Here is a quick bullet point breakdown of our dinner experience: Pro's: 1) Good friendly service by our waitress Jessica. She explained the menu & gave suggestions. 2) My wife had a very good margarita but for the high price it should be good (more on that later). 3) The food had better than average flavor. Con's 1) I've never walked out of a Mexican restaurant hungry but I did last night after going here. Portions very small. 2) OVER PRICED!!! Extremely over priced for what you receive. The margarita was $14, the kids meal was $8.50. The kids meals do not consist of much food (a 6 inch taco & small scoop of rice or 6 inch cheese quesadilla & rice). They walked out of there hungry as well. They need to fix the kids meal prices. 3) My "steak burrito" had better than average flavor but again portion size was extremely small for what you receive at $14. 4) They state they use fresh ingredients and I don't doubt they do but I can go to Chuy's in Fishers and get fresh Mexican as well for 1/2 the cost. Very disappointing as I feel they are taking advantage of their customers just because they are in Carmel. read more

Went for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. The chips come with two different salsas, and they are delicious. The chips were thin and crispy. I had the fajita burrito with steak, and it was it was fabulous. Their guacamole is great, and I've never been in love with Mexican rice until now. All of their meat is locally sourced. It's a higher end Mexican Restaurant, so it's a little pricier than most others around. The seasonings and flavors make it stand out. Definitely worth the extra $! read more

Been here twice for lunch and very pleased to find something different than the typical Mexi-American menu. Two different salsas brought great flavors and variety. Cotija cheese on the rice was delicious and so much more flavorful than other places. Salsa verde had a bright citrus flavor and the steak in the chimichanga was tender and well seasoned. Finally a restaurant in Indiana that makes a descent Pozole. Guacamole is better than most. Ask for the Salsa Cemada. Way better than the house salsa. It should be the house salsa.Service was great. If they could leave the cheese sauce off of the arroz con pollo that would be good. The carnitas were good. Not as flavorful as some but authentic-with the crust from the scalded milk on them. This was a great experience all around. Service was on point and they were very attentive to us. The drinks were great and my girlfriend loves the mojito. I love the ambiance of this place and also the guacamole! Hopefully the next time we return they will have the table side guac available- but the side of guac is amazing. The food was very fresh but was lacking in some flavor- in particularly the tacos. I think the price is a little too pricey for what you get but it's not too bad. I hope to see some of the wait staff get more efficient as time goes on because this place could be really amazing with great service. Tip to the servers- if you're serving a 4 top give more than just one bowl of chips and a small bowl of salsa. But overall the restaurant was great- would highly recommend. read more

I'm giving it three stars based on poor handling by management a few weekends ago when my sister in law slipped on their floor. No one came to ask how she was doing or whether she was hurt until hours later when we approached the manager. He said he was busy and should have come over sooner...you think? He then filled out a report and during the conversation said heels can be slippery. Again, you don't blame the customer for falling, especially when we just paid a $380 bill. Instead you might apologize and ask them if they want a free dessert or something. Very poorly handled. But fortunate for Los Arroyos we will go back because the food is fantastic and our waitress Jessica was awesome! We all had different dishes and each one was more delicious. Might be a bit pricey but I do believe it is worth it. Just be sure to wear flats! read more

Very expensive for the quality and portions size. The lobster quesadilla had very little filling, no lobster, cold and dry. The hard tacos are great, reminds me of AZ., but 5.00 each, same for a side of beans. Chips and salsa, not great, and kids meal, totally to expensive. Gave it a try since its new to our area. I don't like being charged for chips and salsa and they do here. Guacamole was just ok. Had to season with salt and pepper. Fajitas said came with grilled onions, peppers and tomatoes. Mine had no tomatoes. Meat nicely seasoned but my friends dish was very bland. Unsweetened tea is delicious. Cost was substantially more than other Mexican restaurants. There were employees everywhere but our drinks went unfilled for too long. I'll stick to my usual Mexican restaurant. read more

