THE place to go for Mariscos/Seafood. The Enchiladas de Camaron were on point. Had the Queso Funfido con Chorizo, it's a house specialty and for a good reason. Let me say first that I would give this place 5 stars, but they raised the prices and they no longer give us our state employee discount. We have been going here for about 2 years now (I think.) The food is always on point - out of all the things my family and co-workers have tried, I know of only one time someone didn't care for something (can't remember what though, sorry!) Service at first was awesome all the time, but now it's hit or miss. Chips and salsa are the best; chips are (usually) warm and fresh and the salsa is soooooo good. My favorite plate is the chile verde. Their pork is so tender and the sauce is deelish! The happy hour is GREAT! Drinks are so good - our fave is la rubia. Two of those and you're feeling pretty happy :) The happy hour menu is really good too...you can eat and have a couple drinks during happy hour for about $20. They have mariachi during the weekend and also bring a little dessert out for a birthday, throw a hat on you and sing to you - very festive! We continuously patron this place :) On a side note - My husband and I visited one of their two locations in Long Beach but it did not compare to the Norwalk location at all! Nice little Mexican spot to hit up for some good food. Their burritos are always delicious and are a good size to get you full. The chicken burrito is probably the best. Love their shrimp ceviche. My husband got a plate of that and I got chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas were delicious as well. I could not stop eating off my husbands plate. Best ceviche I've had. The portions of food are great. We were so full. On top of the great lunch we had, our server, Carlos was very polite and friendly. Always made sure we taken care of. So any local knows this place has changed MANY times over the years. I've been there through all the changes meeting people and seeing them leave, this time I really hope they get to stay for good. The food is really good, especially the enchiladas suizas, yum! I've also tried their ceviches, and tacos and have always been happy with it. I always experience really good service (maybe because my dad's a regular lol) The waitress's are really nice and always have something good to recommend, the bartenders are sooo giving, whenever I order shots they always make them double! I usually only sit at the bar-top but today I sat in a booth (their was 3 of us) at the bar (not self seating there at all). The manager sat my 2 friends and was a bit rude chasing them to the bar area and wanting to know where they were going (bar). I had the same as I asways do, happy hour ceviche. It had no avocado because now they are charging extra for it and it was on a bed on cucumber making it look like you had a heaping pile of ceviche. The chicken taco salad is plain iceberg lettuce with mixed chicken, pico de gallo, beans and rice, it's just ok. The wet burrito was good but for the price of $15.00, not so good. Well finally my family and I decided to go party of 6. That it was going to be an hour MAX. Okay fine any how the hour went by and the guy that the desk said we still had a party in front of us ok so they called the party of 10. 1.5 hours I said ok we're up next and they called another party of of 6, 5 and another party of 6 time 2h 20m and we decided to leave were all up set hungry worst ever. Never again will I go there, Very disappointed. Ridiculous 2hrs 20min and still no table and we were next to be seated right after the 10 people party and 3 other parties went 6, 5 and 6 sat down before us and we didn't sit down. It's a nice restaurant. I just didn't care much for the food. The fish tacos were pretty good, including the corn tortillas. The chicken chilaquilas were only barely edible with a big slab of chicken. Definitely skip that. The rice and beans were ok. The salsa was fair but the chips weren't very good. The jamaica and tamarindo drinks were very good. The service was very good. Maybe I didn't order their better entrees but I can't recommend this place for Mexican food. I have to say I'm really disappointed. I was downtown and my coworker wanted to meet half way from his location. He requested sushi or pizza and I decided on Mexican. I love love love good Mexican food but this place to me was like any chain anywhere. I had 3 carnita tacos and not sure what he had. Service was ok Tacos were soggy and boring. No flavor. This is definitely one of the best places for Mexican food. I started going many years ago to their location in Long Beach. So I was thrilled when they opened this place here in Norwalk a few years back... closer to home, excellent food. And their menu does not change very much, so you can always expect to find your "usual". But everything else really is worth trying. Their ceviche is delicious, all their caldos and soups are made to perfection... I have never been let down as far as flavor. The drinks are always perfect... my only gripe about this location is the seating/wait time. I have an issue with the bar area being on their wait list. Unlike most restaurants where you can sit in the bar area whenever a table is available, this place requires you to check in. So there isn't much opportunity for a casual walk-in lunch or quick dinner. And the wait times are looong! There is a huge "waiting area" near the front counter that is just DEAD SPACE. if they installed some booths or bar tables, it could make for a nice "drink-while-you-wait" lounge. That wasted space is such a shame. So unless you have time to wait, or unless you're dining in on a slow Tuesday evening, most likely, you will wait quite a while- sorry, no bar area. But is the food worth the wait? Most definitely. I'll still stick to my slow Monday or Tuesday evenings though. I hate waiting. read more

Excellent Mexican food! Brenda was a nice friendly waitress. I had my usual #16, which includes crispy taco, enchilada and chile releno. Food came out nicely presented and hot. Los Compadres has good food and an awesome Cadilac Margarita. I usually get the chilaquiles and carne asada place and I share it with my fiancee. The queso fundido is a great appetizer. The service from the waiters has always been nice, and even if you have to wait they have a decent size waiting area. The only reason why I am not giving them a 5 star is because they have to pay closer attention to the restroom. I take it it's the customers who are not bein clean, but the toilet paper balls on the ceiling, the super full waste baskets, the rolls of paper being loose and not on the toilet paper holder would be better managed if they check in on the bathrooms once every hour and half at least on the busy weekends. I will still go back, I am just hoping they can improve in this area, since it seems like not too much to do for a way better customer experience. read more

Mexican food and Booze! Perfect combo. Tacos de carnitas and carne asada with rice and beans. The plate is huge, big enough to share. Tacos are on normal sized tortillas. Queso fundido with chorrizo is a great starter. With a Tamarita to drink it down. The Tamarita is amazing, Tamarindo, triplesec and casadores. Its like drinking a diablito with tequila. I have also had their chicken taquitos, chicken enchilada, and Agua Chiles. All are amazing and large portioned. The ONLY thing I would NOT recommend is their mai tai. I order it and the description was like any other mai tai, rum, oj, ect. But this was not made from scratch. I am 100% sure i had mai tai mix served to me. It was gross. This Los Compadres is a mixed review for our family. Service was very nice and friendly. We went here on a very busy Saturday evening. They sat us in a booth in the bar area which was fine by us. We received our food before our drinks which was a bit bothersome considering we ordered drinks right when we sat down. We ordered carnitas (a family favorite) tacos and a carnitas tostado and beef tauquitos. The beef taquitos were enjoyed and had a kick to them. The carnitas were ok....but a bit dry compared to other restaurants. Guacamole and chips were yummy. We were impressed that the manager sent over two free desserts (we didn't even ask for this) because we waited so long for our drinks. So we might be back if we happen to be in the area. read more
