Been living in the area for years and finally decided to give this place a try for an early dinner on Monday. The patio was absolutely stunning and perfect with the weather. The staff were very kind and attentive. It took our food over 30 mind to come out. The rice and chicken dish was actually pretty cold and kinda dry compared to what I'm used to as far as the amount of queso. My friend loved her enchiladas! Over the food was delicious! Located in a very busy area off of 116th and Springmill, Los Arroyos has nestled itself onto the list of "must try" Mexican restaurants in Indianapolis. One of the only downsides is having to navigate the traffic and pedestrian congestion in a poorly laid out set of strip malls in attempts to find a parking spot. We had a reservation, and I would recommend it if you plan to go on the weekend. The inside is cozy, with probably ~15 tables in the main seating area and another 4-5 in a separate annex area. They also have a few tables in the bar area. One of the things I was most impressed with was that when we were seated, they had complimentary chips, two types of salsa, and waters for everyone already on the table. This is so simple, yet I had never seen it done before. Needless to say, it made an impression. The menu has the traditional favorites such as arroz con pollo, but also a wide selection of seafood dishes like crab enchiladas. I went with the burrito mojado, a wet burrito with rice, guac and sour cream on the side. The entrees came out just about as soon as we finished scrapping up the crumbs from the bowl of chips. The flavor was on point and the burrito was huge -- definitely wasn't able to finish it in one sitting. The only minor drawback was the food was a bit lukewarm. So we are in love with this place. Hands down our favorite spot to get Mexican. The restaurant has a really cool and somehow homey vibe. But that may be because of its authenticity. The service can be hit or/miss but it is usually due to language barriers. The food...well what can I say it is amazing! The chimichanga (steak) is our go to and I mean we go about once sometimes twice a week to knock out the craving. The dough is fried perfectly with a nice crisp crunch and still a nice pull. The steak is perfectly seasoned and tender. We get it without the beans but with extra rice which is firm and flavorful. Get a side of queso to add on top (you will thank me later). The husband has tried a lot of dishes here and has not found one to disappoint. The drinks are decent as well. For the price, I'm not overly enthusiastic about them. I heard good things about the crab enchiladas here, which I read are filled with fresh Dungeness crab meat. Despite seeing an online menu price of $17, high price for Mexican food, I decided it was worth the splurge and headed over. Upon arriving at this location near Market District, I realized it was a bit fancier of a place. I was immediately seated and told to scan the QR code for menus. I barely missed lunch, which ends at 3, but the crab enchiladas are dinner only so it didn't matter much. I looked at all of the menus for fun. Drinks are VERY pricey here, even including a billionaire margarita for $350. Yikes. I stuck with water and ordered the crab enchiladas, after confirming with my waitress this fresh crab dish was worth the new price of $22. She let me sub rice and beans for a house salad, which I appreciated. The chips were fine, nothing special, but the two salsas were delicious, my favorite part of the meal. My entree came quickly on a very, very hot plate. I don't mind as it keeps the food warm but my salad was on the same plate. It quickly cooked the lettuce and despite the ranch being flavorful (yet surprisingly spicy), I couldn't eat the soggy mess. My waitress checked on me once and I explained the salad situation. She offered to replace it but I declined, knowing I'd fill up on the enchiladas. She replaced it anyways and refilled my water. I never saw her again. Excited to eat the crab, my first bite was pure disgust and disappointment. I pulled it apart and realized this was NOT fresh crab. Was it even crab? I took another bite. Yuck. It looked and smelled like cat food. It was awful. I stopped eating and didn't see a waitress for about 10 minutes. When I saw her again helping another table, I waved and she said she'd be right over. A different waitress then brought my check. She asked if I wanted a box, I declined and said the enchiladas were not good. She took them away and said nothing. Granted, I didn't want to make a scene or even refuse to pay, but at least acknowledge that you are throwing away a $22 plate of food with only 2 bites missing. The two stars are for the salsa alone but I would not return. There are far too many amazing Mexican restaurants in the area and for $22, I'll go to Chef PTA's for fresh crab legs. read more

Had a lovely dinner on the shaded patio on a packed Wednesday. Started with an Arroyo Margarita, chips and salsa and added queso. The waitress saw our chips were running low and quickly brought us more. The queso was tasty but runny and I am not a fan of their salsas (dark char taste), but I love their entrees. I had the Tacos del Mer and they were delicious, rice is fluffy and flavorful and the black beans delish! My husband had the Gobernador....? And he also enjoyed his meal. Medicore Mexican food at good Mexican from California prices. I decided to give Los Arroyos another shot because I thought it was cool that it exists in Indiana of all places. When I lived in Santa Barbara this was a place to go if for some reason you didn't want to go the much better Los Agaves (almost identical in some ways). Los Arroyos never quite hit the mark and it missed yet again. My burrito was heavy on rice and extras salty. As I ate I was reminded of what I never liked about Los Arroyos in the first place. I met a dinner date at Los Arroyos Mexican