first time we came, we asked up front if indeed they deveined their shrimp. They, being sensitive to our concern, took precautions to devein the shrimp after they were cooked. In fact, all they seemed to do is split open the top of the shrimp as any deveined shrimp would be. They count on the fact that the particular shrimp they use have a clean and clear digestive track as opposed to one that looks like a little black line running through the body of the shrimp. So when they split the top, it looks like they've cleared the digestive tract, but it's actually still there unremoved. I felt they were disingenuous about this considering that they told me this was their practice and not just by request. When I came and ordered the same without expressing any concern about the shrimp being deveined, they showed their true colors and brought me what is their standard practice all along and that is to sell undeveined shrimp! In all fairness, the shrimp had a clean digestive tract as opposed to a black line, but nevertheless they were still undeveined.. The reason it's a concern is that deveining shrimp is standard practice at most places with Mexican restaurants being the exception. I can only imagine that places don't devein their shrimp do so because it is time and labor intensive. But when a place takes gross shortcuts in regards to food handling practices, it makes me wonder what other shortcuts they take. I will not be back. read more

I fell in love with the drinks and food here. BUT, what killed my whole experience here was the hostess. Cynthia was her name from the start when she walked us to our table she had this "I HATE MY JOB" face. She practically threw the menus on our table. Staff could be trained to be more friendly but overall GREAT place to eat and have some drinks. read more

This place is great! Each time we have been here, we were seated immediately and the service has been friendly and very attentive. Not to mention the food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions. Amazing Carne Asada, Chilaquiles, Burritos and Nachos, and delicious salsa and chips. The seating area is clean, well kept, and comfortable. They also have large televisions playing sports games, if you're interested. :) read more

The atmosphere is nice, went on a first date here. The service is amazing and attentive. I probably definetly got some browny point becuase it was not your average mexican food joint but if your looking for tasty food this is not really the place. Food is average i would say, its just okay to eat. Bland flavor i suppose. My date got a it was rice, beans, meat, cilantro, hot sauce. Idk whats super about that. On the side comes avocado and sour cream. I dont think she enjoyed it though due to picking at it. I got Ceviche which was kinda bland, definetly had better. Presentation for both was nice though so i guess it deoends on what you want. read more

Mexican food that is ALWAYS worth the wait. It's pretty rare when you have to wait less than 30 minutes here, but even if it's an hour, I'll wait. They have a really great happy hour, the service isn't bad, and the food is always delicious. read more

I'm not fond of chain restaurants but this place is absolutely amazing!! This isn't washed down Mexican food, this is 100% authentic and although it is a little pricey it is totally worth it. I highly recommend the queso fundido for an appetizer. I usually get the chicken mole enchiladas or camarones costa azul. Also you can't come here and NOT have their well known Michelada. I order it with Modelo Especial. Mmmmm... read more

Food is very good and they serve some pretty good cocktails. Gave 4 stars because they forgot the carne asada inside the quesadilla.

Excellent food. Just like they serve in the restaurant. There drive thru pickup was fast and easy. Excellent service

I like this place! My first time going but I got a feeling Im gonna be back. Great food at a reasonable price and they aint shy with the alcohol! No watered down Ritas in this camp! My only complaint is that they need more T.V.s and this would be a great place to catch a game! They got a full bar area, AND a Family friendly resturaunt area! read more

Good drinks, alcohol menu needs more drinks, waiting period is not too long, it's come first serve, family friendly, big restaurant and nice bar, friendly bartenders. Food so far it's good, server is not so food at getting orders right. Trying out the votama shrimp and octopus with fresh corn tortillas. read more

This is by far the best Mexican food place I've tried. Recommended by friends. I love it. Fresh handmade tortillas. Margaritas are awesome. Great attentive, friendly fast service. Prices are reasonable. Food is authentic. I like how their bar is away from the eating area which makes it family friendly. Dim calm atmosphere. Not expensive for the wallet. Totally love it! read more

Delicious ceviche, cold beer, yummy margaritas. My favorite thing about this place is the service. Everyone is so friendly! None of that cute-but-b*tchy-attitude that you get from waitresses many places in LA. Love it! read more

Los Compadres - Fish ceviche - Mexican Near Me - Norwalk, California

The food is great , the drinks are great .. BUT some of the waitresses are really rude ... especially a waitress not sure if she's a supervisor or manager because she wears a color shirt different from the others .Name tag said Mia ...it's pretty sad how places with great food can be affected by their staff's poor service. read more

Food is the bomb here..ive tried many places here in norwalk and downey.i found home away from home!

