Beef Hardshell Tacos

Little hole in the wall gem I found while headed back to Ventura. Was busy on a Sunday (love that for them) and still service was great & quick. The food... immaculate. We got two cocas mexicana, a jicama juice, chile rellano plate, a beef hardshell taco, and the chilaquiles plate that surprisingly came with papas. I'm sort of a rice & beans fanatic (I have been on the hunt to find refried beans that remind me of my abuelita's recipe) and these were great especially with the fried eggs.

Grabbed a breakfast burrito to go after calling ahead. Quoted 15-20 minutes and it took exactly that. Eggs, bacon, cheese, potatoes and pico. Super delicious and plenty for the hubs and me. $10.68 was a fair price. Restaurant was pretty full for Thursday mid-morning but it's pretty small, so I'm glad I ordered to go. Nice small shop and on-site baked goods for any home needs.

Caldo de Pollo

La Fondita is the kind of place your grandma would run if she had a restaurant. It's small and family run with a cute shop next door that has panaderia, sodas and candy. We had menudo and Caldo de pollo and both were excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. They take pride in their doors and you can taste it. We will be back!

First time coming here and will come back again. Tried their menudo, tamale and it is really good!

Its our first time coming here and will be back again. Their food is great taste like home cooked meal.

The horchata was refreshing had a rich a creamy taste. Chilaquiles were a bit bland, but I enjoyed the bistec with the potatoes. Had a nice spice them.

Nothing on my plate was hot. It's like they opened cans and jars, mixed the ingredients in a bowl and unappetizingly plated it. How even the eggs were cold is beyond me. Never had chilaquilles cold. And I'm pretty sure it's not them trying out a new way to cook the dish. It's not a 1 star because they cooked me new eggs. I'm extremely easy to please. How a mexican restaurant can mess this dish up this badly is beyond me.

It supposed to be rajas con queso ..

If i can give 0 stars I would ... Poor costumer service !.. I bought tamales there because I herd people talking about them doing them good but literally noo they are trash .. I got several without anything inside just the masa ..

Bistec ranchero, great plating!

Great tasting food and good service. The tortillas were fresh and if you drink they have all your favorite beverages.

The service is always fast, friendly, and welcoming, and it's honestly one of the easiest restaurants in Fillmore to recommend with complete confidence to anyone visiting town. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they do. The margaritas and micheladas are off the charts! generous pours and huge compared to the tiny drinks you get at so many other Mexican restaurants. The food is consistently great too. My personal favorite is the Pollo Tampiqueño, but their Molcajete, fajitas, albondigas, homemade tortillas are all amazing and definitely one of the highlights of the menu. Their signature seafood plates are absolutely worth trying. If you're anywhere near Fillmore, El Pescador is worth the drive. Family owned with great food, great people, great atmosphere, plenty of parking, and the kind of local restaurant that keeps people coming back.

Our waiter came over with menus and was very helpful with a few questions that we had. We ordered a Molcagete, which is a lot of food and can definitely be shared with 2-3 people. We also ordered a camarones costa azul plate. Everything was so delicious, but the molcagete was my favorite. Another great thing about this restaurant is that they hand-make their tortillas right there. I loved the warm, hand-made tortillas. I also had a spicy margarita, which was amazing. The restaurant had so much space, a bar area, and can definitely be a great place for large parties. I loved El Pescador, and I can't wait to go back and maybe try their lunch specials.

The restaurant is uniquely located in a converted old gas station in the heart of the town of Fillmore, which adds to its charm. There's a very large outdoor seating area that easily accommodates bigger groups, making it a great spot for gatherings. Our food was excellent, and the margaritas were perfect--not too sweet and generously poured on the tequila side. The portions were very generous and reasonably priced, which made the experience even better. This is a perfect destination for a weekend drive. The Santa Clara Valley is a beautiful area to explore, with plenty to see and do. Los Altos would also be a great place for a group motorcycle ride or a car club to meet. We've read some of the negative reviews, but based on our experiences, we found them to be without merit. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Unfortunately, when I got home and opened my container, I noticed lint and a small piece of hair inside. It completely ruined my appetite and was honestly really disappointing and disgusting to see. We're not from Fillmore, so driving back wasn't really an option, especially with how expensive gas is right now. Overall, this was a very disappointing first experience, and sadly we will not be returning.

