One of our favorite upscale Mexican restaurants! This isn't your typical Mexican restaurant, they took your standard Mexican food and added a new level of flare! We came with friends on a Saturday night and booked reservations through opentable. I'd highly recommend as the place was packed all night! We each ordered a marg from their quite impressive list of signature cocktails. I got the blood orange marg and it was delicious! We also got queso for the table and I would 10/10 recommend it! It's exactly what you think of when you order queso, it's creamy, white, a tad running but oh so delicious. For dinner I ordered the Tu Combinacion with the sope and crispy taco both with shredded chicken. The sope was new to me but had such incredible flavors! The waiter suggested to put the salsa on the side and I'm so happy he did! It allowed for me to dip rather than get the sope soggy. The crispy taco was exactly that. It was very crisp and had your standard taco filling. I'd recommend the combination if your new so you can try a couple different items. The combination also comes with rice and black beans. This place is DELICIOUS! I've dined in and I've ordered online to bring it home and it tastes fresh both times! I ordered the chicken Chimichanga and the way they cook the beans and cheese inside, is amazing! I'm not usually a fan of beans but they do a great job! Chips and salsa are great and complimentary with whatever you order. Two types of salsa, red which was a bit sweet and a dark salsa that has a kick but not spicy. This is my go-to spot when I am craving this style of food! I've had their steak tacos and beef taquito plate which was all delicious! One of the best mexican restaurants in Carmel! They have a nice outdoor patio and plenty of seating indoors as well. You can even make a reservation online. We came on a Friday night around 6 and had a 20 min wait for the patio. Once we sat down we ordered some guacamole and the skinny Cadillac maragaritas. Of course they brought the chips and salsa right away. They have a green and red salsa with the table chips. The green one was Smokey and very tasty! We decided to splurge and split the Molcajete dish. It is massive and delicious! We ordered a mix of shrimp and chicken, and it comes with chorizo, onions and peppers all sizzling hot. The waitress said it can stay hot up to an hour in the serving dish. It is served with a side of tortillas so you can make your own tacos. Simply the most satisfying authentic mexican cuisine around. I am a mexican restaurant fanatic and this one out does them all in the area. More of an upscale atmosphere and mood. The decor is modern yet rustic. The glass water bottle refill is nice to top of drinks. The drinks are on point and some very very high end, like the Billionaire Margarita is $350!?! The fresh tasting seafood options are nice and the veggies are cooked perfectly crisp. The sides are better than most too, the crumbled melted cheese atop the beans and rice is nice too! I got the crab enchiladas and the creamy cilantro sauce with verde salsa drizzled on top was delicious. The sour cream is mexican style as well. I almost forgot about the wide array of salsas they offer to snack on prior to the main course! Mild red, medium roasted and habanero pico. All satisfied our table but the roasted black salsa seemed to be the favorite! My new favorite Mexican spot! Think classy Mexican. Example: lobster quesadillas, filet mignon burritos, stuffed peppers, and alllll of the classic menu choices as well. I turned into the real-life version of the heart-eye emoji. The ambiance is nice, the servers and hosts all speak Spanish (love the authenticity), and the menu is super creative... also, they have Marg Monday's, although I got most excited about the mojitos. Everyone working was very kind, friendly and attentive. There were no faults that I could find! The guacamole is amazing and chunky, and chips and salsa come free. The fajitas were super healthy, steamy and tasty. Nothing was oily or fatty- everything tasted very fresh and pure. My friend brought me here to celebrate my birthday a week early and I had a delicious meal from start to finish! We sat in the bar area and we were brought chips with 2 homemade salsas. I enjoyed them both but preferred the red. They have an expansive cocktail menu. I went with the spicy skinny margarita. I would highly recommend. Just the right amount of kick. I had the Maria's Enchiladas and holy moly they were awesome. The asado grilled chicken was juicy and the homemade salsa verde on top was incredible. They also have really good black means which isn't something I normally enjoy very much. My friend told them we were there for my birthday and they brought out complimentary ice cream and churros. Pretty middling review from me. The staff was very nice. The restaurant was clean. And it had a faux-upscale feel. That, in some ways, wasn't really to its advantage as the food was solidly in the cheap Mexican sitdown territory. My chicken chimichanga was mostly gloppy cheese and mushy black beans. I picked out what chicken there was to eat and found the few bits of tortilla that were fried crispy without having turned to blubber with cheese. The side of rice was closer in texture to instant mashed potatoes that had too many flakes poured in. The price was a decent amount higher than your usual chimy but the product was pretty subpar. So not a positive experience but by no means a negative one. I'd consider eating there again. But I wouldn't get the chimy. I'd probably try for something on deep discount like a lunch special so I'd feel less disappointed in the quality. read more

