We got takeout from Los Altos for the first time today, and I was really excited to try the food based on all the positive reviews. Unfortunately, when I got home and opened my container, I noticed lint and a small piece of hair inside. It completely ruined my appetite and was honestly really disappointing and disgusting to see. We're not from Fillmore, so driving back wasn't really an option, especially with how expensive gas is right now. Came from out of town for the evening and was not impressed. We saw this place was rated over four stars so we thought to give it a try. Food lacked flavor. I ordered chicken taquitos and the chicken was very dry. My taquitos out of the three, one taquitos roll had two small pieces of chicken out of the whole roll and rest was just the hard roll. We informed the waitress and she brought out another plate of three chicken taquitos but chicken was still dry. If ever in the area again I don't plan to stop back for a bite. We paid for a meal and still left hungry. We ended up stopping for pizza directly after we left because the food was not fulfilling. read more

This was our second visit to Los Altos on our return trip from Santa Ynez, and once again it was the perfect lunch stop. The restaurant is uniquely located in a converted old gas station in the heart of the town of Fillmore, which adds to its charm. There's a very large outdoor seating area that easily accommodates bigger groups, making it a great spot for gatherings. Our food was excellent, and the margaritas were perfect--not too sweet and generously poured on the tequila side. The portions were very generous and reasonably priced, which made the experience even better. This is a perfect destination for a weekend drive. The Santa Clara Valley is a beautiful area to explore, with plenty to see and do. Los Altos would also be a great place for a group motorcycle ride or a car club to meet. We've read some of the negative reviews, but based on our experiences, we found them to be without merit. I'm looking forward to our next visit. read more

We've just started! Chips and salsa for the table. Salsa is mild, home made, yummmm! Chips are absolutely perfect! Can you tell I base my experience on the Chips? Def homemade! Crunchy, light and not greasy. I had 2 carne asada soft tacos. Didn't have to add sauce or any other flavorings, yummy! My husband grew up with his mom making menudo. He says this is a close second. Found out a local favorite closed, I grabbed the Yelp! machine and did a quick search for something new. I found this spot. Located on the corner down the main drag in Fillmore (where the sushi place used to be), I decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the team there. I bellied up to the bar for an order to go. They informed me about their Happy Hour specials, so of course I said "Hell yeah!" Grabbed their margarita and served some chips and salsa. The salsa was warm and sooooo delicious. Another guy snuck around and dropped off another salsa and backed away slowly saying, "Be careful...". Challenge accepted since I like hot stuff. Both salsa's were delicious and then the sneaky guy told me to mix them and damn if he wasn't right. So good! Then it was time to put in my to go order. The wife wanted something special, but I didn't see it on the menu. She was not feeling well and this was her wish. They were nice enough to give it a shot. Very very kind and I hate to put it on here so everybody goes in there asking for something off menu, but I wanted to share how nice they were about it. Stick to the menu people, that's rude. I asked what their specialty was and he recommended the house fajitas. I agreed. Finished up the margarita and chips, you know how it is when someone puts chips and salsa in front of you, and grabbed the bag to go. Got home and opened up the bag and WOW, it was a lot of food and DELICIOUS! Wife was super happy after I told her the story and how the guy even burned himself making it (I told her it was the "secret spices" lol). The place has indoor and outdoor areas. The back area looks huge! The inside has about 8-10 tables and the place filled up while I was there, so it looks like other locals are discovering this spot too or I am just late to the party, which could also be the case. Honestly everything was terrible Walked in and no one was there to help but the owner (i think) she was sitting down drinking with her friends at the bar lol Rice tastes worse than pollo loco rice. We really liked this experience and left the restaurant "stoked." Outdoors on the deck there was a party just starting. I think a family deal celebrating an important date. Indoors there were neighborhood regulars, it seemed. I love to meet people and feel places. The waiter (who seemed to know everyone) had a big smile and seemed so welcoming. Quick to take our orders and be there when we needed. Assume he was at an ocher to the job a long time. Seafood tostada ingredients were fresh and tasty...Modelo went down smooth. My wife told me later that her flank steak was tough but that kind of cut can be tough.....did you cut it up enough? This place is a local gem! The owner is so kind, and the food is awesome too. I loved my margarita! There's a huge patio with a small stage, good for entertaining. We absolutely love Los Altos. The Waiter Raul goes above and beyond each time and he is great with our 20 month old son. The margaritas are amazing, service goes beyond expectations and the food is unique to Jalisco and great each time. We have tried the fajitas, molcajete and shrimp appetizer and all have been great. I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed a meal in years and I can't say that anymore. I had a carne asada burrito and it was sublime. The chips were good, and their version of "salsa" isn't anyone else's version of salsa (though, I'm sure, nowhere near as healthy either). They were completely empty, as it was Saturday afternoon at 1:30, but the staff were incredibly nice, and funny. Biggest problem is that they're over an hour drive away and I have literally zero reason to be anywhere near them. Probably won't stop me, however. read more

We happened to pass through town and we were hungry. We saw this place right in front of city hall and decided to give it a try. It was delicious and I'm glad we bumped into this restaurant, everything very flavorful and the service is excellent. My husband tried the Michelada and it was gigantic and delicious. He then ordered the Torta ahogada and it was gigantic and delicious as well. I went for the enchiladas and they were fantastic, I loved the beans! To me, when a Mexican place has delicious beans it means they've got it right cause they care about the most basic element of its menu. read more