Where have we been to have missed this 6-year-old gem in the middle of a jammed-up outdoor shopping mall in the suburbs of Indianapolis? While seating was a little slow on this busy early afternoon, once we had a table, we couldn't have been better cared for. Well beyond the usual check-after-5-minutes/check-for-dessert approach, we had someone checking in on us, unobtrusively, every few minutes to meet our every need. And the food! Easily several strata above the "Mexican-food" chain restaurants and even exceeding your favorite neighborhood mom-and-pop eatery. The mole enchiladas and the shrimp quesadillas were exquisitely prepared and presented, with sauces rich in flavor, black beans with body and flavor (no tan, tasteless mush), and cheese that was not bland or overdone. As it was our first trip there, the manager treated us to churros (lightly fried and warm, with a light and smooth chocolate crème) and homemade Mexican vanilla ice cream. A perfect end to a wonderful meal with attentive staff and a nicely understated decor. We'll definitely be back! read more

If you're looking for super cheap milquetoast Mexican food, go elsewhere (looking at many, many of you fellow reviewers). If $3 for homemade chips and salsa are a deal breaker, go to Chilli's. This is a terrific family-run restaurant but it is new and they're still working out some of the kinks in the service. The con queso is traditional, meaning based on solid chihuahua cheese meant to be served spooned into (the excellent homemade) tortillas. The langostino quesadillas are *amazing*. Wife had the Maria's enchiladas with green sauce which were great. I opted for carne asada, cooked perfectly. We found the service to be unrushed, but friendly. Only quibble would be the absence of traditional refried beans. Overall, two really good experiences so far. read more

This weekend was our first visit. There were three of us. It was overall mediocre. The queso appetizer was pretty good although the dominant flavor for each item in the meal was salt. Table-side guacamole was not available so they substituted a 3/4 cup portion of guac for $7. My wife liked her tacos al pastor. My daily special salad had little flavor except for burnt chicken. Service was odd. The restaurant wasn't full but we felt rushed. Plates disappeared as the last bite was in our mouths. At the end we were sitting talking a few minutes and our server reached in to collect the paid bill... just a bit off as we were there a bit less than an hour. The bill was $70 (before tip, no alcohol, no dessert) for three. Reasonable for a mid-upscale restaurant for lunch but it's just not that good currently. Coming from Chicago, I think the food is great quality and satisfying portions. The price is about 15$ for a steak burrito with rice and beans. So not a cheap Mexican place, but not the most expensive. A normal price for Carmel. Jakub was a great server. Not sure why people are complaining. The steak tacos are amazing!! Also on Monday they have half price margaritas which are not like any other one that I've had before! You can definitely tell they are made with great quality products and not just your crappy mixes/tequilas. The waiter,Marco, was friendly and helpful with explaining the menu to us. Excellent! They don't have gluten free items marked on their menu, so we decided to stop in and ask in person with a backup restaurant in mind in case they couldn't accommodate. The hostess knew exactly what I was asking (sometimes I still get a blank stare, which is really surprising for the food industry this day & age) but couldn't point out exact dishes, so she promptly brought over someone who could (thank you!). Once seated our server was very thorough in checking with the kitchen on the ingredients in the sauces & seasonings (thank you!). We ordered the guacamole, which was served with corn chips, and I had these amazing swordfish kabobs over rice. My husband (not gluten free) had lobster and avocado quesadillas, which he said were fantastic. We also had a couple of margaritas. The service was very attentive throughout the meal and the decor is very well done - rustic Spanish chic from the light fixtures to the tile floors. read more