Just an update from my last review 6 years ago; I gave Los Arroyos a 5-star rating then and they still deserve a 5-star rating. The quality of the food is high, and it seems very clean and organized. The staff seems to be very hard-working and caring. The service is excellent: prompt & efficient. We get carryout from Los Arroyos usually, and even carryout service is on-the-ball. They continue to be very crowded, and they have a nice outdoor patio. The chunky guacamole is excellent as are both of the salsas. You might not think of getting a salad here but you should! They are better than most salads ... one has fruit (mango I think) on it and all are tasty. This is definitely the best mexican restaurant around the whole northside of Indy. It can be hard to get into, so I suggest going at a non-peak time. I know someone from London who always wants to go here when she is in the States. Everyone seems to love it here. Dude. I am obsessed. Check out this California based chain for some delicious, higher end Mexican food. Very friendly waitress and a cute outdoor patio too. It started off with the chips, pretty sure they were homemade. We got two types of salsa as well as a hot sauce and a spicy pepper mix. I ordered a small side of queso for $4 too. My husband and I ate 3 bowls of chips. Whoops. They were that good tho. I got the handheld burrito w the al pastor, it was filled w guac and both sweet and savory. I also got the blood orange margarita which was citrusy and refreshing. i was pleasantly surprised when I got the bill that it was margarita Monday so I think the drinks were half off or something. Some of the reviews say it is pricey but there is a big price range - the burrito I got was only $13 and was so filling I couldn't finish it (but again, 3 bowls of chips)..if you get the lobster quesadilla then yes, you will pay a little more, just depends what you are looking for, there are more gourmet options as well as cal/mex staples. The flavors omg finally a good Mexican restaurant in Carmel. If you are looking to have authentic Mexican food try their tacos or mix it up! I recommend the sopes so good. I was on my way to a breakfast restaurant in same the strip center when I saw Los Arroyos. Mexican food suddenly sounded better so I decided to pop in here instead. Los Arryos is a chain started in Santa Barara, CA in 1999 with 5 locations now. This location is the first in the Midwest. Wow! This wasn't the decor I was expecting. The interior reminds me of an upscale steak house with wrought iron chandeliers, neutral colors, dark woods and natural lighting from the large wall of patio windows. Seating consists of booths, tables and banquette seating. As you enter there is a small, full service bar to your right with a few tall-top tables. The menu lists an extensive selection of premium margaritas and tequilas. Tequila flights are featured seasonally. I was greeted and seated at a table with banquette seating. I always prefer a booth for additional privacy but none were available. The problem with banquette seating is you feel like you're dining with the tables on both sides of you. Both of the couple's to both sides of me had business conversations that kind of took over my personal space and thoughts. No fault of the restaurant just an uncomfortable situation. Minutes after I was seated chips and two types of salsa appeared at my table. One mild, one spicy and the spicy, was my favorite. I really didn't find the spicy very spicy so don't shy away from. The hostess brought the regular, a seasonal and a lunch menu. They offer traditional items to modern cuisine. I loved some of the more unusual entrees like lobster quesadillas, swordfish kabobs and even ribs. I opted to try something off of the more affordable lunch menu with prices ranging from $7.50 - $13 with small sides of guacomole or cheese dip for $1.75. Vegetarian and gluten free dishes are available too. I ordered the La Tampiquena with grilled steak topped with grilled onions, one cheese enchilada and a sliced avocado served with refried beans and homemade corn tortillas. I was pleasantly surprised when my lunch arrived very quickly. I barely had time to sample the homemade salsas. The tender steak was prepared as requested, seasoned well, the cheese enchilada was flavorful and the beans were good but better after I added spicy salsa. I would definitively order again. My server, Enrique, was on top of it. Little slow bringing the check but he thought I was working and didn't want to rush me. No problems! I went here during Corona19 scare 2020.... the place was empty and I felt a little bad for being there. But I am doing my part to help small businesses... nice decor with high beams and candelabras like an old Mexican church. The fajitas and tortillas were very good. Lits of veggies with my chicken and steak. I asked for a hotter sauce. I learned that you should ask what is in something before taking a bite. What I thought was pico de gallo was habanero and onion. Little spicy but amazing!! And the hot sauce was so good. Both added the kick I was looking for. Oh and the beer is cold!! Really appreciated the cleanliness and upscale feel of this Mexican restaurant. It was a very pleasant place to spend the lunch hour. The food was good, not great (I'm from Texas so I'm probably biased but I haven't found great Mexican food outside of Texas). It was nice to have options with the chips and salsa, where they served two kinds of salsa, with unlimited refills. The ranchers salad was also good, though they either forgot or skimped on the pico de gallo. The cilantro dressing was nice, but it needed salsa on the salad. Los Arroyos might be a good, neutral restaurant to visit with co-workers, or for a dinner with girlfriends. A place where the food