I did something yesterday that I have never done before: I left NO tip. We are frequent customers of Los Cabo's and have always enjoyed the good food, great margaritas and familiar and friendly staff. Last night was different and with new servers. It took awhile but once our food was delivered, we were on auto-pilot. I needed refills, more napkins, and to-go box. We did not receive attention at our table after our food was delivered in spite of a semi-busy night. The servers seemed to have plenty of time for visiting and talking up front. We even waited a long time for our bill but I had to approach the register. I complained about the lack of follow-up service to the servers who didn't seem upset. When I asked for the manager, they refused to get him. I always tip between 20-25%, and even with bad service I leave 10%. But refusing to call the manager resulted in 0%. Someone needs to explain why beef and chicken fajitas taste like old grease and cast iron. No seasoning at all just old burnt grease. The chips were over cooked and my guess in the same old grease or Mel fry? Mens bathroom had no paper towels and the refill bottle of soap to try to man handle. SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! I had the waitress with bright pink hair, she was not attentive to my table and she got a huge attitude with me when SHE got my order wrong. The table heard me tell her what I wanted and she responded to all my questions upon ordering but when my food came out wrong she proceeded to tell me that what she had told me before didn't happen, and basically I was wrong also while rolling her eyes at me! Friendly, clean and food very good. Burritos Lis Cabos has shrimp and tilapia and fresh veggies with a large side of lettuce, etc. Portions large, too. Many tables look like they could easily accommodate a party in the spacious center of the clean dining area. I love Mexican food and this was very good! I had the carne asada and al pastor tacos, my son had a soft ground beef taco. The salsas were delicious, they bring a hot and mild to the table with chips. They aren't the best I've had, but very good for the selection of Mexican places in the area. Let me tell you about the service. It was a slow night, on a Friday. It made me wonder because usually good restaurants are busy on Fridays. The service was prompt and good. The server even took the time to asks about my margarita, how I liked it, what I would change, etc. I had to be honest, it's one of the best margaritas I've had in awhile! I normally avoid ordering margaritas, especially from chain restaurants, because they taste watered down or from a big "stock." This tasted freshly made and a good deal for the money. Plus it was happy hour, on a Friday! That's usually unheard of. Disclaimer: he also told me they are also always looking to improve their margaritas, so they may change the components based on feedback. I finally want to add that it is a tradition in our house to have "taco and movie night" on Fridays. My son does not like pizza, the typical norm in most American families, so finding somewhere to eat on Fridays is difficult since my son only likes ground beef tacos. He liked his taco so much, he ate 2! That is unheard of (unless they are my tacos) in our house. This place has the potential to become a regular tradition in our family! read more

The outside is a bit unkept and is not located in the best part of town. The inside is Ok. We were greeted immediately and seated. chips and salsa brought out immediately. I liked the salsa because it was spicy. I ordered a burrito deluxe and a large Margarita. The burrito was good and a hefty portion, just wish the beans in the burrito had better flavor think the beans may have been over cooked. The Margarita was ok, the flavor needs work. This is a super solid spot if you're downtown/on the Hill and don't want to experience the trainwreck that is Mi Rancho's downtown. The food is consistently good, fast, and reasonably priced (for the most part as long as you're eating chicken/beef). The best part is that they will make your food spicy if you ask for it...and it is a flavorful space not a "I'm trying to prove something" level of tongue-torch. I recently visited Los Cabos during lunch and it was great. This is the perfect place for lunch, because 1) the food is great & 2) they are VERY fast at getting the food out so I haven't had to worry about taking too long on lunch. I order the burrito lunch combo and it was tasty. I also tried some of the Los Cabos dip and it was good as well. Chips were nice and crispy and they kept a steady supply coming to my table. Decor is very basic, so that may be an issue for some if they like a certain ambiance. Prices here are very reasonable so can't complain in that department. I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now and I would call it my favorite place for Mexican food. Up until recently, my rating would be much higher. However, service has really fallen off. There are several young people working here that have potential, but they do not seem to yet understand service to customers. The