Ordered Chili Verde Burrito and it was terrible!! Only thing that saved it was the beans&rice or would be giving a one star !! Not sure about rest of menu but stay away from ordering the no flavor chili verde!!! Usually a hole in the wall place like this is good.!? Plenty of parking. Nice and cool inside. Mounted TVs on two sides of the walls. The theme of the restaurant is #Pancho Villa. They have quite a few photos on the walls that are interesting to look at while waiting for your order. They have a clean restroom. The place is old but is clean. There is plenty of seating available. You order by going up to the counter and place your order. Although the TVs are in Spanish language and the employees can be heard speaking in Spanish the host does speaks fluent English. It is a busy restaurant and many locals come and go. The service is friendly and quick. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant. I was excited they sell #Tripa Tacos! I had a shrimp cocktail that was tasty. The shrimp are small and not the big ones you might expect, but it had good flavor. I had a fish taco and that was very tasty. The shrimp taco was my favorite. It was very flavorful. I had a carne asada taco and was not a fan of it. I had a bean, rice, and cheese burrito and it was delicious. Their beans are very flavorful. The chorizo breakfast burritos are awesome and we love their salsa, but that's about it. We visited a few more times (lunch and dinner) and were not impressed by the under seasoned tough dry meat. We tried most of the taco varieties and a couple burritos, not one thing stood out as great. It's aight. Chips aren't the best, this is usually how I tell if a Mexican place is good not gonna lie. Asada burrito is very fresh, made super fast, the meat is tender no gristle (this is great), flavor profile isn't really there. The verde-light brownish colored salsa is pretty good. Red salsa is a watery pico-de-gallo. Salsa bar has pickled white onions which I loaded up on my asada burrito. This place is a great choice if: You like fresh and tender asada but are ok with adding/building upon the flavor. You are sensitive to hot/spicy foods. Absolutely one of the best breakfast burrito places in the area. I had the chorizo and egg burrito with cheese and beans (no rice or cilantro). The flavor was out of this world. It just so happened to be a Tuesday right before lunch, and they have a Taco Tuesday. They were prepping the taco meat and the place smelled heavenly. Service was excellent, and my order was ready very quickly - even with a store full of people. This is one of those small, clean, out of the way places that you always wish you knew about but are getting harder to find these days. Three Stars is A-OK. To me, it's just another good Taqueria, you probably have to go there a handful of times to find out what might set it apart from other Taquerias. However, It's my second time coming here today and I got the chili relleno burrito and it was huge and excellent! The place is clean, the folks were nice and they have a salsa bar. When taking the "out of traffic/long way" from Orange County up to SLO, we pass through Fillmore. There are plenty of taco places dotted along the highway, but Ay! Chihuahua is one of our tops! The staff is so friendly!! Especially the cool dude with the long braids (sorry, never remember his name). Full of smiles, happy to see guests, and pleased to take our order. Tiny little spot, but so many selections! We've tauted it the "Best Shrimp Cocktail Ever" spot. Great salsa too. You'll receive several samples of salsa with your order but the one we prefer is the main one that they give us in the larger bowl. They all are delicious though, no joke. Flautas are good, I'd say they are a bit more crispy than I like (more like taquitos, if you will), tacos are great, tostadas are very simple. I want to say that we love the tostadas even though we joke that they are like the ones you get at a Pop Warner game.... maybe because they are so simple. They've got beers in bottles and several soda selection, as well as horchata and Orange Bang. Decent prices and public restrooms.... it's a nice break on our drive. CHEERS!! read more

No frills spot with limited seating. The staff members are friendly and greet you with a smile! However, I am torn as to how to review this place. My partner and I stopped here on our way to Ojai, and ordered a carne asada burro to share. It was absolutely AMAZING! The tortilla was fresh, soft, pliable and had a great light flavor full of yummy lard! The tortilla was also thick and didn't become mushy and leaky from the filling. The burro had a nice ratio of more meat and less beans. The meat also had a nice grilled, almost charcoal flavor. And the beans were nice, creamy and had a smoky taste from the lard. A few weeks later when back in the area, we decided to drop in again. The food was absolutely HORRIBLE! We ordered FIVE burros with every intention of taking a few home to eat later. Unfortunately, we ended up tossing them the next day. The tortillas smelled and tasted like processed Mission brand flour tortillas from the local grocery store. They were thin and became mushy and leaked out filling. The beans were okay, but our burros were pretty much bean burritos. The small amount of meat placed in the burro had the consistence and taste of boiled meat and greatly lacked flavor, not to mention it didn't taste fresh. We were so disappointed. What a waste of money. Based on the fact that we wasted so much money on top of the fact that we only tried this place twice and the quality was soooo different and inconsistent within such a short period of time, I do not feel comfortable giving a decent or high rating for this spot, unfortunately. If I'm ever in the area again, I may give it another try, but only after a conversation with the owner. read more

I've driven by this place forever and never gave it a consideration. That was my mistake ! We stopped this morning for breakfast burritos on our way for some adventures and it was the best breakfast burrito I've had in a long time! I had the machaca which is a shredded seasoned beef and it was packed full of flavor! With eggs and refried beans, salsa onions and cilantro it was amazing!! Flavorful and not overpowering with excessive mess of rice or papas. I look forward to stopping again ! read more

I love me some ay chihuahua . Their food is always good and they have good customer service. I think of them as a mom and pop mexican food, fast food. The building itself is not so pleasing to look at, and truthfully it kept me from going in for a long time... but I'm glad I did!