is secondary to the company. There is lots of space in this restaurant for large groups, and even a semi-private area that I imagine would be great for a party. The decor is very pretty and calming -- lots of wood and leather and earth tones. The food is just OK. My appetite is positively geriatric, so I get hungry for lunch at about 10:30. Luckily, Los Arroyos opens at 11 a.m. We were the first people there. We got the chicken taquitos plate, which were covered with sour cream and lettuce, and came with black refried beans and rice. We also got the chicken enchiladas, which were covered with tomatillo sauce, sour cream and lettuce. The chicken was dry in both of our dishes. The food also came out lukewarm, which is disappointing and confusing because we were the first and only people there. You'd think, since the people in the kitchen could focus on only two orders, our food would come out piping hot! Alas. The chips and salsa were good -- probably the best part of the meal. The iced tea is the kind that tastes a little perfumey and fruity, so if you like that kind of iced tea, you will like this one. I do like it. The hot coffee is good and strong. There was a steady flow of repair people milling about when we were there. People with ladders and equipment walking in back of our chairs. I guess because the restaurant just opened, I can give them a pass about this. But really, it kills the atmosphere when you have to move yourself to accommodate the guy with the ladder walking by your table. read more

The location is great--moms can go sit and have a peaceful hour while their student is at Mathnasium. The food is fresh and terrific--this is not one of those standard strip mall Mexican joints (although I love those). The chips are freshly made in the kitchen and come out warm, not from a warming lamp but because they've literally just been made. I'm not a salsa lover, but their salsa is TO DIE FOR. They have a classic salsa and a smoky, yummy, weird brown salsa that I want to swim in. The guacamole is also fresh and perfect. (From here on out, can we just assume everything I mention is fresh? Fresh. Key word in this Yelp review.) Don't skip the margarita. Several kinds to choose from and you can't go wrong. They also have this top shelf, bougie tequila that's a bajillion dollars an ounce. Lemme know if you want to buy me a drink with that in it. One drawback--I've been there several times, and often, the wait for food is looooong. I realize they're making things from scratch in the kitchen, but even so. Once the wait was almost an hour from being seated to our food arriving. Also, when their patio is open, you can't have your dog out there. That's a bummer. They seem to be doing an excellent job with Covid precautions. My friend and I decided to try this place on National Margarita Day! We would have typically gone to one of our regular Mexican restaurants, but we wanted to change it up. I had heard mixed reviews on Los Arroyos. Their COVID precautions are nothing special, the employees all wear masks and they have a QR code for the menu, or they can provide one of their original menus (which are not disposable). Our server asked if we had been their before and when we both replied "no," she did not even bother to go over the menu or mention any drink specials or popular menu items. She simply placed the chips and two salsa's down and then said she would be back. If we would have known that the margarita's were half price, when we initially ordered drinks, we would have ordered different drinks but we were not told until half way through our meal. Lets talk about the chips & salsa- what everyone loves about Mexican, right? HAHA. Both salsa lacked any and all flavor and the chips just did not taste fresh like some other individuals state in their reviews. My friend and I did not care for the chips & salsa which is disappointing when you go out for Mexican because that's a huge part of eating Mexican food, at least for us. I ordered the chicken fajitas and he ordered the Burrito Mojado. The burrito was the smallest I have ever seen from any Mexican restaurant and the portion or rice is so minimal that they might as well just exclude it all together. The fajitas include nice size strips of chicken but, again, lack flavor. They need to better season their food. I typically say "bad chips & salsa....means the food won't be that great either." So, kudos to Los Arroyos for not screwing-up the call ahead concept. The Good: * Food quality was good. Not outstanding, but my steak fajita was fresh. A few too many vegetables and not quite enough steak, however. * The Margaritas: I had a killer Tamarindo margarita. I'll go back to Los Arroyos just for that. * Service: Our server was very prompt and courteous. The Not-So-Good: * The temperature: Oh My GOD - it was easily 90 degrees inside the place (outside temperature was 53 degrees). PLEASE crank down the heat. So delicious, and tasted very fresh. They provided a spicy and a mild salsa. Honestly, I don't think the spicy salsa was spicy at all. And I'm a wimp when it comes to heat. I ordered the lobster quesadilla... because who has ever heard of that? Not me! The lobster quesadilla was a bit pricey for mexican food, it was $18 - but as long as it's quality lobster, I don't mind paying a bit more. The server said that was one of their best selling items. SOOO happy I ordered this. It was more like a gourmet cheese quesadilla, with chunks of lobster in it. It was very filling as well. I could've easily split this with another person. I would say this place has a bit more of an upscale vibe. It's not your typical "Americanized" Mexican restaurant that looks like what Americans think Mexico looks like lol.