Los Arroyos is probably the best restaurant I have ever been too. The food is always top notch, and the taste is impeccable. The waiters and waitresses always connect with their customers on a personal, yet extremely professional level. On a weekly average, I would say I visit Los Arroyos three times a week, whether it is for lunch, dinner, or even just to have some dessert (the coconut ice cream with the churros I have to say are frequently found on my bill because they are so hard to stay away from)! I would recommend Los Arroyos to anyone who is looking for their next meal or even just an upbeat lace to have some chips and salsa (which are so good!). My husband and I love authentic Mexican cuisine but can rarely find it but we did last night! Los Arroyos is a gem that shines as a nuevo autentico mexican delight! The atmosphere and decor say clean, sleek and modern upscale without pretentiousness. The menu offers a wide range of choices without being cluttered or overly stacked with same type items and the beverage menu offers a very inclusive list of fine tequilas. As a true foodie, I especially appreciated the fresh approach to Mexican food here. This isn't the overly processed, overly seasoned and sauced tex-mex that you are usually subjected to at most other Mexican restaurants. We started with the ceviche tostada. It was an extremely generous portion that would have been ideal for four people. The fish was fresh with no hint of "fishiness." The acidity level was perfect with just the right amount of herbaceous notes. I had to remind myself to quit eating it in order to leave room for my entree! For our mains, my husband had the pastor Posole. He said the hominy was great with a nice texture and the pork was generous, moist and delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful without being in any way over-seasoned. He really liked that he was served an assortment of garnish on the side to adjust the soup to his own particulars. From cilantro and cabbage, to onion and radish everything was fresh, crisp and flavorful. I had the Marias enchiladas that were amazing. I do not like overly aggressive sauces that muddy food and was very happy with the clean, vibrant taste of the salsa verde that accompanied my enchiladas. The grilled chicken was moist and tender and was locally sourced and organic, which really gave it a fresh and firm taste; and the fresh-made tortillas were incredible. The black beans and rice served with my meal were delicious too. They were definitely not just "fillers." In fact the beans were my favorite dish! Nothing was over seasoned at all. In fact it could have used a touch more salt, but since I am sensitive to salt, I prefer that because I can add more if needed. For dessert my husband had the flan that came dressed with a berry compote. It was incredible. The texture was perfectly firm without being at all gummy and it was fresh and full of flavor. Mmmm-mmmm ! I had the fresh made churros. Oh my gosh... they were the best I have ever had. Crisp without being tough and filled with rich dark chocolate, they were exceptional! We both savored some Casamigos anejo tequila with our lattes and admittedly lingered a while, enjoying a fully sated evening. The service was not rushed and our server comes highly recommended. Ask for Jesus, you will not be disappointed! He was knowledgeable of the menu, had great suggestions and was attentive without being disruptive. Be ready to take your time and relax over a freshly made (yes that word has cropped up alot in this review - because it is true) meal that harkens back to mama's recipes that have been upscaled perfectly. **Here is a hint, a special treat for those who made it all the way through this review. Its a great looking restaurant, not your typical Mexican restaurant. Food was good and different from the normal scene. However, the service was not great. Not sure if it was our servers first day but she didn't get my order correct nor did she try. She was not attentive...I got there before my friend and it was rather slow due the time I got there. The manager finally came by and asked if I wanted a drink while I waited...the server came by then and said oh...I was waiting for your friend to arrive. It was just a but awkward. Meh. Yelp can we please have 1/2 stars?? This would be probably more like a 2.5. If it was based on service, I would give it a 5. The waiter asked if I'd like some hot salsa and it was a highlight and. I have needed turns out. I ordered the pozole with pork because I have never had. Wasn't sure what to expect but for $16, I wanted to be wowed. It looked beautiful. But the flavor was very, very bland. I had to keep adding the hot salsa to get any kind of flavor. The pork was kinda dry. Came with a side dish of toppings like red cabbage, radishes, cilantro, onion and a wee bit of avocado. Again, for the price, I thought I might at least get a 1/2. The chicken soup at La Hacienda is killing this dish. It's a lovely place and the food I saw looked thoughtfully presented. I like the refried beans in the tortilla shell.