They have a parking lot in the back! Went in on a Saturday evening and it was really dead around 5pm! They have a full bar, massive margaritas that they will make Virgin if you ask. My dad had a few beers, I had the Jamaica with horchata in it (creamy, sweet, delicious!) their chips and salsa are also addictingly crunchy and satisfying. I loved their salsa, it has depth to it and I couldn't stop myself from eating it! I ordered the green enchiladas (one chicken and one cheese) they are gluten free. Served along side rice, beans, and sour cream. There was a lot of cheese and I couldn't finish it (just because it was so rich!) I took home the leftovers to eat the following day. The dish was fanatic, next time I could stick to the chicken enchiladas, there was plenty of cheese! The rice was cooked perfectly, the beans were a little runny. My dad had the chili rellanos and said they were good, but smaller in size than the last time he had been. He finished his plate! My side salad was nothing to write home about, small portion. Price was decent, $65 for 2 beers, one drink, 2 entrees and a side salad. The service... I feel bad saying this. One of the girls that served us moved very slowly.. she had only 2 other tables besides us that she was attending. It took her a long time to come back when we asked for drinks (I never got a refill) my dad waited 30 min for his second beer. The food came out of the kitchen at a decent speed but the server was taking her time. Another server there was quickly bussing tables, taking orders, and making sure everyone was tended to. If you're a server please look up and scan the room to know if someone needs something!! We couldn't flag her down and this is a small one room restaurant. She could use some training. Luckily the other girl helped give us our check, and took care of the rest. The restaurant itself is charming, cute and quant. I would come for margaritas with the girls. The paintings on the wall could use some improvement.

The tritip on the outside grill smelled amazing that I knew I had to try it. I got the lunch special sandwich which is a choice of turkey, tritip or grilled chicken. I got the tritip sandwich with fries for $11.99. It's seriously one of the cheaper lunch plates I had seen in many moons. Our server was on top of it and got our orders and drinks straight. The food took about 15-20 minutes for all of us to be served. The waitress constantly checked in with us to see how everything was. The fries are thick cut which are one of my favorites. My wife and I were driving through Ventura County during a storm and decided to stop for lunch. On our way home, we came across Central Station--a Sports Bar and Grill--and honestly, what more could you ask for on a rainy day? The place opens at 11 a.m., and when we arrived, we were welcomed into a restaurant with outdoor seating, a decent-sized dining area, and a full bar. There were several TVs throughout, making it a great spot to watch sports while enjoying food and drinks. Once seated, our host Monique provided exceptional service. She got us seated right away, took our drink order promptly, and gave us plenty of time to review their massive menu--which, by the way, made it very hard to choose. From breakfast burritos and salads to tri-tip sandwiches, wings, pizza, sampler platters, grilled chicken, and more, everything sounded delicious. Before ordering food, we checked out the drink options. They offer plenty of domestic and imported beers, both bottled and on draft. I'm a simple guy, so I went with my favorite Miller Lite, which was ice-cold and refreshing. My wife ordered a Bloody Mary and said it was very good--so good I wish I had taken a photo of it. We decided on the sampler platter since it had a variety of finger foods we love: buffalo wings, chicken strips, potato skins, BBQ pork ribs, and flautas. While waiting, I couldn't resist adding a side of my favorite--steak fries. When the food arrived, I was amazed at how much we received for such a reasonable price. Everything on the platter was hot, flavorful, and satisfying. The wings were spicy, the pork tips were sweet and tender, and overall the platter was excellent. The only small downside was that the chicken strips weren't as hot as the rest and were slightly dry, but dipping them in buffalo sauce made up for it. The steak fries were massive--I couldn't even finish them. They were fresh, hot, and perfectly seasoned (with a little help from me). The buffalo sauce paired amazingly with the fries. Overall, this was a great experience trying a new lunch spot in Ventura County. Affordable prices, great-tasting food and drinks, friendly service, and a beautiful city to enjoy while passing through Highway 126. I highly recommend Central Station to anyone looking for good food, drinks, or a relaxed place to unwind.