Food is really good, Micheladas are bomb. All their drinks are actually really good . I enjoy seafood and they have some good camarones and ceviche too. Asada Plate is delicious read more

Nice size restaurant. Lovely dining area with high ceiling. Great food. Good drinks. Great service. Would definitely go back to any of their locations. read more

I bought some food from them yesterday they were offering curb side pick up. My only concern is that, they overcharged me almost ten dollars. I don't like being petty but during these tuff times a dollars a dollar. I get instant text messages when ever my card is swiped or used. The receipt the girl showed me looked right but what they charged was something else. They where supposed to get back to me regarding this but never did. Anyway just keep an eye on your transactions. Other than that the food was decent. read more

Enchiladas are so delicious! They use all white meat chicken and the ranchera sauce they top it with is so tasty! Crispy chips and salsa are brought to your table with a welcoming smile! So happy I found this place! read more

Great food and an even better value. Stopped here randomly on the way back to SD. The reviews impressed us and they are well-deserved. Generous portions. Handmade corn tortillas, friendly staff. If I lived here I'd definitely return! read more

I love this restaurant and I'm sure i'm not the only one. Base on Yelpers advise we had the queso fundido which was amazing. I had the taquito plate and my GF had a house enchilada plate which was amazing. The service is outstanding. Our waiter continuous checked on us, even as busy as they were. All plates are reasonably priced and you are served large portions. They have a full bar with a large selection of traditional mexican specialties. If your considering going to like a Acapulco's or some other chain, skip that and come here! You will enjoy true mexican cusine. read more

The food was delicious and I happen to be very picky when it comes to Mexican food. I got the mixed molcajete for 1 but it was still big enough to share. I liked the level of spice. My husband got the enchiladas they were good as well made with fresh cheese, on the side it had potatoes and on the other side a piece of carne asada. Their agua de tamarindo was really good too. The staff was really friendly. This is a little more formal for a Mexican food place, many people were celebrating birthdays. They sign to you wearing Mexican sombreros. read more

Nothing but the BEST! And trust me I know Mexican food!!! ;) service is good and this place is in tip top shape. Despite all the construction going on. The best Chili Rellenos in town I would recommend and have invited all my family and friends to try this place out. ;). Ps I love the fact that they always dress to impress. read more

There are so many things about this place that I love! Great deals on Micheladas, carne asada, chilaquiles, tacos al gobernar...They have a bar area if you don't want to be amongst the family diners. They are always busy which is a pro and a con. But the food and drink make up for it. I've heard the gals in the bar area are not nice from quite a few people but i have never experienced such! Being from Norwalk this has been the only successful institution in this location! Muchas gracias! read more

Great food and drinks!!! Gets a bit packed but worth the wait :) Good customer service, nice eating area. My go to eating restaurant when out eating with the family! Definitely recommend. read more

One of my favorite local spots! I always leave feeling satisfied and extra full, the portions for me are big so there is always some to take home. The atmosphere is good too, usually it's people dining in with families. The Agua de horchata there is my fave! Good place to come eat some great Mexican food. read more

Came on a Thursday during happy hour with my gf,quickly seated at bar booth, and our server,Karen was quick to attend us and ask us what we wanted, had her start us off with two house margaritas and sum taquitos, both were great,I ordered the happy hour medium shrimp cocktail, she got the rib eye enchiladas, food came quick and our server constantly checked up on us,she loved her plate,I took off star because the cocktail was pretty unfulfilling,I mean,I understand its a happy hour cocktail, but I've had better $6 non happy hour shrimp cocktails, but by my 4th margarita I stopped caring, will definitely be back again soon,oh and I also ordered the Malibu rum and pineapple, very weak,go with the Rita's read more

Delicious authentic mexican food. Waitress Lily is our favorite but all the waitresses are friendly and courteous. Homemade corn tortillas are the best. Bartender Armando fixes up great margaritas. La morena drink is also a great choice. Happy hour is a great deal $6.95 great selection. We drive all the way from Orange County to come to this restaurant hands down it's one of the best Mexican restaurants that we have gone to. If you want great Mexican food this is the place to go to. read more

Went for the first time with my 12 y/o son.... Very impressed! The place has a very nice decor... Very clean and the staff is very friendly. We ordered Enchiladas de Camaron and Chilaquiles?... Excellent. The only thing stopping me from giving them a 4 Star is the fact that I noticed a puppy in a customers purse and when I asked if animals were allowed in the restaurant, the waitress talked to the manager, but nothing was done. I love animals, but I just don't like to see them in restaurants. I don't feel it's very hygienic. read more

I frequent the Long Beach location (on Anaheim) but I've made my way to the Norwalk location a couple times with family and the food and service were excellent. Carne Asada con Juevos is my go to dish, and it is always delish. The homemade corn tortillas and salsa are perfect. read more

You would have to see for your self since there is many good reviews. But I would say a good me should be done at home any time of the day. I guess I went at a bad time of the day. I could tell that my dish was brought straight from the microwave since the edge of the beans were dried and crispy and the center was cold. What really got me upset was the kids meal, microwaved burger in a bag. read more

Excellent food! I especially enjoyed the enchiladas suizas. Their mixed drinks are also delicious.

My boyfriend and I had breakfast here for the first time. We'd both heard good things about this pla e so we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away at a nice booth. Its very pretty inside. The coffee was great but the food was just ok. The sauce used on the chilaquiles is canned. Its not too hard to make fresh green salsa, too bad they choose not to use it. Its also over priced. I was expecting much more of this place. Too bad. read more

Omg it's delicious the fresh chips the fresh salsa and my great meal the taco and cheese enchiladas combination yummy !! Next time I'll try the seafood read more