restaurant in Carmel and it was a nice experience. We made a reservation ahead of time which was a great idea for a Friday night. When we arrived, there were several people waiting ahead of us, so I would highly recommend making reservations for Friday night and Saturday night. The ambiance was very nice for a Mexican restaurant, and quite upscale than a normal Mexican restaurant. The service could have been better. Our server was pleasant and professional, but she hardly ever came to our table to check on us and to refill our water glasses. When we were getting ready to check out, our server appeared to have left for the evening and did not bring us our check. Another server brought us our check and settled our check with the other server. We were not impressed with the service at all, so if you dine at Los Arroyos, be aware that you may not get the best service for your buck. The food though is incredible and terrific! I ordered the Maria's Enchiladas with chicken and refried black beans and it was wonderful. I was very impressed with my meal. My date ordered the chicken fajitas and she loved it very much. We shared the top shelf guacamole appetizer and it was very fresh and terrific. Definitely come here for the food because it is worth the price, but do not expect to receive the best customer service on a busy night. On a slower night, I believe the service would be better. Couldn't be happier! An early dinner with great service and a meal exceeding our expectations. Instead of delving into the free chips and salsa, we started with the top shelf guac. It's hard to go wrong with that --big chunks of avocado and delicious thin chips. My dinner companion quickly settled on the tacos del mar, with fish. He loved it and said he would order it again with the shrimp next time. I deliberated between the enchiladas and homemade sopes, choosing the latter, which had less sauce and was served open-faced. We both had a side of rice and beans. The flavor of the beans was delicious. It was more than I could eat in one meal but I enjoyed every bite. They have a somewhat limited selection of beer but it was reasonably priced. Outdoor seating is on a nice courtyard with a roof. We were in town visiting family for an extended Easter weekend, and by Monday evening we were all craving something different for dinner. Enter Los Arroyos, as suggested by the family members who live in Carmel. Browsing the menu online, it was hard to decided - everything sounded incredible and family said they had never been disappointed. We phoned in our order and it was ready for pick-up on time: always a reason for bonus points. We shared the top shelf guacamole as a starter. They gave us plenty of chips to accompany it and the multiple containers of salsa they provided. The chips were still warm and obviously fresh. The guacamole was great - flavorful with big chunks of avocado, lots of fresh veggies, and a punch of garlic. I ordered the steak fajita burrito, which was huge. The steak was perfectly cooked and the burrito was stuffed with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and black beans. I regretted not being able to finish it but my husband happily took one for the team and polished it off after eating his own dinner of a chimichanga smothered in queso and a shrimp taco. Everything was truly delicious, clearly made with quality ingredients. This will be a staple of future family visits, especially once everyone is fully vaccinated and we can go enjoy margaritas on the patio safely! read more

This place is located in the shopping center that contains the Market District Supermarket in Carmel and right next door to Convivio. I was a little surprised that this place was decently smaller than expected. When you first go in there is a bar to the right, a waiting area and private room to the left, and then straight back were the rest of the tables. We had a reservation at 6:45pm and this place was already super crowded! We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated even with a reservation, but there was enough open space inside that we didn't need to wait outside in the cold and we just chatted until our table was ready. All of the tables in the main dining area are pretty close together, but we were seated in a booth. It was really nice that the chips and salsa were already on the table when we sat down. For my drink I ordered the pomegranate margarita. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't say super pomegranate-y or sweet. I would probably just got with the regular margarita next time. The chips and salsa were really good. The chips were nice and salty, but not too overwhelming. It came with two different salsas- one a more traditional salsa, which was okay and the other one was green salsa that had more of a smokey flavor and definitely had a kick. I really enjoyed that one and almost finished it myself. For my main dish I ordered the chicken chimichanga, which is fried burrito prepared with shredded chicken, black beans & cheese, served with rice, guacamole & sour cream. Unfortunately, when it first came it was a beef chimichanga but this was corrected right away and I got the correct meal within about 5-7 min of letting the waitress know it was incorrect. This meal was fantastic. The chimichanga was really good. I would definitely recommend it. Something that surprised me was that the rice was SO good. A lot of the time when I go to Mexican restaurants the rice is looks like it has flavor, but it's pretty bland. Not at Los Arroyos! I was very pleasantly surprised. The waiter suggested to put the salsa on the side and I'm so happy he did! It allowed for me to dip rather than get the sope soggy. The crispy taco was exactly that. It was very crisp and had your standard taco filling. I'd recommend the combination if your new so you can try a couple different items. The combination also comes with rice and black beans.