last time before today that I went here was one early evening. Very few customers in the place. Easily half the tables needing clearing and cleaning, but the staff was standing around talking to each other or sitting at a booth looking at their phones. The food was still good, but wasn't as hot as it should have been. Tired of waiting for our check, we went to the register, where no one was. Finally after several minutes, one of the guys sitting at the booth looking at his phone went into the kitchen and yelled for my server to check us out. Today, it was Sunday afternoon. There were more customers but, again, the empty tables were in need of clearing and cleaning. We, and another guest waited at the hostess stand while two of the workers stood over at the register talking. Finally we were seated. The main part of of my food was at least warm, but the accompanying rice was, well, just slightly not cold. Again, no check came so we went to the counter. I was told what the cost was, but not presented a bill. I paid it and then realized I think I was charged too much. The perplexing part of all this is that one of the owners was onsite both of these occasions, the same one. Today he was doing all the food delivery while I don't know what they others were doing. Is he afraid to jack the staff up? If so, that's really sad. The less I say about how many flies were in the place, the better. I really liked this place. I sure hope they pull themselves out of this nosedive they are in. read more

The food here used to be good, but we're kind of afraid to even TRY it now! My wife and I thought to give them a chance when our favorite Mexican restaurant till today was Pablo's in North Augusta. To start, we wanted to check their Health Department rating, which is required to be conspicuously posted. Besides NOT being posted on either of the entry doors (one facing Walton Way and one facing Baker Avenue), the staff inside didn't even seem to know WHAT we were talking about! Needless to say, we didn't stay and won't try again. No problem, though, because it led to us finding our new favorite Mexican restaurant, Rio Cantina in North Augusta, right next to SRP Park. I must start with the food, drinks and service - they were fantastic! We had two gentlemen helping us who were personable and attentive. The food was great all around including the fresh guacamole, taco salad, and taquitos. However, half the waitstaff and I can only assume their children posted up at the first booth (directly behind us) watching videos without headphones to the point where my husband and I could not even have a conversation over the STUPID number of beeps (better than the profanity I suppose?) playing LOUDLY in their booth. What a way to crap all over a great dinner. We moved tables because it was obscene that such behavior was allowed and received dirty looks from two women in the booth for the rest of our meal. Kinda like everyone else, had a need for some good Mexican and Los Cabos exceeded high expectations after reading other reviews. One of only complaint(depends on the audience) the bar is for maybe 8 seats...otherwise the staff is fully engaged and everyone can help out... even gave me the remote for the tv! This restaurant replaced one of my favorite chinese restaurants, Ming Wah. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food. I really have to be in the mood for it. So I decided to check out this place and see what it was all about. It looks about the same as the old restaurant except for the bright paint and the sombreros hanging up. I've tried the hard tacos and Pollo con Crema. Both were very good. I really liked the Pollo con Crema. The chicken was very tender and juicy. The rice was good that came with it too. The sweet tea is good and sweet just how I like it. The staff is very helpful. They constantly check on you and fill your glasses up. The prices are dirt cheap as well. A dinner for two is like $20. They do have happy hour and it's from 3pm-6pm. I'm not sure if they have karoake or a live band but I'm sure eventually they will get both of those. Los Cabos on Walton Way, in Augusta, Ga, is the bomb in Mexican Chicken/Rice soup! This is our second visit, and the soup is the best in the area! Full of chicken, onion, peppers, tomatoes, etc, accented with pica de gallo and 2 slices of avocado! Sweet tea is delicious, too, if you like sweet tea! What to expect from Los Cabos - It's a typical Mexican place that has better food than most other Mexican restaurants. I wouldn't say it's as "authentic" as some other local places that we love, but for the convenience of how close it is to us, we love this place. The fajitas are really good - even the veggie fajitas are delicious!! We especially love the spicy salsa with cilantro - it's one of our favorite salsas! The staff is always so friendly, service is great, and food is quick! Can't beat that. They have plenty of room for large groups which is also a huge plus - and even though you may have 15-20 people in your party you don't wait years to get your food, they still bring it out in a timely manner! read more
